Shade Psion 18

There is a ledge around the entire room. It's thicker, and thus doesn't require acrobatics checks, around your door and the hole. Next to the hole is another door. The widened ledge in front of the hole stops just shy of the door.

Lantern Lodge

HP 13/16, AC 16/13/13, F +1, R +6, W +2, Init +3, Per +9 (low-light), Ki Pool: 3

"I agree, Raven-san." Omoro says as he begins to unstring his shortbow. "I will go with Jotune-san, and see what we might see in the rafters. The rest of you, wait here." He holds his shortbow out, carefully testing the ledge as he goes.

Mechanics:

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Strapping his greatsword across his back, Calendir tests the resistance of the ladder, as he starts to climb - "I will check up top"

Shade Psion 18

@Calendir: You need to make an acrobatics check to get to the ladder. I'll roll it.

Calendir manages to quickly and easily make it over to the ladder. He starts to test the resistance of the ladder, but seems to pause for a moment.

Calendir And Omoro:
You both notice that this ladder, much like the one in the first room you entered, is rotten badly enough that it will not likely support any reasonable amount of weight.

Dice:

Calendir's Acrobatics Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Calendir's Perception Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Jotune's Perception Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Omoro's Perception Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Turning to the others the half-elf quickly comments - "This ladder is not an option... It is utterly rotten... I'm guessing the door is our best chance - unless you REALLY want to get up there" - he adds, taking a grappling hook from his backpack, and smiling widely.

{HP 12/12 | AC 12 T12 FF10 CMD14 | F/R/W 1/2/3 | Inish+2 Per+0 SM+8} Female Peri Blooded Aasimar Illusionist 1

"Hmm, it would make a fine trap if an archer had been there to pelt us with arrows, only for one of our number to fall when trying to climb. But one would think they would have struck before the ladder had been discovered. Perhaps we overestimate our target's deviousness. I would thus change my vote to the hole."

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

I agree with you Raven. The ledge would have been a perfect location for an archer. Either our target has less resources then we originally though, or she is simply inept. Tapping her chin thoughtfully Nadja's eyes wander to the hole. I suppose I can't get more dirty then I am now. Nadja grumbles, still occasionally brushing off some of the filth that he had previously been covered in. [b]I suppose the hole is the best option.[b]

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

The elf nods at the half elf's words. "I'm glad you tried that before I. I'd have fallen n the sewer, despite myself. Calendir, Omoro, let's try the hole since we are already over here."

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Isn't there another door? I had the feeling that DM Bound Shade had detailed another door in this room... Holes are horrible places for greatsword wielders :/

{HP 12/12 | AC 12 T12 FF10 CMD14 | F/R/W 1/2/3 | Inish+2 Per+0 SM+8} Female Peri Blooded Aasimar Illusionist 1

"I have a trick to remove the filth on clothing, Najda. Though it won't help against other concerns of that waste."

Didn't think so, Calendir. Will need DM Bound Shade to confirm though.

The Exchange

I vote for the hole as well.

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

I'll take you up on that once we are done here Raven, does it get out blood as well? No matter, are we ready to proceed?

Shade Psion 18

Hmmm... There seems to be some confusion about the room and its layout. Let me post the map again. It's up on the Campaign Info tab.

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

OK, I am seeing is that the hole is about 7 1/2 feet past the ladder, correct? Or is that a door?

Shade Psion 18

The door you all came in through is on the south side. The hole is the gap in the wall on the same side. The ladder is leaning against the wall on the west side. The other door in the room is on the west side.

Female Human (Elven heritage) Archer (Fighter )1

"Sounds like the hole it is."

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

I'm not seeing the hole on the map. I see the two doors and a small break leading back to the last room we were in.

Shade Psion 18

That break in the wall? That's the hole. There was a hole behind the boxes where the goblins hid. A quick look through the hole shows that it leads into the previous room.

{HP 12/12 | AC 12 T12 FF10 CMD14 | F/R/W 1/2/3 | Inish+2 Per+0 SM+8} Female Peri Blooded Aasimar Illusionist 1

So the only way forward is the door then, it looks like? Onward to the door!

Shade Psion 18

Pretty much. There's not much of a ledge in front of it, though.

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

In a routine familiar by now, Calendir approaches the door as close as the ledge will take him, and listens intently.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

The Exchange

Welby casts guidance on Calendir's perception roll so add +1 please.

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Thanks ;)

Shade Psion 18

Calendir:
You can hear the sounds of high-pitched, squeaky voices on the other side as well as the voice of a woman, issuing orders to someone. It sounds like she's commanding guards to search the building or... something. It's hard to tell. She's not being very loud, so they must be near her.

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

While he swaps his greatsword for his longbow, Calendir whispers - "I hear more goblins, and defnitely a woman's voice on the other side - I believe we have found our mark... Get ready!"

Calendir will wait for the group's preparations - bows strung, etc., and after that will take his usual steps to open the door as before, swinging it wide and holding it open with his foot.

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

Jotune pulls his blade and prepares to enter into the breach behind the others. "Focus on the woman. Remember what our goblin said earlier. Take her out first and we can then deal with the others."

Shade Psion 18

Calendir shoves the door open with his foot. Beyond, the room is similar to the others, with the floor and ceiling rotted away and the basement a simple pit filled with sewage. A broken sewage pipe sticks out of the northern wall. A massive brick fireplace dominates the western wall, a ladder leading up to its base from the pit and another leading up the chimney itself.

Above you, a small platform has been constructed around the fireplace where it would've serviced the second floor. A varisian woman, holding a shard of metal in one hand looks down at you. A pair of sewer goblins flank her, holding shortbows. "No, no, no, NO! This is too early! I've just begun to build!" She pauses for a second, composing herself. "Magnimar will be mine. I'll be a glorious leader that will usher in a new age." She smiles down at you, "Now, kneel or die the dogs you are. Your master has need of you, one way or another!"

This woman definately matches the description you were given.

Assuming you make aggressive moves...

Initiative:

Calendir: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Raven: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Welby: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Jotune: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Aurora: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Omoro: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Nadja: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Natalya: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Goblins: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Order:

Calendir
Nadja
Raven
Aurora
Jotune
Welby
Omoro
Goblins
Natalya

Well, those rolls went poorly for them. Right, so if a fight starts, it's everyone, then the enemies.

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Quick question before I act DM, it would seem that the only access up to the platform where the woman and the goblins are, is climbing the stairs from the sewage pit - is this correct?

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

How far above us is the platform?

Shade Psion 18

@Calendir: Correct. There is a ladder from the pit to the base of the chimney, and then another ladder inside the chimney leading up. All in all, it's about 15 ft of vertical movement to get up there, plus about 20 ft of horizonal to get to the ladders (15 ft across the pit, then 5ft between the ladders).

@Jotune: It's a story up, so roughly 10 ft.

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

"We should try to get this one alive I guess..." - comes the half elf comment as he starts across to the ladder, drawing his greatsword.

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

Yes, I agree Calendar. Waving dismissively at the woman Nadja mutters. Go to sleep my dear and this will all be over quickly.

Slumber Hex (DC 17)

Lantern Lodge

HP 13/16, AC 16/13/13, F +1, R +6, W +2, Init +3, Per +9 (low-light), Ki Pool: 3

Omoro tuts as Nadja begins weaving another spell. He'd have to have a word with her later - but that was after the group was out of danger. For now, the bakemono had to die. He snapped off a shot at the one on the left, and rushing towards one of the ladders afterwards.

Mechanics:

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 sneak attack

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

Calendir I gave you the shackles correct?

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

I believe so yes Nadja.

I will be delaying my action until after the Slumber Hex - if the woman falls asleep, then Calendir will target the goblins with his bow - if not, then he will try to get up there as fast as possible to try and disable her.

Shade Psion 18

So actions I've got so far for Round 1 - Posted in order

Calendir - Delay
Nadja - Sleep Hex on Natalya
Calendir - Move across to chimney or target goblins with bow
Raven
Aurora
Jotune
Welby
Omoro - Fire at one of the goblins
Goblins
Natalya

Looking for actions from Raven, Aurora, Jotune, and Welby.

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

Jotune heads straight for the ladder, intent on not allowing the lady to stand up there unfetterred as the group determined what course of actio to take. "I'm going up," the elf grunted.

{HP 12/12 | AC 12 T12 FF10 CMD14 | F/R/W 1/2/3 | Inish+2 Per+0 SM+8} Female Peri Blooded Aasimar Illusionist 1

Round 1

Judging it looks like the enemies are too far away for color spray, correct? If not Color Spray them. Otherwise Blinding Ray, targeting Natalya if awake, or one of the goblins if she's asleep.

Blinding Ray: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Shade Psion 18

Correct, Raven. They are just outside of the cone and hopping into the pit would drop you low enough that the cone still wouldn't hit (plus the mess... eww...). Too bad, too, because that would be an awesome set-up.

Shade Psion 18

Actions for Round 1

Calendir - Delay
Nadja - Sleep Hex on Natalya
Calendir - Move across to chimney or target goblins with bow
Raven - Cast Blinding Ray on Natalya or goblin
Aurora
Jotune - Move across to chimney
Welby
Omoro - Fire at one of the goblins
Goblins
Natalya

That just leaves Aurora and Welby. I'll give them till tomorrow... morning probably.

The Exchange

Welby begins spurring on his companions.

Inspire Courage: +1Attack, +1 Damage, +1 Fear Saves

Shade Psion 18

Woke up late, went to work, then passed out for a while... ugh... Anyways, onto post. Since there's been no notice by Aurora, I'll skip her.

Order:
Calendir - Delay
Nadja - Sleep Hex on Natalya
Calendir - Move across to chimney or target goblins with bow
Raven - Cast Blinding Ray on Natalya or goblin
Aurora
Jotune - Move across to chimney
Welby - Inspire Courage
Omoro - Fire at one of the goblins
Goblins
Natalya

Round 1

Natalya waves dismissively at Natalya and the woman swoons for a second before she shakes off the effect, regaining her balance and alertness.

Calendir and Jotune leap from the doorway into the muck below. They wade across the pool and climb the first ladder, reaching the back of the chimney with Jotune on Calendir's heels.

Raven points at Natalya and a ray of blinding light leaps from her fingertips. Her aim is off, however, and the light connects with the nearby ceiling above Natalya's head.

Welby begins shouting words of encouragement to his companions.

Omoro snaps off a shot at one of the goblins and the suprised goblin falls from the platform, an arrow sunk deep into its chest. Omoro leaps from the doorway and makes his way across the pool up to the ladder.

The remaining goblin takes aim at Omoro and fires at the tengu. The arrow splashes into the pool near him, only the feathers visible above the dirty water.

Natalya spins about and casts a spell, obviously at something behind her. She growls, "Impertinant upstarts! You'll not have me!"

Spellcraft DC 16:
Natalya just cast grease.

Actions for Round 2, please.

New Order:
Nadja
Calendir
Raven
Aurora
Jotune
Welby
Omoro
Goblin
Natalya

Dice:

Natalya's Will Save vs Sleep: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 vs DC 17 Success

Calendir's Perception Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Jotune's Perception Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Goblin #2's attack vs Omoro: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 vs AC 16 Miss

(Female Human Witch 2 AC 12(16)/12(16)/10(14)/ HP 14 / F +1 R +2 W +3 (+2 vs Illusions) / Init. +2 / Perc. +5)

Cursing her luck and the unexpected willpower of her target Nadja grits her teeth, a cold glare in her eyes. I said sleep woman! Commands the witch, pointing with her fingers, booking no arguments. You will bow before my will!

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Standard action: Cast sleep hex (DC17), Move Action: Take any cover possible from ranged attacks

Male Half-elf HP: -4/9

Calendir is intent on climbing the stairs to get up at the woman as fast as possible.

Actions: climb the stairs, unsheathe the greatsword, attack with the flat of the blade - not sure how many of these will fit into a round - let me know DM Bound Shade.

HP 17/17, AC 16/13/13 F+4, R+4, W+3; Init +4, Per. +2

Jotune continues to follow on the heels of the half elf, trying to scurry up the ladder as quickly as possible.

{HP 12/12 | AC 12 T12 FF10 CMD14 | F/R/W 1/2/3 | Inish+2 Per+0 SM+8} Female Peri Blooded Aasimar Illusionist 1

Round 2

"Beware, she has summoned grease behind her!" Raven summons another bold of blinding colors to send at Natalya, determined to give advantage to her side.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Blinding Ray: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Female Human (Elven heritage) Archer (Fighter )1

Finding the calm center she always did in battle Aurora begins targeting goblins, her first shot, a whistling arrow, the loud keening designed to throw the creatures into a panic.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Grabbing a regular arrow almost as soon as the first is released, she swings her bow to target another of the monsters.

Round 2

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
1d10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Lantern Lodge

HP 13/16, AC 16/13/13, F +1, R +6, W +2, Init +3, Per +9 (low-light), Ki Pool: 3

Omoro shoulders his bow as he prepares to climb. "Hurry, bushi, while our tsukai harry theirs!"

Mechanics:

Not much to do this round but shoulder my bow and climb. I'm guessing I won't be able to make it in one round.

Female Human (Elven heritage) Archer (Fighter )1

If the first shot hits the goblin I guess the second one is at the woman, unless there's more goblins.

The Exchange

Did anyone add the bonuses from inspire courage?
