Initiative order:
Block 1: Tilorean, Bran, Fulk, Ragnar and Adonara
Block 2: Globster
Block 3: Bachu
So block 1, your actions
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Pretty bad, that my initiative sucks so much, a blob almost beat me. :)
Ragnar pauses a moment, then notices that the others were rushing in.
he then rushes in with the rest.
axe assault: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 26
BAB, STR, MWK, Focus, War Mind
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Slashing
HP 43, Warmind 9/10 rounds
Adonara Strixis

@Ragnar (and everyone): Adonara cast bless in the wind-up, so have another +1 to attack. :)
As Fulk’s magical web covers the globster, Adonara tries to readjust for just how large and shapeless the monster is, and takes another slash at it, putting as much force behind the blow as she can.
Power attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 10
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Thank you for the reminder. even though I doubt I need it for that strike.
In my count, I forgot Warmind for Bran. 8/10 rounds remaining
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Bran, You have a couple of additional options available to you every round for another 8 rounds.
War Mind (ACG 68): You can touch an ally and grant them a tactical advantage for 1 minute. At the start of each of their turns, they can select one of the following bonuses for that round:
+10ft to base speed
+1 dodge bonus to AC
+1 insight bonus on attack rolls
+1 luck bonus on saving throws.
Tilorean Vashnarstill
Til moves in (into a flanking position if possible) and works to help take the thing down.
Rapier w/ Flank: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 = 13
P, Magic, Adamantine, Sneak: 1d6 + 6 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (3, 2, 1) = 16
If sneak works and hits, opponent suffers Bleed 3 and I pick Disoriented to reduce the opppnent's attack rolls by 2
Nevermind. Automiss.
Fulk the Red
Unsure what else to do, Fulk draws his dagger and slashes at the glob.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage, P/S: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Bachu
Bachu approaches the blob and tries to attack it.
Mwk. Kama: 1d20 + 5 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 3 + 1 = 24 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Sorry, your priestess is nodding. It looks like initiative has looped back around again? Unless the mess has attracted more unfriendly attention, Adonara will keep on slicing away.
If not for the very real and disgusting risk of being overwhelmed by what almost looks like a monstrous, rancid blancmange, there would be something surreal about the situation the courtesan finds herself in, like a bad dream conjured up by a miscalculated overindulgence of an evening. As it is, she steels herself to try to slice the globster to bits, however long and many it takes.
Power attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 15 Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 11
Tilorean Vashnarstill
Adjusting to try to keep an advantageous position, Til tries again to stick this blobby thingie.
Rapier w/ Flank: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 2 = 30 28 w/o flank!
P, Magic, Adamantine, Sneak: 1d6 + 6 + 3d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (6, 1, 2) = 21 12 w/o sneak
Rapier Confirm w/ Flank?: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 2 = 14 Unlikely. 12 w/o flank, which is even less likely
Crit bonus, P, Magic, Adamantine: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Which would make 20 w/o sneak and 29 w/ sneak.
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Just how tough is this thing
As Ragnar brings his axe back around for another 2 handed strike.
axe assault: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 17
BAB, STR, MWK, Focus, Bless, War Mind
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
HP 43, Warmind 8/10 rounds, Warmind Bran 7/10 rounds
Fulk the Red
Fulk takes another swing at the disgusting blob of goo!
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22 Not sure I get flanking, subtract that +2 if need be.
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

"Well fought, everyone!" Adonara pronounces gratefully, quickly stepping back to avoid a tide of glup as whatever holds the globster together yields to the pressure of the collective effort.
Once the thing's collapsed out of the way, she peers through the water for anything interesting that might have been hidden behind it.
Tilorean Vashnarstill
"I think that's more disturbing underwater dead than it was alive. Gonna be hard to get past that without getting some on us."
But he knows that going past it was the whole point, so he looks to squeeze past it, if possible.
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Staggering a step or two forward due to the effort of his swing.
EWW Gross I stepped in it
Ragnar shakes his boots, and wipes them off on the wall trying to get the remains of the globster off him.
Fulk the Red
Fulk stands there slack-jawed for a moment, looking back and forth between the spreading puddle of goo and his knife. Of all the ways to finish it of. Huh. then he shrugs, cleans his blade, and sheathes it.

Yep, that’s what I thought too. If we’ve lost the thread of the plumbing down a dead end for now, I guess we could check the door out from the north of the torture chamber?
“I’m not seeing anything that looks like access to the side of the pumps with the controls, though I was sure… But then again, I don’t have much of a sense for underground tunnels,” Adonara thinks out loud. “We could retrace our steps? And there was also something on the other side of the room with the rack and pillories and all that frippery.”
As she sets herself in motion again, not sure if she hopes she'll get more use out of the spells she just cast or if she'd much rather have some longer peace, she adds with a smile, "Not that I have any objection to frippery. On the contrary! My tastes simply run rather differently."
Onward, to liberation! And maybe a dry(ing) dungeon. :)
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Hey, it looked like it could be the access to me too. So don't worry about it.
Ragnar cleans his axe, and rescabbards it. he then continues to wipe his feet as he goes over to pick up the trident.
he then takes a quick walk around the room while looking around.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 +2 vs stonework

With a nod, leaving Ragnar to take another quick look around the globster’s lair, Adonara’s brought up short when the other door off the torturer’s lair – she marvels again at just how elaborate an operation the Grey Spiders must have run – reveals the people she’s looking for.
“<Goddess’ grace!>” she exclaims softly in Elven as she takes a quick look through all the cell doors, “<Let’s get you out of here! We’ve routed the skum, and though I’m sure there’s who knows what else to worry about down here, we can at least get you out of those cells safely.>”
Without further ado, she sets about getting the doors open. I don’t recall if we found keys on Ungol-Pagh, or if one of the skum that ran away got away with the keys, but we can make Disable Device checks if we have to, I’m sure.
Ragnar Grudgebearer
While Tilorean goes to cut the sea elves free, Ragnar stands guard near the entrance.
Ragnar Grudgebearer
I have a +7 if you care to ask, but unless asked, I will be keeping an eye out for hostiles
Adonara Strixis
|
Adonara keeps her movements and noises soothing as she helps Tilorean as best she can, murmuring reassurances in Elven and making sure that her holy symbol is ready in case she needs to channel a burst of healing energy.
Heal (untrained), to aid Til: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Fulk the Red
Bringing up the rear, Fulk relives Ragnar of watch duty. "My eyes are as good as yours, and those poor sous may need healing. Go check on them, I'll hold this down."
Ragnar Grudgebearer
Aye, I will see what I can do
Ragnar heads into the cells to help with the elves and see if either of the ladies needs help.
Bachu
Bachu moves into a cell an looks at the elf's stitching. He says "I have some experience dealing with wounds, let me see what I can do here."
Heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Daniel Penfold 351
You manage to release the elves without doing them any damage and without causing their wounds to reopen.
They stare at you in shock for a moment as if finding it difficult to believe you have helped them.
"Thank you, thank you, we thought we were going to be sacrificed to the devil."
Ragnar Grudgebearer
They will not be sacrificing anyone if I have a say in it.
His expression clouds over in anger, then slowly clears as he calms down.
Tilorean Vashnarstill
"Your captors have been dealt with. They may have friends we don't know about, and things up in the dry part of the city are going badly. I can't promise someone else won't try to do you in, but you're as safe as we can get you right now."
Fulk the Red
Leaning toward the rest from his place down the hall, Fulk asks "Devil? Is there a devil in this place?"
Adonara Strixis
|
“We’ll do everything we can to keep you safe,” Adonara promises, echoing Tilorean, trying to assess the prisoners’ condition. At least they’re free, now, but she imagines it will take a while for them to find their footing again, especially if they were afraid of being fed to some devil.
“What can you tell us about what happened here?” she asks. “Where did you come from? Kintargo has been dangerous for a while now, with that new tyrant setting himself up as mayor. As for that devil, we’ll find and deal with it. I hate to ask – but did your captors threaten you with what it’s like? If we can think of a weakness…”
A thought crosses her mind, and she glances over at Fulk, "Do you think that's what we heard moving around down the way from the main cavern? I don't suppose you'd know anything about aquatic devils in particular? I mean, down here, it must be a watery type of thing, I imagine, but I've not yet studied the types of hellspawn in detail."
Bachu
Bachu claps the sea elves on their backs as he frees them and then asks, "How did you get here? Do you know the way the brought you in? Did you see anything like controls for something, particularly a pump?"
Daniel Penfold 351
"We are from the village of Acisazi, a settlement along the shores of the Dismal Nitch to the west of Kintargo. We came here seeking the aid of an eleven ally called Shensen but we were shocked to find Kintargo under Thrune control, and learnt our ally was nowhere to be found. Shortly thereafter we were captured by the skum, blindfolded and brought here.
We came here as our village has been under an insidious assault by an aboleth wizard called Menotheguro.
The devil we only heard about from the skum, its somewhere to the west I think, its possible that's what you heard."
Adonara Strixis
|
“Yes, I’m afraid I haven’t heard about her since the latest Thrune arrived,” Adonara remarks, brow knit in concern as she hears the sea elves were looking for Shensen. “I’m sure we can try to help you find her, once we sort this place out, and anything else we can do to help, in the meantime.”
She hopes it’s not too much to promise, or that it will leave the Silver Ravens stretched too thin, but she can’t bring herself to leave other elves just to fend for themselves. If nothing else, her diplomatic side thinks it would close off too many possibilities for a mutually beneficial relationship with Acisazi.
For now, though, the immediate area needs to be secured. As she helps the prisoners to their feet, so they can get their blood flowing again and work out their cramps after being held bound, she suggests, mostly to her friends, since the Ravens are the ones who are going to have to deal with this devil, “We can get you some weapons left by the skum, but you should stay back where it’s safe in the main halls for now, while we attempt … an energetic banishment.”
“Are we all carrying silver?” she asks the others, knowing that many devils are more vulnerable to it. “And how are we for spells and things? Do we dare to press on right away? I can still call upon a few blessings to bolster our arms against anything as domineering as hellspawn.”
Ragnar Grudgebearer
I be thinking that we try to drain this lair first, afore we try for a devil. As for silver, I think I got some.
He grins as he brings up a different light axe, with a thick flat back.
He then puts it back where he got it from.
