moved your token for you, you're right at 20' range since the hallway is blocked by allies and I couldn't get you closer without a double move action.

Side note: This is Willow's first campaign so I haven't had the cash, PP, or opportunity to get her potions or a wand of CLW. Any assistance with healing would be greatly appreciated after this combat

Since I was looking at the papers, I assume I was over by the table when those bats came in.

Akaash pulls his morningstar from its place on his belt and cautiously steps forward, swinging at the now-flaming swarm of bats.

Morningstar damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8


Darnellius fire burns many of the bats and you can see that the swarm is smaller now!

@Akaash, unfortunately diminutive swarms cannot be harmed with weapons. I will bot Uri as I reminded im 24 hours ago.

Uri stays where he is and uses his wand of burning hands on the swarm!

Willow lobs her last flask of acid at the floundering bats

After watching the acid splash into the little beasts, she crouches in the corridor and waits, digging through her pouches looking for anything else that might hurt the buggers.


The last acid that hits the bats dissolves the main body of the swarm and you are now again in this silent ... and very ancient cavern that was not touched for ages.


You see black, dead bats everywhere and the smell of burned and dissolved flesh is almost nauseating.

You check all tunnels but they are too narrow to follow after a while and you cannot find anything more of interest in there.

You are certain that there is nothing to be found beyond the documents of those legendary Pathfinders.

After discovering that there is a mystery at hand, Willow seems more focused and less timid. After reading through the notes, she turns to the group.

The actions of these Eylysia intrigue me. What would a supposed Pathfinder be doing hiding her activities from the Society? I think that we should investigate this, so that we can collect up what she knew and report it ourselves. ...as well as learn it ourselves... There seem to be three leads, the false entries on the Wall of Names, the mausoleum of this Arkath, and the gnome Fimbrick. I think we should start now and take these in reverse order since the puzzle of the names might be easier with any information we glean from the others. If we bring this to Dreng unsolved he might take all the fun away from us. Your thoughts?

Willow gathers up the notes and limps back towards the wine cellar. In her excitement she almost forgot her pain.

Oh...those bats did a job on me as well. Until I get my first commission I don't have much to heal myself up. Now that we seem to be a group, is there anyone who could help me out? I'll repay you in any way that I can.

Where to next?


You start to look at the documents in more detail.

The papers chronicle the personal exploits of Selmius Foster, a famous Pathfinder whose name some of you recognize from their training as Pathfinder agents.

Most of Foster’s more infamous adventures appear here in varying amounts of detail, but it is evident there is another investigation he had been pursuing before he died: the lost records of a Society agent named Eylysia.

You find two very interesting documents, which detail Selmius’s thoughts on the matter, and an appended note from Adolphus.

See Handout #1 and #2 in the slides.

Together, these reference three major leads Foster had found. But it seems as if they never had time to investigate properly as the thoroughly compiled notes just stop at some point.


You decide to leave the cellar and the secret room and return to the upper level.

The kitchen personnel is a little astounded to see you again, especially with some of you having blood stains on their clothes. And although Heryn Gale is quite busy when you return she notices that you obviously were in a fight.

"Oh my god, what happened to you?!" she asks with great concern and wants to run down to see what is going on.

When you explain to her that you found the secret door she obviously is very surprised about what you found.

You can decide if you tell her about the documents or not.

Heryn then says "That is truly unbelievable and I agree with you. But to be honest such a matter has to be discussed with a Venture-Captain to align on the next step. I do not know what you want to do now but good luck to you! And please come back and inform us what to do with the room ... I ... I am still in shock ... unbelievable."

You depart to check the lead involving Arkath. Details left by Selmius Foster indicate the location of Arkath’s burial site: a plot of land in Eastgate operated by the faith of Asmodeus.

A fence surrounds the necropolis grounds, and although members of the faith of Asmodeus and city guards routinely patrol the property, you know that it is still legal to enter the grounds to respect the departed.

Arkath’s crypt is the northernmost structure on the map that you found in Selmius documents.

While the gates into the necropolis are left open to those paying their respects, the doors of the mausoleums are sealed with sturdy stone slabs.

You suddenly see a man in robes and a large pendant with the holy symbol of Asmodeus approaching. The man is holding up his hands and it is visible that he has lost several fingers.

Knowledge Religion DC 15:

This seems to be a low-ranking cleric of Asmodeus and based on your knowledge he has the responsibility to watch over the tombs of the honored remains of friends of the church. You also know that especially for clerics of Asmodeus guarding the sanctity of the tombs is the cleric’s primary responsibility, but each cleric has different motivations and sometimes evil goals.

Knowledge Local DC 20:

You know this guy! Durward is his name you believe. A former street thug, Durward lost several fingers and toes — and almost his life — before finding refuge among Absalom’s Asmodean priests. He enjoys his position of privilege and the powers granted to him by his god.

But you also know that Durward is ruthless in persecuting those who do not follow the rules and believes the strong should always be in a position of power.
