Once you are out of the sand you aren't entangled, but as you moved out of the threatened area by taking a move action you would draw an AOO from its tentacles which still have reach to you. Unless I missed something?

That's probably going to change some of your plans? You are entangled as you didn't make it off the sand, as well as grappled so no two handed weapon attacks

My turn is good, right? I got grappled and missed my attack. Good? Question for next round--if I'm being grappled when I'm large size and I shrink down to the SE square, does that make me escape the grapple?
| Shifty |
yeah your turn is good - I was just leaving the option open in case Kel did something that changed your condition (ie Lib command or the like)
Interesting corner case - I don't think you can shrink out of a grapple - you'd shrink into a threatened square and remain grappled. Haven't seen that happen before, so always happy for wider thoughts.

Satisfied the area is safe, you stop to let the heat of the day abate.
During the hour before dusk, the setting sun’s light causes a weathered hieroglyph depicting an arch to glow. Even as the sun sets, the long shadow cast by the stone never shifts, always pointing to the northwest with exactly the same bearing. It appears to point in the direction you are travelling...
The remainder of the journey through the desert proceeds uneventfully, with only the rise and fall of the dunes to break the monotony. A low, uneven hill of granite appears on the horizon to the northwest, presenting the only shelter for miles around. Although the crag appears solid from a distance, on closer examination there is a wide fissure in the rock sealed by a heavily weathered stone wall fitted with a large iron door.
You have arrived with good speed by taking the shortcut and having a good tracker, this grants you a +2 bonus on Knowledge, Linguistics, and Perceptions checks while exploring the rest of this scenario.
The iron gate that seals the entrance is heavy and partially buried by sand, yet it is unbarred and can be opened with sufficient muscle
The archway’s ceiling contains a recessed inscription in Ancient Orisiani that has avoided the worst of millennia of erosion.
It is a message welcoming travelers and offering them safety from the winds
OR
The stone wall is 30 feet high and worn smooth, a difficult climb; however, the canyon wall is uneven and looks a lot easier.
Agraic

Agraic will blink at the heiroglyph and point it out to the rest of the party that doesn't see it, and squinting a bit. "Well, heck, that's a bit disturbin'. And I haven't even had any ale yet."
He forgoes the brew that evening, because of being in the desert and wanting to keep his senses sharp.
When the party arrives at the location, Agraic heads to the door and awaits the go-ahead to put his shoulder into moving it open...

Magrim notices some ritual scarring on the gnolls, and spits, fruitlessly trying to brush the sand from his clothes.
Those foul creatures pay their respects to Lamashtu--best not to try to negotiate with them. Thanks for not letting their pet drag me under the sand.
The dwarf heals his scratches with a wand (charge of CLW), shrugging at the inscription on the gateway.

Adeah shrugs. "Not me. Probably not important. Come on, let's see if we can get this door open."
Yes, you're probably right. But just in case...
The dwarf intones a quick spell, searching the door for magical auras.
Detect Magic
| Shifty |
Magrim finds no sign of magic, and there doesn't appear to be any traps. It only takes a short while for the dwarves to clear the sand, and then with Agraics help they get to work wrenching the door aside whilst the others keep watch.
Its a DC18 STR, you guys would make that pretty quickly
As the metal door is slowly wrenched open, you see a courtyard beyond.
The wind gusts about this small courtyard, filling the air with fine grit. Corpses litter the area, little more than bone and desiccated, leathery skin. A dry well occupies the center, surrounded by the remnants of an outdoor market, though even the best tent is tattered and leans precariously. To the east, a set of low steps rise to a set of stone doors surrounded by symmetrical wall carvings of pharaohs. Stairs to the south ascend to the outer wall.
