Zaarah Katsu |
Zaarah continues to fly in the direction of the red light and asks her companions to please follow her across the bridge!
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
GM Otha |
As Zaarah moves deeper into the chamber, she notices that the two pits are about 15' in diameter and appear to be extremely deep. As she reaches the middle of the cavern on her way to the reddened tunnel, she sees several of the cocoons begin to quiver and sway back and forth, as if something were trying to break through...
Her sharp senses also pick something else up of note...a humanoid shrouded in tattered leather robes, lurking in the dark near the edge of the tunnel from which the red light emanates from...it's nervously eying both her and the cocoons...
Zaarah Katsu |
kn planes: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31 Resistances, immunities please.
"A denizen of Leng is lurking back there and the cocoons! Prepare!"
Faerin Boulderstep |
Faerin is glad for someone to be scouting ahead and even though she lacks the means to fly, her steady gait means she doesn't stop even if she's slower then the rest.
Crossing the bridge proved to be safe but one can never be too careful as she slowly tests the boards with her weight before being satisfied.
Upon being warned however, she has Slitherbane in her hands ready for a fight should it come to it...
Ridley Zane |
When we get out at the mines, Ridley will drink another extract of See Invisibility and Heroism, and tap himself with his wand of heightened awareness.
Kn Planes: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
Yup, those are from Leng alright...
GM Otha |
Immune to poison; resist cold 30, electricity 30; SR 19
Just as Zaarah warns everyone, three cocoons burst open in a shower of blood and gore as several large-sized newborn spiders emerge. Their high-pitched shrieks echo throughout the mines...they appear ravenously hungry as they eye each of you...
The denizen of Leng cries out in terror, "Master, more spiders are born..." as he retreats back into the tunnel of red light...

Did I miss something? These are the same creatures, we know most of that info already and Zaarah already rolled?
Ridley Zane |
The first knowledge check was for the dude in the robe who ran off I think - now we are rolling for the spiders presently trying to eat us.
Thendros |
Well shoot, those knowledge checks might significantly alter my turn. I'm not going to use a mind-affecting ability if I know they are immune to mind-affecting for instance. I based my turn off of the previous results of immune to poison and SR 19 etc. Just delay me until the next group if they are immune to mind-affecting for now since I'm at work.
GM Otha |
Thendros, it has them as immune to confusion and insanity effects not mind-affecting abilities. While it seems to me it's a confusion/insanity effect, I can't see where it's listed as such, so your readied action can go forward (but the spiders don't come in range on the first round per the scenario's tactics).

Ok, thanks! @Zaarah, is that a normal "Sleep" spell? It has a 1 round casting time normally and you'll also need an SR check.
Pokey uses a different wand this time and readies it to combo with his master. Readied action to cast Stumble Gap before on the closest spider right before Thendros uses his ability.
Thendros readies the same action, as it's likely his best choice against these strange spiders with spell resistance.
Readied action to use the damnation ability above if all three spiders are in range (30ft). DC 16 will save.
"These spiders are pretty weird, and most of my spells won't do much to them. If anyone can think of some low strength magic to use on them, let me know and I'll cast it, but nothing's coming to mind right now." Thendros says as he watches the spiders carefully.
Zaarah Katsu |
Sorry, no this is a slumber hex. Supernatural abilities require no spell resistance.
Thendros |
I thought it might be a hex, but I didn't see any witch levels, so I assumed it was a spell. My ability is also Su, which is why I'm not rolling SR either :)
