Game Master DEWN MOU'TAIN

51 to 100 of 119 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

oh wait, i remember....

dodge blow is a base skill, open to anyone to take.

there's more, but that one i had to post asap

Brandr if you're still dooming, I'll take a prophecy!

DOOM: 1d100 ⇒ 18

Dooming is almost specifically all I do.

18 = "As thee began, so shall thee end."

I don't even know. You're gonna get turned into a baby by a witch. Oh, Sigmar bless us! You're a baby in a human suit! Guards! SOMEONE CALL THE GUARDS!

Or I go out naked and screaming. So I adopt a "never-nude" lifestyle to prolong my life.

kdtompos wrote:

You forgot "and covered in blood". :)

I think only human characters would have a dooming. Maybe halflings too, but elves follow a different pantheon. which is too bad cause they sound fun.

Torillan wrote:

Alrighty...here we go for me Halfling:

[dice=Fel:] 2d10 + 20
[dice=WP:] 2d10 + 30

Just realized I mixed these two up for halflings. Consider them swapped.

For the sake of TRUE random, here are the rest of my Halfling Outlaw's rolls:

[dice=Height 3'4" plus]1d10[/dice]
3'10"
Weight: 1d100 ⇒ 44
100 lb.

1d100 ⇒ 57 100 pounds

hair color: 1d10 ⇒ 7 light brown

Halfling name element 2: 1d100 ⇒ 14 er

Okay that's about it. I'll summarize in another post

Just missed my doom and a roll for a second potential career.

doom: 1d100 ⇒ 95 Thou shalt stand like Wymund until Shallya courts thy enemies.
Is that cryptic enough ?

second career: 1d100 ⇒ 81 Tomb robber

Tomb or Grave that is the question? I'll chose depending on what ideas I've got for a background.

Hand Weapon: 1d100 ⇒ 43 Won in a local sporting competition...

I will get some backstory up tomorrow it is the middle of the night here.
I don't get what you mean by anyone can take dodge blow as a skill. Do you mean we can buy it with xp no matter what career we have or do you mean we all get it for free?

Klara was born in the Klausner farmstead in northern Averland, where she spent most of her early life. While in her teens the farm fell on hard times, bandit raids cutting most of their income, her family were forced to leave their jobs and home and have worked odd jobs, working their way slowly northwards.
Leaving then soon after reaching adulthood, Klara spent a few years working as a servant in a roadside Inn between Untergard and Grimminhagan.
However after a an unfortunate encounter with the owners son, who was getting a little too forward (who was still a little annoyed at her for winning the local race and inheriting the famous Klatschenhammer), Klara has decided to move on and try her luck in the big City further North.

It has been a little while since I last WFRP'd, so if I've screwed anything up please tell me.

Background

Spoiler:
Fanriel stands frozen in shock, like one of the whispy aspens that surrounds them. The moment would be silent save for Rolph's intermittent choking and hurling, as well as the tall elf's spastic profanity. Bile and damnation tend to overpower the serenity. The young man has been vomitting for the past minute and a half, and despite the now desolate gut his body continues its futile cleanse.

At their feet lay the barely recognizable corpse of little 'Magpie.'

Not many knew the halfling's real name, though rumor of the 'Magpie' had covered quite a bit of ground. He had shared his birth name with the length elf only once, which she committed to memory even as she continued to refer to him by his trinket hoarding moniker. He was the whole reason she took to the forest--drawn in by his wit and that tiny mustache, so perfectly waxed.

"Long arms like those..." he had remarked, with a wink and an appreciative whistle, "could draw a bowstring further then I could stretch with my whole length. What'ya say 'legs'?"

But now the bastard lies in a heap of his own entrails, minced as if by some pack of vermin, or a few man-sized ones. He was certain he had heard something in the dawning hours, but probably wishes now that he hadn't. Come to think of it, it's doubtfull that pile of hamburger wishes or thinks much of anything at all. The remainder of his trio, Fanriel and Rolph, get to do the bulk of that now that they find themselves leaderless.

They had worked these hills, covering the sloping roads up to Middenheim, for only a couple of weeks. Little 'Magpie' had the silver-tongue, Rolph had the muscle, and Fanriel was getting better sniping from the woods. Though more often than not she only offered cover fire, or the appearance of someone far more proficient. She enjoyed learning, but more honestly she enjoyed 'Magpie.' She had rather grandiose and fabricated dreams of the two of them running off together (her at a much slower pace, given the discrepancy in stride), though she never had a clue of whether he felt the same way. He had given her that gold tooth that now fills the rather noticible gap in her lower jaw, and would have to suffice as her only token of the rakish halfling--because nothing else was gonna be recovered from that mess.

"What do we do now?" Rolph asks, still pale faced and exhausted. They are the first words that have been spoken since the two found the body moments before, save for the same curse Fanriel continues to repeat in rapid succession. She suddenly stops the string of profanity and turns to face her muscle-bound and nauseated partner.

"You go south," she commands, answered by a nod, "and I'll go north." The second half is met with a curious look from the brute. "Because whatever did this probably isn't far, and you reek of vomit. I bet they love that."

I prefer the snippets to the exhaustive background. But let me know if you prefer the latter and I'll flesh it out quite a bit more.

There we go. I've put everything under the alias, including a lengthy background inspired by kdtompos.

Nargond's backstory:
Another day passes with snow, and I wait. I skulk the forest, watching for a food beast. It has been six days, and still there is no message. I work the axe and the bolts upon a stone until they shine with sharp. I work my skulk and my shoot upon the beasts until there is no hunger. It is terrible on me, listening to the blubber of the city dwarfs. We must be patient, they say, we must wait for the human officials, we must wait for the negotations. Always we must wait. Working a craft until its lines are perfect, that is the art. Working a craft until it becomes a shapeless mess is inferior. We, the dwarfs, know craft. I, Nargond, rancor against this waiting. Schemes fester when work is waited. It is not the art.
...
There is rumor of illicit skulkings in the ale house. I have no work, I say. I will place scrutiny on the skulkings. I will find the unscrupulous culprit and slash its throat meat. I will solve this scheme.
...
Two nights of ambush. Tainted stableboy was culprit. Boy human, vandaled the horse of a nobleman with flesh. I worked murder upon the foul creature. His blood stacked on the ground and on the walls. Sheriff got informed, I told him beware the taint. He bellowed me there was no taint. I showed him extra arm of boy human, he did not see it three times. Sheriff complained lack of evidence. Oh, that unscrupulous sheriff! He does not understand taint. I am bewared of Sheriff. Unscrupulous guards required coins for cleaning of stables and murder of horse. Wolf beast is to be blamed, they bellowed. I got no reward for solving scheme. At least I bring no shame upon dwarfs.
...
A score and seven days have passed, and I contain bile for Sheriff and city dwarfs and waiting. I spoke with city dwarfs again today, they bellowed at me for vandaling their talk. I do not want to be made outcast. A dwarf is adamant against threats, I bellowed. A dwarf braves! No illicit skulking, no illicit extra arms, no vandaling of horse beast. I am not unscrupulous dwarf. City dwarf glared at me with malice, bellowed I will take message north, to human Middenheim city. I have heard the stories, I do not wish to go. But, I am not unscrupulous dwarf. I do not question city dwarf to his beard hair. I will take the message. As I left, city dwarf laughed with malice. He bellowed at me what "Middenheim" means.
...
Three days on the road to Middenheim human city. I feel observed. Illicit skulkings, I am bewared. I have seen no food beasts. My blades shine with sharp, but they go unused. A dwarf does not coward. If ambush is attempted, it will be to my excitement to give them sharp death. A dwarf knows this to be kindness, corpses do not suffer. I do not look forward to human Middenheim city. I, Nargond, make useful. This message will arrive. Nargond endures.

Just checking, can we use Shallya's Mercy? I remember someone asking, but not a response from Mizzenmagnus

Dark Archive

It's part of the core rules, so I would have thought so.
I was querying because I misremembered and thought that Shallya's Mercy was a re-roll for any part of the character creation, when in actual fact it replaces one stat roll with a roll of 11.

Works ramping up so will have to step away from yet another promising recruitment!

Enjoy the grimness you lucky people.

Cheers

backstory:

Elthaslas Palemoon was a long way from home. The Great Forest was almost the entire length of the empire away from Middenheim the human city Elthaslas could see in the distance. Elthaslas would normally never have come to a place like Middenheim he preffered the shady glades and hidden clearings of his home, but when grandmother gave a command it was obeyed. Grandmother had decided that since Elthaslas was not involved in preparing for his cousin's wedding he could carry the news and invitations to family members living outside the Great Forest. So here he was with one final invitation in the bottom of his pack, and the knowledge that second cousin it was addressed to was in Middenheim, somewhere.

I'm not really happy with the backstory but couldn't come up with another reason for an elf that is a hundred years old to have left his home and traveled the whole length of the empire to visit a human city.

Should have a complete character by tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm in the middle of three 12 hour shifts in a row.

i could be evil and say no to Shallya's mercy, but i wont. Spinning dice is correct, it is a base addition of 11 to the stat.

Jeepers, Torillan, don't forget to get some sleep eventually. :)

it's available to everyone, no matter what career you are in.

you have to spend xp to get it.

Tvarog wrote:

I will. Thanks! For reference, I work in a suburban ER...and its a full moon week! WooHoo!

before i go into a tangent, let me ask this, are you a nurse or doctor, or some other health person that helps care for injured/sick people?

My sister drives an ambulance, so she has similar problems occasionally.
(ETA: The long hours/lack of sleep thing)

RIZZENMAGNUS wrote:

My official title is "Clinical Care Technician"...basically a nurse without authority to give meds. Otherwise, I can do everything else (IV/blood draws, Foley caths, splinting, etc.)

I get occasional minutes throughout the day to check posts, just don't have all the rules here with me!

So, posting isn't an issue, in case anyone was curious.

no, i wasnt worried about that. i was more concerned about working 36 hours straight and performing all of those duties on a living person.... i did 48 hours straight in iraq and those last 14 hours were a blur, and the only thing i was doing was return fire.

Oops...I should clarify. These shifts are 11am to 11pm for three days in a row.

I get some sleep, but free time is scant. I get up early to get the kids to school.

Sorry for any confusion.

Torillan's PC here. I have a little bit more info to add, hope to have that soon.

Sorry for the delay. I will have everything up by tonight. Had two long days at work plus one of my daughter got a stomach bug :(

Hope she feels better soon! Been seeing quite a bit of that in my ER...

while i like your background, i dont think it fits within the context of being a runebearer. I know you stated that you never played WFRPG. So just to further explain, the runebearers are the messengers between dwarven holds. The way you portraid your dwarf, he was more in line with an outlaw than runebearer..

mostly done, working on background

Sent you a PM, Rizz.
