The teams poor aim continues as Rakdon fools both the arquand drychen as well as himself with his knife trick.

The blue drychen sets off in pursuit of Neon. Ivok, ready for such a move strikes out at it. The beast, still confused by Quirk, almost avoids the blow, but a rune on on the mighty vesk's cryopike flares with the end result of Ivok knocking it back. It takes its anger out on him.

Success, just, only just

The red drychen pauses for a moment and springs upon Ivok from behind. Rakdon notes an opportunity to cause some pain...

The two combined to seize the warrior bashing him about like a little toy. Surely even a vesk can't take this much punishment for long.

Goose keeps his altitude and takes a page from Quirk. However, he moves to aid Charli as the envoy seems to be taking on a large beast single-handedly. He uses the commotion of the battle to move and sneak in a shot.

Trick attack at +37 (+26 skill, +1 to trick attack, take 10). Anything up to CR 17 is tricked for the attack. Also, GREEN is FF to everyone in the party until my next turn (if I hit). :D

Electrostatic Field damage on Red.
Electricity: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

The electric arcs cut through the holographic illusion surrounding Ivok, distorting the image as the module attempts to compensate. Despite the beating Ivok is taking, the disguised vesk seems to be not slowing down or faltering just yet.

I believe you already dealt damage for blue on the AoO you rolled against me and reversed once it was confirmed that it was flat-footed. I don't think you removed the electrostatic damage though. Rather than roll the electricity damage for Blue, I'm fine with leaving that damage already there if that is fine with you.

Goose blasts the green Drychen with a bolt of force. It can be presumed to be unhappy about that.

Completely fine, I have no worries.

Right now Green is flat-footed to the party from Goose's hit which helps Charli's movement.

My impulse is to, even if Blue doesn't go down now, for me to move to attempt to hold back Green as best I'm able.

I don't think I can get into melee with green with a single move or charge upward with my force soles even with a 50 ft base speed (Ascending into the air is similar to walking up an incline. The maximum upward angle possible is 45 degrees, and you move at a rate equal to half your normal land speed.). Correct me if I'm wrong through. My plan is to double move upward to Green. (Half of 100 ft of movement. 25 ft North, 25 ft into the air.)

Let me know if there another suggestion for that I could do to help.

If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you can combine drawing or sheathing a weapon or weapon-like object with moving up to your speed as a single move action. However, with Trick Attack being a full-round action, I am unsure if this applies as part of the 'movement' indicated in the ruling.

Also, I am curious as to rolling your Trick Attack vs. taking 10, which is allowed at 7th level as an operative. :D

Quoted from the pregen.
Trick Attack As a full action, Iseph can move up to 40 feet and make a single attack with a small arm (or a melee weapon with the operative special property) as a trick attack. Just before making the attack, Iseph attempts a Bluff, Intimidate, or Stealth check (whichever is better for Iseph) with a DC equal to 20 + the target’s CR. If the skill check is successful, the attack deals 4d8 additional damage and the target is flat-footed against this attack.

Oh, right, the pregen doesn't have quickdraw as pulling the gun is a move. unless I can draw the gun as the move while standing still and still shoot. Anyway, I'm not moving into melee, I'd prefer to shoot and lose the trick attack this round, I only did it last round cause red came to close to me.

In the case of the ranged attack, Rakdon will get a +1 to their attack because of Coordinated Shot.

Following the line of electricity up into the air, Ivok spares a glance to the pair of alien creatures to both side before running up into the air straight at the drychen threatening Charlie, the augmentations in his body pushing him to take on the uphill run with great haste. "I don't think they are letting us go that easily! Take down the wounded one while I keep the other two busy!"

Double move using mk 2 force soles into range of Green. Spending 2 RP on cardiac accelerating to boost speed to 50 ft for both move. Provokes from Red. I don't believe it provokes from Blue or Green because they are flat-footed.

Waiting for two answers, Aerondor.

Question One: Is Blue dead? I have a synchronous heart, which gives me blindsight life for dead or dying creatures.

Question Two, remaining knowledge question: What is their speed? Charli's speed is 50. Can she outrun them, or are more inventive tactics required?

Lantern Lodge

@Neon, that lighting bolt getting bolt is *right* on the edge of doable. Given your feat that lets you move and cast in the middle, I'm going with it, as I'm assuming you would just move forward slightly to get it slightly better lined up in actuality.

Neon pulls electrical charge from the air, sending a bolt through two of the creatures. Both avoid the worst of it... However the punishment is too much for the blue wolf-thing and it slumps to the ground, unmoving.

Ivok heads upward at as fast a pace as he can muster. While he gets in range of the green creature, he doesn't have time to attack it. As he moves up the red wolf bites at him, drawing blood. He does get some satisfaction as it draws back in pain due to the zap it gets from his armour.

Rakdon pulls a pistol and shoots, but in the chaos, the soundwaves misses the large beast. Miss vs EAC

Charli looks at the choas, realising the blue drychen really is dead.
She knows the creatures are fast. As fast as her, but not faster, unless they use their special adaptation ability to boost their speed. Thinking about it, she realises it's energy level must be pretty low or exhausted as it must have adapted to dig underground for the ambush, adapted for the wings to chasing her, and also used its mental attack in the initial ambush.

So Red is going to follow Ivok.... and Green will follow me until one of us is dead. Joy. Charli is used to being the team medic, but she can't use her abilities to help the team when on the run like this. She breathes heavily, trying to think. Still, it's not time to give up.

"Right. This is a game of Keep Away." Charli looks to Ivok. "Stay in the fight, okay? I am counting on you bringing my body back."

Inspiring Boost on Ivok +36 stamina points, spending another resolve.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25

In desperation, Charli flies down, leading the creature right past Ivok's Attack of Opportunity. "Quirk, I'm using you as cover. I'm sorry! Hopefully you can still shoot the thing when it's in your face! I'm doing this so it can't charge me! If I survive the next hit, I'm leading it past Ivok again."

If worse come to worse, Charli will cash in her slotless Slayer of the God Spawn boon but let's see how this game works.

Ivok feels inspired by Charli's words, reassured and his vesk confidence returning in full force.

The green drychen also sprouts wings, allowing it to climb into the air in pursuit of Ivok. But it only gets a single chomp in on him.
Only is a somewhat subjective term. Ivok's newfound confidence is shattered as more blood flows out of his ceremonial commander plate. That is one mighty creature.

Still a miss sorry.

The green drychen agilely avoids the knife of goose as it plummets down upon the hapless Charli taking a massive bite out of the little gnome. Who somehow, still stands, obviously on her last legs.

@Rakdon: It was asked before, why are you rolling your Trick Attack rather than just taking 10?

"I sure hope this works! Let's concentrate on taking Green down!" Neon yells as he moves up right next to be beast. I really hope it doesn't suddenly develop a taste for me.

Then he fires off another arcing surge, this time slanting it up at a much steeper angle so as to get both creatures.
Arcing Surge, Electrical damage: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 5, 2, 2, 2, 6, 5, 6) = 37 120’ line shaped burst, DC 20 Reflex for half damage

Having moved so far, he has no time to move back out of the creature's reach.

I would like to know after this if it is even possible for them to fail the save on anything other than a natural one. They haven't failed on the first four saves.

Charli feels dizzy, as the creature takes another bite out of her.

Giddily, she giggles, "This is like one of Spoon's advertising slogans. Gentle Sentients, when you eaten your fill of gnome, why not wash it down with some delicious Poshkettle Tea? Now available in the new flavor, EAT PIKE AND DIE!"

Charli somehow holds it together to fly past Ivok's cryopike, and takes a parting shot at the Green Drychen.

If by some miracle Neon's Arcing surge took Green down, she'll stay where she is and shoot Red instead, adding Get 'Em.

I'm relatively confident that Neon's arcing surge would take down green and, if not, Charli's attack would take it down. I take the action assuming it is down, if not, I would need to change my action.

Ivok considers a full out retreat, but with the damage already done to the others in the group, he decides his wounds aren't severe enough to risk what the creature may do if it was left with no target. Instead he taunts the creature to continue to draw the unwavering focus as he strikes again with his cryopike. "You have been pushing at me this time and I've been ignoring you. Time to give you that one on one training you have been asking for!"

I keep forgetting that taking 10 is a thing with trick attack, since you never get to take 10 in any D&D addition during a combat.

Rakon's luck continues to be poor. Thinking about it, it's almost a surprise one of the creatures hadn't picked him to be its lunch. It's been that kind of afternoon for him.

Taking advantage of the flat footed drychen, Neon lines up the two remaining beasts and redirects the ambient power in the area into a sizzling line of death. Both are canny combatants. They have seen what Neon has done before and dodge to avoid the worst of his talent. However for the green drychen... it is just too much and it slumps unmoving to the ground.

Charli:
Dead

Charli then encourages everyone to pick on the last drychen, leading by examine with Boom. It's ears ringing, the last red drychen can't avoid the crushing force of Ivok's cryopike. It too drops.

Charli:
Also dead.

rolls:

reflex red: 1d20 ⇒ 18
reflex green: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Neon:

I needed 8s to make the reflex saves. I just rolled quite well this fight.

As the sonic Boom from Charli's pistol finishes echoing off the canyon walls the sands fall quiet.

perception dc10:

Nearby you spot some torn apart Vesk. It looks like they were the appetizer. While the armour is beyond reasonable repair, there are a couple of combat rifles and longarm rounds on them, and four grenades (frag, mk III). Turning over one of the bodies you also find an elite shirren-eye rifle with another 12 longarm rounds.
That armour... do a culture check as well.

Ivok looks to Charlie to confirm her wounds are being tended to before taking a moment to carefully patrol around to secure the area. Upon seeing the Vesk most others had already noticed by this point Ivok checks his holographic disguise again to confirm his own appearance is hidden before checking through the fallen's gear.

"Looks like they weren't as well prepared as us. I don't think I could have taken them out by myself either if not for each of you putting your own strength in. This cage hasn't dulled the fangs of the creature's inside." Ivok appraises the gear and checks the rifle. "Weapons seems to be still working. I could take the rifle, but it may better in one of your hands. They tore right through the armor. I can believe it seeing how hard it was for me to force them back. There is something though I'm having a hard time grasping though..."

Ivok thinks there is something odd about the dead vesk. Their ripped up armor and insignia are definitely veskarium military issue, but they doesn't go with the rest of outfits and adornments which resemble the safari costumers on Krall's Oasis - a holoshow that was popular a couple of years ago.

I will admit I thought the DC 31 was for the Culture check. I'll leave that check in the hands of others with Perception bonuses.

"We should take some cover, but I agree we should take any rest we can before throwing ourselves into the next event. It is important to pace ourselves and skipping would only line us up for more permanent injury."

"Still I like to be sure another set of those creatures aren't approaching. Charlie, thank you for the support there, if you didn't keep me alert and ready for that last blow, I would be in a much worse way. I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep it from attacking you again. Please take this," Ivok say as he hands over a set of healing serums. "They aren't powerful, but I know any bit can help out."

I'm giving four mk 1 serums of healing to Charlie (1d8 healing each) and one mk 2 serum of healing (3d8 healing). I'm also fine with taking a short rest barring any objections.

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6 Nope, didn’t get the perception check! :)

Neon let’s out a sigh of relief when the Drychen chasing Chali goes down to his lightning. He almost manages a cheer at seeing the other one go down soon after that. He starts one, only to wince in pain and grab his side.

Looking to Ivok, he sincerely says “Thank you Ivok for stepping in the way and saving us there.” Then looking to Quirk and Goose he adds “You two as well, if not for your attacks they would have surely gotten me when I shot lightning at them.

He looks around a little, then starts searching through the inventory on his pack. “There we go, thought I had some!” as he highlights some items and extracts them. “I have two of the cheap healing serums and one of the moderate.” He checks the label on one, then adds “Fortunately they don’t expire quickly, I bought this one at the same time I bought my static arc pistol.” He smiles weakly.

Charli, how many of these will you accept?” he asks, holding out the three clearly labeled vials.

Dug through my inventory. Here is what I have.
Mk I Healing Serum x2
Mk II Healing Serum

Think after this mission, I will be buying a twelve pack of the MK I Serums. :)

I will be taking a 10 minute rest.

Other sources of healing available:
Medicine Skill to Treat Deadly Wounds. I suspect Charli is best at that.
Neon Ten can cure 9 hit points of damage via Field Fix from his archetype.
