Diviner Extraordinaire, Madeline Rose Bonnaire

Madeline sighs. “So it seems. Better this way so long as no one returns dead.” She looks to Lucia, correcting herself. “Not that they will, darling.” Madeline begins to study her spellbook. She slowly turned the pages she was intimately familiar with. Every rip, every crease and every mark on every page was known to her. “Let us hope both parties return alive. I’ll get more out of them that way.

The guard begins to speak up, but Madeline gives him a quick hush. Her familiar hoots, mirroring the action as it twists its head back to its master.

Clockwork Queen, Valentina Silverstone | Know Noble

Valentina takes a step forward and begins to rifle through Pathfinder’s bag, searching quickly for anything of value. She looks to Marcus and Halcyon, with a small shake of her head. “Branches and berries. Never found a druid I liked.” Valentina puts the powder back into her pistol, placing a small black bullet back into the gun.

Before Seth charges through the mirror he turns to those still in this room. "Someone should stay here with the girl and her dog to make sure that she does not run away. I will continue on."

Seth then jumps through the mirror almost bumping into Nishara as he exits the mirror. He stumbles past her and sees the man with his fists raised, and Raphael towards the back. "Can you deal with this one while I follow whoever is left?" Before Raphael can respond, Seth takes a cautionary swing at the man, to weaken him or scare him from fighting.

Female Human Wife of Seth Varianna

Lucia looks quite distressed, but still holding her composure. "I hope my husb... they all come back safe." She is obviously nervous, the events of the night starting to take their toll on her. "I want to have more faith, but my husband did not come with his usual equipment. He did not expect to have to fight anyone tonight."

Sorry for taking so long. Thanksgiving and everything has taken up my time. Also, I just updated Seth's AC to properly reflect his current AC because he does not have his armor or shield.

Halcyon begins to help the dog, addressing some of its wounds. For taking a bullet and a couple blades, it is rather remarkable that the hound lives. Pathfinder begins to move, though is greeted with a stare and aimed pistol of Valentina. The druid crawls over to Halcyon to help heal her dog.

+2 Heal, we will make it retroactive as she never did an action last turn.

She speaks to herself as she rubs the dog, avoiding its wounds. "...And things will return to how they were, just like he promised." The dog breathes steadily. While it is weakened, the animal seems it will survive this ordeal. She scoops it into her arms.

Marcus exits the Mirror world, followed by Raphael.

With the appearance of Marcus, Sage’s face scrunches. It appears he thought his compatriot would have put up more of a fight. As the kitsune begins to cast his spell on his sister, Sage takes note. While most of damage seems to be internal, Nishara’s expression indicates she is in less pain than moments prior.

Seth charges into the room, moving past Nishara and facing the large brawler. He brings down his longsword with a deft cut, slicing into his foe’s arm. Sage grimaces, reeling back for a moment. "Varianna is, uh, mercenary." Sage forces a smile, poorly hiding his pain. "It shows."

Swindling Shapeshifter, Nishara Tamarin

Nishara's Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Sage did not extend a fist towards the fleeing Nishara. She positions herself in the middle of the room. Nishara composes herself, looking at her assailant. She doesn’t raise her blade. Her skin begins to glow faintly, almost warmly. A kind smile comes to her face as three honeyed words exit her mouth. "Stop, won't you?"

To Marcus:
Your sister is using her Kitsune’s Charm ability. While it does give away a clue of your identities, it would take some serious sleuthing and knowledge of Kitsune to even have an inkling of association.

Sage's DC 14 Will Save: 1d20 - 1 + 5 ⇒ (13) - 1 + 5 = 17,(+5 due to Combat)

For a second, Sage falters. He stops giving Seth focus, turning his head to look at Nishara. The pain in his arm and side reminded him that now is not the time for these thoughts. Were they alone, perhaps without the fight and without his life on the line, Sage would have been captivated.

Sage raises his fist once more, but his posture changes. His core is lower, one fist in front of himself with another poised at his side preparing for a second blow. He realizes he is alone, and that this could be his final brawl. He takes a step in front of the mirror, putting himself in range of the three male members of the party. With a yell, he strikes back at Seth.

Halcyon volunteers to escort Pathfinder and her dog back through the mirror. She decides she might be better placed helping Pathfinder out of danger from her wounds and perhaps use diplomacy to convince her to tell her what is going on. "Come with me," she says, gesturing toward the mirror back to the Tall Tail. "Once I know there is someone who can watch you, I'll heal you further. There has been enough death tonight, n'est-ce pas?"

To Valentina, she says, "Come get me if my healing spells are needed."

Pathfinder doesn’t acknowledge Halcyon, but rises to her feet, dog in her hands. She continues to speak, walking back towards the Tall Tail mirror. “...And there will be no wealth, no owners, no masters. And all men in Durendal will once more be free...” Pathfinder walks into the mirror, disappearing. Valentina shrugs, giving no care to the rambles of the druid. She gives the bag of the druid to the Oracle.

Tell my servant “A Silver Tongue is worth more than Gold” if you need to order it. Be careful.: Valentina smiles, and while it appears genuine, her eyes show concern. She pushes her hair behind her ear, and walks through the mirror that the rest of the party entered, pistol at her hip.

The platinum haired woman enters the silver surface, appearing in the wardrobe. Her presence surprises Sage, and she manages to retreat a few steps without being attacked by the man. She raises her gun, aiming it at the man’s torso. “Tell me now: Fire or not!

Readied Action to Fire if anyone says to shoot at Sage.

Diviner Extraordinaire, Madeline Rose Bonnaire

Madeline responds to Lucia. “I came not prepared either, darling. Tell not a soul, but this evening has me rather surprised.” The diviner flips her page as the Druid re-enters the room. “A good sign. Guard, she is one of three.

The guard stumbles to Pathfinder, looking at her wounds with an auditory “well, s~!!.” He points to the floor, instructing her to sit by the wall. She obliges, looking only to Mako, her silver hound, as she takes her seat. He waves a sword around before he begins hiccuping, quickly giving up any professionalism he may have once had.

Madeline addresses Halcyon, surprised by her appearance. While her eyebrows pop up, she returns to her book, selecting spells with her familiar. “I’ll have my spells prepared for interrogation in a dozen minutes or so. Give me suggestions if you have any. Are they quite alright in there?

Sage is the big, fisted brawler you are fighting. Pathfinder is the druid with the dog currently back at the inn with Halcyon.

The brawler’s final stand lasted only seconds. A desperate strike from Marcus pierced through the large man’s stomach, skewering organs with a quick dark of the rapier. Seth slashes with a pivot, cutting across man’s chest. The mercenary turns to the mirror opposite where he came from, and took steps away as the brute fell to his knees.

Seth arrived at the other end of the wardrobe. Walking past Nishara, reaching the bureau and facing a reflection of himself. He breathes in and extends his hand towards the circular, frameless mirror.

And his fingers land on the surface, not passing through. This mirror is not magical it seems, or at least does not have any magic that the other mirrors have displayed. Seth’s hand falls to his side as a door wardrobe door opens on his left.

A woman in a nightgown looks at the mercenary. Her hair is dark, straight and long, reaching down her back. She freezes for a moment, taking a quick glance at the man hovering in and out of consciousness. Sage wavers for a moment, meeting her gaze as he coughs out blood. “V-Vieuxpont… Uh, On the list...” The man tries to rise to his feet, but falls defeated, collapsing unconscious in the closet.

Raphael casts a quick spell, looking at the woman and gaining some knowledge on her.

For Raphael:
SLA: Detect Evil results. Yup. Evil. Romane has a faint aura of Evil, and is the only detected evil alignment in your view.

For Marcus:
She does not appear to be magically inclined, nor does she have any auras on her. Whoever's house this is, you gather they must have a large degree of wealth. This closet is the size of most rooms. Besides the two mirrors, two jewelry boxes and hundreds of pairs of clothing, there is nothing of interest in the room.

Valentina puts her gun down. “Yeah, well, seeing her I know that now.” She looks down to the large, fallen man. She looks up to Marcus and Seth. She shakes her head. “And here I thought having men around would mean I wouldn’t have to do the heavy lifting.” Valentina goes to pick up the man, placing his limp arm around her shoulder. The body doesn’t budge as she tries to rise.

She turns to the mercenary on the other side of the room. “Well, if those muscles aren’t for show, let’s get going.” Valentina waits for Seth to lift the body off the ground. While he stumbles, Valentina takes some of the weight, allowing them to carry the large man. The two of them manage to heave the unconscious Sage through the mirror. Marcus passes through the mirror, arriving in a room almost completely cloaked in darkness. As Marcus stumbles in, his feet swipes against many small, metal objects. They brush away with a clink.

What Marcus can see comes from a light from what he presumes to be the opposite side of the room. A ladder rises to wooden panels of the floor above, and shine dim light to its surroundings. Junk piles onto tables and dusty furniture, overflows to the ground and litters near every seen surface. Broken glass, ripped papers, candles so far used you doubt they could carry a flame.

Nishara enters moments later, though she doesn’t trip over anything on the floor. While she could not be seen by her brother, her whisper announces her presence. “And I thought I was messy. Sleighs, old rusted armor, and gods, the rat droppings.” Marcus sees none of what she mentions with the exception of the rat excrement. It seems Nishara is able to see in this darkness, and her brother knows this is not a natural ability of hers.

From upstairs, a group of men speak somewhat slurred:

Valentina nods to Seth in agreement. “More interrogations, what fun this night has become.” Valentina smiles, rolling her eyes. “What a start to a new year. I’ll have to find new friends if this keeps occurring.

Valentina crosses into the mirror back to the Inn, helping drag Sage behind her. Seth follows behind her, taking most of the weight of the body. Raphael decide if you are coming back with them.

Valentina and Seth re-enter the Inn, propping the large man on the floor. The guard looks surprises to watch them walk out of the mirror. His jaw drops despite seeing it a minute or so prior. Pathfinder looks up to inspect Sage, but doesn’t give the returning party any special notice. She pets her dog and stares at the card presented to her.

PF Know Nature: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Its, umm…” she looks confused as she searches the card for meaning. “A fey. A grig, it looks like, though I’ve never heard of a clothed one before. It looks like they are dealing out something. I wonder if its deck is like yours.” Pathfinder counts the returning party, and seems a bit worried. She looks back to the card. "I don't know what a card says, looks like that's your thing."

Diviner Extraordinaire, Madeline Rose Bonnaire

Madeline glances up before returning to her spellbook. “Where is Mar- Nevermind. Tell me: when you all entered that first mirror, how many exitted to a place outside this one.” Her question is probing, almost demanding. She flips the page of her spellbook. Her owl departs her shoulder, gliding down to the bed. It stares at Seth and Valentina.

Swindling Shapeshifter, Nishara Tamarin

Nishara puts a hand to the mirror behind her. She sighs in relief when her hand passes through. “Let’s not get stuck someplace like this.” Though Marcus couldn’t see it, he heard a smile in her whisper. Nishara seemed to be enjoying their adventure.

The voices continue from above:
Man 1: "Just, uh, think ‘bout it for a second, will ya? Skiver’s a, um, he’s, uh, quick little rat, right? But being quick can’t break past Evelynn the Bulwark.
Man 2: “A tiger got through her armor, and we’ve, uh, seen Skiver take down loads of big cats."
Man 1: “That was, um,” the man burps loudly. The three men share a laugh. He continues. "One of them Tizonian dire tigers she faced. Ain't the same.
Man 3: “What’s the difference?

Nishara places her unseen hand down upon something. Light ruffling is heard as she searches in object in the darkness. "Please," she starts, "like I would visit a place like this. Do you think so low of me, brother?" Again, the smile is heard in her voice. "Anyways, what do you think of this?"

Disguise: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26

Her aura drops, but it returns a moment later. She speaks in a gravelly imitation of an earlier voice. "Look just like 'em, ain't it?" Her chuckle begins low, but returns normal, if a bit subdued. Another soft rustle and Nishara grabs her brother's hand, placing a glass vial in it.

Drinking the Potion:
Your sight seems to pulse for a second. Afterwards, the room gradually lightens. You see the room in its entirety. Most noticeably, Nishara is absent, replaced my a familiar figure. The first man from the mirror appears before you, blood dripping down his face, hair slicked back, smirk carved over his face.

Nishara flickers, and the figment fades. She dons her form, her true Kitsune form, before flashing back to appear as her human self. She smiles.

"Flawless, right?" She wasn't wrong. For those twelve or so seconds, Nishara was almost a dead ringer for the man from the mirror.

Halcyon slid the card back in her deck. "I want to help you, but I'm afraid you'll be blamed for one of the crimes committed this past hour. Did you have any part in the assassinations and murders? I know a lawyer who might help, if your friends haven't killed him. If you don't cooperate, I'm afraid you may be imprisoned or even executed."

Halcyon did not know enough about Roland or Galatian law to know whether any charges might be dropped, so she tried instead to bluff and diplomatically encourage the young woman into sharing something of her role in the evening events.

Seth follows Valentina through the mirror and re-enters the room laying the man down against a nearby wall. He scans the room seeing the Guard and to his surprise Lucia. He walks up to her. "What are you still doing here? I told you to leave and just wait for me."

Lucia looks at Seth as he speaks, looking him over for any injuries but not seeing the giant bruise Seth has on his chest that is hidden under his clothes. "I have stood by and watched at all the events unfold and I just... I just want to be here in case anyone needs my help."

As she finishes, Seth pulls her in for a hug. "It's fine... It's fine. But next time, if you might be in danger please listen to me. I won't allow you to be hurt." He releases the hug and heads back towards the mirror. "So what are we going to do about Marcus and Nishara? Are we going to help them or wait for them to return?"

Swindling Shapeshifter, Nishara Tamarin

Marcus:
As you have read Madeline's book's entry on Mirror Transport, you are aware that exitting the Mirror to somewhere else reduces the spell's duration by an hour. If the spell has not already faded, it is close to ending in the Inn as many of you departed to the Wardrobe.

The following previous post of Marcus has been edited as follows:
Marcus Tamarin wrote:

Nishara fiddled with some of the containers across the room, opening their lids and checking their contents. She seemed rather displeased each time she opened one of them. She flickered now and again from person to person, sometimes taking the form of popular clientele of the Inn, once mimicking Vincent Durant, another time copying their host of hours prior, Emile de Beaux. Mostly, she took the form of strangers to Marcus, yet some appeared vaguely familiar to him.

I can tell you’re jealous,” she began. Marcus saw her smile now. “I’ll teach you how to do it. It’ll cost a few days off though.” She inspected her reflection in a suit of armor that had seen better days. She flickers her shape once more, taking on blonde hair and golden eyes. Her chins rounds softly and her cheeks rose ever slightly. “Maybe a week. I could use a vacation.” She pouts at her reflection, but curls a smile when she changes the form slightly. The nose becomes button like. The golden eyes are brilliant. The blonde hair has a slight "bounce" before it tumbles down her shoulders. She admires her handiwork.

Marcus navigates the room, listening to the conversation above. Even with darkvision, his view was limited. What color the room had appeared bleached to him, but the potion at least allowed him to traverse the disgusting area. The room had no windows, but must have been a basement of sorts. Curiously, the basement itself has a latch leading even further below, closed and sealed with an iron lock that more resembles a slab of metal than anything created professionally.

Some of the older houses of Roland had escape exits that lead into the sewers. With the presence of the ratfolk in the last century, most had been filled with concrete. The men above continue their discussion.
Man 1: "The difference, is, uh, like a stray cat and one you’ll find in the forest.
Man 2: “Gods, quit it, will you? Just ‘cause you got a crush on Evelynn don’t mean she’d win every fight.
Man 1: “Sh-shut up, Jack. The, uh, wife’ll hear you if you’re that loud.
Man 2: “Eh, she won’t mind. Long as the Coliseum is cheaper than the brothels, none of the wives’ll complain.
Man 1: “Speak for yourself.

There a pause in the conversation above. Footsteps are heard.
Man 3: “No more of the grog?
Man 1: “None, uh, cold, no. We’ve got something warm below if you want me to get it.
Man 3: “Nah, guess I had enough if it means warm beer...

Back at the Inn, the druid nodded weakly. Either she also knew little on the laws of the country, or Halcyon’s kindness was having a genuine effect on her. “I’ll help, I’ll answer anything.” she whispered. “The councilor is gone now, I want this all to be over.” The druid turns and faintly smiles at Halcyon. “M-My name is Liliane.

Madeline looks up from her book once more at something the druid said. She wants to ask something, but her owl snags at her robes, pulling her hand back to her spellbook. The familiar and the wizard share a glance before they both look back down to the white book.

Raphael enters the room. Valentina twists to the mirror, raising her gunhand for a second before identifying the man. “Took you long enough.” The Guard appears stunned once more, slipping his hand over his sword as Raphael enters. Valentina looks to him. "Not the guy, stop worrying."

Valentina again rolls her eyes, this time as Lucia and Seth began to talk. “So sappy.” She turns to her construct. “Never let me act like that, understand? Add that to your prime orders. ” The robot whirs silently, unmoving. Valentina counts on her fingers. She looks to Madeline. “Seven. Two of them, five of us.

Diviner Extraordinaire, Madeline Rose Bonnaire

Madeline begins a whisper in an arcane language and twirls one of her hands. She looks up to the mirror. She raises a finger with each prediction she gives out. “Here is this Diviner’s first, second and third predictions. First, that mirror will only function for a bit less than an hour. Secondly, if one of you use it again, the spell will end. Lastly, whoever made his gloves was a sorcerer.” The diviner looks a tad proud of herself as she lowers her fingers. “So if you are to pursue Marcus, only one of you has that luxury.
