@Rocket: I didn't give you fire resistance, assuming that 2 fire resistance wasn't worth losing out on a magic missile.

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Ouch. Take 4 fire damage after resistance. And she's on fire.
Burning damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Take 2 fire damage after resistance.

Lynn bats at the flames as she sings, but doesn't miss a beat. In fact, an audience member might even assume that the fire is perfectly harmless for how little she seems perturbed by it.

Rocket and Dora drop the last Hellknight who falls to the floor blazing away like a human torch, the flames lapping up the side of the console.

Lynn thinks it looks like some sort of control console, but what it controls is unclear (she will need to try and get the thing operational - but the screen is cracked and the buttons smashed)

The floor of this room sags strangely, you can tell the structural supports under this control room are damaged and the thing is unsafe and unstable

Janilla looks at her allies, and nods. "See what you can do up here. I am going to go down there and attempt to start put out the fire down there. Rocket, I don't know if you want to join me or not, but I think we might be able to squeeze to get down there."

If that did it, then Move action: Move 30' (did 25' move, but I figure 5' of that was the squeezing through the area). Standard Action: Use the fire extinguisher...it says it can extinguish 1 medium creature per round (1 charge used/rd). Don't know if there is rules on this in the scenario, but it looks like it will take a lot of rounds to do this. At least the suits environmentals will protect me from the smoke...heat not yet (I need a thermal capacitor soon)

Moving past the burning Hellknight, Janilla is halfway through the hole when she spots movement down below...

Fire and smoke fill this immense room. A long and mazelike trench is carved into the floor of the room, brimming with gray mist. Shelves line the walls of the trench, filled with rows of ancient parchments and tomes. The trench forms into a rough circle in the room’s center, creating a small island with three bookshelves standing atop it. The twenty-foot-high ceiling of the room mounts large spray nozzles, each attached to a canister of blue foam.

Janilla can make out (through the smoke) two more Hellknights have been hosing the library with flamethrowers, and they are now currently watching the combat unfold in the control room. She is certain that one of them is Loomarch.

Mid song, Lynn telepathically sends to her allies without losing any of her lyrics "This room's really unstable - we should get out of here if we can! I'm gonna quick check this console in case we can undo whatever they did to it. And no worries, my song will catch me if I fall!"

She steps up to the console and quickly tries to evaluate what it was for and if it can be fixed on a seconds-based timeframe.
Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 Jeez, got the semi-relevant spoiler and nat 1'd the thing I actually wanted to accomplish.

So, a few questions: How well can we see down into the room from the control room? Is there glass, or is it just a balcony? Can Lynn see the Hellknights down below? Also, do the canisters up above look like something we could shoot to release their contents?

At this point Janilla can see them as shes in a decent position and hanging out the window - the rest of you have a blazing Hellknight on the computer terminal and smoke problems of your own making things difficult

Janilla would think that the canisters could be shot, they look pretty sturdy but not something that would withstand a serious hit

Lynn pokes the terminal experimentally a couple of times, trying to work out if between the broken screen and inoperable buttons there are any parts still functional.

I won't retcon what I did on getting out there. On using the fire extinguisher I fee that with 2 Hellknights adding more fuel to the fire so to speak, it is likely better to hit the closest one with a mind thrust.

As Janilla gets out there and sees that both Hellknights are continuing to flame the whole area, she decides that her little fire extinguisher won't likely help much. Knowing dropping the Hellknights is likely the only way to get them to stop torching the place she hits the closest with a mind thrust. Her nose continues to bleed, and a little blood starts to come out of her left ear...the stress of using the spell seems to hurt her a little.

Mind Thrust II (DC 17 Will for 1/2): 4d10 ⇒ (8, 8, 4, 10) = 30 First got a 29, then a 30....RNG for damage is liking me. I am now expecting dual criticals on me (because of Karma) :-P.

"Rocket, I think I need your expertise with a gun. I think the Hellknights disabled the fire suppression system, but I see the cylinders where the suppressant is likely stored. You are a much better shot. If you come out here you could easily shoot one I think."

Not sure if Lynn managed to activate the fire suppression system by using the computer but let's see what we can do is she didn't manage

Hearing Janilla call him Rocket activates his jetpack and jumps out the hole before flying up towards the blue foam canisters.

Ysoki's are small so I think I can fit through without a problem. If possible I'll look for a manual override to start the fire suppression system by flipping a big lever or turning a cog or something

Engineering if needed?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

If the computers check didn't turn them on and I don't see a manual,...how much fire do I estimate shooting one container will cover? If it's 1 container to 1 square of fire ratio we might be better of doing something else first.

Lynn manages to get the terminal operating, clearly the Hellknights were rookies when it came to disabling. She gets the fire suppressant system semi-operational.

Extinguishers:

You can spend a full action to aim one cryo-nozzle and fire a line (40 feet long, 5 feet wide) of freezing foam. This freezing foam automatically extinguishes any flames it encounters - and probably rather unfriendly to living beings

Rocket examines the canister but can't find any override switch of manual nozzles, he calculates that the containers are fairly large, and under significant pressure - if they were burst it would probably be very dramatic.

Janilla isn't certain what to do, except keep the Hellknights busy with her and not working on destroying the valuable scrolls.

"Lynn? Anything you can do with the system? Or else Rocket might have to shoot one to see what happens."

With that, she gives the one Hellknight a bad afternoon. Focusing through the smoke and haze, and the killer headache she is gaining, she does a less powerful attack.

Standard: Hits the same Hellknight she did wit Mind Thrust I (Stepped down from Mind Thrust II to 1 using a 1st level spell slot)
Move: Move 25 feet downward, hopefully to get where she can get either in the trench (if needed), or else out of line of fire of the spray nozzles.

So, are the fire-filled squares on the map correct? Also, does the line originate from the nozzle in the ceiling, or do I define any line I'd like on the ground and it sweeps across that line. Because the first of those two options seems like it'd only put out one burning square at a time.

Lynn mentally sends to Janilla "Yep, sure looks like it'll take some fires out. Alright, here we GO!" and presses a button on the panel to send a line of freezing foam out over the burning shelves.

I kinda want to blast one of the canisters just to see what it does..but I feel that having Lynn operate them might be better for now soooo, let's try to shoot a Hellknight first

Janilla slowly shakes her head. She knows she should not do another spell, but realizes that they need to drop the last of the Hellknights.

Lynn taps away at the console to aim a sweep of the fire-suppressant nozzles. This time round, she tries to catch the devil-bound hellknight with some of the frosty substance. >Line drawn in on the map<

@Rocket: Theres a lot of fire, and it doesn't sit in nice easy lines for me to get with the sprayer. I'd vote for blasting a canister.

@Shifty: Now that Dora extinguished the console, I assume Lynn has line of sight to Loomarch? I'm thinking of sending some magic missiles at him next round.

It was a more a problem of smoke in the library and being difficult to see in there (an incendiary grenade went off, people were burning, as were any unattended objects - but now he's wandering around shooting flamethrowers in the open. You'd need to fire them out through the hole in the wall your friends went out :)

The nozzle fires another line of cold foam across Loomarch

Janilla's mind is splitting. The pain from the stress of the spells is almost too much. She pulls a little more reserve though, and attempts to hit Loomarch one more time with the spell.

A tiny trickle of blood starts to come out of the side of her eye. She blinks and keeps her head about what she is doing. She hops over to get to one of the fire areas near a bookshelf.

Lynn nods to Dora, mentally sending "OK! Go for it! And ice some flames if you can get them while getting that devil guy too!"

She slips down into the hole in the wall (Her scaleform polymorph is small sized, so I'm guessing no need for an acrobatics to squeeze?) and then points a finger at Loomarch as she bobs from side to side. With a smile she sings "~♫♪ I'm not a Phantom, I'm in your face and, I'm here to see it through!♫♪~" and forms a pair of force bolts from the haze of sonic energy gathered around her.

She flicks her finger and sends them unerringly toward the naughty hellknight.

Magic Missile; harmful spells: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11 Nice!

I've also drawn a line in for Dora to follow.

Flying back a bit to avoid bunching up to much with his companions Rocket looks up at the ceiling where the foam canisters are and fires at one of them hoping to cause a downpour to put out a lot of flames.

Janilla makes an "Eeep" sound as Loomarch gets right up in her face. She does a quick look around--almost giving her vertigo as the mental headache she has is so bad--and decides that the best part of valor is getting the HECK away from the Hellknight.

Full Round Action: Withdraw the frack away from a Hellknight. A good Halfling should NEVER be the front line fighter! The Acrobatics is the attempting to get around the bookcase (if needed), as it seems to be taking up 1/3 of the square she is moving out of. Basically, North, then East, then North again.

Janilla sees that Rocket is working hard on the easier way to put out the fire, so she refocuses on Loomarch. Realizing that this might be her last ability to hurt him she does her best to press through the headache.

You have stopped Loomarch and his Hellknights from destroying all the books in the tower, the flames are rapidly extinguished using the remaining spray nozzles.

Examining the texts in the area they were really concentrating on, you find that Loomarch destroyed many texts in the initial purge, but the surviving texts appear to be old planetary surveys,

You recognise that the surveys describe star systems close to the Veskarium, however surviving notes provide nothing else of import or any clues as to why the Order of the Pyre wanted them destroyed

Lynn finishes her song with a jump and a flourish as the hellknight falls. "Yeah! Good job everyone!" She calls out, beaming at her allies.

Janilla seeing Loomarch fall, immediately helps put out any burning embers...trying to save as much of the material as possible. While doing so she will quickly look and if items are salvageable. Additionally looking at the subjects of the scrolls and books.

Don't know if you would let Profession Librarian substitute for Physical science or not. Either way she is also looking at the damage on the books and scrolls and trying to assess the possibility of it being repaired with mend or other magical means. Additionally, she is trying to determine how bad did they (as in the Starfinder) messed up with exploding the canisters instead of using them as fire suppression, and the dousing the books/scrolls with cold

"Oh, Albyran is not going to be happy with Iteration, for allowing these Hellknights to get here. I hope that us being associated with Iteration doesn't splash the Starfinders name with mud. I hope Albyran is okay with us damaging their fire suppression system. Though I do wonder why they used cold versus a good halogen gas system. Vacating the oxygen would be MUCH safer to the books and scrolls. It might hurt people here who can breath, but EVERYBODY should have environmentals on their armor now-a-days."

People who have been around Janilla realize she is mostly babbling, possibly because of the mental trauma she did with the spells she cast, though probably more likely because of her seeing a whole section of a library being attacked and partially destroyed. Especially one-of-a-kind information.

Seconds later a squad of Lorewardens arrives, and a minute or so later Albryan also arrives with more reinforcements and Royo.

Albyran looks about in dismay and then shrugs philosophically. "Thank you for saving what you did...."

Royo adds in excitedly, although also obviously disappointed at the destruction "While researching more information in the Tower of the Oma, I discovered that one of the dispatched relics would have entered the system where First Seeker Jadnura first discovered it. I believe I have traced another object that hurtled into a distant star system in the Vast. I apologise that any other objects of a similar design appear to be untraceable based on the available records though. Still, this is a major find for the Society and a huge leap for uncovering the mystery of the Scoured Stars. It may well be that finding another of these objects could help the Society enter the currently inaccessible system".

Albryan steps forward "Thank you for your assistance in defeating the Order of the Pyre. As a token of appreciation, I'm waiving the entire fee for the research mission and will provide Royo with a sealed tome containing instructions on how to visit the Athaeum in the future"

"Our Curators recognize the Society’s likely need to reproduce this information to rescue their lost agents, and they grant the Society a measure of immunity in replicating the key data they need in order to complete their ongoing mission"

"Athaeum hasn’t seen Starfinders in many years and that the Curators hope to continue working with the Society now that they’ve decided to return from their long silence"

Just before the group is about the leave, Lynn heads over to Albryan and extends a datastick. "Um, here! You guys are all about one-of-a-kind data, right? Well, I put together a totally new song and recorded my performance of it right on that little guy. Maybe you can add it to the Archives?" She smiles cheekily "Put my holo next to the cool dragon, that'd be a great place for a stage!" and winks.

Turning back to her allies, Lynn gives Janilla, Rocket, Royo and Dora high-fives. "That was great! We should go to magical museum planets more often. I'm just wondering... what happened to Iteration?" She shrugs. "Well, doesn't matter right now. Let's get on in that ship and take a group selfie! We won't be able to get any of this awesome stuff in the background, but we can still remember the mission with a memento!"

True to her suggestion, she rounds everyone up and takes a pic with her datapad, which she sends off to the rest of the team (along with a copy to Albryan, just for giggles).

And thanks for running this. It's a shame that we lost Dora for a big part of it but I enjoyed this game a lot. Nice pacing, good roleplay posts. We worked together nicely and I had the feeling that our characters complimented each other (Rocket would have had a lot of trouble in dealing with Loomach if it wasn't for the magic missiles and mind trusts you threw around).

Rocket stands next to the rest of the team with a big grin on his (still soot covered) face - which may or may not still be trailing a little bit of smoke - as Lynn takes a picture of the team.

Janilla frowns as she sees the distress on Albryan's face. "I could help you catalog what was lost maybe? I hate to see such a fine library lose such valuable information just because a bunch of people who hate knowledge destroyed it. Albryan, if I might ask, what were they seeking here, and what information do you think they might have been trying to destroy? We saw the other Loremasters arguing with the Hellknights before we took our own shuttle to the tower. Can you do any elaboration on what happened?"

Listening (if Albryan does any talking) to the information, Janilla nods. "What about Iteration? Are you going to freeze its ability to get back here? I don't know how much I really like that person, but I honestly do think they were trying to help us, and help the Hellknights. I do wonder if the knights pulled a fast one on Iteration."

Janilla, with some soot caked blood on the side of her nose and eye, looks up as Lynn takes a quick selfie. The picture almost has Janilla's eyes as if it was a racoon caught in the headlights...wide eyes, slightly unfocused and a small bit panicked.

Janilla's info is already in that tab. I had a lot of fun. I am SOOO glad I picked Janilla. She might be normally for me to play IRL, but the ability to think a bit on how I want her to speak, and act, is so much better with PbP. I hate to say I might put her 100% PbP (I have Kitkul for that, and likely one or two other characters), but I might have to keep her around as a potential 'backup' for PbP. Lynn, wonderful to play with you again (we played I believe in CanisDirus's Star Sugar Heartlove. Rocket, it is great to see you as a player vs. a GM--though you do awesome in both roles. I do wish Dora would have been able to continue, but I know that sickness and IRL issues should always take priority. Finally Shifty, thank you for GMing, I will definitely keep an eye on any games you post that you are looking for players. I really enjoyed this one.
