Following Cuthalian's lead, Alana activates Armored Mask(one reservoir point). Depending on their distance, she may whip out her spellbook and use a reservoir point to quick study one of her spells.

'doesn't look good?' Sensing that bears with axes might also be bears with tongues, Elathras calls out, "Hello! I'm Elathras and these are my friends!"

So did the bears carrying axes ever answer back?

"I'd rather talk, but fighting is ok too. May as well get it over with." Shrugging, Elathras moves forward, beginning to rage, he swings the guisarme at the nearest bear creature.

Headed to work shortly and I am up after the bad guys, so here are my two options:

not in melee:

Alana will try to drive one of the bear creatures back with a spell (Battering Blast) using a reservoir point to increase caster level "Dresekilir Drevab!" targeting the creature across from her sending it directly away if hit and then move into the middle of the rest of the party.

in melee:

Alana will use an immediate action as the opponent approaches to bring up her Shield of Faith (+3 deflection bonus costing 1 reservoir point) option from Armored Mask. She when her turn comes up, she will take a five foot step away from the opponent and then cast battering blast using a reservoir point to increase caster level at her opponent sending it directly away if hit "Dresekilir Drevab!" . She will cast defensively if it has an ability to follow her on the 5 foot step.

Battering Blast: You hurl a fist-sized ball of force resembling a sphere of spikes to ram a designated creature or object. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to strike your target. On a successful hit, you deal 1d6 points of force damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d6). For every 5 caster levels you possess beyond 5th, you gain a second ball of force.

A creature struck by any of these is subject to a bull rush attempt. The force has a Strength modifier equal to your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma modifier (whichever is highest). The CMB for the force’s bull rush uses your caster level as its base attack bonus, adding the force’s Strength modifier and a +10 bonus for each additional blast directed against the same target. Each sphere of force makes its own separate bull rush attempt—if multiple spheres strike one target, you make multiple CMB checks but only take the highest result to determine success. If the bull rush succeeds, the force pushes the creature away from you in a straight line, and the creature must make a Reflex save or fall prone.

"Thanks Thoron, but it is all good for me, I can bring that defense up on demand now that my Armored Mask power is up and running. Perhaps Elathras could use that particular charm instead?"

Because of the 'rage power' Elathras uses he has a very low AC, trusting in his ability to kill his opponent faster than his opponent can kill him. Thus why he purchases a lot of CLW wands with his portion. I guess answering would be easier if we know how difficult the opponent is. I don't know if Elathras put his target down or not. He wasn't attacked, If the 'werebear' is dead that easy, I'd save the spell.

While raging, the barbarian cannot be a willing target of any spell and must make saving throws to resist all spells, even those cast by allies.

Brv, did elathras put his 'bear' down?

Briefly looking over his shoulder, Elathras asks Thoron. "Help dodging? Do you mean holding on to my belt and then pulling me back when they swing at me?"

Seeing the bears with axes attack his friends, Elathras calls out "Leave them alone!" He then thrusts his guisarme at the nearest bear again.

At which point the bears change form into humans "You are not bandits?" and lower their weapons.

Silvash says "We are not bandits. We are traveling. Nice to know you attack first and then talk. At least you stopped. My name is Silvash Auerial."

"Wait, WHAAATT??!!" Alana gauges their sincerity for lulling us into a false sense of security:

Assuming their overture appears genuine, "Sorry about that," he says to the one he cut. "I thought it a bit odd that werebears would be attacking us but you were and defense seemed the only option. What has you patrolling here?"

Looking confused, Elathras Lowers his Guisarme "Bandits? Heck no!" scratches his head, he continues talking to the one nearest him. " Well not unless you count going to a graveyard and taking the stuff there."

He points at the bears wound, "Um, sorry about that I called out an introduction and no one answered so we thought you were dangerous." Shrugging he smiles, "But everything's all good right?"

"Sheesh no we're not bandits. We are an adventuring party. And may I ask who are you?

"We are rangers of the wood. There are many groups of bandits here."

'Many Bandit groups?' Hearing the bear-guy talk about many bandits, Elathras jumps in. "MAny Bandits? Do you know where they are? We could help you with them!"

"You referring to the hobgoblins lurking around these parts or men?" Cuthalian asks.

"Or, perhaps, both?"

"Hobgoblins, kobolds, trolls, men, and even a dragon."

"You don't say? Can you tell us more about these nefarious creatures and their whereabouts?"

"Yes tell us more. Is their a reward for clearing the woods out a bit?

"Reward? There is no clearing the Forest of these creatures. It is a magnet for evil. Best we can do is to deal with it. They prey on adventurers leaving Rappan Athuk laden down with treasure. Clear that out and maybe...."

'Good they don't mind if we take stuff from Rappan Athuk' Smiling Elthras nods, "We plan on doing that." Scratching his head he asks, "Do you have any recommendations before we leave?"

"More importantly, would you be interested in joining us on our crusade against the dungeon?"
