Right... It is finished! End of financial year coinciding with long Easter weekend is not a good recipe. Have survived by dint of craptastic levels of caffeine with a side order of sleep deprivation. Apologies for my crabbiness over the last few days. I'm now back and ready to get things moving again

It is your call on the AoO. However, if you look at the list of what provokes, it is mostly things that take your attention away from the person trying to hit you.
Draw a weapon - easy without focussing on someone else - no AoO
Search through your backpack - draws an AoO
I would say that carefully attempting to manipulate a lock would require Felrin's concentration. - Although there does not seem to be any definitive rule from what I can see.

Felrin Vennax |

I would say working on the lock difficult device would definitely provoke an AoO, I don't see how it could avoid it. Starting on his next turn, Felrin will make the initial attempt to understand it (which will provoke, since he's paying no attention to the combat), using one of the five rounds, and then we'll see what happens with the AoO and whether he feels he has to pay attention to the fight.
I assume it's a total of five rounds, so if he spends 1 round now, it will take 4 additional rounds once he can get back to it?

Etna Agnes |

Yup, provoking sounds reasonable.
And Damn Tiadora! She found out about one of my weaknesses: enemies without feet. D:

I have it as a spell-like ability: close enough! D:

My pleasure (from d20pfsrd):
Ability damage does not actually reduce an ability, but it does apply a penalty to the skills and statistics that are based on that ability.
For every 2 points of damage you take to a single ability, apply a –1 penalty to skills and statistics listed with the relevant ability. It heals at a rate of 1 point per day.
Damage to your Constitution score causes you to take penalties on your Fortitude saving throws. In addition, multiply your total Hit Dice by this penalty and subtract that amount from your current and total hit points. Lost hit points are restored when the damage to your Constitution is healed. A character with a Constitution score of 0 is dead.
Ability drain actually reduces the relevant ability score. Modify all skills and statistics related to that ability. This might cause you to lose skill points, hit points, and other bonuses. Ability drain can be healed through the use of spells such as restoration. It does not heal naturally.
Tl;dr - if your Con reaches 0 you die irrespective of whether it was drain or damage that got you there.
Have a nice day

I did post my first round action: draw alchemist's fire and total defense. Second round will be move to a position where none of my allies provide cover and throw. I'll do that after Erevan and Felrin have gone so that they can have a chance to move out of the way (and we know who is taking splash damage). Plus, if everyone can 5' step away from it, I won't take that damned -4 for shooting into melee, which could mean the difference between 1d6+5 plus a further 1d6 burning or just 6 splash!

Etna Agnes |

@Tkaara: Wishbound Arcana specify that it works only with spells, so only 2d4 of damage.
Speaking of which, I'd advise to get out of the cone. :P

Worked out well, but for future reference, alchemist's fire does not allow a reflex save against the initial damage, only a DC 15 save to prevent continuing to burn on the round following a direct hit, and only then if they take a full-round action to extinguish the flames (+2 to save if they roll on the ground). Toasty! :D

Well, you can, but then who's going to provide all of that lovely warm, nutritious blood you're going to be craving in a few levels? It pays to think ahead when you're Lawful Evil - so, with that in mind...

Any more lurkers out there reading? Come on now, don't be shy; I have cookies!

I'm restarting university again after easter this week, so I've been a little busy the last 3 days or so with packing and errands. I should resume my usual posting rate now. :D
That said, I don't think we slowed down that much, barring the last 5 days: we had more than 50 posts in the week from the 1st of April to the 8th, and another 50 the week before! That looks like an healty rate!
If I had to guess a reason for the slowdown, I'd guess that it's a combination of usual PC paranoia, the fact that we had to decide each time to light up the light or not, and the feared bane of PbP: doors. :P
Now that we've found the incriminated fungus and we're almost at the end of the dungeon (they tend to slow down PbP a lot), we should get back to the usual rate. :)

Felrin Vennax |

The other thing that slows down PbP's a lot is weekends. But I'd agree with Etna, there's been a healthy dose of paranoid caution as we sort out the tests and try not to do. This part of the adventure has been fun, but the set-up would slow down a RL game, and really slows down a PbP, as we all take a careful approach and try to avoid getting all of us killed.

Felrin Vennax |

DMD - can you tell us the dimensions of this room, or at least the part of it we can see? I can put a quick map together that way.

Felrin Vennax |

Map is linked above my avatar, will post a bit later, since I'm last in the initiative and I'll have some things to react to.
As before, anyone can edit the map, so you can move yourself wherever you'd like.

DM Darkness |

Undead thing is on the path at L12. Feel free to post whenever, I'll sort it out as we go along...
And thanks, I appreciate your doing the maps.
You're last? Tkaara is so slow, that she probably won't go until the next round.
Heh. Funny how the dice rolls sometimes match the narrative that's already going on.

Etna Agnes |

I've added the Undead: the grease is on squares L-M 12-13.
