Venator

Spoiler:
The thing in front of you is what is called a grey ooze, an almost invisible creature that scavenges anything to eat from what it can get its hold of, its a little slow to react but it can be dangerous since it can dissolve what it touches

Jirani

Spoiler:
You think this is some sort of ooze, but your mind is just coming up blank to any specifics

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Aerodus stops, slowly drawing back his bow. He whispers to Venator, "What is it? See something?"

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Lia abruptly stops. "Should I turn my light off?" She whispers as well.

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

"Move back, NOW!" He moves back and send his Dancing Lights to illuminate the squares the creature is at. "There's a gray ooze there! It is slow, tough! Back away and shoot it!"

Dark Archive

Now, do you guys want to do this combat with a map? since it is just a long corridor; Also make an initiative check to get the ball going

Male Human Rogue/1 Knifemaster Scout HP 15/15 | AC:16 | Init +6 | Fort +2 Ref +7 Will -2 | Perception +3 |

Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Aerodus curses at what Venator reveals.

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
I don't believe that thing can run, can it? If not the map is not necessary.

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

No it can't run

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Makes me wonder... How would/could an ooze run?

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Lia groans when the ooze comes into view. "Great. Of ALL the times I forgot to prepare ranged magic..."

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

So initiative: Andando, Aerodus, Ooze, Lia and then Venator (The half-orc is non-combatant)

So Andando what do want to do?

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Since init was already stated I will hold until after the ooze goes?

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Well initiative 10 would mean you go first and since Andando hasn't posted his action first you can; though if he posts before you do then go after

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

Jirani will take a step back to get out of the way and pull his bow, Should we attack?

Readied action, shoot the ooze if the others say shoot the ooze, LOL

If triggered:

Attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 *sigh*

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

"Now!"

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Aerodus draws back his bow and fires his arrow at the ooze. "Take this!" Using a full round action to take a full-attack, if I can.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 16 if ooze is within 30 feet
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3 4 if ooze is within 30 feet

He then, with lightning speed, draws another arrow from his quiver, draws the bow, and fires it at the ooze. "Once more!" Using Rapid Shot

Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 2 = 10 11 if ooze is within 30 feet
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8 9 if ooze is within 30 feet

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

Here you have it. It is not hard, really.

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Just waiting for Andando & the ooze to go before I act.

Male Human Rogue/1 Knifemaster Scout HP 15/15 | AC:16 | Init +6 | Fort +2 Ref +7 Will -2 | Perception +3 |

Andando stabs the ooze, would be flat footed but ooze's are immune to precision damage I believe.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Well how could you tell it was flat-footed? :P; on a note, the grey ooze is only medium size
Aerodus hits the ooze with both his arrows shots, though its hard to tell how much damage that actually did

Andando hits the ooze though his blades don't seem to do much damage to it; roll two reflex saves please

The ooze retaliates at Andando with a single slam of its body
To hit 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10
grab attempt 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Lia your turn

by the way Jirani a 6 is actually a hit

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Round 1: Actions
Swift Action: Use arcana point for +1 enhancement bonus!
Move Action: Move up next to Andando
Standard Action: Fight Defensively with a Combat Expertise attack!

Lia's eyes widen as the ooze lands a solid blow on the rogue. She twists her hand along the hilt of her sword several times, causing the blade to thrum with power.

"Let him go!" She says as she moves alongside the ooze, swinging her sword with practiced ease. Her form is such that she is minimizing her chances of being hit with a retaliatory strike from the ooze.

Attack! (Arcane Enhancement, Combat Expertise, Fighting Defensively): 1d20 ⇒ 12
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Active Effects
Combat Expertise
Arcane Enhancement: 10/10 rounds
Fighting Defensively

Current AC: 18

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Lia scores a hit on the ooze and does some decent damage to it, but more importantly manages to get rid the acid from the ooze from her blade

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Also Venator your turn

Male Human Rogue/1 Knifemaster Scout HP 15/15 | AC:16 | Init +6 | Fort +2 Ref +7 Will -2 | Perception +3 |

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Andando you can see one of your blades begin to corrode as acid starts eating away at the metal

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

His magic being basically useless against the creature, and not wanting to hit Andando with a bolt, Venator draws the Obsidian Wand and sends a
"Magic Missile!" toward the creature.

Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 (49 charges remaining)

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Jirani's damage 1d8 ⇒ 7

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

Frickety frak! Tried to post my damage and it didn't stick grr! Internet connectivity issue. Sorry guys. I will roll my damage even if I think I miss just in case in the future.

I think I am up next so I will go ahead...

Jirani trains his bow, careful to aim where he will not hit the others as he advances close enough to fire for maximum effect...Basically move close enough so Point Blank Shot will work...

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage!: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

So Jirani scores a hit on the ooze

So Andando and Aerodus your turns

Male Human Rogue/1 Knifemaster Scout HP 15/15 | AC:16 | Init +6 | Fort +2 Ref +7 Will -2 | Perception +3 |

Andando sighs and strikes again. "No sport in fighting things that don't bleed or fight back with weapons!"

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Crit damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Don't forget to do the reflex saves on your weapons

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Aerodus scowls as Lia and Andando give the ooze some cover. He still draws an arrow and fires, confident that he won't hit his allies.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Point Blank Shot doesn't give me the -4 penalty of shooting into melee. Lia and Andando are providing the ooze Soft Cover, which gives the ooze +4 to its AC. However, there is no bonus to Reflex saves and does not allow it to make a Stealth check.

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

No to be "that guy" but soft cover doesn't apply to the ooze situation, shooting into melee does. The ooze isn't big enough to ignore the penalty and it doesn't derive soft cover from Lia or Andando because your allies don't impede your LOS. RAW it shifts the burden on hitting to the shooter rather than soft cover which shifts the benefit to AC of the shootee. This situation is exactly why the precise shot feat exists.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Oh. Well, thank you, Jirani.

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Well the ooze's AC is terrible, so unless you roll really badly you can still hit, now I'll just roll the ooze's attack while we wait for Andando's saves

The ooze slams at Andando again
To hit 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 4 = 12

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

So, while we're waiting for Andando's saves...

Round 2: Actions
No Action: 5-foot step to get north of the ooze
Standard Action: Fight Defensively with a Combat Expertise attack again!

Lia sidesteps forward as the slime lashes out with another pseudopod, missing Andando by only a few inches. Gripping her enhanced blade with both hands, she swings at the ooze again, hoping to inflict a more effective injury on the thing!

Attack (Arcane Enhancement, Combat Expertise, Fighting Defensively): 1d20 ⇒ 7
Damage (2-Handed): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
She manages to cut into the ooze again, even making sure the slime's acid doesn't linger too long on her sword--she saw how Andando's kukri began corroding after a few seconds of exposure to the ooze.

Active Effects
Combat Expertise
Arcane Enhancement: 9/10 rounds
Fighting Defensively

Current AC: 18

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

The ooze takes the damage though its still going; Venator your turn

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

Is Andando still grappled?

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

For now we'll assume he isn't for simplicity sake

Cleric 1 / Wizard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15(13) | T 11 | FF 14(12) | CMD 10 | Fort +3 | Ref +1 | Will +8 | Init +1 | Perc +4 | SM +8 | BoL 6/7 | AF 7/7 | Channel 2/3 | LF 7/7

Then Venator approaches and heals Andando!
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

Anxious to end thing Jirani draws another arrow, exhales and uses his training to fire into the melee.

Attack!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Jirani hits and deals the finishing blow, as the ooze's form melts away into the sewer

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Okay, Andando's been absent for a while. Perhaps we should instate a house rule regarding save posting?

Lia starts panting, her relief evident on her face.

"Thank heavens... I thought things were going to get even worse." She relaxes, her sword still glowing with white light.

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

The half-orc "It still may, if the hellknights behind us catch us"

What do you propose?

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15
Skills:
Climb +2, Diplomacy +8, Perception +3, Ride +4, Sense Motive +7, Spellcraft +5, Survival +7, Swim +2

How such a creature came to be here.... I am glad it only did the damage it did. We should move.

Are you thinking that there should be a time/GM Fiat rule in place that ulgulanoth rolls if it takes more than some set amount of time? I am in a couple of games where such rules were implemented.

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Yep, that's what I'm thinking.

Lia nods and looks around again, paranoid of any more potential attackers. She makes an effort to spot any more waymarkers they need to follow.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Of course, once the smell of the dead ooze fully mixes with the stench of the sewers, she promptly doubles over and starts coughing madly. So much for being on the lookout.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Ranger (Skirmisher) 3 | hp: 23/25 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | CMD 18 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +4 | +2 to all saves against divination effects | Init +3 (+5 in forest) | Perc +8 (bonuses in alias) | Sense Motive +3 (+5 vs humans)

Aerodus keeps his bow out, ready for anything else. He tries to spot any waymarkers or enemies.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 26 vs human subtype

Male Human Rogue/1 Knifemaster Scout HP 15/15 | AC:16 | Init +6 | Fort +2 Ref +7 Will -2 | Perception +3 |

I really thought I rolled those saves already, my bad. Regardless, even with the healz Andando is at -2hp and dying.

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Magus (Bladebound) 1

Lia looks up at Andando's unconscious body and feeds him one of her healing potions.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
It fixes his injuries, mostly.

"Come on! We need to keep moving!"
