The strange creatures are unaware of the intruders until it is far too late. Balator and Uuranx savagely hack the two figures down with their deadly blades.
Stacked beside the corpse shredder are three skum bodies and four human bodies—the latter consisting of three males and one female. All have had the tops of their heads cut away and their brains carefully removed with surgical precision. The woman is a fosterling with pale, translucent skin and wide, sightless eyes, who had never set foot outside the skum tunnels in her life. The three men are obviously from the village; one is immediately recognizable as Mayor Early Greedle.
The smell of lake scum and dead plant life mingle with the stench of literally shredded corpses.

You guess the shredding device itself would be pretty valuable given its design and alien nature, but you don't see any way to move it without destroying it.
You notice that a portion of the western wall is formed of unnaturally
smooth stone, as if it were melted and then reshaped like putty. Were it not for the other freakish things you had seen thus far you would be soundly astonished.
Balator
"Alamin, Uuranx, what do you make of the western wall, see how unnaturally smooth it is, can you tell if it was shaped by magic?"
Alamin Silvergleam
Alamin focuses for a while on the wall. It's neither evil nor magic, and it does not seem as if magic was used to fashion it. Maybe these strange beings have some technology beyond our knowledge that enables them to do such things.
She says softly-I wish Randtam was here; I'm sure he could come up with an answer.

Take the exit on the East. (Only one right?)

You head east and quickly come upon another membrane-like door. Seeing no other way, you push through it; the faint feel of slime makes you shudder as you wonder about the means of its making.
The view within this strange metal dome is mindnumbing. All manner of incomprehensible equipment has been set up around the chamber, including a pair of bloodstained metal operating tables surrounded by racks of instruments for vivisection sitting in the center of the chamber. The walls at the base of the dome are transparent, giving a clear view of the dark waters of the lake bottom, but forty feet above, the dome displays an image of a mysterious dark gray planet orbiting a burning orange star never seen in Golarion’s skies, which gives the entire chamber its lurid glow.
Four of the strangely alien-insectoid-plant creatures are at work in this macabre laboratory. Two work on strange metal devices, while another two experiment on a human male, stripped naked and strapped to one of the operating tables with metal straps. Numerous needles and clampsbattached to hoses and leads extend from the man’s body to a bank of cylinders, levers, and dials on one wall.
You recognize the man from your visions in Desna's temple; he is the Black Rider you have sought this entire time!
The creatures click and warble making strange noises that you believe to be those of excitement. The machinery begins to whir and hum with additional intensity. Their agitation and the noise mask your entrance, granting you a free round of action.

Casts
With this blessing, you call your allies to move forth and empower them to conquer and become victorious. Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).
Increase its speed by 30 feet.
Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.

As the combat ensues the Dark Rider's head explodes and you can see a mass of tentacles, similar to the priest that you encountered in the ruined mansion. This time however, the equipment in the dome sounds off with a riot of flashing lights and buzzing alarms. The Rider's entire body darkens and swells before suddenly bursting like an overripe tomato.
A hoofed, treelike abonmination with writhing tentacles and gaping mouths rises from the rider's ruined corpse and bloats to its full monstrous size. Freed of its restraints, the creature attacks!

Activate Bastion of Good
At 1st level, a sacred shield can call upon the powers of good to defend her and her allies against evil. This ability functions as smite evil, except that the paladin gains no benefit on attack or damage rolls against her target. Instead, any attacks the target makes against allies within 10 feet of the paladin deal half damage. Attacks against the paladin deal full damage, but the paladin gains a deflection bonus to her AC equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) against attacks made by the target of the smite. This bonus increases by +1 for every four paladin levels (to a maximum of +6 at 20th level). As with smite evil, if the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, her bastion of good ability is wasted with no effect. Feats, abilities, and the like that increase a paladin’s number of uses of smite evil per day increase a sacred shield’s uses of bastion of good per day.

The massive abomination finally falls to the fell blades of the party. As it crashes to the ground, outside you can see a roiling tangle of flesh and hair and colossal tentacles, interspersed with mouths, fins, hooves, and other appendages, and thousands of dark, staring eyes that seem to open on vistas of unimaginable star-studded darkness and pierce your very souls.
As the tree-thing dies, the colossal creature outside the dome is sucked back to whatever plane or place it originated from. A backlash of alien energy surges through the equipment in the dome. The dome shudders as sparks fly from the mysterious devices, and cracks form in the dome’s metal skin, allowing the lake to pour in.
You realize that before long (maybe 10-15 minutes) this entire complex will be underwater.

In a metal storage bin near the operating tables you find what must have been the Dark Rider's possessions: A suit of shadow mistmail; +1 wounding sickle; belt of giant STR +2; 155PP; 500GP diamond.
There is also a bone scroll case with a parchment letter that has the seal of the Whispering Way on it.
"Necrophagous secrets whisper
Through chronicles of Raven’s tongue”
These words, no doubt familiar to you, are your
next task. Take the Seasage Effigy to G.L.
in Illmarsh. He will exchange it for the legendary
mace. When the item is in your possession, join your
partner in Caliphas, and the Carrion Crown can
finally be completed.
For the glory of the Whisperer,
A.A.
Finally there is a queer green stone idol of some octopoid creature with seven tentacles-The Seaside Effigy, stolen from the Lepidstadt Univeristy!
This peculiar idol, carved from some unknown green stone,
depicts a seven-legged octopoid figure with a horribly
grinning face. Also known as the Seasage Effigy, the Face of
Dagon is a sacred relic of the ulat-kini. The bearer of the idol
can breathe water (as the water breathing spell) as long as it is
in her possession. In addition, the bearer can cast commune
once per week to contact Dagon or one of the Great Old
Ones or Outer Gods. Each time the Face of Dagon is used in
this way, however, the bearer must make a DC 20 Will save
or suffer insanity (as the spell) as her mind is opened to the
horrors of beyond.
It is worth 27,000 GP if returned to the University.

The trio of adventurers make their way back to the submersible (surviving the swim and crushing pressure) and are drawn back up by an excited Croon.
On the return trip to Illmarsh you fill him in on what you saw and experienced. After hearing your description Croon decides to turn his inventiveness in new directions. You know, I've always wondered if I couldn't do more land based experiments. Now seems like the perfect time to work on the cargo catapult idea I've been thinking about....
Returning to Illmarsh, the town seems subdued. The Mayor gone, the priesthood slain, scattered, or fled; things seem to run along like normal but with a bit less of direction and more chaos. You find Randtam recovering with Vraxel.
Now is the time to LEVEL UP!
Aaaaand resupply and think about what to do next.
:D

My friends. I see you again. I did not think I would ever see you alive. Tell me what happened. I am happy you are alive.
Alamin Silvergleam
Alamin throws her arms around Randtam, crushing him in a grip of steel and love. We thought you lost Randtam; but by the grace of Light you are here. You have taken part in defeating a mighty evil and recovering a powerful artifact of weal. Whatever happens next your name will be listed among the mighty.
She proceeds to tell him all the details of what happened after he escaped. It is clear that she thinks nothing less of him for his action, but is just elated to know that he is still alive.

Later, after the party has rested/leveled/resupplied but before they leave Illmarsh for whatever comes next Alamin approaches Randtam.
I know you have argued that you were not worthy of sharing in the spoils of our last push beneath the sea. Despite all of my skills at persuasion you have resisted. I look at you now and do not recognize the man I first met at the Professor's funeral. You are truly transformed and made anew.
She reaches into her pack and pull out a beautiful necklace with a sun medallion hanging from it. It is a clear depiction of the holy symbol of Sarenrae. Alamin offers it to Randtam.
I had this made for you to recognize the change in your life. I do not expect you to change your faith and beliefs, nor does my Goddess, although I'm sure she would delight in a new follower. It will replace the one you have now and provide you some additional physical protection. Let it be a symbol of our troth as we face the darkness to come against the Way.

Assuming that Randtam translates the necril note for us:
"Are we off to Caliphas then?"
Alamin Silvergleam
Seems the right course based on the Black Rider's note. Although what we are to do there is unclear.

I, I am not sure. You are all alive when I thought you were dead. I let you down. I do not think I can accept this gift. As much as I disagree with you, I honestly trust you when it comes to my life. Ihave almost met my death more than once now. I have very serious decisions to make. i](Feats...I am way behind on these)[/i]

"I thought you were the intellect of the group Randtam, stop being foolish and take the amulet! Unless there are any other ideas, let's get on the road to Caliphas, the Professor would be counting on us to stop the Whispering Way and we will not succeed without you Rantam."
Randtam
Randtam stares sternly at Bala something...
You are a fellow adventurer that is all. You kept my friends alive when I could not. For that I owe a debt of gratitude. But do not presume to chastise my inner struggles or question my intelligence in any way shape or form.
