WE are starting to make real progress towards finding out what is really going on. We have to get into that mine.
And we seem to have another clue at the masonry.

Would it be possible to get either a tactical map or a description of how far we are from the guards at the mine and at the gate, please MR GM sir.

Ask and you will receive. The Tactical for Table A in my alias and the Campaign Info will take you to the mine entrance.

Once you open the gates to the mine, you are free to enter. Some procedures for how this will work.
First, the Tactical is updated for the whole mine; second I need a 'marching order'. I need to know who goes in first and who is in the rear.
Here are the universal crawl rules I use:
So we have a crawl (dungeon, house, castle, manor to name a few I have run/played in)- to me the most challenging aspect of PbP. I am going to outline the procedures. Feel free to offer suggestions or feedback. Just don't be mean. I am sensitive and prone to fits of crying.
- Most important - you lead the way. Once two or more agree on a course of action move yourselves and delete the spoiler on the map.
- For all traps and evil things I will roll for you assuming that you are actively looking for these types of things. As I have stated I am not a punitive GM. That said, you might fail a roll or two. If you want to aid the primary 'Perception' state that in your SOP.
- If you have something special that you'd like me to do every time you walk into a new room, let me know. We call this a SOP (standard operating procedure) i.e I cast Guidance on Warpac. Sometimes we will be in rounds and that can't happen. Say one action a character.
- It only makes sense that you have a weapon drawn so please declare which one you have.
- Some rooms/scenes will call for specific actions - like read the book you found in the desk. For these special situations, I will prompt you by asking 'Please describe what you are going' or 'Do you read the book?'
- As Painlord says keep pushing.
Hopefully this will keep the action up and we can slog through this with maximum enjoyment.

As for the loot, I suggest taking only the gold from the guards and leaving them bound.
As for the other loot, I say swipe the lot aside from the phrenic ore, which is way too much to carry.
I think we should break into the mine, I don't think anyone has good disable device. Marching order- me in the middle, I am most squishy. :(

I'll keep my cestus equipped, but hopefully I won't need to use it, other than maybe an AoO here or there. I don't anticipate running out of Copies particularly quickly, and I'm not terribly good with it to begin with.

Oops. I forgot to choose which "floating" menu choice to use, from Boost Construct. For simplicity's sake, and not needing to recalculate damage or anything, or add any more dice rolls, I'll just take buff, and add 5hp, if that's okay?

This wall holds something. Something that wants out. A force. Maybe an entity. House Duarran knows, and they will answer to me." Kenax shakes with barely restrained fury as he reads. "These pillars make the wall. Do not go forward, do not touch.... we must leave now."
They dug too deep and encountered A BALROG.
AWESOME!
Before you do, please take some time to level up to level 2.

Yay! What do we do with HP?
Good question - follow PFS HP progression:
d6 - 4 hp per level
d8 - 5 hp per level
d10 - 6 hp per level
d12 - 7 hp per level
Bob- Are we stuck with the nauseated condition or does it go away once we get away from the racket?
I'll let you know once you move away ;)

            Changes:
+7 HP
+1 BAB
+1 CMD and CMB
+1 Ref and Will saves
+1 in each skill (6 skill points)
+1 maneuver known
+1 PP from a new SG maneuver known
+1 blade skills, +1 bonus blade skill
+Two-handed weapons in PanoplySeems all right.
Wow - Souldknives are quite a strong class. You and Neils in Table B are quite the level 1 powerhouses and it seems level 2 is going to even better for you.

            I have updated Kazushi.
Changes:
+6 HP
+1 BAB
+1 CMD and CMB
+1 Will saves
+2 skill points, being 1 rank each in bluff and intimidate
+1 cantrip known, being mage hand
+1 first level spell to cast per day.
And I have that nauseating nauseated condition. :(

With Neils it's probably thanks to the PoW archetype - maneuvers rock.
With me - Psychic Armory is pretty SAD (wis to attack and damage), gives essentials for free (PBS and Precise Shot), no provoking with attacks and pretty good range with a blade skill.
Not bad. And it's just cool - create weapons out of thin air and throw them at enemy. What can possibly be cooler?

Bob- You have Aidan and Kazushi as the ones who made their perception rolls to see Simon's masterwork dagger.
I am near certain it should have been Aidan and Kenax, who rolled 18. Kazushi rolled 3 and would have noticed the wall, if that. :(

It depends on what is possible.
I asked about the windows or shutters to see if we could possibly get through one of those w/o alerting those inside.
The other idea was to get onto the roof if it seems possible to remove some of whatever the roof is made of and then lower ourselves inside.
If we have to smash the door down I guess we will. But I was hoping to get inside without someone giving the alarm and waking everyone up.

There are unshuttered windows. Not sure if smashing a window is possible to do without alerting those inside but you are welcome to try.

Not to spoil things, but most of you can probably tell we are at the tail end of the adventure. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for a tremendous gaming experience. I know my rules and regulations in the beginning were a bit of a pain, but looking back I hope you can appreciate them in spirit, as I hope it served to accentuate your gaming experience.
This naturally leads to 'What next?'
Personally I am running 3 games and playing in 3, which is bit more than comfortably fits into my daily routine. I would like to trim that down and 2 of the games I am playing in are short lived (one is a We Be Goblins and another is a prelude to Kingmaker).
I would like to combine Table A and Table B to form a single Table and move on to the Dreamscarred AP, Third Dawn. It will be very easy to segue from The Opened Mind to Third Dawn.
Currently we have 7 players, a bit more than I would like, but you all have done such a great job that I couldn't 'cut' anyone, nor could I deny you the opportunity to continue to flesh out such interesting characters should you desire. Now I understand that you might have created a character that you thought was cool on paper, but failed to live up to expectations in the gaming experience. You can have a free rebuild to level 2. Those characters who are currently level 1, please do level before beginning Third Dawn.
So that being said, consider this an Interest Check to see if you would like to move on to Third Dawn.
Please do let me know by Sunday, January 22nd so if I need to recruit I can. Provisionally I would like to transition between the Opened Mind to Third Dawn by the beginning of February.
Thanks again,
TheBobJones
