"Welcome to the First Annual Tournament of Gorum!"

The crowd cheers.

"For your entertainment we have sent out invitations to many worthy competitors across Golarion! Here are the competitors!"

The crowd cheers even more ferociously.

"Azoth an Aasimar, Dakar the Ugly a Hobgoblin, Arsok another Hobgoblin, Jaron Musashi a Human, Glor a Dwarf, Bob the Barbarian a Gnome, Mr. Hercule another Human and The Mysterious Ranger yet another Human."

"Now contestants please pull a number from the box in front of you."

Azoth number: 1d100 ⇒ 16

Dakar number: 1d100 ⇒ 7

Arsok number: 1d100 ⇒ 46

Jaron Musashi number: 1d100 ⇒ 18 Roll off number: 1d100 ⇒ 29

Glor number: 1d100 ⇒ 13

Bob the Barbarian number: 1d100 ⇒ 74

Mr. Hercule number: 1d100 ⇒ 18 Roll off number: 1d100 ⇒ 32

The Mysterious Ranger number: 1d100 ⇒ 68
The closer your number is to 100 the closer you are to first position.

Dakar grins evily as he examines the possible opponents. soon i can show them my true strength....

Looks like I'm up first! Can't wait to get started. Mr. GM, how do you want us to handle attack crunchiness and whatnot? The last Arena PbP I've seen used spoiler tags to hide dice rolling and simply indicated attack/damage values. Are we doing something similar?

Dakar actually you are last, 7 is not closest to 100... As for the dice rolls I figured that we could do the same as in normal PbP's no spoilers however I can see how that would be welcome... Use spoilers (Even though I don't think people respect them anyway...) See Campaign Info for the Bracket.

Oh, yeah. Derpy durr. Great first post for Dakar, lol. Are we doing one fight at a time, or what?

I was thinking of doing the fights one at a time, yes. I don't think that it would be easy keeping up on 4 fights at the same time. Oh and the Discussion thread is open...

Navasi, Human, outlaw Envoy 4 | SP 24/24; HP 28/28 | RP 4/4 | EAC 17; KAC 18 | Fort +1; Ref +6; Will +6 | Init: +2 | Perc: +5; Perc. +7

dotting in here this is my tourny alias (has multiple characters behind it)

After everyone posts here or in the Discussion Thread I will start the first match.

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

Bob steps forward, the wind blowing his cloak back in a dramatic fashion and the sunlight glinting perfectly off his teeth and bald head as he smiles and waves to the crowd. His perfectly polished full plate armor clinks like the spurs in a cheesy old west movie as he steps up to the box to draw his number.

He pulls out a number, looks at it, smirks and then holds it aloft triumphantly. In a deep and gravelly voice that seems impossible coming out of someone so small, and projected loudly enough for everyone in the arena to clearly hear, "So much for saving the best for last!"

Bob puts his number back and walks back to his spot in line. By the time he reaches his spot, an astute observer would notice that his armor makes no more than the normal sounds, and his face and armor are now painted in dark red battle paint. The reflection of the blood red battle paint off his orange eyes and the set of his face let anybody who cares to notice know that he won't be going down without a fight!

ooc:
Prodigious use of at will prestidigitation, in case anybody cares.

Male Human Unarmed Fighter

"Good luck beating me Bob!"

Hercule goes up to the box flexing all the way, trying to get the crowds attention and it seems to be working.

He pulls a number and shows it to the crowd. It reads 4.

"Hey Bob don't lose and I wont either, we will see each other in the next round!"

Male Human Ranger 7

He says nothing, he goes up, pulls a number, shows it to the crowd and returns with a slight smile on his face.

Bob are you still here? Want to get the fight out of the way and have people retroactively post their numbers drawn?

As Dakar steps forward, it's immediately obvious that he's quite ugly - even for a hobgoblin. He wears no armor and carries no visible weapons but moves with the assurance of someone who knows he's the absolute best at what he does. He draws a number. "Ah, number 8. Seems I'll have to wait a while. No matter...." Dakar then returns to his spot in line.

Male Human Paladin 2 Wizard 3

Jaron draws his number in silence. The crowd isn't really sure what to make of him: heavily armored, yet agile, with what at first glance appears to be an abnormally thick sword on his back. His oddest feature is his face, or rather, what's covering it. A blue mask of a snarling... something... covers his face. He draws his number and turns toward Azoth. After apparently staring for a couple moments, he inclines his head and returns to the line.

Alias coming later today.

Here it is.

For the multiple threads, you can just start a couple of whole new games and post links to them in the campaign info section.

Male Hobgoblin fighter lvl 7

Arsok steps forward for his number, a hulking brute in a mass of armor. He takes his number, and scowls at not going first but turns to the crowd flourishing his card dramatically and yells "Well, we'll give ya a show when we draw steel, don't ya worry!"

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Gamer 12/Game Designer 1

I apologize for my tardiness... Things got crazy in RL over the weekend lol

Male Human (Varisian Paladin | HP 15/15|AC 17|T 10| FF 17|CMD 14|Fort +4|Ref+0|Will +2|Perc +0|Init +10|
Abilites/Magic:
Smite Evil 1/1

Azoth steps forward for his number. He scowls at the low number, and walks back to his position; his massive armour clanging loudly.

If people don't have completed profiles... how do we know what their AC and what not is? I have never done a PVP...

Well easy way is to pay attention to the rolls and see what hits... Other than that I do apologize for not having my 2 DMPC's all stated out I just have had a lot of threads to keep up with.

"Now that all of the contestants have taken their numbers lets see the first match!"

A magical screen appears in the middle of the stage, viewing letters and pictures of the two contestants large enough for even the people in the nose bleed section to see.

"Bob the Barbarian vs. The Mysterious Ranger!"

The crowd cheers looking forward to the next match.

"Now for more specific rules for this event. Any potions, wands, scrolls, and other items that are depleted on use will be replenished upon the end of the match. Further more any such items that the loser of the match had on their position at the start can now be brought in by the winner for their next match. The match ends when either contestant is knocked out or killed by their competitor. Healing is not cheating but is discouraged. If you move out of the ring you are disqualified, if you fly higher than 30ft. above the arena you are considered knocked out of the ring and thus disqualified. You may push your opponent out of the ring, however keep in mind of the crowd. They don't like victories of that nature. The contestants will start 70ft. away from each other, 35ft. away from the middle of the ring on the left and right side. Now that the rules have been explained all other contestants leave the stage."

Male Human Ranger 7

This character wearing Mithral Breastplate, one quiver on his back along with a Longbow and backpack. On his waist lays a Mithral Greatsword.

He pulls out the Longbow before the fight starts.

You are allowed to draw your weapon(s), potions, wands, etc. before the fight starts. As soon as Bob posts again, I am letting him re-roll init, the fight starts.

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

Bob, now in battle colored armor moves to the prescribed distance from the center point. One hand holds his shield, but with the other, instead of drawing a sword, draws a potion.

initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

"Fight!"

The crowd quiets down and waits to see how the fight turns out.

Male Human Ranger 7

Sees his opponent hasn't started he decides to take the first shot, well more than just a shot!

Flight of Arrows:

Manyshot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Damage for Manyshot: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (8, 1) + 12 = 21

Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Crit threat: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Doubt the crit hit

Rapid Shot Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Last Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Miss.

Will perform the swift action to try to improve the crowd's attitude.

Performance Swift Action: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

The crowd roars as The Mysterious Ranger's arrows fly and most hit their target. His attitude with the crowd is now friendly. And sorry about all the damage, maybe I shouldn't have used a Switch Hitter...

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

Before Bob even has a chance to quaff his potion, his opponent's arrows land. Some bounce off his shield while others bite into his shoulder and leg feel.

He quickly uncorks the bottle and downs its' contents. His skin is already starting to look bark like as he breaks off the arrow shafts and starts running forward.

"AAAAHHHHHHH!"

The blood running down his armor creates new patterns of the same color as Bob draws his long(for him)bow off his back and readies to return the favor!

combat info:
HP -8 / AC 29
Standard action: Drink Potion
Move Action: Move 20' straight towards TMR

Male Human Ranger 7

He sees the Gnome approaching and decides What the heck I'll fight him blade to blade.

He drops his bow and charges at Bob, drawing his Greatsword in the process.

Charge!!:

Greatsword Slash!: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

Crit Threat...: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

Shocking: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Crit Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
AC drops 2 points

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

The Human's long legs were able to carry the mysterious ranger quicker than Bob had anticipated. As his enemy's blade sank through armor and flesh Bob dropped his now useless bow and drew his sword.

Red filled Bob's vision as the sword swung at its' target with retributive fury!

Male Human Ranger 7

The blade cuts through Rangers Armor and draws blood. Nice move little one.

Melee Combat:

Greatsword Slash: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

After the attack TMR attempts to move out of melee range. (Moves back 30 ft.)

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

The Ranger's sword bounces harmlessly off Bob's shield, and Bob swings wildly as the Ranger's long legs take him out of normal range.

"AAAAHHHHHH!

The boldly painted and bleeding Gnome runs towards his opponent with reckless abandon!

combat info:
HP -28 (forgot DR 1)/ AC 26 / Rage Round 2

Male Human Ranger 7

He winces in pain as he gets hit by the aoo. This guy isn't going to let me cast.

Combat:

Casts Lead Blades defensively (DC 17)Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 11
And fails.

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

Finally, Bob's opponent held still. No chasing, no running, only FURY!!!

And so Bob tries to get his blade to go snicker-snack (but alas, all it will ever be able to do is slice and dice...).

combat info:
HP -28 / AC 28 / Rage Round 3 / Potion Round 4
Swift Action: Lesser Elemental Rage (Fire)

Male Human Ranger 7

Looking weak he utters a final thought. "Good Job." He then falls unconscious after sustaining the massive amounts of damage.

He is at 0 total hit points.

The crowd roars as they see Bob's final blow knock TMR unconscious.

"Bob the Barbarian, congratulations for beating your opponent. You move on to the next round."

The magical screen updates by crossing out TMR and moving Bob up to the next round.

TMR's inventory only had Arrows as consumable items (180 total).

Male Lava Gnome Level 7 Titan Mauler

Some of the fire leaves Bob's eyes as he waves his sword and shield around his head. His voice is again amplified and his armor and face are once again bright and shiny. "I told you they didn't save the best for last!"

crowd roll DC 14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Take a +5 bonus for winning the fight

The crowd is going nuts! They know who to look forward to during the next rounds.

You are now friendly for your next fight.

"After we clean up the blood stains and take the body to an infirmary we will start up the next match. In the mean time please enjoy this piece of entertainment!"

A group of bards start performing in a section of the arena that was untouched by the battle.

As soon as Azoth is ready I'll start the next fight. And when Azoth posts again the bards are done with their performance and are leaving the stage.

The next one should be Arsok and Hercule

Yep my bad... I misread my own bracket...

Male Hobgoblin fighter lvl 7

Welp Arsok is ready anytime he is needed

"Now for the next match, Arsok vs. Hercule!"

The crowd cheers at the contestants take to the stage.

Male Human Unarmed Fighter

"I'm the best fighter in the world!"

He flexes and pulls off a bag from his belt.

Male Hobgoblin fighter lvl 7

Arsok draws his flail and gestures first to the crowd then his opponent.

"Then you won't mind if I take yer title when I smash ya."

"Let the match. BEGIN!"

Please excuse my tardiness for posting, I was cooking dinner."

Male Human Unarmed Fighter

"Come on little man I dare you to hit me!"
