Tolvan
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Seeing the mist forming around Anna Tolvan recognizes it from their previous encounter. The Vilkacis, its going for Anna! Already armored with mage Armor Tolvan casts his shield spell and moves behind the paladin. Get a protection from Evil on her!
Anna Dunsany
Should I point out that I also rolled pretty good on my Perception, have a class feature that gives me a +20 to my initiative during surprise rounds, and a magic item that gives me an extra move action during those same surprise rounds?

You could, but in this case it won't matter. You noticed it as well, but you only know that it was going to possess you in hindsight. In any event, you couldn't have gotten away from it. In addition, if you take the time to notice what the mist forms into, it's already too late.
I'm not trying to be difficult here, this thing is supposed to be a recurring thorn in your side.
So Tolvan's move behind Oathar doesn't slow down Anna, just gives Oathar a chance for an AoO of some sort (hint).
Tolvan
plus 4 more points of AC from Shield and it/she can't charge Tolvan, so it/she "might" miss...
Danica Quinn
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20 What a crappy roll. don't know if this helps
Can Danica act before any of this happens? She has the Uncanny Initiative class ability; total of +8.
Oathar The Vigilant
Oathar takes his AOO swinging to do non-lethal damage
AOO: 1d20 + 13 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 4 = 26 damage: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (6, 5) + 13 = 24 unless he can get a flank.
Kimberly Snow
Hey all, been real busy, I am sorry for not being as active as I should be. So, anyway lets see now, Anna getting possessed (not good) trying to figure out game mechanics. well that is, mechanical?
Kimberly had barely gotten off the horse and was straightening herself up (prepping for some exploration) when the thing did its thing.
she quickly tries to recall what she can remember about this thing, was it undead? what magic will work? Suddenly she is awakened from her minor flashback by Tolvan shouting something about warding against evil.
almost instinctively she goes toward Anna By Pharasma's will ward my friend from the devices of evil. as she touches her, a flash of black light swirls around Anna.
cast protection from evil on Anna
Old Guy GM
Kimberly needs to roll a touch attack to hit the Anna/vilkacis. She is a unwilling target. You have a flank for a +2.
Oathar slams the flat of his silvered blade against Anna's side, causing a deep bruise to well up just under her right arm. It/She screams in rage and fury, whirling on the paladin. Her claws scratch at his face, and Oathar just barely manages to avoid damage from her attack.
ROUND ONE: Still need an AoO from Danica, and a touch attack from Kimberly.
Kimberly Snow
touchy feely: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
and the dice gods hate continues
Tolvan
At least you do not loose the spell Kimberly. You still have it on your hand and can try again.
Kimberly Snow
I just worry about the damage she can doe before that happens.
Danica Quinn
Monster Lore, Know Religion: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 + 2 = 27
Any more knowledge with regards to the vilkacis?
Anna Dunsany

No, please no. Not again, Anna manages to think as the spectral werewolf invades her soul once more.
Yes, again! the beast rages in victory. Her faint resistance is swept away as the animalistic hunger claims her and distorts her body. She smells the stink of fear and the mewling cries of her prey as she spins around. She sinks her teeth into the closest and is rewarded with a sweet gush of blood in her mouth. Another strikes her with foul metal and she snarls in response. She claws at the new one but cannot find his soft flesh, then she slips away from the small creature holding a glowing white cage that she instinctively knew to avoid.
She pitches her head back and howls as they advance.

Will: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6 Ugh!
The silver lances pain through her, but whatever's left of Anna retreats further beneath the howling rage.
Danica Quinn
"Hit Anna with the silver weapons. A vilkacis in possession of a person is in its weakest form. The silver weapon will aid her in her breaking the possession."
Danica uses her silver nunchaku on Anna. "Please forgive me"
Nunchaku attack, out-flank: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 4 = 20
Damage+Silver Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (5, 2) = 11
brvheart
Oathar's sword is silver, but that doesn't help when she rolls a 1 on her Will save. He will attack again for non-lethal on his turn.
Old Guy GM
[dice=Will]1d20+3+2 Ugh!
The silver lances pain through her, but whatever's left of Anna retreats further beneath the howling rage.
Remember you have +2 for being possessed before, and another +2 for your relationship with Tolvan, for a total of +4. Doesn't help much when you roll a 1, but for next time.
Old Guy GM
"Hit Anna with the silver weapons. A vilkacis in possession of a person is in its weakest form. The silver weapon will aid her in her breaking the possession."
Danica uses her silver nunchaku on Anna. "Please forgive me"
[dice=Nunchaku attack, out-flank]1d20+11+4
[dice=Damage+Silver Damage]1d6+2+2d6
That's another Will save Anna, then on to Round Two. Keep track of the damage they do!
Anna Dunsany
Okay, here goes. I've taken 11 lethal and 24 nonlethal so far.
Will: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 4 = 17
Old Guy GM
Just. Missed.
The Anna/vilkacis snarls as she is hit, then leaps to continue her assault. Her claws tear at Tolvan, ripping his shirt and drawing bloody scratches across his chest and arms. -12 hp Tolvan
PCs go. Anna, every time you are hit by a silver weapon, you can roll the Will save with the +4. Kimberly can still try her touch attack with the flank bonus. In fact, all of you would have the flank bonus when you attack.
Ready. Go.
Danica Quinn
Danica realizes that every hit she make hurts the vilkacis but it also hurts her dear friend. She knows that her friend can not take much more of this. When the time comes she will have to use her healing magic on her friend.
Attack, non-lethal, Silver Nunchaku, outflank: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 4 = 23
Damage, Non-lethal: 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (3, 3) = 14
Oathar The Vigilant
Oathar swings again with his silversheen great sword for non-lethal damage this time not power attacking
sword: 1d20 + 13 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 - 4 + 2 = 17 damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 6) + 7 = 17
sword: 1d20 + 8 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 + 2 = 25 damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17
confirm crit: 1d20 + 8 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 4 + 2 = 22 extra damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 2) + 7 = 14
That should hopefully put her unconscious with non-lethal.
Anna Dunsany
Holy crap, Oathar! Nice crit, but it puts me unconscious and then nearly kills me since nonlethal becomes lethal once you hit zero! I've taken 11 lethal and 38 nonlethal after Danica's hit.
Will: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 4 = 23
Despite the satisfaction of feeling soft flesh rent by her claws, the accursed metal hurt too much. Weakened and hurt by the silver, it loses its grip on Anna's soul. Anna finally forces the invading spirit just in time to see Oathar's blade swinging at her head. She ducks it at just the last instant with a squeak.
"Oathar! No, wait--!" she manages before his backswing crashes into the back of her head and she crumples to the ground.
I'm at -52 nonlethal and -28 lethal.
Tolvan
Getting confused about turn order here. I think Anna has hit Tolvan twice now since he has gotten a turn. Since he seemed to be the primary target his plan was not to be there again when Anna attacked, or at least not be there for a full round of attacks. Should he get a turn between her two attacks?
Dimensionally jumping away 15' Tolvan pulls his bow and the accompanying arrow's tip glitters with silver. As he looses the shaft he mouths the words Anna, I am sorry.
+1 composite longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 231d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Oathar The Vigilant
The first attack should have missed. If it did not, he would not continue to swing with Anna down. Sorry about the crit Anna!
Tolvan
And obviously Tolvan will not fire an arrow if Anna goes down. If that creature comes out of Anna he may fire at it though.
Oathar The Vigilant
So you are unconscious with 24 hp, correct? The excess nonlethal mean nothing except for the damage. 24+14+31-52=17 lethal damage + the 11 you already had. I am not counting Tolvan's damage.
Anna Dunsany
Yes, but since Tolvan got skipped, his arrow would have added another 9 points of lethal damage somewhere along the line. So 17+11+9=37, so I have 15 hp left.
Tolvan
My shot would have also given you another save, and maybe a chance to convince Oathar you were once again yourself before he struck... It gets confusing when things get out of order.
Kimberly Snow
ok, If Anna is down, can I touch her now with protection from evil? that way she won't have to worry so much later, of course we will have to worry when she finds out I could have prevented all that damage?
I mean it was Tolvan's idea for me to cast it, do you want to retcon back a few to see if it works? and avoid all this damage confusion?
Old Guy GM
Tolvan did not get skipped. Anna/vilkacis went first, and maintained that in the order. Sorry, I could have been more clear. As much as I hate to say it, I'm going with Oathar putting her down on accident - that was a great post by Anna! So: Tolvan can fire at the emerging vilkacis, and Kimberly can put PfromE on Anna's unconscious form. Both as their actions at the end of the current round, Round 2.
The cold mist pours from Anna's eyes and ears as she crumples to the ground, bloodied and bruised. It reforms into the snarling vilkacis - just in time to catch an arrow from Tolvan.
2d6 for silver vuln: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Let me get this on track and clear. ROUND THREE: The vilkacis; then the PCs.
The beast howls in rage, flying forward to tear at Oathar. A single claw reaches through his chest, armor and all! The deadly cold of the grave grips Oathar, tearing at his soul. -9 hp, plus another -3 cold damage, Oathar
You guys can go. Vilkacis AC 19/19/13, incorporeal, +2d6 dmg from silver weapons.
Oathar The Vigilant
knowledge religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Oathar swings at the creature twice activating smite evil and power attack:
silversheen greatsword: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 damage: 2d6 + 20 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 20 + (3, 4) = 36
silversheen greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 damage: 2d6 + 20 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 20 + (4, 6) = 37
Danica Quinn
Knowledge (Rel): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
"Oathar, the creature is wavering. It is badly hurt. FINISH IT OFF." I think Oathar's onslaught finished it off. Danica will protect Anna and Kimberly.
Danica pulls the limp body of Anna away from the ensuing battle between Oathar and the Vilkacis.
Tolvan
Afterthought: Kim could heal at the end of 2 instead, if she wishes. Or, use the Prot spell at the end of 2 and then heal in 3, your choice.
If she is holding the spell she would loose it if she cast another. Her call of course.
Seeing that silver hurt the creature Tolvan fires another silver arrow at the evil wolf spirit, if it managed to survive Oathar's attacks.
+1 composite longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 = 181d8 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (5, 2) = 18
Kimberly Snow
yeah seems like I would waste it either way. loos it or cast it on Anna I was kind of hoping that when she intended to cast it before people would have given that a try before resorting to beating her.
either way, Kimberly may be a little more delayed when suggested tactics are presented. after all if ya don't want to give them a try why waste the spells.
know religion... wait never mind info already known
Kimberly decides to let go of the protection spell, realizing that would be useless and her friends like to whack at things with swords instead. so Kimberly instead kneels beside her friend Anna, Sorry, I failed to help you. she whispers as she touches her and lets Pharasma's energy heal her wounds.
CLW: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Round 3
Kimberly repeats the casting again,
CLW again: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Anna Dunsany
That puts me at -30 nonlethal and 27 hit points. Still KO'd, I think.
Old Guy GM
Oathar's mighty blow cleaves the translucent form of the vilkacis, the blade leaving a trail of mist behind it as it passes through. The beast screams in agony, throwing its head back in a primal shriek.
Then it disappears.
Check the map, what's next?
Tolvan
Tolvan moves to Anna to check for a pulse, his expression all business and concern.
Heal: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10 Someone help her! he says a he reaches for a potion of curing.
Kimberly Snow
Kimberly was kneeling beside Anna as well, she looks rather flustered while begging Pharasma to not take Anna. she has already coated Anna in her healing energies.
when Tolvan asks for help, Don't worry, Its not her time yet, Pharasma has bigger plans for us.
she closes her eyes and mutters a prayer in a strange language and a symbol of Pharasma glows on the front of Kimberly's black Cassock.
A wave of healing energy washes over all
channel to heal: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 4) = 14
Anna Dunsany
With that, I'm at -16 nonlethal and 41 hit points. That should wake me up.
"Guh-uh!" Anna draws in a sharp breath as her eyes flutter open. She kicks and writhes for a moment in panic as she sees forms looming over her. Then she recognizes Tolvan and reaches up and hugs him fiercely with a sob.
Then she tastes blood in her mouth again and she pushes away from him, crawling on her back into a corner. "It happened again!" she shrieks as she looks at her hands and sees dark wetness on her fingers. "Oh, gods! Oh, I'm--" She buries her face in her hands and draws her knees up, not able to face them. "I'm sorry!" she whimpers, her voice muffled.
Tolvan
Tolvan is grateful that the healing energies that awakened Anna also closed the most grievous of his wounds. At least Anna was spared the sight of the worse of the vilkacis's deeds wrought through her. Anna, its not that bad. Tolvan says, turning his injuries away from her. And this time we will find that canopic stone and crush it so it cannot happen again. But to find it I need you in the fight. I need you strong. He reaches one hand to the horrified woman. Anna?
