Scored in the 54th percentile on the GMAT yesterday. Losing power (and accompanying preparation time) surely didn't help, as I consider "average" to be a poor score (plus a timed, standardized test is complete BS as a measure of real-world performance but hey we all gotta jump through that hoop). I'll try and get caught up with Gameplay this weekend.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Congrats on finishing the test. I took the GMAT about 15 years ago. I recall it as yet another foolish multiple guess standardized exam designed to separate those who are good at taking foolish standardized multiple guess exams from those who are not. Because they were so much fun, I have also taken the multiple guess GRE, LSAT and Illinois Bar exams. They are all pretty much the same thing, how can we confuse a sizable portion of the population by giving them screwed up questions that they will get all worried about and answer wrong.

Luther, if you weren't already aware, I thought you'd like to know the next Vorkosigan book is scheduled for release on November 1. If you're impatient, you can buy the advance reader copy e-book (like I did... hehehe).

Glad you enjoyed them as much as I did. I am currently just starting Brian Sanderson's Mistborn. Not bad so far.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

It's Brandon, actually. ;)

I've read all of Sanderson's books (excluding the Alcatraz YA stuff). He gets better with each. The most recent one, The Way of Kings, was fantastic (and the first of a planned 10-volume series).

Aasimar Cleric 2 {Initiative +1, Perc +5; F/R/W 4/1/8; AC/T/FF 14/11/13; HP 16/16}

Mistborn series was good. Love the vorkosigan series too. And if you like vorkosigan, have you tried Harrington?

I'm looking for something similar as I have reread Harrington a few times, and vvorkosigan twice.

Side note, i'll be home on Thursday.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

I wish I had time to read more. Darn inconveniences like work, family and life.

Way of Kings quickly became on of my favorites

I had a 12 hour day of unscheduled work...sorry...

If you're referring to David Weber's Honor Harrington series; I've read it several times as well. I've read pretty much ALL of David Weber's books, excluding only the Safehold series and a few other random novels.

As for Sanderson, the man is a machine. According to his blog, the plan is something like this (each about a year apart):

A Memory of Light
Stormlight 2
Stormlight 3
Elantris 2
Stormlight 4
Stormlight 5

After that he gets more vague, but there will be an Elantris 3 and a Warbreaker sequel (already tentatively titled Nightblood), in addition to two more Mistborn trilogies (one an urban 20th C, the other futuristic). Plus other series, such as Dragonsteel that we don't know anything about except he had the first one written to a complete draft but he didn't like it so scrapped it for now.

*Just sits there and not knowing what to do.*

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Yup, and I suppose that will sort of define what type of animal companion I will get in a few levels.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So, what's everyone's plans for the 4th? I'll be at work, since I used my holiday to take the day off for my birthday in June instead (flew a plane, got drunk on a boat - whee!).

Female Elf Transmuter 2 {HP 12/12 | AC 13 FF 10 T 13 CMD 15 | F/R/W 0/3/3 | Init +3 Per +2}

It's a holiday we're open, so I'll be at work too (but only a short day).

Male Human Ranger (Freebooter/Trapper) HP 22/25 AC 17 (18 with Shield) FF 14 T 13 CMD 16 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +0 Init +5 Per +5

Every year we go to the local parade where my brother starts it off by firing his cannon. Then later we'll watch fireworks if they don't get called off for being too dry out.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Cannons? Awesome. My ex-uncle had a Civil War cannon in his family he sold a few years ago for $15,000.

But yeah, the weather this year is bizarre. Torrential rains and flash flooding just two weeks ago, and now it's super dry and I have to water the lawn every day to keep the dog from killing it completely (which happened last year when I didn't water).

Oh, Genisen - I dropped out of the Slumbering Tsar recruitment. I couldn't make a Tiefling character interesting enough to play... stupid Tiefling requirement (and the other Bard getting dibs on duelist, lol). At least I'll have Durnak's campaign to apply for, soon. I've already had one campaign die completely, another is on the ropes, a third is... slow, and lost half its people already. The usual for PbP, in other words. Good thing we have Wayward Kings!

Swimming in our pool, grilling out, and drinking beer.
Down in Melbourne, FL, it is so hot, you want to be in water or air conditioning on July 4.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Yuck - Florida in the summer. I worked there one summer and hated it.

For me it will be working on my yard and then having a barbecue with the family. Pretty simple. One of my boys has a great fear of loud noises, so no fireworks for us.

Male Human Ranger (Freebooter/Trapper) HP 22/25 AC 17 (18 with Shield) FF 14 T 13 CMD 16 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +0 Init +5 Per +5

I saw you dropped out. I was having issues for a bit too coming up with a concept. We'll see how that goes. Maybe if I don't make it I'll run slumbering tsar

Aasimar Cleric 2 {Initiative +1, Perc +5; F/R/W 4/1/8; AC/T/FF 14/11/13; HP 16/16}

sleeping in and relaxing around the house will be my 4th desire. reality will be something else, we just had two foster kids placed with us, almost 3, almost 4. So up early and chasing kids all day.

It's an american holiday so will probably just be doing the usual thing in jolly ol' england here.

Though I would like to see if I can get a chance to meet someone I've been talking to online for a bit ;)

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Good luck Krol.

Fearghus, if you need another PbP, my dwarves could use a paladin and my elves could use a cleric. Unlike Genisen's groups, I have to replace players continuously. I think the elves have went through more frontliners and divine casters than Spinal Tap went through drummers.

As for Slumbering Tsar or Rappan Athuk--would be up for those anytime. If anyone can take on runnning more than two PbPs at a time, they have my admiration.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Luther, I'll think about it for a day or two and see what kind of character springs itself upon me. I'm not sure about playing another paladin, as I'd like to avoid getting into a rut of playing the same characters all the time (though I think I'm doing pretty well with this one, RP-wise).

I have both, at least the older Rappan Athuk at this point. I'd like to run the latter but need to decide if I should wait for the new version to come out. I've played a bit of it, but all three time the GM who ran it we started new characters or stopped playing a s a group.

Did you go in for the Kickstarter?

EDIT: I did; apparently I'll be getting the full PDF as soon as the book is done, even if I'll have to wait another two months for the print copy.

I didn't although I wanted to, doing a bathroom remodel so I've been guarding my expenditures until it gets completed. It will eventually be mine some day one way or another

I'm working everyday until August 4th...Sorry. I'm posting in gameplay right now.

I'd like to remind everybody the GAME IS NOT DEAD! I've had a week from hell, and no internet access. But that was last week. I should have a post every 12 hours until August 4th...

--I've been working too much, so please excuse me if I'm a little slow getting posts up. I'm also changing jobs at the same time. This is maddness. Things should be normal by, about, September 1st.

Female Elf Transmuter 2 {HP 12/12 | AC 13 FF 10 T 13 CMD 15 | F/R/W 0/3/3 | Init +3 Per +2}

Just giving you a heads-up that at the end of this month (July 31), I'll be leaving town for two weeks for work. I don't know the status of an available internet connection while I'll be gone, or how much free time I'll have, but I'll post as able.

After that, I'll only be back for a day before heading to Gencon afterwards, getting back home late the 19th. So between those two dates I'll be sporadic at best, possibly unavailable. Sorry for any inconveniences this may impose.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Hey Durnak, how're things going for prepping ToEE?

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Almost ready to start recruiting. Unfortunately work has gotten in the way. I think later this week if all goes well I should post it.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

That's funny: 48 hours after my MBA application was submitted, I get my acceptance notification. Clearly, they are eager to take my money! I suppose it also helps that the bulk of submissions for this fall have long since been processed.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

I am sure I am going to regret this, but here is the Temple of Elemental Evil Recruitment thread - have fun.

Temple of Elemental Evil Recruitment.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Dotted it; halfling druid. And yes, you shall surely regret posting that - you'll have a great deal of characters to have to wade through!

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

I am already seeing the half finished ones and the odd ideas. I plan on trying to post comments whenever I can, but figure that it will take a while to wade through.

What I am already seeing is those things that I figure annoy all you DMs. For instance if you post a character and it has a fairly brief background from another campaign that you did not make it into, either DELETE IT, or clean it up. I understand that drafting a long detailed background takes a while. Mine tend to probably be too long and involved, but give the DM a lot to play with if he or she wishes to tie things in. But if your background is short and halfass to start with, then at least FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!.

Ooh, Ooh, I'll submit a Lawful Evil Ogre Samurai, with a feat for Gunsmithing! Don't really have a backstory, just think it's cool!

/sarcasm ;p

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Really, I think the goal would be to say you have never played or even heard of ToEE and then submit a CE female drow noble summoner who worships Lloth would be the way.

I like the Ogre Samurai, but I would say going Ogre Mage might be a little better.

Female Elf Transmuter 2 {HP 12/12 | AC 13 FF 10 T 13 CMD 15 | F/R/W 0/3/3 | Init +3 Per +2}

I did an ogre mage once, classed as a fighter. Table-top game for a homebrew evil campaign in 3.5. I specialized in cooking of all things (including people of course, but never ogres; that would be cannibalism and I wasn't a savage).

We ended up in Krynn (long story), and disguised as a human I opened up a soup kitchen for the homeless on the city's money. I would then recruit the homeless in fight to the death fights, the survivors becoming my personal little army. Of course the amount of homeless decreased so it benefited the city in it's own way, and my little group of soldiers became enforcerers for the groups underground syndicate thingy.

I really didn't pay much attention to the politicing part of things in that campaign, but I had fun with what I did do.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Nice - I took about a 20 year break from roleplaying from just after 2ed was released until I started playing PF last summer. So, no real 2ed, no 3ed, no 3.5.

hehe...Sorry about my crazy schedule. Yesterday, they turned off the water for 24 hours. Ever go to work without a shower in summer? yuck.

Whoa, talk about a shocker.

I'll be reading through the archives and if HarbinNick wants to see where I was going I'll gladly send him my campaign notes that I had made.

I do want to apologize though. What I did was not fair to you guys and I hope that you can forgive me. I overestimated the amount of freetime I would have and severely underestimated the amount of work it would take to keep two homebrew campaigns running. Anyway, I wish HarbinNick luck and I will be following this.
