I know. If I keep this up I may be looking at multiple new characters for this campaign. And it was hard enough coming up with the last one!
I'm tempted to go back and make a tally of all of the rolls I've made with this character to see just how badly I've done.
Edit: Ok, I went and did the calculations for all of the d20 rolls I've made on this character in this campaign. Including all skill checks, etc, I've averaged 9.15. A little on the low side but not too bad.
However, if we go back to the beginning of this battle, my average drops down to 7.19. That's REALLY low. I also realized that I had 3 natural ones (just for the d20's) in a row.
Also, I've only ever rolled one natural 20 and I've rolled 4 1's. Ugh.
2nd Edit:
The interesting thing is that it only seems to be the d20 that I'm having such a hard time with. My d6 rolls average 3.37, my D4 is 2.67, and my d100 is 65. So if I could just HIT the darn things, I'd be doing decent damage most of the time.
3rd Edit:
For you statistics gurus, the d20 median is 8, and the mode is a tie between 1 and 18. However, if we just use this battle, my median becomes 6 and the mode 1.
This battle has really not gone well for me. See? And you wondered what all that math in high school would be good for.

Good news!! I'm about to update my games.
Bad news!! If anyone is interested though, my brother decided to prove that a person can fall off a roof and land on their head, on concrete, and survive it. So I figured that was probably a 6 on the 1d6 roll for him, and he's got some decent HP for a first level character.
He is fine, discharged from the hospital and everything. Gave us all a pretty good scare, and he's gonna be in pain for awhile. And I can't smack him in the back of the head for doing stupid stuff for awhile too. Nice to be able to laugh about it now, could have been way worse.

My gosh! Seriously? Dannnnng. I cannot imagine such a scene to where something like that ends on a positive note. Glad to hear your bro is doing okay. Scary.
Man that truly amazes me.

If he's at 0 hp, it'll still take one more hit to kill him -- that or forcing him into taking a standard action so he drops himself below 0.
T5 up in P8 should be marked as Evil-Eyed as well, I believe: -2 to attack rolls. You had it in the narration but don't have him marked on the map.
Good eye, thought I had caught everything. T3 is indeed at 0, not dying yet.
Added tag to T5.

Was going to remark that Bostarg's needle didn't seem so ineffectual to Tatya ... but there is literally no way to say that that doesn't sound dirty.

I hope you don't mind me sharing this here, but it was actually a conversation in this thread about alignment that got me thinking and inspired me to do this. I'm working on alternate alignment rules and wouldn't mind feedback or help in putting this together.

In roughly twelve hours I will willingly subject myself to an eight hour period of physical exertion, sleep deprivation and general sanity slippage.... that is to say I'm flying down to Australia with two kids on a red eye. I shall be doing the christmas thing, familial visitation thing and even attending a ten year University re-union... which should be interesting to say the least.
That will mean that I shall not be my usual self when it comes to internet connectivity and PbP response. I should still get online here and there, but it's unlikely to be every day - and even when I do time will be short so you will have to endure a lesser amount of my usual sesquipedalian loquaciousness. If at any time you feel I'm holding things up, feel free to DMPC... or you know have Bostarg plant latent thoughts of manly love between Kargeld's sailors and their captain.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Krazy Kwanzaa or even Positive Emotion Non-Religious Holiday Vacation Day... depending upon your own predisposed proclivities. I look forward to further electronically shared adventures in the post-Mayan calendar New Year.

Wow, Xmas is over! Gotta say this has been a draining one for me. Hope everyone had a good holiday season (for those who celebrate).
Looking over my PBPs this morning, I realize it's been a bigger interruption than I thought it would be. So going through and apologizing to all my games for the somewhat unexplained absence and getting updates in as applicable.
Looking at where we're at, just checking to see if people are ready to move on or would like to continue speaking with the Yutak. I can move it on ahead if people wish.

I'll mark the river when I get home. The Bugbear encampment is on the north side of the lake (I put the words by it when I put the map up).
As far as the Cardinal's Mansion, if I recall correctly it's about an hour away from Branderscar, but I'll have to check when I get home to make sure.
The maps are nice. Thus far there's been two in each book of the AP. The first kind of depicts how things are at the beginning, the other at the end. With noticeable things marked. I'll be trying to keep it updated, repalcing the base map with the new one as we go. I must say FMG has done a great job on the books!

You know, when I was reading about the numerous bugbears, my first thought was: "Man, how are we going to kill all these things." But then I remembered we want these dudes as our allies.
Talk about having to change your way of thinking. :p

You know, I just this moment when Sakkarot began opening the weapons crates realized the import of the Yutak wanting to trade their narwhal horn for weapons. Completely forgot we even had weapons on board.
I guess that was our opportunity to screw over our employer and/or the bugbears if we'd so chosen. Kind of impressed Odenkirk didn't consider it; perhaps he's not as greedy as Thorn believes him to be. :D
EDIT: Also...
He turns back to the crowd and calls out to the audience gathered. "These humans are my guests."
Sorry, Bostarg and Aedorn; you two will have to fend for yourselves. ;)

Odenkirk isn't supposed to know what was in the crates, only that he was supposed to transport them as well as you all. At least that's what you were told by Thorn, so unless he opened and sealed them back up without you all knowing.....
And yes, you caught me on that one. Bostarg and Aedorn, to the slave camps with the goblins!

Ah, okay. I didn't know how much he knew about what he was transporting. I was pretty sure he wasn't up on the killing-Odenkirk-and-his-crew-when-they're-no-longer-useful part of the plan, anyway.
Will post IC later in the day. About to be busy for a while.

Apologies for the absenteeism, holiday evenings are basically consisting of me welded to the couch with an eight month old on my chest and I've not been able to wrangle posting time until late at night (generally past midnight). Normal service will resume in three-ish days once I'm back at home base.

Just to let everyone know, tomorrow night I'll be attending a work holiday party, then Sunday I leave to Florida for a week. I'll try to make sure everything's as up to date as I can before the party tomorrow, but after that probably won't be able to post until at the hotel Sunday night. I should be able to post every night while in Florida, but if there's a delay it'd be work related. I come back next Friday if I completely disappear during this time for some reason.

Info on the poisons Tatya has prepared, as it's a hassle to try to convey mechanical info in character:
Baneberry poison: Save Fort DC 15; Onset 1 round (injury), 30 minutes (ingested); Frequency 1/minute for 5 minutes; Effect 1d3 Str damage, 1 Con damage, paralyzed 1d3 rounds; Cure 2 saves
Baneberry is from the Guide to the River Kingdoms and isn't on d20pfsrd for some reason.

Sorry no post last night, didn't get back to hotel after 10 (work dinner). Tonight it might be similar, not sure if I'll have time to post, followed by early flight tomorrow. So if you don't hear from me until Friday night, that's why, though I'll try to manage one tonight if I can.

I assumed as the expert poisoner, Tatya applied it to my blades for me.
She applied the poison, so there's no chance of poisoning yourself there, but...
Whenever a character attacks with a poisoned weapon, if the attack roll results in a natural 1, he exposes himself to the poison. This consumes the poison on the weapon. Characters with the poison use class feature do not risk accidentally poisoning themselves.
She can't poison herself if she rolls a natural 1 with a poisoned weapon, but someone else using a weapon she treated can.
