I'm getting the feeling that they are going to be on us either way and are using us to 'clear' the dog away so they can get into the keep. That's why they let us through wihout a fight. We deal with the dog, and then they deal with us. Very clever...

The three of us should be able to take care of this dog fairly quickly, I hope, and then if we are lucky the trolls will come down for us and we can put an end to them.

The terrifying trio do a significant amount of damage to the beast in their hasted state.

It snaps back at 1d3 ⇒ 2 Uuranx 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 savagely chomping down on him for 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (6, 7) + 7 = 20 and tries to push him back and off the bridge but his enormous size is unphased by its best efforts.

Randtam sees and recognizes the two trolls, each in a separate tower. They are the two that survived the groups last attack.56

The noise from the waterfall, river, and battle are to great for Randtam to have any chance to hear the sound of locks being turned behind closed gates over 130' away. However, he is able to reason that there must be at least a third creature as the gates were closed at the same time that the two trolls appeared in the towers.

Randtam also notices that the trolls have stopped their taunting of the party and appear a little stunned at how much damage has been done to the dog in such a short period of time. They yell out to each other in a strange language, resulting in the rock throwing troll disappearing from view; the other begins loading its crossbow:

Uuranx and Vraxel combine to cut down the canine. As they do, the gates of the gatehouse open and two trollhounds accompanied by two trolls surge forward. The troll in the tower snaps off a shot at Randtam Xbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 drilling him for 2d8 ⇒ (7, 5) = 12.

Alamin moves just short of mid-way across the bridge and meets the unrushing troll foes.

Randtam is 30' from melee and 120' from the tower troll.

With the fireball effect, Alamin's blow cuts down one of the 2 hounds. Uuranx demolishes the other one with two huge axe cuts.

Can you tell me what the spell is you cast and the DC so I can apply any non-damage effects?

I cast Ear Piercing Scream.(sonic) Targets one. Take full or DC Fotitude saves half and negates daze. Or take all the sound of music. 1st level spell.

The tower troll dodges aside from the ball of flame that suddenly springs up atop his tower.

Vraxel softens up the last troll foe on the bridge and Uuranx makes it essentially cease to exist with an amzing sweep of his axe.

Seeing all melee foes disposed of, Alamin heals Randtam for CMW: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 8) + 10 = 21

Seeing his fellows slaughtered on the bridge, the crossbow wielding troll bolts from the tower and out of sight.

The party easily burns the remains of the trolls and hounds.

Uuranx you are an absolute tank of destructions!!! Did I read that correctly? HastedAttack 70 points of damage. Blades you slice and dice others to their death. Always Alamin, strength (bringing death and healing) when we need it most. Can't wait till next battle. Sure it will go fairly wrong at some point, but we will fight through it. Hopefully.

I have my full compliment of healing pulses and LOH yet today and have taken no wounds. We should push on and try and unravel the mystery behind the Beast's creation and recent events involving it. This Count Caromarc must be held to account for his and its actions. As well, I think there is some other mischief involved here and would not be surprised to find our Whispering Way friends involved with it somehow.
