I was afraid of that... so I mailed you a copy of the map. :) Where there is a will...

Eric is good to go. Can you make up a new avatar for Pete and find his original picture, just to keep things consistent?

Inits for Elorin, Biter1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Initiative:
Elorin 19++
Gregor 19+
Gram 19
Biter 18
Alexis 14
Rath 11
Pete 8
Abbas 6

Rath shouts out his orders, but scarcely any time goes by at all for people to obey them, when Rath hears more chanting, this time not whispered, and definitely coming from Tatrill. Suddenly, a cloud of mist appears, filling a large section of the lower hold (adding 5 to the Acrobatics DC mentioned above and reducing visibility even further - now squares 5-feet away have 20% concealment, and beyond that have total concealment).

ROUND 1:

Elorin to act...

Male Elf Wizard (Admixture-Evoker) AC: 15/15/13 w/magic 23/15/20 Init:+9 Perc:+10 F:+7 R:+7 W+8

What the hell is going on down there?

Elorin will unsling his bow as he moves to L12 so he can watch both sets of stairs. Ready an action to attack anyone non-party member that attempts to escape on to the main upper deck.
atk 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Male Elf Wizard (Admixture-Evoker) AC: 15/15/13 w/magic 23/15/20 Init:+9 Perc:+10 F:+7 R:+7 W+8

What a potential waste, the confirm if anyone is that stupid:
atk 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 dam 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11 for the remainder of the damage on the x3 crit.

Rath yells loud enough to carry to both decks. "TATRILL IS CHANTER. HAS CONJURED MIST - FILLS MAYBE 1/3 OF DECK." Rath includes a statement on where Tatrill was located when casting.

Male Human Cleric 3

posting early

Abbas take a 5 foot step to K 17 drawing his scimitar and wield it two handed until he can get his shield out next round and cast shield of faith on himself.

Round 1:

Actions:
Not being really sure where I am at starting this round, Gregor will cast Shillelagh and move (up to 30ft) towards the top of one the stairwells.

Rath (or someone) play Biter til I post again. I'm not gonna have much availability for a bit. Sorry if I held things up.

Gregor: You and I were up on the forecastle keeping a lookout over the crowds to ensure no one does anything suspicious like throwing items overboard during a diversion such as this.

Round 1:
Trusting in the abilities of her allies below-deck, Alexis remains on the forecastle continuing to survey the crowd for anything suspicious. As stated earlier, she casts mage armor.

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 or aid another if Gregor returns to the forecastle

Naz - And how many people, do we estimate are caught in it? Anyone?

BITER:

Biter draws his sword and licks the blade to whet it. Then he starts barking orders:

"All guards be'ing form a perimeter! No enter fogs! All people in fogs come towards my voices slowly, hands up. Tatrill, if wanna live - better come out too. Hope you say 'no'! Biter is look'ing to kill you! PRINCESS - FORWARD STAIRS HAV'ING FOG - WATCH IT."

After speaking, Biter moves stealthily...

Stealth (to C10) 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33

Oh...ok, sorry just a bit out of it... I've been doing a bit of business travel this week.

Round 1 (corrected):

Action:
Gregor will cast Shillelagh and continue to watch over the ship for suspicious activity from his current location.

Rath Round 1:

Rath hurls a couple of shurikens towards where he last saw Tatrill, hoping to flush their quarry.

Full Round Action - Flurry of Blows (shurikens):
To Hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

To Hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Rath quietly assigns some of the guards to secure the other people on the suspects list. He is not convinced there is only one enemy on board. He then moves stealthily...

Stealth (F10) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Gram, Round 1:
Gram makes a double move attempting to get to where the base of the two ladders meet in the center of the ship.

Acrobatics won't be necessary since even counting the squares with people as 2-squares leaves him with one to spare. He ends his movement in E12, standing just inside the mist.

Caveat: If anyone takes an AoO on him, he lays into them.

Unused attack roll from prior post:
handaxe 1d20 + 4 => (19) + 4 = 23 dmg 1d6 + 3 => (6) + 3 = 9

So I'm open to suggestion folks. My idea is we get create a wall of swords and move in unison through the fog to prevent the baddie from slipping past us and giving the most people possible a chance to strike this guy when he makes an appearance.

I am having Avatar issues so I will create Pete's Avatar later.

Pete, Round 1

:
"Aye, this poisoner ain't gonna get by ol' Pete 'ere, not gonna happen"

He will move to N12, if available, or N11, and ready action to tackle (grapple)Jerrys Puthol or Tatrill, once he climbs up the ladder.

Grapple attempt, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

"Lovely," she mutters. "IF IT'S ANY OF THE SPELLS I'M FAMILIAR WITH, THAT FOG WILL BE AROUND FOR A MINUTE OR TWO IF NOT LONGER. YOU MAY NEED TO SWEEP THE AREA. THOSE OF YOU IN THE FIRST HOLD MAINTAIN YOUR POSITIONS AND KEEP THE LADDERS SECURED!"

Just to point out to Gregor and Alexis...so far nobody has been sent up from down below. All that is up on the main deck are a shift of sailors and a few soldiers on duty at the scorpions, and Captain Theodric on the aft deck piloting the ship.

Nazard: Good, that's part of the plan.

We haven't heard any of the stuff Ravarath has been yelling?

Rath was yelling so that the folks on the upper deck could hear it. My assumption is you guys did. :)

Gregor casts his spell and watches and waits for somebody to come up from below. There wasn't room to put all three levels in one map, but I have Gregor just at the top of the forward ladder, while Alexis is at the top of the aft ladder.

Gram moves to cover both ladders. He can hear and sense movement in the mists. He can make out the form of one of your allied soldiers frantically twirling about in the mist, trying to locate a target.

Biter makes his way carefully along, hiding himself behind piles of crates and barrels.

Alexis casts her mage armour.

Rath fires shuriken into the fog, but is not rewarded by any cries of pain. His whispered orders snap the soldier next to him out of his frantic searching and the man moves back out of the mist to tend to the Tweedlebottoms.

There hasn't been time for anybody to get topside. The soldiers announced their round-up and right away Jerrys broke for it. Then Rath quickly shouted out some orders which caused Tatrill to break his cover and cast his spell.

Suddenly, from within the mists, you hear more chanting, this time of a much grimmer and unholy nature. The words are all in a harsh, guttural language none of you recognize, except for the last word, which strikes fear in any language: "Norgorber".

Waves of dark energies lash out from within the mists, surrounding Rath, Gram, and several colonists and prisoners. Screams of pain accompany the vile chanting in a gruesome counterpoint.
1d6 ⇒ 6 Will save DC 14 for half (3)

No sooner does Biter hear these screams of pain, when the soldier directly behind him starts to advance on Gram. The man seems quite surprised to find Biter hiding behind a 3 foot tall barrel, but he recovers and lashes out with his foot, attempting to catch Biter in the back of the knee.
Prathus' attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19; damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 and Biter needs to make a Fort save DC 14 or be reduced to a movement rate of 5' for 2 rounds. Prathus then moves away towards the stern of the ship.

Gram's Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Scowling at the use of unholy energy, Gram calls out, "Abbas, my friend, might the light of Sarenrae be able to counteract this vile darkness?"

Since it's a burst effect, Abbas should be able to channel from the above deck healing those below him. Better to do so now than after we've started damaging baddies...

He'd have to move to the top of the ladder in order to reach Gram, let alone Rath.

I'm changing Pete's target square to N8, rather than N11. It's hard to tell with this map, but the stairways descend into the centre of the ship, so the ladder from the lower hold emerges on the left side, not the right.

Abbas to act... (in case he wishes to change his mind in accordance with Gram's request)

MAP UPDATED

Yeah, I figured. Still, that's only 5 squares of movement even if he fails his Acrobatics checks.

MAP UPDATED

Everyone should also remember that you can't take a 5-foot step into difficult terrain without the Nimble Moves feat or some sort of freedom of movement effect, even with an Acrobatics check (which is why being reduced to a movement rate of 5 would be extremely nasty in this situation).

Alexis, Round 2:
Alexis casts Light of Lunia just-in-case she needs the added firepower in the upcoming rounds. For now she remains in her position listening keenly to what is unfolding below.

Gram hisses, "Ravarath, shall we sweep forward together, side-by-side?"

Will Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Rath takes 3 DAM.

Rath shouts for the people at the stern of the boat and the folks up above, "Prathus is also enemy! Stop him - he has purpose! Heading to stern! Need help down here NOW." To Gram, "Both targets important. If more than Biter was down here to handle Prathus... augh! Alright, let us move into mist and KILL Tatrill."

Alexis swears under-her-breath before shouting, "Everyone who is topside who isn't the captain, a guard or a centaur, get face-down on the deck and lace your finger together behind your heads!"

Turning to Kheiron she says emphatically. If any of them stand up without your permission, put your weaponry to good use. It's our Lord Governor's life or theirs at this point.

"Gregor!" she shouts and waves her hands forward before pointing at the hold.

Alexis, Round 2 (revised):
After casting light of lunia, Alexis moves to the top of the aft ladder. (i.e. above L8)

Gram:
Gram delays until Rath is ready and then will begin sweeping forward with him along row "F". If he encounter's the cleric then he activates smite evil and attacks as noted previously.

A sudden notion strikes Rath "Gram, can you detect the evil of Tatrill?"

Gram answers, "Only if I can see him, Rath..."

Oh right, Acrobatics checks...

Gram's Acro checks:

E12 to F13 - none: 4 remain
F14 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 3 remain
F15 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 2 remain
Gram makes it to F16 with 2 squares of movement left. He will move no further unless Rath is able to keep up or he sees an enemy to attack. If Rath is able make it to G16, then Gram will step into D16 since that will allow them to each see into the 5' around them in order to make AoOs on anyone passing back thru.

Rath Acrobatics Rolls as he moves from F10 to G15/16(just doing a few extras):

Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

If we can time our walk with guards doing it along with us, that would be grand.

New Initiative:
Elorin 19++
Gregor 19+
Gram 19
Biter 18
Alexis 14
Rath 11
Tatrill 10
Prathus 9
Pete 8
Abbas 6

Abbas steps forward and partially down the forward ladder, then channels energy for Rath and Gram. 1d6 ⇒ 4

Alas, Rath, magical mists, inferal/abbysal/whateveral chanting, and waves of negative energy seem to be a bit much for these guards/soldiers. For the time being, their morale seems to be scraping the bilges. I'm afraid you're on your own at the moment.

ROUND 2...
Elorin to act...

Nazard wrote:

Note to self... kill these useless guards and get some new guys. :)

Rath looks at the guards with contempt "Fine. Can't find spine to hunt Cleric in mist then some wait and strike if he appears and some help Biter stop Prathus. Do it! Or you will face ME when this is done."

Male Human Cleric 3

sorry was out but that's what I would have done anyhow. Naz, if I channel energy from D 14 (where I assume I am standing now) wouldn't I catch biter with the channel as well or am I just confused...?

Elorin Round 2:
I didn't see the map updated for my characters move for Round 1, I was in L12. Since no ones comes up I will start delaying and say should I stay up here and cover the stairs or come down there?

Should I stay up here and cover the stairs or come down there?

Yes, sorry you do get Biter as well. Also, in order to come down the ladder slightly, Abbas has stepped into the mist.

Elorin begins delaying.

Gregor to act...

Human Male Investigator (Steel Hound) 2 | HP 17/17 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort+2 Ref +5 Will +4 | Initiative +3 | Perception +9 (+10 vs. Traps)| Inspiration 4/4 | Grit 1/1

Round 2:

Actions:
Gregor will delay until an unfriendly/unfamiliar person/target comes up the stairwell. If that should occur, he will then move and attempt to attack the target

Rolls (if needed):

Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Sense Motive:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Attack(Shillelagh):1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage:2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5) + 2 = 13

As BITER:

Fort Save (vs Prathus kick - DC:14) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
HP: 13 - due to countering Channel Energies

Biter BITES!:

Biter rages, lunges at Prathus, delivering a mighty blow...

He yells up to Elorin, "Come down! Help Biter BITE!"

Standard Action - Single RAGING Hit (Greatsword 19+, x2):
To Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Male Human Cleric 3

will be out most of the day so going to post now

Round 2

Actions:
Abbas will draw his weapon and shield (2 move actions)

feel free to adjust accordingly if anything comes up.

Gregor and Gram delay.

Biter whirls about and viciously slashes at Prathus with his sword. The man ducks the blow far more nimbly than Biter would think possible for a human.

Alexis casts her spell and advances to the top of the top ladder.

Rath advances through the mist, but all he finds is a downed colonist in G16.

Gram advances with him. He finds Jerrys in F14, also down, but no sign of the channeler.

You hear more chanting, this time to port. Out of the mists, steps a man, dripping wet, wearing a Taldor uniform. It's hard to tell in the dim lighting, but he would appear to be the pirate captain who nearly killed Biter (of course, only Gram can see well enough to make out even that much - nobody else can even see that the man is there). The pirate captain takes a swing at Gram with his fist, moving much slower than a human should.

Pirate Captain Zombie attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16; damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8;

Prathus lashes at Biter with another kick aimed at crippling the goblin.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 and Fort save DC 14 or reduced speed. Prathus then attempts to tumble away from Biter. Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 No AoO from Biter.

Pete to act...

MAP UPDATED

Gram cries out in surprise, "They have someone capable of creating undead down here? Why the hell is that dead pirate captain's body even still here? He was hanged over a week ago! Why didn't Theodric dump him overboard when he was cut from the yardarm?! Rath, Abbas, I'm going to need some help, the undead is just to the port-side of me!"

Rath is enraged, he whispers. "Fall back upstairs, Gram. Maybe Zombie follow. I have to kill that cleric before he raises more undead. Send more people down here and after Prathus."

He did. You guys dumped the body yourselves. The water dripping off the man's clothes takes on a whole new meaning.

Gram's Will Save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 to disbelieve what is most easily explained as an illusion seeing as how all of them can't smell the dead salty dog and didn't hear him approaching thru the fog
