Scorpion will move up to his speed to attack. If he can't reach any of the humans in one move he will go for the dog, heedless of any opportunistic attacks his movement may cause. If for some reason an enemy is stupid enough to get adjacent to him by his turn he will full attack it.

Bite Attack If Within Range:
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 91d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Round 2

Guard 1 (a.k.a. "Rezzel") drops his crossbow and draws his sword, a short broad blade well-notched with use. He turns to attack the closest person threatening his dog - Ossok. Short sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 The blades slashes across Ossok's chest, drawing blood. Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Guard 2 (a.k.a the red-haired woman) switches targets, following Rezzel's lead. Light crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23. The bolt buries itself deep into Ossok's shoulder.Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8 She then runs across the gangplank and tries to vault over the lifeboat Acrobatics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5, but stumbles enough that Ossok and Krystiana can both take attacks of opportunity.
Ossok AO - Greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Krystiana AO - Light flail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Unfortunately, both miss, and she ends up on the starboard side of the boat, with her short sword drawn.

Cepsihir puts the wounded dog out of its misery Scimitar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22, which draws a cry from Rezzel. "HOTSPUR!" He turns to the wayang with murder in his eyes. "You are dead, you stinking goblin, do you hear me? DEAD!" he yells.

Guard 3 evaporates into a fog of subatomic particles, hit by the dreaded "4-player reduction" ray.

Pavanna unleashes a blast of fire from her open palm at the red-haired woman, striking her full in the abdomen. She screams in pain and surprise.

Krystiana:
Rezzel does not detect as evil at all.

Krystiana moves in to try and disarm Rezzel again. His sword jabs out as she approaches, but misses. Short sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Krystiana's flail nearly catches the weapon, but Rezzel manages to snatch it out of the way just in time.

Scorpions steps to starboard to engage the red-haired guard. She blanches as he approaches, and then there is a flurry of claws and teeth. Claw #1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Claw #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 ONe claw rakes her across her arm, and she winces. Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Diana moves for a clear shot at Guard 2, and swiftly looses a pair of arrows. Both go wide, one hitting the ship's rail and the other tangling ni the rigging. (Description only, there is no penalty for cover)

Ossok, badly wounded, steps away from the fray and yanks the crossbow bolt out of his shoulder. He mumbles some words of power, and the wound stops bleeding and closes up somewhat, as does the slash across his torso. Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Round 3

Guard 2 (a.k.a the red-haired woman) stabs Scorpion with her sword Short sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16, just missing.

Cepsihir waits for his ally to close before attacking.

Pavanna readies her mace, eyeing the two guards warily.

Krystiana steps forward to attempt to disarm Rezzel again, and the guard turns slightly to meet the oncoming threat.

Cepsihir sees the opening and makes his move, slashing with his scimitar. Scimitar: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 29 - critical threat! confirmation: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 11 - not confirmed. Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + (4) = 11 Rezzel staggers back, clutching a deep gash in his side. His eyes now contain equal parts hatred and fear.

Krystiana tries once more to disarm the guard, but fails.

Krystiana:
Guard 2 is not registering as evil, either.

Scorpions continues to attack the red-haired woman with animalistic fury. Claw #1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Claw #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 This time, he manages to sink his teeth into her arm. Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

No, you don't. The tentacle doesn't grant you an extra attack, just teh ability to attack with grab. You'd have to not use of of your other natural attacks to use the tentacle.

To clarify - since Pavanna goes after the two guards, they will likely attack before she tells them to surrender. Those of you waiting will wait until it's their turn again to see if they attack, correct?

Round 4

Pavanna shouts, "End this foolishness now! My maidens meant you no harm, and this lesson in pain you have brought upon yourselves! Is today the day you die pointlessly in the line of duty?" The two guards exchange glances, but Rezzel's eyes harden as they turn back to Cepsihir. "I'm not gonna be the first to die..."

Rezzel lunges at Cepsihir with his sword. Short sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 - critical threat! Confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 - not confirmed. Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8. Despite his rage, he still steps abck to the gangplank, to avoid being cut off.

Guard 2 (a.k.a the red-haired woman) fights for her life, slashing at Scoropin with her short sword. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16, Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15(OOC: The last attack should have hit as well, as I misread your AC... instead of retconning, I just added the damage to this attack.)

Pavanna remains ready, looking sternly at Rezzel.

Krystiana surprises Rezzel with another disarm attempt. Her flail wraps around his sword and pulls it free, and it lands on the deck. His eyes dart back and forth like a wounded animal that has been cornered.

Cepsihir follows Rezzel with his rapier leading. Rapier: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 10 - miss.

Scorpions looks down at his wound, then up to the red-haired woman and bares his fangs. Claw #1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Claw #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Again his teeth tears the woman's flesh. Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7.

Diana fires a single arrow Arrow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7, which misses, She then fires her second arrow, Arrow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18, which finally hits the red-haired woman. Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3 The woman screams again and falls to one knee, dropping her sword.

Ossok hefts his great axe in Rezzel's direction and looks meaningfully at the downed guard. Rezzel puts his hands up with a look of resignation and fear.

Rezzel and Aleita, the red-haired woman, both comply with Cepsihir's directive. As she kneels, Aleita's face is a mask of pain, and she collapses to the deck. Rezzel yells, "She has a potion, in her belt. It will heal her." He looks at Pavanna imploringly.

As you finish, Metella sticks her head out of the hatchway to the hold.

Dwarvish:

"I don't think we need to convince them any further of our good intentions. Any crew of smugglers or brigands would have slit their throats. I'm sure they understand that and are plenty grateful we're willing to over look that hasty attack."

Rezzel looks up sheepishly. "We have nothing to report - you paid your tariffs and went on your way. Keep the potions, your magic is already healing Aleita."

He turns to Pavanna with new respect when she puts the coins in his pocket. He requests that you leave him the dog's body, for proper burial. He also fills out the necessary paperwork you will need to show proof of payment to other Razmiri enforcers you may emet along the way.

While you deposit the two guards onto the docks, the Captain is already giving orders to the crew to depart. In a few moments, the ship pulls away from the dock, turning its prow to the river.

Passad, Metella and Amauhak come up from belowdecks after the ship is well out of sight of Xer's dockyard. "Well, that went well," Passad begins, but Metella cuts him off with a glare.

"You oaf!" she begins, her face reddening. "Your "plan" almost got us arrested! Do you think those guards will really stay quiet? Every faith barge from here to Nerosyan will be after us." Metella continues to mutter to herself, and she storms off to the rail to watch the river go by instead of continuing her rant. Passad says nothing and withdraws, leaving Amauhak standing there silently.

(OOC: You all have time to do whatever healing or other tasks you would like to do in the battle's aftermath.)

As the ship settles back into the routine of travel up river, Passad once again comes on deck, followed closely by the two dwarves. Cepsihir pontificates.

Sister Li would suggest we be diplomats seeking to align with Razmir, though they are too sequestered and close-minded to accept. Trade Prince Al'Hakam would say business. Money flows quite freely in this region... perhaps this is our way in.

"Brothers and sisters, we have proof of our intentions to deliver goods up river; this one thinks its best to use this to our advantage."

...these papers need examined closely; Matella's paranoia is well-warranted.

"We are weary travelers seeking respite from sailing... at least this one is... and the Grey Revelation comes recommended highly."

This allows us entry; must we rely on subversion for the remainder?

"Passad, do we know more of this estate?"

Is there anything not genuine about the papers acquired in Xer that might tip somebody off about our raucous time there?

Krystiana nods at Cepsihir, "I agree with just being weary travelers. Unless, there's something notorious about this place where travelers would know to avoid it."

Krystiana:
The main recommendation of the Grey Revelation Inn is that it is about one day's travel up the river from Xer, and there is no other place to stop for the night.

Cepsihir:
The papers look genuine and complete, as far as you can tell. Passad also gives them a glance and confirms their veracity.

Metella listens carefully and then chimes in. "Weary travelers may sound like a tempting target for more abductions. Perhaps you are spiritual pilgrims, seeking answers to religious questions? You would be able to insist on privacy, and likely be freer to move about the Inn than the typical traveler who will be mistrusted."

Passad clucks condescendingly and shakes his head. "Really, Metella, the Razmirans will see through that transparent nonsense in mere moments. We are aboard a merchant vessel. We should take advantage of this fact." He holds up his hand to cut off Metella's retort. "Come now, if we tell them we are seeking a way station for a regular trade caravan of goods, we give them incentive to extend us every hospitality. And we don't endanger the divine standing of our passengers by forcing them to lie." Passad clasps his hands with a smug look on his face. "But of course, it is up to the Pathfinders to decide our plan..."

Diana nods to Krystiana, "We're weary and we're traveling, I don't think my stomach has enjoyed being on this boat, I for one would welcome getting to spend time ashore, I assume that the Grey Revelation is comfortable and dry at least. Best of all we remain true to our word."

Cepsihir nods at Diana's notion to spend time someplace that isn't a ship.

"With much respect Matella, Razmir's eyes are everywhere. We have a vessel, the documents, and the merchandise that prove our story, while mention of religion in such an intolerant land only serves to muddy the waters more."

This one desires a vast caravan of his own one day, and any experience and tutelage is welcome.

Cepsihir chooses to use the back-story of the weary merchant, per his personal conquests and Aaqir Al'Hakam's likely action.

I agree with comrade...Sneakyone...merchant disguise will be more useful than anything else. Besides, I can pull off bodyguard for seller, I cannot pull off pilgrim very well. For some reason the tentacle is seen as abominnanatieon.

"Well, that sounds wise," Passad claps his hands in satisfaction. "Now..."

A low cough interrupts the merchant. The Captain stands there, waiting for a break in the discussion. "Sorry to interrupt," he begins. "I wonder if you can come forward to take a look at something."

As you head forward, you notice the ship's speed has decreased substantially. Ahead, a heavily-wooded island splits the river in two. To the left, the river channel is largely overgrown with trees and hanging creepers, creating a tunnel effect that the ship would barely fit through without striking the mainmast. To the right, the far bank of the river is clear, and the thick vegetation is mostly confined to the island itself.

"Something's not right here," says the Captain. "I can feel it..." He stares at each passage around the island in turn. "Something's out there, waiting."

Passad squints into the distance, his eyes flipping between the two paths uncertainly. "Which way do we go, then? Which way is safe?"

The Captain replies, "Dunno. Maybe both ways are safe, maybe none of them are. You're the boss."

Metella grins, eyeing Passad shrewdly. "Yes, Passad, you are the great advisor, which way shall we go?"

Ill tidings if even the Captain doesn't know.

"This one would prefer a more open route. The Razmirans thus far have been easily dispatched, and undergrowth can yield hidden surprises."

It's certainly where this one would hide if an ambush were necessary.

Krystiana ponders aloud, "We've already displayed today that appearances aren't something to be taken for granted. Have you been through here before?"
