At some point, I will need everyone to provide the following information:

For those who are playing playtest characters, provide the information for the character the credit for this game will be applied to.

Boons Slotted this Adventure

Social: Honorary Spider
Starship: Hero of the Stars
Slotless: Marked Field Agent, Star Sugar Heartlove!!!, Starfinder Insignia, True Savior of Tasch, Protector of the Future, Salvation's Delver, Ghibran Linguist, Private Vault
I guess we should also be discussing starship roles? Poppilo is most suitable for captain. Otherwise, he can be a bad gunner.

![]() |

Probably Science Officer then?
Captain
+2 Bluff
+6 Diplomacy
+2 Intimidate
Engineer
+3 Engineering
Gunner
+5 Gunnery
Pilot
+1 Piloting
Science Officer
+6 Computers

![]() |

Donovan is best by far as captain. He is an ok gunner and pretty bad as engineer, pilot, or science officer.
Poppilo's got +11 to diplomacy and +12 intimidate (with Honorary Spider boon). Gunnery is just a pathetic +3.
Mystics don't fare well in starship combat... Sigh...

"Doctor" Vlodkoya |

Captain: +4 Bluff / +4 Diplomacy / +0 Intimidate
Engineer: +3 Engineering
Gunner: +5 Gunnery
Piloting: +2 Piloting
Science Officer: +3 Computers
Like mystics, Wis-based biohackers are... not great at starship combat. Vlodkoya is, at least, trained in a few roles, so he can either be a decent gunner or fill Engineer/Science Officer if the role is vacant.

GM Burd |

Sorry for the delay in posting everybody. Holiday season and whatnot. Once everyone has slotted their boons and decided on their roles for Starship combat, we can progress to the next section of the adventure.
.
I am as of right now unable to look at people's character sheets, so the following is based off of the provided information in previous posts. Currently, the following people would be the best for each role:
Captain: Poppilo Moraeme +11/12
Science Officer: Pangea-Kappa +6
Engineer: Fixit +?
Pilot: Basalt +9
Gunners: Donovan +5, Vlodkoya +3
If any of these numbers are incorrect then just say so.

"Doctor" Vlodkoya |

Vlodkoya's Gunnery modifier is +5, not +3. But yes, it looks like his best fit is gunner in this crew.

GM Burd |

Fixit, I still require the following information from you
Player Name:Character Name:
SFS Number:
Starting XP:
Faction:
Initial Fame:
Starting Credits:
Additionally, if either Fixit or Donovan wish to slot any boons for this adventure, I would advise you to post them sometime within the following week. After this point, I will assume the only boon you have slotted for this adventure will be the faction champion boon for you primary faction.
I have posted a sheet with the statistics for The Pegasus and a starship combat map. Any of you should be able to access them, but let me know if you cannot. I will be starting up the next section of the adventure soon, and we can progress from there.

Yes, Dax, sorry to hear that. Thinking of you...

Sorry to hear that, Dax. If it makes things easier for you, I can bot Donovan through the starship combat encounter. One less thing for you to worry about.

@Poppilo Moraeme
Not so much the effect of doubling chances of crit, but being able to consistently determine which systems get critical damage everytime they cross the Critical Threshold.
What do you mean?
Because I did not think Target System had anything to do with CTs.The CRB states that The next attack made by your starship that hits the enemy ship scores a critical hit on a natural roll of 19 or 20.
Okay.
If that attack deals critical damage, it affects the chosen system.
If you get through the SPs.
But then:
For any further critical damage resulting from the attack, determine which system is affected randomly as normal.
Which means that any CT that is passed is rolled as usual (or not?). I mean, what "further critical damage" can result but passing the CT.
Or has there been another FAQ?

"Doctor" Vlodkoya |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

If you deal enough damage to pass a critical threshold, you "deal critical damage", regardless of whether you rolled a critical hit or not. If, for example, the gunners surpass a CT without rolling a 19-20, that critical is determined by the target action, as per the second line you quoted. If you get lucky and cause multiple criticals in a single round (by either rolling a 19-20 and passing a CT or dealing enough damage to surpass multiple CTs), only one of the critical conditions is dictated by the Target action, as per the third quoted line.

![]() |

Yah, what he said. :)
Parsing the sentences, the 2nd line's "If that attack deals critical damage..." is referring to the previous line's "The next attack ... that hits the enemy ship ...".
Logically, it could not have been referring to the next attack that rolls a 19-20, because that would definitely have done critical damage, so it makes no sense to qualify with "If that attack deals critical damage..."

What is our progress with this scenario? I’m hoping to have this character available again for Outpost in ~4 weeks.

![]() |

I don't mean to pressure you. There is no need to hurry up if we are already on target to finish on time.

![]() |

I'll be going for a short vacation from Fri to Sun. I'll likely only be able to check my games intermittently so please bot where necessary, and sorry for any inconvenience caused...

profession(priest): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Bah. That's 32 credits.

Crunch's Space Pregen |

I remember the rules being different for Starfinder regarding Day Jobs. I don't remember if that meant pregens could roll them if they had one, or you could if the character you were applying credit to did. If the latter is the case, here goes.
Profession (mathematician): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

![]() |

From the guild guide, page 8: "Downtime: Pregenerated characters can participate in Downtime activities as long as they have the appropriate skills to do so." So I think while pregens can do day jobs, it uses the skills of the pregen, not the character you are applying the credit to.
