Reflex Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
And fails miserably, yet its mysterious powers somehow protect it from the worst fo the damage!
Takahiro and Shardra move around the darkened room in order to prevent further mischief by the gremlins.
@Takahiro:The pair is visible as long as you can see in the dark
Quiella runs her raindeer into the two gremlins but only her companion proves capable to hit them!
Cornered, both jinkins retreat far away from the fight and join their reddish companion who gulps down a potion instead.
Quiella gets an AoO vs Blue it withdraws but passes through her threatened area
The jinkin sparring with Kelumur withdraws as well, for the time being avoiding the lethal half orc!

Out of combat for now
Quiella and Takahiro smash into another jinkin almost killing it on the spot.
Kiboko and Mvumbu unleash terrible damage on the strange creature... despite the amount of punishment the creature still stands and starts screaming in a guttural language:"Mturya ervak! Mturya ervak!!! Larake bubla, ah?"
As it does so it drops on its knees. Hearing him the 3 remaining jinkins raise their hands in the air as well...
What do you do?
Kiboko

Kiboko tries to identify the leader...

... and replies in Undercommon: "Kiboko ttuol yk kar chohchanh robsa anak samreab pelnih . brab yeung pi avei del anak kampoung thveu nowkanleng nih . tae now tinih mean Duergar?"
Kiboko holds up a hand towards his comrades. "Let us hear him out."

Quiella nods. "I agree. No need to kill them."
"Lle rangwa amin?"
She does scan them all with detect evil.
DM Elan Morin

As Quiella speaks to them in sylvan the remaining Jinkins look at each other with a mix of confusion and malevolent glee painted on their snouts.
"Wratak lorekes gergithal du? Ger ikerwe frala deres huuvuert latenp!"
The strange creature answers Kiboko in undercommon:"My name is Wedderwark and I accept to surrender to mighty Kiboko and his mightier friend! All hail mighty Kiboko!", it yells raising its tiny fists into the air before continuing:"The grey ones? No no mighty Kiboko! No grey ones here, only pinky ones passing by! The grey ones left the tools of their nasty godoverlord! Look! Look! They move still!!!"
In fact you notice several objects flying aroundthe outer corridor while repeating the same tasks over and over. A frayed length of rope knots and unknots itself, a bag of caltrop s fills and then empties itself, a nut and bolt screws and unscrews, and coins pass through the air going back and forward...

"I don't suppose they are our missing agents? Nonetheless, we best be our high alert. Do these creatures know the direction in which they went?" Kelumur looks to Kiboko for answers.

Wedderwark prostrates itself before answering Kiboko"The pink skins... they went down into the bowels of earth itself oh mighy mighty Kiboko! Wedderwark found the place empty and settled in! They never came back though... Wedderwark wanted to climb up but the the machine crumbled and she was stuck here with stupid Jinkin slaves! Mighty-wise Kiboko saved them though!"

I'll burn one use of Kiboko's 'Paranoid Observer' boon, giving him +2 to Perception and Sense Motive for the rest of the scenario.
sense motive: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6 well...
Incensed at learning that the jinkins are slaves, Kiboko misses any subtle clues...

So Wedderwark had the key but not the lifting machine and was trapped here! But YES mighty Kiboko... friendly friends are not slav... aherm... "friends" anymore!"
Realizing Kiboko also asks for her magic Wedderwark makes an oily smile and then nods:"Sure, sure mighty Kiboko... whatever you want!

Jinkins, you are free to go! Leave this place and cause no mischief! Kiboko has freed you, but Kiboko will find you if you do evil, and Mvumbu will devour you!"
Kiboko tells the jinkins to go, and mend their ways!
I'm guessing Wedderwack has a key for the lift / elevator? Once Wedderwack has surrendered everything Kiboko and Mvumbu are ready to move off.
DM Elan Morin
|
"The key is not magic!!! Ohhh... take it and leave poor Wedderwark alone then!" the small but vicious creature says as he hands the key to Kiboko while the Jinkins laugh in malevolent glee before disappearing out of thin air!
Having dealt with the gremlin menace and having recovered the rune key from Wedderwark the pathfinder get back inside the elevator and use it to reach the floor below... Unfortunately, a cave-in blocks the passageway that once accessed the level, forcing them to move the elevator down another floor, where it stops. It's immediately clear they will need another rune key if they hope to get the elevator to work again, yet the door in front of them appears to be sealed by a stone door which tightly seals the entryway of the floor. Rivulets of water trickle from the edges of the doorway, suggestingconsiderably more water lies beyond.
What's your next move? Despite being sealed the doors require minimal effort to get opened again...
Kiboko
|
Kikoko asks Zeno or Shardra to recharge his ioun stone using his wand.
"The way beyond may be flooded. Does any of us have the means to see through to the other side?"
Kiboko switches Mvumbu's animal focus to Frog.
Quiella
|
ugh, I overlooked Comprehend Languages on my character sheet earlier. That sucks. Need to find a way to get access to Tongues though.
Quiella frowns at the water. No other way forward... "Let's open the doors and see what's there."
Kelumur

Kelumur takes a quick glance at the door for traps, and attempts to place his ear upon it to listen through.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19+4 for traps.
If nothing out of the ordinary from me, then ready to open the door.
| Shardra - Iconic Shaman |
Shardra was silently waiting for the conversation to end.
”Should we already prepare spells for a confrontation?“
Zeno Loxley
|
Kikoko asks Zeno or Shardra to recharge his ioun stone using his wand.
After taking the fear wand and (unless anyone else wants it more) the amulet, Zeno obliges Kiboko in this regard...with a big smirk on his face.
"My Undercommon's not what it should be," He begins in a conversational tone. "But I believe I might've gotten the gist. Did you really threaten to gobble them up like some kind of fairy-tale giant?" He chuckles.
Shardra was silently waiting for the conversation to end.
”Should we already prepare spells for a confrontation?“
"Know you any reason we should expect another one just yet - much less one challenging enough to merit the use of magic?"
Kiboko
|
"Kiboko told the jinkins that Mvumbu would devour them if they misbehaved. Although they would probably be too stringy for her taste." Kiboko deadpans.
Kiboko holds his breath as the party prepare to open the doors, and pushes Mvumbu to do the same. Succeed at DC25 Handle Animal to Push Mvumbu by taking 10 as a move action.
| Mvumbu |
"Kiboko told the jinkins that Mvumbu would devour them if they misbehaved. Although they would probably be too stringy for her taste."
"Haaaarrrrgghhhh!! Haaaaarrrggghhh!!" replies the great hippo.
She too takes a deep breath...
DM Elan Morin
|
@Takahiro: Nothing evil in the immediate vicinity of the door
At this point I'm positive you want to open the door...
Opening the door allows an immense amount of water to rush into the elevator carriage, starting to flood the entire conveyance FAST!
Now it's time to decide how to deal with this: Walking against the torrent requires a successful DC20 Strength check or DC25 Swim check.
The elevator fills quickly though and things may get worse in a matter of seconds. What's your next move? Map updated btw
Zeno Loxley
|
Zeno calmly looks around for some way to drain the oncoming flood. It just so happens that he himself has little to worry about....
Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Kiboko
|
"If we reactivate the elevator when it is full of water, all of the water should then drain away harmlessly! We need only hold our breath for as long as it takes to move back to the previous level."
GM how long did it take to move between levels? If within a couple of minutes, Kiboko holds his breath and prepares to enact his plan. He will not implement it if a party member objects.
Quiella
|
as a player I'm concerned about possible effects of letting the water from this floor drain down the elevator shaft to who knows where, of not knowing if we'll be able to get the elevator back down again, etc. but I think Quiella is just not quite smart enough to worry about those things.
"Good thinking, Kiboko!"
I don't think either Quiella or Sérié can swim or otherwise survive underwater, regardless
DM Elan Morin
|
@Kiboko: it takes less than the 2 rounds the water needs to flood the elevator instead... Let's just assume Zeno does not swim out of it. Then...
Led by Kiboko's quick thinking, the pathfinders operate the elevator and have it climb up one floor. As they do soo they can hear the raring of the water cascading into the empty chasm below them.
It takes a couple of minutes for the noise to quiet down and then the Pathfinders make the machine climb down... the doors are still wide open and the wet floor reminds you of the amount of water that somehow filled the chambers in front of you...
DO you want to brave such chambers?

As we have the collective stealth capabilities of a herd of rampaging elephants, if there is any intent for stealth to occur I suggest we hold in location and the stealth-based people push 30-60' ahead. There's really no point making collective stealth rolls for the party.
Takahiro moves forward when told the path is clear.
