Nah. I'm generally going to be shooting for 2-3 posts a week. Screaming exceptions will be times immediately following certain game releases (Pillars of Eternity being the culprit currently, but I've since completed a playthrough so I'll be dialing back on that time sink). Also relevant: Witcher 3 comes out on May 19th.

My computer has finally died. I am limited to ipad use until I can get it fixed. My posting may be a bit slower than usual.

Do we know of a cleric in Trunau who can cast Speak With Dead? It's only a level 3 spell, so perhaps not so far fetched a hope..?

It's a tough thing to pay attention to timing in battle, but it's 50-50 as to whether Morgder or Skrioth dropped their opponents first, but my money is on Skrioth with the higher DEX.

So I'm claiming first blood in this campaign for the blind chick mermaid healer type that worships a dwarven fire god.

Holiday weekend here in the states, and I'm adding to it by taking Friday off as well, so in all likelihood, I'll be offline until late Monday, or early Tuesday.

It's been 9 days since the GM posted. 2-3 posts per week is a decent pace. 1 post every other week is probably too slow to keep my interest.

I'd be interested in hearing other opinions.

Everything about this game is spectacular (quality of posts, attention to detail, maps, etc.) except for the pace. It is slow and I would like to see it move faster, but I knew what I signed up for. I would prefer to move faster but I would rather have it move slower and not stress the GM out if he only has so much time in his day.

I wish it were otherwise, but I'm finding my investment in the game dropping due to the posting speed. I'm also starting to forget key IC details.

I do have to admit that this can be a problem. Whenever there's a big post I have to go back to check that I'm remembering things correctly.

Though my feelings more closely echo Morgder's on this one, I too have to confess remembering some of the subtler nuances we've uncovered has become a bit of an issue. It wouldn't be a problem during a dungeon crawl, but in a fast-paced investigation such as the one we're in it can disrupt the sense of overall continuity in the deductive process...

I'm quite busy IRL these days, so I understand slow posting. That being said I try keep up the maximum PBP load I reasonably can. At the moment that's running two long term games, a short term playtest type game, and playing in several more. I agree with others that when the pace slows this much I lose immersion and begin to forget what's going on.

I'll also admit to being more of a wargamer than a roleplayer. Especially in PBP. I don't mind RP, but its only fun for me if it leads to driving the plot forward and more combat. RPing to figure out what we're supposed to next? Meh.

Apologies, all. This week's been pretty hectic, and I've been falling back to games and sleep a bit more than I had intended. Still want to continue forward, though. I'll try to normalize my schedule in the coming month enough to get a routine (that seems to work better than the usual "when I get a chance" method, in my experience). If things don't improve in that time, we can have an open discussion about reexamining this PbP's social contract.

Not to spoil too much, but this installment seems to come in heavy parcels. There's the RP-heavy sleuth, and a huge combat stretch down the line. I will call this out when it is impending though. IMO, it's a little unforgiving on the PCs, so I'll give you a heads up.

I'm actually pretty surprised at all the subterfuge given the premise of the campaign, but it's certainly not unwelcome. It's just that being a martial type with only 2 skill points means I'm not a lot of help :P

Yeah, Grafelda wasn't built for detective work either skill wise or personality wise.

Good to know. As someone who admittedly enjoyed this curve-ball thrown by an AP which was supposed to be quite combat-focused, I still feel our group is ill-equipped to deal with a drawn-out investigation. Qyth at least has a few social skills up her sleeve, but I understand our less charismatic characters' plight. I've come to believe that the sooner we wrap it up, the better.

As a brief overview and refresher. . .

Leads on the table:

  • Talk to Cham Laringfass at the Ramblehouse (halfling owner of the inn).
  • The Brinya Kelver lead was followed up on, and she mentioned Rodrik claiming that he had some sort of muse at the Sanctuary (temple of Iomedae). He also apparently kept a journal on him at all times that has gone missing (it wasn't in his bedroom, at least).
  • Omast Frum, a patrol sergeant and longtime friend of the Grath family. He was something like an uncle figure to them, and Kurst mentioned he might have confided something in the man.

    Other things on the table:

  • Someone has been drawing crude, white swords on various surfaces all throughout Trunau that are impossible to scrub or clean off.
  • There seems to be someone actively trying to impede your progress, given that they set some rabid wolves on you.
  • Urnsul, an apprentice smith at Clamor, filled out a receipt for Rodrik's replacement hopeknife. Urnsul herself has since gone missing, but the nearly-finished knife was found at the scene of Rodrik's supposed suicide. You have learned, after talking to Brinya, that the hopeknife she exchanged with Rodrik was lost. The knife found at the crime scene was an unfinished replacement (which points to foul play).

In general I like to keep the party from splitting, but in the interest of powering through the sleuth phase of the game I might suggest people splitting up and tackling multiple leads at the same time. It would help streamline the process, at any rate, being able to respond to multiple situations briefly and simultaneously.

  • Female Merfolk Oracle of Flame / 2 (AC: 19 [T: 13 FF: 16] | HP: 4/17 (0NL) | F+2, R+3, W+1) | Init: +3 |Perc: +3, Darkvision 30’)

    Just checking in!

Going to update tonight. We're in for a smallish dungeon crawl, so I figured I'd pose the question now: you guys want to do a room-by-room posting strategy, or just kinda summarize and roll checks for you guys where they are warranted except for rooms where there are encounters?

The speedy version! You'd do well to have a macro to zip through our Perception checks maybe?

Just make sure we get the gist of the place, don't miss clues or loot, and have fun.

Yeah, I've got a notepad of it saved on my home PC. I would have you guys deliberately cover all ground; only way you'd miss a secret is failed rolls.
