Hi and welcome all to this table of 1-05 The First Mandate for PbP Gameday 2018! We're still a while out from the start (on the 13th of August), but please check in when you're ready! While we're getting organized, please provide the following:
1. Player Name for the chronicle
2. Character Name
3. Class and Level
4. SFS# (and dash)
5. Which faction will you be championing?
6. Day job Roll (if any)
Also, if you have anything odd/unusual about your character that I should know, please say so now.
Go ahead and dot into gameplay as well when you're ready.
Cournae
|
Player: Jimbles the Mediocre
Character: Cournae
Class & Level: Mystic 1
SFS #: 330168-702
Faction: Dataphiles
Day Job: N/A
Nothing particularly unusual about Cournae, other than the fact she's a very squishy little ysoki. Looking forward to the adventure!
| GM Cellion |
@Terevalis: Oops, missed your question from earlier. This game is much more roleplay dependent. There's no starship combat.
Zye
|
Player: Zoomba
Character: Zye
Class & Level: Operative 2
SFS #: 127063-702
Faction: Wayfinders
Day Job: None
Definitely need to update Zye's profile. Just hit second level (well, forever ago, but haven't played him since)
| GM Cellion |
Zye and Terevalis, make sure to dot into the game when you have a chance. Probably in the week leading to the game starting I'll do another roll call to make sure we have everyone ready to go.
Miss Chiff

Hey all, this will be my first Play by Post.
Player Name: Dang-It (R.Blakely)
Character Name: Chiff (Ysoki Female)
Class & Level: Operative 1
SFS # 11338-701
Faction: Wayfinders.
Day Job: Librarian +7
Anything unusual about the character...She tends tends to wear skirts and always has something pink on.
So figured out the dot dot thing.
I am seeing some nicely done character profiles that show alot of info when you post. Is there a link that describes how to set that up, not able to find one currently.
Cournae
|
Hey Chiff! From a kinda-new player to a very-new player, welcome!
Here's a useful guide for general PbP etiquette.
We all load up our post headers by cramming as much information as we can into the gender, race, and class fields of our character profiles.
| GM Cellion |
Hi and welcome Dang-It! There's a lot of good ways to format your character profile, and everyone seems to choose their own unique method. At the very least, you need to have all of the information that would be on your character sheet on your profile page, and then to set up a stat line to accompany each of your posts (like you have so far) but with at least the info Zye has on his.
Feel free to check people's profile pages to see how they organized and formatted things. Here's one of my characters for reference. The guide Cournae linked is also a great reference when starting out.

Ok I think I got the basics set up correctly.
How does one set up the show/hide and what info went on which line/area.
IE what went on the name field, race field, etc?
Once I get this figured out I may make a template character and color code what went into each field/line, maybe have race all one color, gender all one color to better understand the setup.
| GM Cellion |
The status line is always in order of Gender-Race-Class, but the split is entirely up to you. The show/hide functionality that Cournae has is made using [.spoiler][./spoiler] tags in the relevant fields (with the "."s removed) though there's certainly no mandate to have things spoilered. What you have on your stat line right now is good enough for normal play.
Just make sure the rest of your sheet is all neat and populated and you should be good to go.
| GM Cellion |
Hi again boys and girls! I wanna get a quick head count to make sure everyone is here and ready to begin on the 13th next week. Now's the time to also let me know about any conflicts you might have timing-wise.
I'm going to send some PM prods to Terevalis and Marjim since neither of them are dotted in to the game.
If someone hasn't checked in by mid-weekend, I'll set out finding a replacement player.
| GM Cellion |
You just need to fill out the rest of your sheet Miss Chiff (not just the stat line)! Also, I noticed above that you gave me your Day Job modifier, but didn't roll it. Could you go ahead and roll it in the thread.
Otherwise, we're 4/6 right now (and I figure Cournae will be back), but if I don't see Mobius on Sunday I'll set about finding us a replacement.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Cournae is here! Apologies for being quiet. Ready to rock and roll!
Miss Chiff

Ok got all the info in there, had to input it in stages or it times out. Found that out the hard way. :)
Ok changed day job from librarian to administrative assistant.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
| GM Cellion |
Lol Mustachio. We are missing one player that I haven't heard from despite a couple of PMs and general summons in the recruitment thread. If we don't hear from him tomorrow (8/13), I'm happy to have you join in his place.
@Miss Chiff: Looks great. I'll be starting us off tomorrow!
| GM Cellion |
Still no response from our last player, so I think you can go ahead and take the spot if you'd like Mustachio. Make sure you provide the info from the top post above.
Mustachio Marino
|
Hi there! The name is Mustachio Marino. You may remember me from such roles as Bruno from "Undead Lover of Eox" and the Commencement, starring me, as the hero of the party!
1. Player Name: Mustachioed
2. Character Name: Mustachio Marino
3. Class and Level: Envoy 2
4. SFS# (and dash): # 258259-702
5. Which faction will you be championing? Wayfinders
6. Day job Roll (if any): I'll take a true savior of tasch checkmark instead.
There is absolutely nothing unusual about Mustachio. He is the most normal, everyday person you will have ever met in your entire life.
All my boons are slotted in my profile.
| GM Cellion |
Check out the gameplay thread for how to recall your base knowledge on these guests. If you want to take extra time (probably after this meeting with Luwazi) to search the infosphere for info on these guys, that would simply be a Culture check where you take 20.
Basically, the access to the internet lets you take 20 to recall information.
| GM Cellion |
Unfortunately, Life Science is trained only, so you have to have ranks in it.
| GM Cellion |
Alrighty, while we're all here, how about we do our boon rolls for this game! For those who haven't done this before: This is a Gameday, so lucky players (and GMs) may win a special boon to be used in SFS. To check if you won, roll a d20 in discussion here. If you have a 19 or 20, you're a winner and should have a second d2 roll to determine which of the two boons you receive!
Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Nuthin' for me!
Cournae
|
Lucky d20: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Oh well.
Mustachio Marino
|
Last time I did this, the GM rolled for everyone and "conveniently" put himself in last place... oh and look at that, the dice rolls just happened to give the natural 20 on the last roll.
Thanks for allowing us to make our own rolls, Cellion! Very aboveboard.
20 = 20 !!! ooohhh look at that!
j/k... here is my real roll
1d20 ⇒ 4
Miss Chiff

I checked my chronicle sheet and is has been 2 years since I played this character and over a year since I played. The dice know that my characters skills are rusty. I just need to figure out how to use the operatice trick with sense motive.
| GM Cellion |
@Miss Chiff: Trick Attack is actually a really easy-going ability rules-wise. You can justify it as "reading your opponent" in the case of sense motive (which is what my hard boiled private eye shirren does). Or if you use bluff, you can justify it as "faking out your opponent". Or as acrobatics "doing a sick flip to get into position to hit a weak point", etc.
And as Mustachio points out, in any turn you can use a full round action, its worth giving your trick attack a try. Since it lets you both move and attack, it doesn't stop you from doing what you were probably going to do anyway, plus it gives you a good chance of dealing some extra bonus damage.

Is that a wrap? What an exciting adventure! Thank you, GM Cellion, for running this scenario for us. It was a lot of fun!
Miss Chiff

Hehs.
My chronicle sheet is dated 9/10/17.
Ok so 1 year. Gah I misread it. So um 2 years for a ysoki, yeah that's it. I will have to work on ways to read my opponent in a descriptive manner. This was great fun!! I had a blast! Poor Chiff got spotlighted in borrowed armor, oh the shame. Though to be honest I have know idea what the Scoured Star incident is about. Also I would love some advice on better gear and such. I loved how all your characters acted and there thoughts and such, elven cheeses made me grin, Mustachio's being..,,Mustachio!! Donovan being the merc who has seen it all stuck with babysitting a bunch of non mercs. And Zye withthe trick shots and getting shot alot. So much fun. I will continue with this type of gaming. Also in future encounters with Radaszam, will have to ask him about any nearby windows. ;) So thanks to all and Cellion loved your descriptions and everything, BRAVO!
| GM Cellion |
And that's it for The First Mandate. Hope you all had fun! Since we had one no-show, we ended up running with a 5-man team, which definitely made things a little more challenging and certainly more tense in some sections! The fight against Triloteya in particular had a couple of lucky rolls in your favor that could have just as easily dropped Donovan or Zye to the floor.
I'll be reporting the game shortly and should have chronicles for you coming up in the next day.
If you have questions about the scenario or anything else, feel free to throw them my way.
| GM Cellion |
@Miss Chiff: The "Scoured Stars" incident is talked about in a bunch of places in Starfinder Society scenarios. The basic gist is that the large majority of the Society went to a star system on a super important and large-scale mission. Unfortunately, a barrier sprung up around their entire fleet and they were trapped (or killed, its unclear which because no one has been able to get past the barrier). Luwazi has been rebuilding the Society from the scraps left behind after losing all the experienced agents.
BTW Miss Chiff, I still need a boon roll from you (see a few posts up-thread for the details).
| GM Cellion |
Chronicles are ready to go. You can find them at this handy link! Thanks to your successes at taking the harder route (bombs + Triloteya at once), you gained the Honorary Spider boon, plus a bonus +1 reputation with the Acquisitives. And thanks to protecting Luwazi without incident, you got the Protector of the Future boon, plus a bonus +1 reputation with the Second seekers (Luwazi) faction!
Let me know if I mucked something up with your chronicle.
I'll try to keep the chronicles available at the above link, but make sure to keep a copy for yourself as well, just in case I accidentally move or delete it.
See ya all next time!
