"Stop standing back up Sand Man!!!" Thresh calls out in frustration as he's never had an opponent take this much damage and keep fighting.
Attack1: 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage1: 1d10 + 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + (6) + 3 = 18
Attack2: 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Thresh delivers another furious flurry of strikes to the mummy and sends it crashing into the wall. The last attack would surely have ended all but the most gifted or toughest of warriors, yet the barbarian can see that the creature is still moving and starting to find its feet. It hisses in rage, clearly not defeated. While Thresh doubtlessly has the power and skill to send the King of Sand reeling, he does not seem to have the power to keep the old necromancer down.

Bella Tell |

Panic filling her eyes at all the stinging insects, Bella can only crawl backwards away from the combat, hoping the dreaded insects do not follow her.
Full retreat crab-crawling backwards until she can no longer hear the buzzing. She will then stand ashamed at her lack of courage, and consider her next action...anything but get close to those things.

DM Ström |

Tenzin once again pushes the outer turmoil of battle and beetle wings aside applying his focus on his sole skeletal foe. There is no wasted motion as the monk lashes out with his blade and separates head from body. A shudder runs through the derelict remains of an adventurer long dead and it collapses in a pile of bone, moldy cloth and rusty armor (damage was enough to shake and cause a wound).
@Tenzin: What is that +2 bonus to damage, is it from the Smite power?
Shomari and Bella are up.

Shomari Kali |

Slashing at the skeleton with his sword, Shomari manages to bite back his fear.
attack: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 wild: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

spirit: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4wild: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
So, I don't have my book handy, and offhand can't recall if wound penalty applies to damage rolls. Also not sure if I aced. They rolled d6 attack which would be a 5 parry, but I don't know all the variables. So that's either 9 (wound and no ace), 10 (no wound, no ace), 12 (wound and ace) or 13 damage (no wound and ace).

Cool, that’s certainly worth a bennie! Nice use of the hindrance!
Bella is able to crawl away from the chamber, into the darkness of the tunnel ahead. She dashes behind the nearest corner, leaving the buzzing of insect wings mixed with the clang of steel behind her. Surrounded by darkness the only source of light is the far away flicker of the torches behind. On the opposite wall the amazon can see the shadowplay of the battle against the King of Sand.
At the entrance of the chamber Shomari faces his undead opponent. Parrying another attack with his shield the ivory tribesmen ripostes with deadly accuracy. His forceful blow caves the chest of the skeleton and sends it backwards into the stone sarcophagus with a loud thud, were it once again lies lifeless (as far as I can recall wound penalties does not effect damage rolls, and it was indeed a hit with a raise. 13 damage is enough to shake and wound it to death).
That wraps up the round.
New round Initiative!

Shomari Kali |

Seeing that he is out of immediate danger, Shomari takes a moment to assess the situation. Hoping Namuda can handle the last skeleton, he searches the area for the gems that the cursed northerner pried from the mummy's eye sockets. On spotting one, he leaps towards it, slashing with the sword.

Another thought slowly occurs to the Northerner...Maybe if we put the jewels back into Sandy's eye sockets he'll go back to sleep? However to look at Thresh you would think he has no worries in the world as he begins to chant....
"Cut down the Sand man"
"Chop off his head"
"Crush all his bones"
"Make sure he's dead!"
With that Thresh gives a mighty roar and swings at the neck of the Sand King with all of his might!
Using wild attack and just making one attack
Attack: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Assuming that's a raise!

DM Ström |

Yes the +2 is from smite

Tenzin Casts about for the second gem but fails to spot it on the now churned up floor
You don't need a notice check to find the ruby. There is not enough debris to hide it. It's just lying on one end of the chamber, beside the stone sarcophagus (damnit, I'll never learn how to spell that word). All and all I'm not much for dice rolling everything, unless it's something really specific (or a special situation that SW has rules for, like social conflict, dramatic task, etc.). Usually a description of what you're doing is enough.

DM Ström |

Pushing the remaining skeleton aside Shomari heads for the one of the two aluring red gems that lie glittering on the chamber floor. With a mighty swing of his sword the splits the precious stone in two Enough damage to “shake” the gem and wound it a few times). From the innards of the ruby a crimson vapor spills forth a fills the small stone chamber for a moment, before dissipating without a trace. The buzzing of the insects in the room lessen in its intensity as a large number fall down lifeless on the floor.
All spirit checks against the swarm of insects are now at a +2
Following the splitting of the gem stone follows a horrible cry from the mummy, who yet again comes to life and desperately reaches for the red mist. The pose provides a nice target for Thresh’s axe that sweeps in a plucks both head a hand from the decrepit carcass. Both body parts fly through the chamber to land near the entrance, next to the ongoing battle between Namuda and the skeleton. Yet the remains of the king of sand still cling to its wretched unlife, as can all to your horror see all parts rattling unsettling. The dried up lips of the head starts moving to undoubtly deliver some evil curse, while the hand crawls up the stone coffin like a spider towards Thresh.
Bella and Tenzin (if he wants to do something more as a notice roll isn’t required to find the remaining gemstone) are up
Also, Happy New Year!

DM Ström |

Like Shomari on the opposite side Tenzin purposefully leaps over the dried up pile of bones, that moments ago were an undead monstrosity, and lands before the remaining glowing gem. A forceful swing shatters the stone who like its twin releases a murky red vapor into the room. It forms a maddening image of a screaming skull before it disappears into nothingness. One after another the swarming insects fall lifelessly to the floor taking their intense buzzing with them to the grave. The chamber and tunnels grow quiet except for the panting of the combatants and occasional water drop falling from the ceiling. Before Thresh the remains of the King of Sand has turned to dust, leaving only old and molded bandage wrappings to hint of the undead necromancers existance.
Fight over! You can all reward yourselves with a bennie for defeating the King of Sand.

Thresh kicks at the bandages on the floor in front of him. Looking around the chamber he notices the others in the party relaxing a bit and catching their breath. "Sand King, ha! The Sand King was no match for Thresh and Bane! Did you see how I hit him so hard he turned to dust?!"

Tenzin |

"You are indeed the mightiest of Warriors.... Now let us see to our injured and get out off this pestilential place"
Tenzin moves amongst them using his slight knowledge of healing where he can.
On Shomari Healing 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 Ace 1d4 ⇒ 3 Total 6 Wild 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
On Bella Healing 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 Wild 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
He manages to staunch the bleeding on both off them. One wound healed apiece
Anyone else need tending too?

Tenzin |

Tenzin lays a gentle hand on the Woman's shoulder.
"There is no shame in fearing death, it is with us always and is an unknown quantity.Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

Shomari Kali |

Shomari gives Tenzin a respectful bow.
"My thanks," he says, as his wound knits.
"How fortunate we are to have such a mighty warrior among us," he says to Thresh. Surely that isn't an infinitesimal hint of sarcasm in his tone. "I wonder where your shiny rocks went?"

Thresh looks around the room for the gems and spots their shattered remains. "Oh well, easy find, easy lose as my Da always used to say after a raid." Any sarcasm in the first remark would go over the head of Thresh.

DM Ström |

Eventhough the circumstances could be better Tenzin is able wash and bandage Shomari’s gristly chest wound. The slash from the skeletal warrior will probably leave a scar the ivory tribesmen feels no ill effects after Tenzin’s treatment. The jademan finds that the rest of the party is mosty unhurt except for small cuts from the locust swarm that will heal in time. Though a few are badly demoralized. Rika sists in the tunnel quietly sobbing with Gaius holding a protective watch over the girl and at the same time trying to comfort her. Dubaku puts up a more stoic facade but his eyes betrays the young tribesman. They have the look glazed look of someone who’s trying, and failing, to process what they just experienced.
Thresh searches the chamber for any remains of the spoils but finds only a strange black dust where he last saw the rubys. It would seem that the gemstones have disintegrated into dust, much like the remains of the King of Sand. His seach is not all in vain though. Going through the dried remains of the three skeletons he finds a few empire moons in a old and worn leather pouch (+ 50 moons).
As both Tenzin’s and Thresh’s activities are wrapping up you can hear Namuda calling for you down the tunnel. ”I found the marking. This seems to be the way forward.”

Shomari Kali |

Shomari grins and claps the northern barbarian on the shoulder.
"I believe we will become excellent friends," he says, then raises an eyebrow as Bella heads off down the corridor.

Thresh Darkon |

"The ancestors are going to be angry with me if I keep making friends with Southlanders. I should kill the next one I meet to even things out," Thresh thinks blackly as he continues along the tunnel following Bela.

DM Ström |

A palpable strain lies over the company as you continue to traverse the underground tunnels of Teyerana. The darkness presses on the outer edges of your vision, waiting right up to the end to budge to your torches and sweeping up quickly behind you to claim all that falls into shadow. With Bella leading the way you hurry through the corridors, the amazon quick to identify the symbols keeping you on the right path. The twisting maze of tunnels and pressing darkness makes it harder to keep track of time but eventually you see a light up ahead. Before you lie a torch lit tunnel, ending in a rickety looking ladder leading to a wooden trapdoor about 15 feet up.

Thresh Darkon |

"Climbing time!", Thresh calls out to his comrades as he clambers up the ladder, holding Bane in one hand. If the trapdoor is not locked he will open it and move through it.

DM Ström |

Thresh tries to push the trapdoor open but finds that it won't budge. Pressing some of his weight against the door he can hear the faint clank of metal, suggesting that the door is barred. Judging from the resistance of the trapdoor, Thresh also reckons that there is something laid on top of the door.
You can all make a smarts roll if you want.
Thresh, if you want to try and break open the door you can make a strength check

Thresh Darkon |

Thresh tries to push the trapdoor open but between holding Bane in one hand and balancing on a ladder, he's unable to get leverage. He climbs back down the ladder stumped at what to do. "I don't think we can get out that way."

Rebuffed by the trapdoor Thresh decends the ladder to contemplate his next move. Shomari comes up beside the musing barbarian to study the trapdoor. While the thoughts are rushing through both heads they both rember what old Makish said before ushering you into the tunnels.

Thresh Darkon |

"I am genius. I remember password to open trapdoor!" With that Thesh scramble up the ladder a second time and this time when reaching the top he taps two times in rapid succession and three times in slow succession.

DM Ström |

Pleased with his realization Thresh races up the ladder to tap the password on the wooden trapdoor. The lonely taps echoes through the tunnel, and are at first met with silence. A few moments later you can hear the faint sound of metal as the clasp is removed from the other side. Shortly thereafter there is the grinding sound of something heavy being dragged across the floor. Genius or not, the trapdoor then opens.
You can peer into a sparsely lit basement with all manners of crates stacked against the walls. Two young men in their late teens stare down at you, both with hesitation in their eyes. One carries a clumsy wooden club which he is slowly lowers to the floor. "Did Makish send you through", asks the other.

Bella Tell |

Bella ascends the ladder behind the barbarian, amazed that nothing has taken off his loud head yet.
I'm starting a two week business trip Monday, and should be able to post most days, but feel free to DMPC my character as required.

DM Ström |

The two youths continue to stare at Threash, uncertainty prominent on both faces. It is first when Bella climbs up from the ladder they move their eyes away from the barbarian. If their jaws dropped when they saw the imposing northlander, they positivly unhinge when ascaian emerges. It is evident that the pair have never seen a amazon before. The room slowly fills as the rest of the group leaves the underground tunnels, but none garner the same reaction as Bella. Gaius almost has to resort to yelling before the pair regain their senses.
”Sorry, friend”, the older boy stammers before regaining his composure completely. ”Your friend said that you would be needing supplies, but he did not mention that you would be so many. Do you want anything to eat before you set off? He said that you were travelling but not if you were in a hurry or not.”

Thresh Darkon |

"Food before a journey never hurts," the ivory tribesman says.
"Aye, bring us food boys before I cook the two of you. Mead and meat...and hurry!"

DM Ström |

The tention built up by Thresh and Bella slowly fades, much to the credit of Namuda’s jovial nature and Rika’s timid presence. Turns out that the two men are nephews of old Makish although you fail to see any resemblance. The two introduces themselves as Erlik and Avad. Stepping out of the basement you realize that you must have been underground for two hours at least, yet you haven’t gone that far. The magestic city walls of Terenya is still visible. You find yourself in a small settlement. A market made up of a dozen or so homes that also act like shops selling various gear. The head of this household is Erlik and Avad’s mother, a stren but warm Iron imperial middle aged woman called Tanya. During dinner she explains that she was married to Makish brother in Faberra and moved here with her two sons after her husband was killed by bandits. Since then she’s been handling her brother in law’s business outside the city walls. After dinner dusk has starting to fall so Tanya offers to house you in the stable or basement for the night.
Thus ends the prelude. You each get an advance (won’t bother with xp), and your bennie supply refreshes (if you’re below 3 bennies you get enough to bring you to 3, if you’re above you just keep the bennies you have). Is there anything you want to do, special equipment you want to try and find, etc. before we set off with the next part?

Thresh Darkon |

Thresh has his axe so he's ready to go chop some heads.
I'll post my advance in the discussion section and then update Thresh's profile.
