Elxurian |

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
The alert paladin dodges most of the cone and flanks with Llyr, and although she does not aim at a crucial spot, the sheer power of her Cold Iron blade is enough to put down the weaker creatures in one hit!
At the Mephit, or at the elemental if that's impossible/he is dead.
PA Greatsword: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 21! Damage: 2d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (3, 6) + 9 + 1 = 19

Karyne Morozov |

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Purple in the face is right. Between the blast and the other attack, she crumples to the ground.
-1 HP

Nev Morvinus |

Reflex DC 13: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Nev feels the ice shatter harmlessly against his skin but then staggers and swallows back bile. Seeing Karyne fall, he steps protectively in front of her and touches her with a hand glowing gold with healing energy.
I'll use Misfortune on the next thing to hit Karyne to force a reroll.

Karyne Morozov |

Karyne scrambles to her feet and gives Nev an appreciative nod.

Whispers Through The Snow |

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d4 ⇒ 3
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Two bolts of ice shoot from the red mephits fingers, one towards Elxurian and one towards Nev. Their armor begins to get cold, but they both fight off the feeling. Elxurian gets bashed in the head by the swirly whirly for 6 damage. And blue mephit comes down to Karyne, Nev, and Grimkell and opens its mouth releasing the same attack. Everyone takes one damage but is not sickened or resickened.

Nev Morvinus |

Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 2 = 10
Nev steps closer to Blue Mephit and stabs at it with his spear. Unfortunately, the toxicity of the recent ice blast causes him to launch into a coughing fit, and his attack goes wide.
Still planning to Misfortune the first thing to hit Karyne (or myself if nothing hits her this round)

Nev Morvinus |

The blue mephit's 10ft in the air, so only a reach weapon can hit it. Red's too high up for me. :-(

Llyr the Lush |

Which part of him is 10' in the air? His feet, or his head? If he's that high up, cone effects from his mouth may not hit the people directly in front of him and still get the full range. Also, I hate flying foes, without models it gets way too complicated.

Llyr the Lush |

It depends on which part of him is 10' up. If he is occupying the 5'-10' vertical square, you can attack him just fine. If he is in the 10'-15' vertical square, yeah, only reach can hit him, but also, everything at his feet is save from cone effects. We shall see how Whispers rules.

Nev Morvinus |

I'm going off of what Whisper's been telling me. She's been fighting a cold, but I'll try to get her to hop on and clarify in a bit. 3d combat is rough in text format; I had to get really creative with terrain in an attempt to simplify my S&S group's first underwater combat encounter. For now, assume the mephit's are currently just out of normal melee range, but ranged attacks (or an enlarged PC) can hit them.

Grimkell son of Ogmundr |

Grimkell protects his face from the cold blast by the mephit. Once the wind passes by, he nods to Nev for healing Karyne, before unsheathing his sword and attacking the remaining elemental.
The skald swing his sword with the rythm of the saga, interleaving battle cries with the rhymes.
Sword 2handed swing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + (5) + 4 = 11
Inspire courage still on.
Erased my previous thread by "mistake" (but saved it before) here it is reworked for an attack on the elemental and without the precise strike damage.

Lex Bishop |

Annoyed that she missed the elemental, Lex tries again with little result. She can't exactly fire off area of attack spells when her allies were already in the middle of the melee.
Quarter Staff Attack (Imbued, CE, IC+1): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 6

Elxurian |

Erased my previous thread by "mistake" (but saved it before) here it is reworked for an attack on the elemental and without the precise strike damage.
I believe you just won the "weirdest pbp action" from the guy who rolled 30 d20s before rolling for his atributes (which by the way came better than any section of the first 30 dice)...
Elxurian decides to try to finish the last elemental before switching for a ranged weapon.
PA Greatsword: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 = 26! Damage: 2d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (5, 4) + 9 + 1 = 19
She also swiftly heals herself, negating the damage taken by swirly wirly, whatever that is.
1d6 ⇒ 6

Llyr the Lush |

With the mephitis out of reach, Llyr darts around the side to sandwich the final elemental between he and Grimkell, hoping to use their practiced techniques to good use.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 281d6 + 4 + 2d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (1, 1) + (2) + 1 = 10
Confirm?: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 241d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Whispers Through The Snow |

Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Nev Red AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Nev Blue AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Red Reroll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Nev Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Llyr skewers the Elemental, and it dissipates. The mephits swoop down on Karyne and Elx. Red almost hits Karyne, but in a spot of bad luck, gets momentarily caught in a snow flurry and misses (Nev, you suck). Blue Mephit has to dodge tree branches and completely misses Elx. As the mephits fly around, Nev's able to clip Red's wing, but doesn't deal much damage (AoO dealt 1pt damage).
Your turns

Elxurian |

Knowing the flying creatures have the advantage with this much snow around, Elxurian let her sword falls to the floor and draws her bow, shooting an impressive arrow at the Blue Mephit!
Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24! Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14! Damage: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
And impressively lame damage...

Karyne Morozov |

Standing up slowly, she brushes the snow off of her and then thrusts her hand up in the air and creates the firey snow ball she has so often before and hurls it at it.
1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 3) = 14

Nev Morvinus |

Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 9
Nev steps closer to Red and stabs at it again.
If Blue Mephit hits me or Karyne, I'll Misfortune it.

Llyr the Lush |

With the remaining foes flying out of range, Llyr gets himself clear of any area effects and hopes to limit further damage to himself.
Someone just want to move him away from the group about 20'. Can't at work.

Whispers Through The Snow |

Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 6
Red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Red 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Red Misfortune: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Elxurian's arrow bounces harmlessly off her target. Nev hits Red for 4pts damage. Everyone else misses. Both mephits fly over to attack Nev. He stabs wildly with his spear (AoO) as Red flies over but misses. Red appears to claw him once but ends up only scratching a bit of his cloak. It still draws blood, though (used Misfortune, but the low roll was a 20. Take 4pts damage). Blue, however, misses.
Your turns. Both mephits are hovering 5ft off the ground.

Grimkell son of Ogmundr |

Grimkell grunts as he finally sees the mephits come at their level. He instantly drops his bow moves to the nearest ennemy (red) and swing his sword at it.
2handed sword swing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Moved everyone upward to get to go around the mephit.
Inspire courage still on.

Karyne Morozov |

Taking a short step back, she creates another snowball of fire and hurls it at blue.
Touch: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 25
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 6) = 17
Crit?: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 19
Oh Hai!: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 5) = 20

Lex Bishop |

Lex steps up to surround the red mephit, shouting as she swings her enchanted staff two-handed to smack it over the top of its head.
Staff Attack, (Imbued, IC +1): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 7

Crit Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
Double crit round! If only Lex had rolled higher damage. <.<

Nev Morvinus |

Nev mirrors Karyne's movement and takes another stab at Red Mephit.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 13

Whispers Through The Snow |

Blue is dead. OH SO DEAD. It falls to the ground and melts the snow, still burning from Karyne's crazy fire spell.
Grimkell JUST misses red mephit, but it dodges into Nev's spear, then is promptly hit again By Lex, making the mocking grin it flashed at Grimkell last only a second.
Combat over! Sorry for the infrequesncy. Crazy stuffs!

Lex Bishop |

Lex looks down at the Mephit she'd finished off with a blow that had probably snapped its tiny spine in half, picking it up by the ankle and casting a detection spell to see if it wasn't hiding anything on its body. "Well, look on the bright side. If they've resorted to ambushing us, means we're almost to the source, aren't we?" Lex tells the other while stifling a yawn.
"...Right, let's put more wood on the fire and get some extra sleep so we spellcasters can function properly, right?"

Karyne Morozov |

Karyne slumps. "I need sleep. Zhat took a good bit out of me," she whispers.

Llyr the Lush |

Don't worry, we'll let you sleep. It's these damnable winter touched that keep interrupting it. remarks Llyr with a wink before resuming his watchman duties, trying desperately to resist dropping snow on Lex and her magical cloak.

Grimkell son of Ogmundr |

Grimkell doesn't seem to listen to anyone. Actually, once the battle is over he seems to be in a hurry to set a few things straight. As such, before going back to sleep, he takes the bodies of the mephit out of their camping site and buries then further away in the snow. He then proceeds to play a short dirge before coming back to the camp and diving into his covers.
As he does so, it is clear to anyone looking that Grimkell's body shape without his armor is much different than what they would imagine. His shoulders are much less large and well the rest looks strange even though he his wearing ample clothing.
From his covers, Grimkell rearranges his belonging and goes back to sleep.
So... does the stuff our character used during the night (like bardic performance) is fully recovered in the morning?
