Tanrov is already in melee with Juju 3, and it's up against the wall. No place to flank currently for you.

Ashur turns to the last zombie currently assaulting his allies. He smiles showing off his vicious maw. He then attempts to make the undead into a re-dead.

Ashur comes down from his rage. His horns come back down to normal size and his teeth retract into his mouth. "That was fun. I was worried I was going to be bored this entire trip." He wipes his claws off on his tunic.
Erin Alegra
|
"Thanks to you all, yes. Tanrov, that hammer is large enough to smash almost anything. You slowed that one down enough for me to finish it."
Erin states as she cleans off her blades, then replaces them into their sheathes.
"Sadly I think that was more relaxing for all of us than the meditation..."

As you investigate the rest of the room you notice that there are way more carvings on these sarcophagi than you noticed at first glance. Taking rubbings will be a little bit of work, though not as much as that library is going to be.
The central sarcophagus leans slightly to the side. There is a crack beneath it that leads to a crooked hollow space roughly 8 feet long and 18 inches deep. At the rear of the crevice, out of sight from the entrance lays something shiny, though getting it out will not be easy.
Getting the shiny object will require an Escape Artist check to get. If you want to take the time for it, you may Take 20.
Erin Alegra

"I see something back there, I'm going go check and see what it is."
Erin shrugs off her robe and lays it on one of the sarcophagi, revealing a multitude of weapons and tools strapped carefully against her chain shirt and breeches. She examines the crevice carefully before crawling in.

Escape Artist Take 20 + 2 = 22

After the brief excitement of battle, you return to the mundane task before you. Everyone pitches in to the best of their ability and three hours later you have copied all of the carvings, runes, and writing that can be found and filed them away in your packs.
The day is waning and rest is needed before taking on the Library and the Garden.

Tanrov
"I do." Ashur takes the wand from Tanrov and thwacks him with it.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He then produces his own wand and does the same to himself.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Arkwright
"Or zombies with weapons."

Arkwright nods in thanks and rests against a handy wall.
"Thus far, we have tried to be subtle. We have not told our hosts of our true mission, and have tried to carry it out without their knowledge. We did this both because we thought the priests might forbid us from carrying out our orders and because something about this whole temple seemed dangerous. The problem is that accomplishing the rest of our mission- surveying the garden, building a catalog of books in the library- is going to take far, far more time than we could reasonably justify, and will have to be done in full view of our hosts."
"I am suggesting that rather than trying to accomplish our mission by stealth, we go to the leader of these devotees and tell him our mission directly. We will tell him that we would like to survey the garden, catalog the library and so on. We will also say that we will not harm the temple in any way and will allow him to make copies of what we find."
"And if he refuses? I'll admit a personal disdain for the Law, but i'll admit that in this case, the Law is on our side and it is a rather good feeling. We tell him about the tapestry, fairly acquired by the Society. We tell him how the Society has thus acquired all that is present within the tapestry, and consequently we have every right to examine the grounds and carry out surveys."
"If we wanted, we could probably and quite legally threaten to force these devotees out of the temple. However, i'm reasonably sure swords would be raised if we tried that, and I would rather avoid confrontation. I suspect that the masters of the Society would have no problem with these devotees worshipping here, as by all evidence they are not harming anybody but themselves. Consequently we might concede to them that they may stay here, at the Society's pleasure, but they must allow us to proceed on our mission."
"As to there being something wrong with this temple... I think these corpses here confirm it, but I would rather face any dangers here head on than have it spring out at us, as happens here. If it does come to combat, I am confident in the blades of Erin, Petr and I, in the hammer of Tanrov, and in the horns of Ashur and Freyr." Arkwright shoots a quick smile at Ashur.
"Anyway, that is my suggestion. What do you think?"
Tanrov-Speaks-With-Beasts

Tanrov picks himself up off the wall he'd been leaning on and thinks about the elf's suggestions.
"These people are nice enough, if a little strange. We should start by just talking to whoever is in charge. They might know what those things are and how they got down here", he offers.
Ashur Glaber

Tanrov
"Learn to him 'em harder."
Arkwright
"They tried to poison us. I don't think being upfront is a good idea, unless we plan on taking them all out. I mean, I'm good with that. But that is probably not what you had in mind. We should just keep doing what we're doing and if they confront us, then we let them know and see what happens. I have a feeling they don't want us looking around. Seems like they have a lot to hide, like these bodies. "
"Why is it always about the horns. I have other attributes." He mutters to himself.
Arkwright
|
"Ashtur, ALL the food was poisoned, not just our own. Strange, I know, but it might mean they also didn't know it was poisonous."
"Also, if these people are just devotees, then I can't see why they would attack us, particularly as the worst we are going to do is note down details about their temple. But if you'd like we might try to just continue on our mission and only tell them the truth when stopped."
Ashur Glaber
|
Tanrov
"That would help."
Arkwright
"Maybe they built up a resistance to it. Some people do that. I don't think they're devotees. I'm thinking they're cultists. Which means if we find them out, that would threaten their existence. I'm good with going on with our mission until they decide to interfere."
