Round 1
1) Cat jumps down from Carrot to 1515-0609. A fog cloud appears and obscures your line-of-sight to the hobgoblins.
2) Hobgoblin #1 moves to 1721 where he can see the party and fires an arrow (1d4 ⇒ 2) at Foxglove (20% miss because of fog: 1d100 ⇒ 36% so can see to target) Arrow AC20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 and misses.
3) Harad draws a potion from his pouch and drinks it.
4) Hobgoblin #2 does a double move to 1515-1521.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 moves 30' to be clear of the fog and fires at Harad (Arrow AC22: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31) and hits (Arrow AC22: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24) and confirms the critical hit for Critical Hit: 3d8 + 12 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) + 12 = 22 hp of damage (Harad now at 14 hp).

6) Foxglove Actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 Actions
8) Alk Actions

Female Human Rogue 4

ohcrapohcrap Desna help us, I'm going to do something stupid!

Foxglove starts laughing, "Hah! Easy pickings", and draws two daggers while moving towards the goblins. She looks to be almost dancing, moving in an erratic zig-zag line but poised to dodge at any instant - all while trying to look menacing.

Total defense (+6 ac, standard action), move 30' to 0914 (move action) while drawing weapons (free as part of move). AC=25.
No time to use intimiate/bluff, but she is obviously trying to apppear as the largest threat to draw the heat of Harad and Alk.

"Rogue tanking (TM)- seems like a good idea until the first hit!"

7) Hobgoblin # 3 double moves to 1515-1525 to be able to see the party.
8) Alk Actions

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

Alk clambers down from his horse, hastily casting a spell after he does so. A barely visible shimmering coats his body.

Dismount as a move action to 0808, cast mage armor on myself. AC is now 17.

2) Hobgoblin #1 Actions
3) Harad Actions
4) Hobgoblin #2 Actions
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1
6) Foxglove Actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 Actions

Cat is using the horse's body, her small size, and any handy brush to keep from being seen (not actively stealthing yet).

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 2
1) Cat tries to make herself unnoticed without using stealth.
2) Hobgoblin #1 shoots at Foxglove (20% miss in fog: 1d100 ⇒ 74 does not miss due to partial concealment) (Arrow AC 25: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19) but misses. Hobgoblin 5'steps to 1515-1621.
3) Harad draws another potion and drinks it, healing for (Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 7) + 3 = 18) 18 hp. (Harad now at 32 hp)
4) Hobgoblin #2 shoots at Foxglove (Arrow DC25: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20) and misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 shouts in goblin (Foxglove hears "Take out the filthy cursed magic user!") and shoots at Alk (Arrow AC17: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21) and hits for (Arrow Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5) for 5 hp. (Alk now at 13 hp)
6) Foxglove actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 actions
8) Alk actions.

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

Most recent map is locked, says it needs permission to view.

Female Human Rogue 4

wow, both those arrows would have hit my normal AC: tactic working so far. But my melee capabilities are crap without flanking

Foxglove notices that her companions are staying back, and she is outnumbered 4 to 1 with no flanking partner. And they didn't like Alk casting that spell. But she keeps up the bravado.

(goblin)"My magic is stronger than your arrows" Maybe the dumb ones will keep shooting at me.

She keeps advancing in the same manner. Total defense (ac:25), move to 1418

That fog is mighty convenient for us. But where did it come from? It's more than a dropped smokestick. Do we have a hidden friend? or is it a miracle from Desna.

Questions: Can I hide/stealth inside the fog cloud? How are the grunts and leader armored and armed?

male keleshite human monk 4

Sorry, End of Round 1

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 2
1) Cat tries to make herself unnoticed without using stealth.

3) Harad drinks another potion.
4) Hobgoblin #2 shoots at Foxglove but misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 shouts and shoots at Alk, hits for 5 hp.

6) Foxglove taunts and moves to 1515-1418, fully defensive.
7) Hobgoblin #3 shoots an arrow at Alk, (Arrow DC17: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16) and misses.
8) Alk Actions

male keleshite human monk 4

The hobgoblins are in studded leather, but no shield. They have longbows and longswords. Anything in the fog cloud can not see beyond 5' (partial concealment, 20% miss chance), even with darkvision. Further in than 5' provides total concealment (50% miss chance and can not target by sight).

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

Alk casts yet another spell, then disappears.

Cast invisibility using the arcane bond, move to 1210. Sorry Foxglove, but it probably looks like Alk is bailing at the moment as I just up and vanish. Don't worry, I'm sticking around. ;)

Round 3
1) Cat (Stealth: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31) moves somewhere.
2) Hobgoblin #1 shoots at Foxglove (Arrow AC25: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8) and misses.
3) Harad uses a point of ki to gain a +4 dodge bonus to AC, charges to 1515-1522, and attacks Hobgoblin #2 (Charge +2 AC15: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9) and misses.
4) Hobgoblin #2 drops his longbow, draws his longsword as he 5' steps to 1515-1422, and attacks Harad (Longsword AC26: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17) and misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 draws a bead on Harad and shoots, (Arrow AC26: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 1 = 33) (Crit AC26: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 1 = 24) hits with a potential crit, but does not confirm, for (Arrow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13) 13 hp (Harad now at 19 hp). Leader says in goblin "Slay the male human!"
6) Foxglove Actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 Actions
8) Alk Actions

Female Human Rogue 4

Yes! Perfect timing, Harad

She dances to flank hobgoblin#2 (hex 1321 if I got it right) put a dagger between his ribs.

dagger flanking attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16, dam: 1d4 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (3, 6) = 11
of course, the dagger nearly two foot shorter than the rapier she normally uses...

To Harad: "Watch your back"

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 3
1) Cat moves somewhere.
2) Hobgoblin #1 shoots at Foxglove and misses.
3) Harad uses ki, attacks Hobgoblin #2, and misses.
4) Hobgoblin #2 5' steps to 1515-1422, attacks Harad, and misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 attacks Harad for 13 hp (Harad now at 19 hp); shouts in goblin "Slay the male human!"

6) Foxglove moves to 1515-1321 and attacks Hobgoblin #2 and hits for 11 hp.
7) Hobgoblin #3 shoots at Harad (Arrow AC26: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 = 20) and misses.
8) Alk Actions

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

Alk edges closer to the fight, drawing his bow in one hand as he does so. With the other hand he begins casting Summon Monster II to summon a celestial wolf in 1717, or a nearby hex if that one's occupied. Simply want it to attack the nearest hobgoblin, using smite evil if I understand the description of summon monster and it is celestial. Hopefully its positioning should cause it to move down to a good flanking position with Foxglove.

Invisibility should keep up, though I suppose if they had really good perception they could hear me casting and determine where the noise is coming from.

male keleshite human monk 4

Summon Monster (of all levels) is a full round action, so you will be unable to move or draw your bow this round while casting. The wolf will appear on your turn in Round 4 30' from you and then can move to attack a hobgoblin (wolf's have a 50' movement rate). You can only have the wolf attack the nearest enemy as you can not speak with animals.

Alternately you can double move this round, cast in Round 4, and have the wolf appear in Round 5 where you want it (within 30').

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

If you scroll down a bit on this page, it says that you can start or complete a full-round action spell as a standard action. That is, I can use my standard action this round and my standard action next round to do it across the two rounds. Not as good for action economy but it lets me get the wolf into a better position.

male keleshite human monk 4

Ah, yes. I just ran across that myself at TT tonight. I assume that you want to move 20' to 1515-1214, then when you cast you can summon the celestial wolf to 1515-1717. It can then move and attack Hobgoblin #1. You can also have the creature appear in 1515-1518, and be a little closer. Either way you will have a move action or a move equivalent action left next round, as you say.

male keleshite human monk 4

7) Hobgoblin #3 shoots at Harad and misses.

8) Alk moves and begins to cast summon monster II
End of Round 3 (if I have Alk's move right)

2) Hobgoblin #1 Actions
3) Harad Actions
4) Hobgoblin #2 Actions
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1

That position is good. I had put my own position originally and deleted it while editing, sorry.

Female Human Rogue 4

with the fog and all the movement going on, i'm waiting for an update before posting.

male keleshite human monk 4

Soon. Going to dinner tonight but hopefully before I hit the rack I can get the next stuff posted.

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 4
1) Cat actions have been taken
2) Hobgoblin #1 shoots at Harad (Arrow AC26: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7) and misses.
3) Harad uses a second point of ki to maintain +4 dodge bonus, attacks Hobgoblin #2 (in flank) (Flurry #1 AC15: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18, Flurry #2 AC15: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14) and hits once for Flurry damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 hp. Hobgoblin is staggered, but still standing.
4) Hobgoblin #2 Actions attacks Harad (Longsword AC26: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7), misses but takes 1 hp of damage for the standard action, and falls to the ground.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 attacks Harad (Longbow AC26: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 1 = 19) and misses.
6) Foxglove Actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 Actions
8) Alk Actions

Female Human Rogue 4

Foxglove smiles at Harad, nice dodging, hope you can keep it up just a little longer

While the goblinoids are busy reloading, she darts over to a position where the fog may offer some concealment from arrows - and Harad can move in for flanking flurry

hustle to 1720 and stab the hobgobling there, taking the long way around just in case they have martial arts training

dagger attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 111d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 4
1) Cat actions have been taken
2) Hobgoblin #1 shoots at Harad and misses.
3) Harad uses a second point of ki, attacks Hobgoblin #2 and hits once for 3 hp. Hobgoblin is staggered, but still standing.
4) Hobgoblin #2 Actions attacks Harad, misses but takes 1 hp of damage for the standard action, and falls to the ground.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 attacks Harad and misses.

6) Foxglove moves to 1515-1720, attacks with dagger and misses. 20% miss chance for fog concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 26, so miss still misses
7) Hobgoblin #3 attacks Harad (Longbow AC26: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 26) hits, (Crit Confirm AC26: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 19) but does not confirm the crit, for Arrow: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 hp.
8) Alk Actions (If this is still what you intend, summon monster II goes off summoning a celestial wolf in 1515-1717. It charges to 1515-1620 and attacks Hobgoblin #1, Bite AC15: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24, Bite to confirm crit AC15: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24, crits for bite: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 = 11 hp, tries free trip Trip CMD15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, but fails. Alk still invisible, has move action left.)

End of Round 4 (maybe)

Round 5 (if no change)
1) Cat actions continue
2) Hobgoblin #1 drops bow, draws longsword as he 5' steps to 1515-1520, and attacks wolf (Longsword AC14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15) and hits for Longsword: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 hp.
3) Harad uses a 3rd point of ki for dodge bonus, 5' steps to 1515-1521 and attacks (Flurry #1 AC15: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5, Flurry #2 AC15: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 = 14) and misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 attacks Harad (longbow: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 31) and hits for arrow: 1d8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8 hp. (Harad now 8 hp)
6) Foxglove Actions
7) Hobgoblin #3 Actions
8) Alk Actions

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 5 Edit
1) Cat runs to 1515-1419 and screeches in common "We need to flee and more are coming!"

Revised Round 5 Edit
Sorry, just realized I had the wrong layers turned on.

Terrain Overview - Round 5

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

Can move to 1218 with my move action in that round.

Female Human Rogue 4
Harad Navar wrote:

Cat screeches in common "We need to flee and more are coming!"

Huh? Who said that? But we can't outrun the arrows

Foxglove memorizes the position of the goblins and runs through the fog/smoke, trying to surprise the leader.

Stealth (-5 for speed) through fog to 1924, hopefully sneak attacking the hobgoblin leader. Assuming no need to roll perception or acrobatics to find my way, but roll for me if needed

stealth: 1d20 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 11 - 5 = 20 (plus possibly bonus from fog in the square she's attacking from)?

dagger attack (SA): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 1d4 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4, 5) = 12
and obviously harder to hit and much less damage if not SA

male keleshite human monk 4

Round 5
1) Cat runs to 1515-1419 and screeches in common "We need to flee and more are coming!"
2) Hobgoblin #1 drops bow, draws longsword as he 5' steps to 1515-1520, and attacks wolf and hits for 4 hp.
3) Harad uses a 3rd point of ki for dodge bonus, 5' steps to 1515-1521 and attacks, and misses.
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 attacks Harad, and hits for 8 hp. (Harad now 8 hp)

6) Foxglove moves to 1515-1924 in stealth (Perception DC20: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16) and is able to get close enough to sneak attack, hits for 12 hp.
7) Hobgoblin #3 shoots at Harad (Longbow AC26: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24) and misses.
8) Celestial wolf (2nd round of 3) attacks Hobgoblin #1 (bite AC15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5) but misses.
Alk (moved to 1515-1218 last round) Actions

Male Dwarf Wizard 3/ Rogue 1

The wolf lasts one extra round because I'm a conjuration specialist.

Alk repositions (to 1021) and then takes a shot out of stealth at one of the hobgoblins (the one in 1526).

Shortbow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage w/ sneak attack: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8

Hopefully that is against his flat-footed AC, as I'm invisible until I make the attack. If not disregard the second die of damage.

Female Human Rogue 4
Alk Caskenflagon wrote:

strictly speaking not flat-footed but losing dex bonus vs unseen opponent. No difference unless they have special abilities (like uncanny dodge). Btw good shooting! If that one goes down and Harad (survives and) does what I hope he will, we stand a chance.

7) Hobgoblin #3 shoots at Harad and misses.

Alk moves to 1515-1021 and fires his crossbow at Hobgoblin #3, hitting it for 8 hp.

Two arrows ... one hits it for 1d8+2+4=12 hp. The Hobgoblin Leader is staggered.

Foxgloves eyes widen as the arrow penetrates the hobgoblin leader with immense force. I hope that wasn't meant for me!

Is the hobgoblin leader carrying anything noteworthy or obivously valuable, like unholy symbol, bulging belt pouch, masterwork weapon, etc? Something that could be quickly cut loose and grabbed when the leader hopefully drops in an moment.

male keleshite human monk 4

Perception DC20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 You can tell that the bow he is using looks fine (Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22), it looks masterwork.

Cat runs back to horses and hops up on carrot to get a better view of the action - keeping both the current hobgoblins and my companions, and the new ones coming in, within my sight.

Female Human Rogue 4

Foxglove intent: stab hobgoblin leader, swipe the longbow as he falls (and cutting loose and grabbing a quiver if can be done in 3 seconds or less) then run westwards towards the hidden archer, whistling for Carrot to follow.

All this on the assumption that the new group is not arriving from the west.

3) Harad 5' uses his 4th ki point, steps to 1515-1421 and attacks Hobgoblin #1, and misses twice
5) Hobgoblin Leader #1 drops bow and draws longsword, and drops to the ground dying.

6) Foxglove 5' steps out of fog cloud to over the dying leader (1515-1825), puts away her dagger, and picks up bow and quiver.

Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

He falls back a little (to 1218), looking west to see where the arrows came from.
