"..." Wei was going to say something when things really began to hit the oscillating air circulating device. He's an engineer by profession, take it up with him later!
When things go dark, he falls back to the tried and true methods of his people. That awesome roll of stealth before that couldn't get implemented due to snakes on a tree is sadly lost to the vagaries of space time.

It's effectively the spell, darkness, but it's primary function is to protect the lorestone. Everyone can still see as it has only reduced the light level from bright to normal.

A grey blur appears at the edge of the animated greenery and resolves itself into a Quickling with such a maddened look about him, you feel sure it is none other than Cyflymder. Yanking his feet free of the undergrowth, he moved toward the nearby rock, climbing atop it to escape the unwanted attentions of the greenery. As he moved, his arms deftly whipped from one pocket to the next. First, he pulled his tobacco to his lips, then proceeded to pull a black metal sphere from another pouch. It had a wick, topped with a small metal cap, which he pulled of, producing a hiss followed by sparks and smoke. Holding the sputtering wick to his mouth, he lit his tobacco and inhaled deeply with closed eyes. As he exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, he looked at the wick, as if weighing its length, then nodded, lined up his target and sent the metal sphere sailing through the air. "Heads up lady!" He called to Frost as it arched towards her and the Quickling.

Frost moves through the entangling greenery to strike at the maniacal fey swinging her falchion. He is unable to avoid the blow and takes a substantial wound. Unfortunately the creature is too quick and dodges the eagle's strikes as well as Mira's musket shot.
Another Atomie flashes into view as she fires a crossbow bolt at the Aasimar who harmed her master, but it misses badly.
The wily fey leaps high into the air, bounding away from the dangerous paladin like a flea. He lands atop one of the henge stones and lets fly another dagger. Again, little more than a scratch is inflicted, but this time the impassive warrior is overcome by whatever coats the blade and drops down into the writhing undergrowth which coils around her like a blanket of foliage. "The angelic beauty sleeps, well tucked in for her nap! Snipe at me with words and projectiles as you like... you cannot hit the broad side of a barn!"
Frost takes 1 damage and succumbs to sleep. She may make 1 more fort save, DC 15 to wake up, or else she will sleep for one full minute before she can save again.

The tengu takes *off* as all the attention seems to be focused on the party and the entangled area.
"Cover me." he says quietly to Marco just before he takes off.
When it gets around to Wei, he's full-out running (x4 movement) going 'northwards to not the 'next' gap in the pillars but the 'second' gap in the pillars, then cutting completely across and around to end up in the square pictured. Thought you couldn't turn while running.
Your speed tells you how far you can move in a round and still do something, such as attack or cast a spell. Your speed depends mostly on your size and your armor.
Dwarves, gnomes, and halflings have a speed of 20 feet (4 squares), or 15 feet (3 squares) when wearing medium or heavy armor (except for dwarves, who move 20 feet in any armor).
Humans, elves, half-elves, half-orcs, and most humanoid monsters have a speed of 30 feet (6 squares), or 20 feet (4 squares) in medium or heavy armor.
If you use two move actions in a round (sometimes called a “double move” action), you can move up to double your speed. If you spend the entire round running, you can move up to quadruple your speed (or triple if you are in heavy armor).
Didn't see anything in there about not being able to turn while running? Could you be thinking Charge or Overrun?

![]() |

I couldnt find it either at first and thought I was wrong, but its in the combat section and reads: "You can run as a full-round action. If you do, you do not also get a 5-foot step. When you run, you can move up to four times your speed in a straight line (or three times your speed if you're in heavy armor). You lose any Dexterity bonus to AC unless you have the Run feat."

bluedove |

That's correct, you must move in a straight line to run. I adjusted Wei's path for hustling instead and still making it to a square adjacent to the lorestone. Frost will wake in round 3.

![]() |

That is kind of different from what I was thinking. The original idea was to put the pillar between Wei and the Cyflymder, plus the revised route looks like it takes Wei through an AoO chance. He'd be better served stopping a square sooner if that is the route he will need to take, right? Even Tiny opponents can shank the bejesus out of a body. Or is the Atomie too far up to shank properly? Also, sorry for delay in repsonse, was at work. Let me know?

bluedove |

Actually, tiny creatures and smaller have 0 reach... they can't AOO unless you pass through their square. Plus the atomie is diminutive and on top of the pillar. You can safely take the path I laid out. ^_~

I personally would want to do something like that, but will leave it up to the rest of the party.
There are a lot of unsolved/unresolved questions that have come up along the way, plus we could then turn Cy over to the gnomes for justice, which would make for even better relations with the gnomes. The Atomie seems to be a tag-along like Gire, so odds that she knows anything of importance is unlikely, but they may have been involved in the attack so the gnomes might want to speak with her, too?
No, I'm not trying to drag this out too much if we're done, but... it feels like there's more to it?
Wei will make sure the stone gets to a proper storage container as soon as it is practible and feasible to do so. He won't risk exposing the item.

"I am in no hurry, and am prepared to wait for an answer - which would be good to give, as there are other fey who wont be talking the time to listen. You will need a voice, I offer to lend you mine so that sense and justice may prevail, not just blind retribution"

It takes some time and some vigilance, but eventually you encourage the fey to tell you the story of how this bloody day came to pass. The local logging industry is managed within the borders of the Verduran Forest by the Druids of the Wildwood Lodge according to the Treaty of Wildwood. But recently the loggers have pressed deeper and deeper into the wood, going beyond the outlines of the treaty. The backlash of the fey has thus been increasingly aggressive. Cyflymder is clearly filled with hate and rage directed not only at the Wildwood Druids, who are too few now to properly keep the loggers in check, but all of humanity and their accursed greed which leads them to decimate the natural lands. The quickling practiced a ritual to bind any loggers he captured and infuse them with a dark taint of the first world that made them loyal to him.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise we will move on back to the Lodge and transition into the next adventure once I have sent the Chronicles. Let me know what you do with Cyflymder.

![]() |

That... actually hits my points as far as I know. Anyone else? Also, if no one objects I think the gnomes have some words they will want to share with Cyflymder. After all, Hemzel was their friend, right? Also, note of this 'extending beyond the treaty' will be noted and forwarded to appropriate authorities that they may make appropriate reparations.

![]() |

True to her word, Frost ensures the Gnomes know the full story before she hands over Cyflymder to their custody.
She returns to the lodge, ready for her next adventure.

![]() |

Equally important, if the gnomes needs us to stick around for a few days while they figure out what justices to be meted out, that's also going to be done, at least by Wei. Don't need the quickling escaping because the gnomes couldn't keep up with him.

You are seated in the main hall of the Grand Lodge of Absalom, waiting for the arrival of Absalom’s newest venture-captain, a tall, dark-haired and olive-skinned Varisian woman named Eliza Petulengro. Renowned for her composure under pressure and the author of more than two dozen Pathfinder Chronicles entries, she appears in the hall suddenly, a stack of chronicles in her arms, and looks you over before speaking.
The Venture-Captain takes a deep breath before launching into her briefing, “My greatest pupil, Pathfinder Bodriggan Wuthers, has gone missing. He followed a cleric contact back to Wuthers’s home city of Oppara to work on a massive dig beneath the House of the Immortal Son, Oppara’s famed opera house and once temple to the dead god, Aroden. That was a year ago. He sent monthly reports, hoping to see their publication in a chronicle, before all contact dried up a few months back. I’m worried something has gone wrong, and the Society has a vested interest in the artifact he was researching and seeking. We want you to travel to Oppara and find Wuthers. We’d like to know exactly what he was seeking, too, since he neglected to inform us through his monthly correspondence. He hinted only that the cleric of Irori he was working with told him the object was the world’s greatest ‘living’ artifact — whatever that means."
“I have only a few tidbits of information to pass to you before you go: the House of the Immortal Son is nearly impossible to access. It took Wuthers months and countless bribes to get where he did. For you, I have a much simpler idea. Go to an opera, wait for an opportunity, and then exploit it to find Wuthers and his dig site."
She takes a moment to appraise your trappings. “Be sure to wear something festive — the Taldan nobility are arrogant on their best days and if you arrive at the opera dressed like that,” she waves her hands at you, “they’ll surely lose your tickets or regret to inform you that the opera house is oversold. Your travel is arranged, you will have time to gather your gear and resupply before you depart. Are there any questions before you make your preparations?"
Like most season 0 scenarios, this one normally intros in flashback format, but I prefer giving the PCs a chance to ask questions if they have them. You may roll to Gather Information (Diplomacy) on the missing Pathfinder, Bodriggan Wuthers as well as The House of the Immortal Son when you are ready to proceed.
