"I gave your ma a chance, but your da never taught her how to f$%k, which is how come you barely drizzled out of his d$%k one drunken Christmas." Lèi says, trying to look stoned out of his mind, body tensing in anticipation of an attack he hopes to spoil with the thug's overconfidence.

Would you guys prefer to do init every round like the book says or just once?

The opening Lèi was waiting for, he uses the thugs momentum against him, sliding under his meaty fist and thrusting upward to carry the man over into a flip jujitsu style. He grabs the extended arm as he does so, twisting it behind the man as he falls, causing a popping sound.
Pos 1d6 ⇒ 1
Neg 1d6 ⇒ 5
Martial Arts 1 - 5 + 12 = 8
At least, that was the way he envisioned it in his mind's eye.
I'm ok with init flexing every round, makes things more dynamic.

Fortunately, with all this stuff about his master and the Triads, Kevin always keeps his nunchaku with him. Quickly grabbing it, he starts whirling it around, air sounds all around. He created s tornado of wood and chain, striking at whoever gets close to him, and throws a blue at one of the thugs' face.
Nunchaku Strike: 15 + 1d6 - 1d6 ⇒ 15 + (2) - (1) = 16
Spent a Chi point to activate Blur of Rage: until next keyframe, if a mook attacks him, there's a 50% chance the mook drops just before attacking due to nunchaku whirlwind.

Okay, after rethinking things, I think we'll do it this way: I'll call the initiatives by group and then drop everyone who acted in that group down by their shot cost (in the current combat, as an example, that would have been Ogami and Lei).
[ooc]Initiative (bold may act):
Ogami 10
Lei 9
Kevin 10
Les 9
Thugs 9
Leader 8
Players go before enemies, unless I mention otherwise.

Arite, sorry, I thought we were talking these initiatives scores from next round onwards. If we act again, we'd be doing two actions on a row. But here we go!
"WAaaaAAAaaahhhhHH..." After hitting one of the thugs, Kevin rolls his nunchaku up and down, left and right, and twists his body all around to get to the next mook, his whirlwind of wood striking several times and protecting him at the same time.
Nunchaku strike again: 15 + 1d6 - 1d6 ⇒ 15 + (3) - (4) = 14
Shot cost: 3

Lei's attempt to kick his nearby enemy's face into the back of his head is dodged by his target, which only seems to embolden him.
Fortunately for the young man, both the massive Aussie and the last student of the Shadow Dragon manage to down their targets.
Mook Count: 4
"That one belongs to brother Wei. Deal with the others." the group leader says, pointing at the Aussie. The thugs then attempt to put their numbers to work in their favor against the Disciple of the Shadow Dragon and the Child Soldier.

Thug 1: Kevin (pos/neg): 1d6 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 3
Even with a near perfect setup, both heroes manage to avoid the mook's kicks and punches.
As the fight continues, Les and Brother Wei square off against each other, and then with a charge Brother wei attempts to overpower Les and smash him into submission.
Brother Wei (Pos/Neg): 1d6 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 4
As the two large men clash, neither has the advantage for the moment.
Meanwhile, when the fight breaks out, most people start running, but some pull out cellphones and begin recording...

Lei smiles. "I didn't come here to play dress-up with your princesses. I came for your tea party, Francis, or whatever your not-quite a man's name is." He reaches under his jacket, pulling out a sizable handgun. "Tell you what, though, I'll let them hold onto my poppets while we dance."
