GM Lamplighter |
Based on the map it looks like I should be able to safely move w,w,nw,w,w and then channel negative energy excluding the paladins and scorpion again. DC 17 Will for half of 3d6
Alas, the secret door opened outwards, and so that acts like a hard corner, blocking the diagonal path around the affected area.
Diana Seraphina |
"Let the light of Eristil guide us!" Diana casts daylight on her bow then moves slowly to try and enter the room. Moving at half speed should end up just outside the door. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
GM Lamplighter |
Round 5
Pavanna vaults over the grease into the room, and channels unholy energy. Cepsihir's grievous wound closes up somewhat, and an involuntary shiver strikes both Krystiana and Diana.
Scorpion charges the Fly. Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 = 27Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12 The Fly reels from the slash.
Diana casts her spell, and the light or Erastil floods the chamber. She advances slowly, illuminating the room beyond.
Cepsihir maneuvers around behind the Fly, hemming the creature in and complicating its escape. His circuitous route prevents him from attacking this round.
Krystiana stands up and enters the room as well.
The Fly, hissing in rage at Cepsihir's fast recovery, bites Ossok instead. Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22Bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8; acid damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Ossok (NPC), badly wounded, swings his greataxe and staggers backwards away from the devil. Greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
End of the round - declarations for Round 6 please!
Krystiana |
Krystiana finally makes it into the fray and attacks. "की, उस पर शैतान करते हैं."
Move me north of Scorpions
Attack+Flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6
The dice are mocking me.
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Cepsihir |
NOW THOSE ARE RESULTS. YOU SHOULD BE COZYING UP TO THE LIKES OF PAVANNA...
A strange recklessness and rage fills Cepsihir's eyes; he continues to strike at the Fly.
Diana Seraphina |
Diana darts off the the north east corner of the room, spinning as she reaches it she lets a single arrow arc towards the 'fly'.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Point Blank: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
GM Lamplighter |
Round 6
Pavanna delays, watching the situation carefully.
Scorpion takes another swing at the Fly. Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13 While the slash doesn't do as much damage as Scorpion hoped, the Fly is being slowly but surely worn down.
Diana darts into the room and looses a single arrow. The arrow hits the Fly, but bounces away, leaving only a tiny red mark on its flesh.
Cepsihir attacks the devil with wild abandon, also missing. Scimitar: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
Krystiana steps forward and attacks the Fly with her flail, missing. She mutters an oath under her breath, glancing skyward, and returns her attention to the Fly.
The Fly is battered and bloodied, but still portrays an air of superiority. "You think you can defeat us by brute force?" the voice in your head mocks."Mortals are so uncivilized. By all means, bash away to your souls' content... you will pave my way back to the Nine Hells with your deaths!" The Fly smiles and flits towards the door slightly, biting at the wounded Ossok again. Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5Acid damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Ossok (NPC), nearly overcome by his wounds, calls upon the ferocity of his orcish heritage. He pulls a wand out of his sash, and invokes its magic upon himself. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 He straightens slightly, but still remains on the verge of death.
Pavanna sees Ossok's distress and makes a quick mental calculation. She moves to Ossok's side, drops her scroll and intones a paryer to the Lord of Law. Her touch reassures Ossok. Mechanics: cast stabilize
End of the round - declarations for Round 7 please!
Krystiana |
Krystiana Aeron Patricia Guiomar Zorion of Magnimar swings her flail with a look of intense concentration, trying with all of her might to knock the devil fly from this plane.
Attack+Flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Pavanna al-Azario |
He's Chelaixan (even if he is chaotic). I've offered to heal the damage after the fact. It's not PVP, it's temporary resource reallocation. PVP would be spitefully channeling negative energy and not healing the resulting damage. He's semi-botted at this point. It's cool though I'll do nothing instead.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 7
Pavanna sends a blast of negative energy through the room. The Fly and Diana both take the brunt of the fell energy wave. Will save - Fly: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Scorpion continues to attack the Fly with his sword. Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12 The Fly's eyes roll inwards and it flops to the ground, unmoving.
We drop out of combat at this point - please tell em what you want to do for the next few rounds regarding healing your own wounds and dealing with the dying Accuser Devil.
Cepsihir |
Barring any intervention from Pavanna in the next 30 seconds, or generous use of CLW after that grace period, Cepsihir will use his own Wand of Infernal Healing.
GM Lamplighter |
Ossok and Scorpions both accept Pavanna's healing (3 charges total).
After securing the secret room and ensuring no other creatures lie in wait, you turn your attention to the unconscious accuser devil laying at your feet. It is obviously still alive and stable. (Just want to know what you do about it...)
The secret room contains little of interest, save a second secret door (obvious from this side) which is operated by a locking lever from inside the room. this second door leads to a row of small cells which run the length of the cellar's central area. At the eastern end is the area obviously occupied by the jailer when such is present; a small table and chair are here, covered with carved graffiti including the name, "Rosh". Hanging on the wall is a ring of black iron keys, and these fit into the locks of the various doors throughout the complex.
The cell doors are stout wood reinforced with iron bands, with small barred windows at eye level. All contain a scattering of straw, a bucket, and a set of manacles affixed to the wall. Three of the cells also hold a single dwarf, manacled to the wall and barely conscious. After taking suitable precautions to avoid a trap, you free the dwarves and bring them around. They are all exhausted, starving and dehydrated, and bear many bruises and scars of recent origin.
The first dwarf you release, a woman named Rakuska Ingardam, tells you their tale as you release the others. "We stopped at Xer and paid our tolls, but then ran into a faith barge up-river," she begins. "They led us on at first, letting us bribe them until they had most of our money, then accused us of being spies. We put up a fight, but there were too many of them. We were captured, and brought here and thrown in these cells. The mute, he brought us food a couple of times, even sneaking us some treats from the kitchen - he doesn't seem to really know what's going on here. The smiling old ladies haven't been around since we got here, either - the only person we've seen besides the mute has been a ruthless Razmiri cleric named "Holy Ahendile". She'c convinced we're here to subvert the population against the government. " Rakuska leans back, her head against the wall, and sighs. "We've also heard some strange sounds down here... some kind of loud buzzing, and a wet sound, like a big mop being dragged around the floor. "
The other dwarves, Pechas and Holfist, are in even worse shape, and contribute little to the conversation beyond the occasional nod or grunt. Pechas is from the Five Kings Mountains, and Holfist is a Pahmet dwarf from the desert. You can tell that they both need food and water, as well as an extended rest, before they are able to do much beyond hobble for short distances.
Pavanna al-Azario |
Pavanna is more than happy to take the devil out into the hallway and kill it with negative energy unless anyone else wants to end the thing before it recovers.
Taking in everything Pavanna looks to her 'handmaidens', "We need to get these dwarves back to the ship and get out of here. If we see this Ahendile, end her."
Cepsihir |
"This one fears he knows what Rosh was being sent after."
Holy Ahendile, the Razmiri Cleric...
"We have taken care of those noises you heard; demonic sentries, this one imagines. However, the extrication might be complicated if the proprietors of the Inn above have sent for assistance. There are horses; they could bare you and your companions to our vessel. Please prepare yourself for the potential for a hasty exit."
Diana Seraphina |
"Perhaps one of us should scout ahead to make sure they're not waiting for us at the top of the ladder. The sooner we get to the barge the better off we'll be." She looks over the dwarves quickly, wand in hand checking for any obvious injuries.
GM Lamplighter |
You head back to the ladder, and cautiously re-enter the barn stall. No one is in the barn, but as you come up you can here murmuring from outside. Peeking through the slats of the barn siding, you can see there are two people standing in the courtyard. One, a man in chainmail, nervously fingers his bowstring. The other, a woman with short cropped hair and grey robes, leans casually against the well. They seem alert to your presence, although it is unlikely they can see you.
“In the name of the most holy living god, drop your weapons!" The woman shouts at the barn, her eyes scanning back and forth. "I am Holy Ahendile, ordained priest of Razmir and arbiter of your fates. Submit to my authority, and you may well earn more merciful treatment.”
Pavanna al-Azario |
"I am Pavanna al-Azario, living vessel of the Prince of Darkness. You, Holy Ahendile, seem to be confused for who's fate it is you are arbiter. It is your choice weather you allow us to walk out of here with or without your life." Pavanna looks at Cepsihir, "I grow weary of these fools." then looking back to Ahendile, "We have defeated your devilish guardians and freed those we have come for. Do you think that Lord Asmodeus would let His children fall before me I were not worthy? I swear before Lord Asmodeus that you will live if you bid us pass. I swear before Lord Asmodeus that if you do not bid us pass, you will learn the truth of Razmir at the gates of the Boneyard."
(Cheliaxian) Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Diana Seraphina |
Diana tries to see if she can detect any evil from the speakers and readies her longsword. She whispers to Krystiana, "Do you think they would ever let us walk out of here without a fight?"
Cepsihir |
Cepsihir grins at Pavanna.
"This one would accept any blessings you may bestow now; Holy Ahendile will meet her god shortly."
Cepsihir draws his scimitar, lowering his voice even more.
"This one will proceed first. You will know when to begin."
GM Lamplighter |
Pavanna's speech is cut short by a call back from outside. "Asmodeus! I should have guessed. Guilty of violating the Laws of Man! Admitted criminals, you have until the count of 5 to submit! 1... 2... 3... 4..."
Initiatives:
Cepsihir: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Diana: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Krystiana: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Ossok: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Pavanna: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Scorpion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Holy Ahendile: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Razmiri enforcer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Initiative order is Cepsihir, Holy Ahendile, Ossok, Diana, the Razmiri Enforcer, Scorpion, Krystiana, and Pavanna.
Due to time constraints, I plan on posting twice a day when possible, so please describe your character's battle plan in detail if you can't check in regularly. If we need to go back, that's easier than waiting for everyone.
Pavanna al-Azario |
"The laws of man? What ignorant horse droppings." Pavanna scoffs. "To the Boneyard with you both then!"
Pavanna looks at the enforcer while praying to the Prince of Lies and says "Run in terror little man. Ahendile does not value your life." Casting cause fear DC 14 Will Neg.
Cepsihir |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Must not like dancing.
Cepsihir responds to Holy Ahendile's ultimatum with action. Cepsihir places his hand on his face, as though removing a mask, and rips it downward, transforming himself into little more than a shadow. Stepping outside and toward the "cleric", Cepsihir draws his scimitar and pours every last ounce of arcane energy into it.
Cepsihir, unseen, approaches Holy Ahendile with ruthless intentions.
This one will dance with her regardless.
Since we're in the danger zone, I will be using my GM reroll at a +2 bonus on any failed attack rolls.
Turn 2: Barring anything crazy, Cepsihir will double-move toward Holy Ahendile (judging by the map and his little legs, it should take that much to get to her). If a single-move will do the trick, Cepsihir will get within a 5-foot step of her and cast Shocking Grasp (CL 3), holding the charge.
Turn 3: (Last round of invisibility) Cepsihir will attempt to use Spell Combat and Spell Strike on Holy Ahendile: First hit delivering Shocking Grasp at a +7 (+10 if Ahendile is wearing or using metal) bonus versus Flatfooted (6, -2 for Spell Combat, +2 for Invisibility, +1 for Arcane Pool, optional +3 for Shocking Grasp) doing 1d4+4 piercing, 1d6 sneak, and 3d6 electric. Second hit a plain stab: +5 to hit (6, -2 for Spell Combat, +1 for Arcane Pool) doing 1d4+4 piercing.
Diana Seraphina |
Diana will delay until after Pavana casts her spell. If the enforcer flees she will ignore him and rush Holy waving her longsword and giving a battle shout for Erastil. If he stands his ground she'll move into melee with him.
If i can get there with a single move I'll attack , Mwk Cold Iron Longsword +6 (1d8+3/19-20x2)
