Malak Wavecrasher
|
Only might be an issue until I get my computer back. Which will be with a week fortunately.
Malak finishes conversing with Maheem and wanders to the crew quarters to find a hammock to sleep in. Upon finding a vacant one he rolls into it and quickly falls into a slumber under the rocking of the sea. Saving energy for tomorrow's work and recovering.
Doc Williams
Feeling oddly refreshed after listening to Maera's shanty, and finding the pirate's games not to his taste, he excuses himself after watching Malak defeat Maheem in armwrestling. "I'll be back later Malak, need to track someone down."
He decides to track down Sandra and thank her again, and see if he can't get some information out of her. Catching as after she leaves Nissa, Ossok, he waves her over.
"Sandra! I just wanted to thank you again for the helping hand earlier today, it was quite the gesture and I appreciate it greatly" he says with a bow. "I must say, it seems like the list of people thanking you is growing quite rapidly! I'm glad I didn't wait in line," Doc adds with a wink.
"So how long have you been aboard the Wormwood? Has this lot been in charge since you've been here? Any interesting tidbits you'd care to share about my new home?"
I'm guessing I don't need a diplomacy check when talking to Sandra since she's "Helpful", but let me know if I do.
(Re: Combat) I'm familiar with Roll20, so that'd work fine for me.
Nissa Alami
Nissa has no prejudices against other races (in particular). All non-Vudrani are out-of-caste so therefore equally unclean. Some just smell worse than others. :-p
I am a daughter descended from the greatest maharajah. The blood of the gods has flowed through the veins of my family for 50,000 years. I can win these pirates over.
After a quick mental affirmation, Nissa meets the other woman's gaze and bares her teeth in a bold smile. "Whomever cut your throat may have left a scar and given you a name, but you still remain among the living. Can she say the same?"
Hopefully, Cut-Throat will laugh, but even if she does not, Nissa continues. "It is not a life I chose, but I expect it will be an adventurous one. Tales are not told of easy lives. Tales are told of bold lives. Riches come to those who are brave. Happiness to those willing to seize it. You look like a woman who would grab on with both hands."
Does Nissa think that she is making headway with befriending Grok?
I'm unfamiliar will Roll20. Is it free?
Diabolito Stormbeard
As far as Roll20, I have no issues with it. I've got an account there.
Diabolito shrugs when she goes quiet. "I'll share mine, if you share yours? Nothing is real good with this ship. Name's Diabolito. Can't say I'm one of Gozreh's finest, but I try to be one with nature, if I can." He extends a hand to the woman.
GM Hills
Malak, I can only see 1-2 combats in the next week and will be pretty simple set-ups.
Nissa, it is free, I'll post a link in a few, I actually set the first combat up a few days ago. I haven't used it before either, but it seems VERY user friendly.
As far as init goes, that was more or less exactly how I was going to do it.
Aramis Steele
Only issue I can see myself having with Roll20 is when I'm at the fella's, and posting from the iPad. Can anyone speak for how tablet-friendly it is?
Nissa Alami
I definitely agree with Aramis about needing maps. Outside of purely narrative based games I have a hard time imagining position during combat without some sort of representation. I'll go google Roll20 now.
GM Hills
As the night winds down and everyone is able to get back to their hammocks, getting some shut eye. As the following day begins, a bell can be heard ringing, no doubt as a wake up call and call to get to the decks for job assignments.
I will assume that all spellcasters have tricks to wake themselves up so they can pray/memorize spells, but if you have something specific you like to do in order to do so, by all means, I would love to hear how?
Diabolito Stormbeard
The dwarf is used to ships enough, so his internal clock is pretty well set to the waking of the world. His grandfather taught him, even in the dark, to find the hour before dawn. Gotta head to sleep to stave off a migraine, so I'll see you all in the morning.
The dwarf appears to have been away for a bit, as he smiles at Aramis. After nodding to her, he heads up to deck, seeming to have survived the rough evening beforehand relatively unscathed.
Aramis Steele
Aramis wakes to the clanging of the bell, and groans loudly. "Doubt ye'd be able to find something more unpleasant to wake up to," she yells in the general direction of the noise, swinging herself out of her hammock. "Though the cap'n's breath'd be a good start!" Damn it all. Not one o' me best. Mus' be gettin' rusty.
She looks around at those who were press-ganged with her, shaking those who seem to be waking slowly, trying to rouse them quicker.
Maera
After accepting the crew's accolades with a flourishing bow, Maera had smiled demurely, and teased that she'd 'Be here all week. If not forever,' to chuckles and grins. Stepping down from her crate, she saw Aramis and Nissa chatting up the quartermaster, and feels confidant that between the three of them, they'll get her in a good mood. The more friends we have here, the better. Her job done for this evening, Maera retired to the hold to figure out just what berth was to be hers.
Even in the middle of the ocean there's still the subtle shifting of the tides, which helps rouse the watersinger slightly before the harsh clanging of the bell. She quickly ties back her hair with a leather throng she managed to scavenge, and wonders what, if any deviation from yesterday's drudgery, today will bring.
Aramis Steele
Aramis grins at the dwarf. "Tha's a good one. I'll 'ave ta remember it. Any more ye've got, let me know, eh? Th' more I can piss off these bastards, th' better. Someone's got ta be th' one ta do it, an' it may 's well be me."
Doc Williams
Hopped in to Roll20 for a sec myself and everything looks good.
Was Doc able to talk to Sandra before calling it a night?
Also, with regards to jobs and spells that provide buffs, I'm assuming that a spell would have to have ~8 hour duration to provide a bonus to your job roll(s) for the day?
GM Hills
Also, slightly annoying is a I had a three spoiler post that I posted to respond to each of the existing conversations last night and apparently it was the screen I received an error golem on. I didn't realize it until you said so, Doc. I'll have to post that again...
Nissa Alami
Nissa is also curious about the bathing situation on board. Although she can keep herself presentable with her magic, ritual ablution is important to her culture.
GM Hills
It's going to be a tough time for that. I would suggest she look around the ship to try and find a dark corner to bathe in...and perhaps talk to someone who can 'Create Water' so she can get some clean water for said bath. Otherwise... I will post again as soon as we get back from Parent/Teacher meeting in a few.
GM Hills
"Hopefully sometime soon, others can be helped to have a better lot than they have right now," there does seem to be a friendly tone in her voice. "I need a bloody drink. I'm gonna go find Kroop." With that, she throws her hand up and waves them off as she departs below deck.
GM Hills
As the group heads to the stairs leading up to the main deck, four of the rougher looking pirates step down in their way, and it is clear that that have ill intent.
You can also see clearly that there are a lot of extra eyes on you, watching what is about to happen.
The one in the lead shoves Malak backwards slightly, "In a hurry?" making it very clear that he and his are not going to let the group by.
Oh me, oh my roll some initiative for me to spy. I'm going to average the PCs Init vs the average of the enemies and have it be entire group goes, then the other goes, and just go back and forth. The first map is up on roll20, Malak, you have a tough right in front of you atm, since you may not be able to have access. Once I get PMs, you will be able to move your own figure, as I will assign them. I tried to find something that would match you character at least a little bit.
Maera
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Maera's eyes narrow at the openly hostile group; she's in no mood to get lashes for being late because some idiots want to have a pissing contest.
Nissa Alami
Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Nissa does more than narrow her eyes, she opens her mouth, "Move, Asprushya, or fight, if you desire, but I have no time to waste on thralls."
Ossok the Scarred
I was already in bed. I'm assuming I'm woken up by this or something?
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Also, word of GM advice: It's a lot easier and faster to roll all the PCs' initiative for them, rather than waiting for everyone to check in and roll. In my experience with GMing PbP, it gets combats moving a lot quicker.
Aramis Steele
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
I, too, am happy for the GM to roll my initiative. If it speeds up the process, I'm all for it.
Doc Williams
Init:: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
DM rolled init works for me
Having woken up to the bell, Doc gets up and spends a couple minutes digging out his bag and whipping together a couple of his personal extracts. Seeing that he's falling behind, he shoulders the bag and tucks the two vials into his vest pocket before running to catch up with the others.
Seeing the group's progress stopped ahead, he comes to a stop, waiting to see what's going on.
Malak Wavecrasher
|
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Malak had been roused by the cheerful female. Feeling slightly groggy from being away from the seas for so long. He had been content on a non-eventful morning. But upon noticing the unwarranted attention on his group he knew something was amiss. As the pirates approached him, Malak could feel his heart picking up speed. I didn't ask for this, but I sure as hell am not one to deny it. As the man pushes Malak, he instinctively pulls his hands up anticipating a follow up. Malak glares at the scum from behind heavy fists. "Come now, I doubt you want to be sent to the locker this early! You all sure as hell be making a grave mistake. Now, howabouts ye all get out of our way before I go through you?" Malak can feel his anger swelling, having such a low tolerance for threats is not helping him keep a level head. All of his features are exhibiting a beast ready to pounce into a furied rage.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Tried accessing Roll20 but it said invalid token or something. My display name is armlessbaby. I also agree with GM doing some PC rolling for combats, like initiative.
Malak Wavecrasher
|
Wasn't sure if combat was going to start on me or not because if so it requires a different action. I'll post in spoiler for DM. I was thinking intimidate would be free action to cause penalty on their rolls.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Unarmed Damage: 1d3 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Entering rage is free action, granting +4 to STR and CON, +2 hp. New STR MOD of 6 added to damage.
Diabolito Stormbeard
I'm gonna go ahead and post Diabolito's action, since I'm gonna go ahead and crash.
Diabolito grins, a slight reddish glow surrounding his fist as he steps forward and joins Malak in the rumble. "'Fraid you bits of chum are gonna need to move! Now!"
Activating Battle Rage, the Blood domain ability, for a +1 on damage.
Unarmed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
Maera
Maera scowls, and starts murmuring the workings of a Sleep spell, hoping to end this as quickly and preferably as painlessly as possible. She centers the spell on their backline, trying to plan for people moving around.
Sleep, DC 14 Will
Aramis Steele
"Alright, then," Aramis practically roars, cracking her knuckles. "Which one o' ye bastards wants ta dance, eh?" With that, she swings a punch at the closest foe, but unfortunately, her head is still groggy from the rum and she misses.
Unarmed strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Nissa Alami
Forgive me. This is where my newb starts showing.
Nissa hardens her hands and tries to remember her mother's instruction. She moves next to Malak and releases all her untrained Vudrani fury on the rudy enemy figure.
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Unarmed Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
