@GM, as long as I can purchase a Mnemomic Vestment I'll be ready soon. Just need to buy a metric ****load of scrolls to go along with it.
Xichikitte
|
Ready to go after these purchases:
sell Mwk Lt Crossbow + Bolts +168gp; purchase Mnemonic Vestments -5000gp; purchase scrolls @25gp (Anticipate Peril, Comprehend Languages, Detect Undead, Expeditious Retreat, Illusion of Calm, Magic Missile, Reduce Person, Rite of Centered Mind, Shield); purchase scrolls @150gp (Eagle's Splendor, Flaming Sphere, Invisibility, Mirror Image, See Invisibility); purchase scrolls @375gp (Fireball); purchase scroll case -1gp; spend 2PP for potion of Cure Serious Wounds

With that handy Mnemonic Vestments, and the scrolls you just purchased, could I get a Shield spell stored in my Ioun stone from Xichi during downtime? I know the GM will have final approval of course, but I was interested in it. It's the only way Herrick would ever have a shield spell as it's a personal spell.
Garmit
|
I leveled up Garmit last night to Level 9, just have to update his Paizo profile and make a few purchases. Should have that update and posted tonight (in the next few hours).
Garmit
|
Player: Greenclaw
Character: "Trade Prince" Garmit Kee-ow
PFS#: 74677-3
Faction: The Exchange
Character level: 9
EXP Track: NORMAL
Day Job: Profession (gambler): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Garmit picked up a Quick Runner's Shirt, Handy Haversak and 2 Oil of Bless Weapon to replace the ones he used during the last game.

I got a response from Hmm and she says I am good to go at level 10.
Xichikitte, I had never heard of the spell Rite of Centered Mind. Is quite a deal as a first level spell even with its 1 hour casting time. What source is it from? And looking over your scroll purchase list I'd recommend against Flaming Sphere as the DC to avoid all damage will be pretty low.
Xichikitte
|
Xen, RoCM is from Divine Anthology.
I struggled a bit looking for a damage-dealing 2nd level spell and I thought at least FS might hamper spellcasters. I'm certainly open to suggestions, as the vampires' electricity resistance nerfed almost my entire direct-damage spell selection.
Princess Xen

The lower DC of scrolls is the problem. What about spells that require attacks to hit like rays but do damage without a save. Thinking of Scorching Ray at second level. FS is a fire and forget more or less, but I've seen it do no damage more than once. It only lasts 3 rounds, but has a potential 9d6 damage output. Likely it will require your move action for its second and third round to keep on target. I'd prefer the ray I think.
Lin Kai
|
Sorry took a while to update my character. Kai is now level 9.
Player: kuey
Character: Lin Kai
PFS#: 215076-8
Faction: Silver Crusade
Character level: 9
EXP Track: NORMAL
Day Job: craft(alchemy), alchemy, alchemy lab, crafter's fortune, take 10: 10 + 15 + 9 + 2 + 5 = 41
Kai upgraded his ring of protection to +2, and continued his collection of useful potions (for use with alchemical allocation) with a potion of neutralize potion.

Xen, the joy of Mnemonic Vestments is that I can use my own DC when casting from a scroll instead of the scroll's own DC.
But I think you're probably right. I'm liking Acid Arrow for the Long range and no SR (and fewer critters resistant to acid than fire), even though it's slightly less damage than Scorching Ray.
With GM's okay, I'll swap out Flaming Sphere for Acid Arrow.
Xichikitte
|
Oh, FFS, I totally missed that. I was thinking I could use it for all my buffs.
Now I think it's way overpriced and rethinking my whole strategy...
Herrick Whiteraven
|
If it was more than once a day, it would have to be much more expensive. I just figured you where using it for the, "We really need this now!" flexibility and the power of your own CL and DC. Even once a day is pretty good when you have all those options. It's very much like a wizard's arcane bond ability.
| GM Rinaldo |
Looks like you're still sorting things out, so I'll let you have time for it.
And you can't load a spell storing item between scenarios, but if time permits during the scenario you can, and if you don't use it I can note on your chronicle so it carries to your next one.
Herrick Whiteraven
|
Thanks for the answer GM Rinaldo. I'm ready, but it does seem like Xichi may need some time to rethink his purchases.
Xichikitte
|
Okay, ditching the Vestment and doing this instead:
sell Mwk Lt Crossbow + Bolts +168gp; purchase Metamagic Rod of Extend -3000gp; purchase 2x Ring of Spell Knowledge I -3000gp, purchase scrolls @25gp (Comprehend Languages, Detect Undead, Expeditious Retreat, Magic Missile x4, Protection from Evil x5, Reduce Person, Shield); purchase scroll case -1gp; spend 2PP for potion of Cure Serious Wounds
The rings will have Shield and Reduce Person cast into them via scroll as soon as possible.
@GM, can I assume I have enough charges left in my Shield and Reduce Person wands to get me through 24 hours of this scenario? If not, I'm left with only Mage Armor, which will have to do.
Assuming no objection from GM, I'm ready to go then.
| GM Rinaldo |
Xichi, they last a minute each and you were using them pretty liberally. If you haven't been tracking the charges, then I think it's reasonable to say you have 20 charges left of each. Whether that lasts 24 hours or not depends on how often you use them.
- - -
Let's do one last roll call to make sure everyone is good to go.
Xichikitte
|
20 charges each sounds good. Thanks for the ruling, GM.
Herrick Whiteraven
|
To hold off spending so many of your charges, don't run the short duration spells all the time. Just use shield and the others when you really think you need them. It's a bit more risky for sure, but if you play cautious it should work out.
Lin Kai

Kai is good to go.

+32 to Comedy... it is good to work it out occassionaly.
Progidy (comedy&dance) +4
skill focus (comedy) +6
circlet of persausive disguise +3 (competence)
masterwork jesters shirt +2 (circumstance)
charisma +4 (yes, I know others have better than that at first level, but he is a dwarf. I guess I should upgrade his headband to more than +2 at some point)
ranks 11
class 3
Oopse, looks like it should have been +33, not +32.
It is really the skill focus and Progidy feats that make the difference, especially combined with their bump at ten skill ranks that doubles their bonsues. You see characters pull this type of trick with perception all the time, but everyone is so used to god-high numbers in perception stats that they don't attract such notice.
Xichikitte
|
With +33 to Comedy you'd think he'd be telling better jokes. ;-)
Lin Kai
|
Yeah, I agree. Besides, Kai is eager to go save the rest.
Herrick Whiteraven

Agreed. The cultist keeps saying Balantiir is probably dead already so that likely means they were close to killing him and we don't have any time for thorough questioning. Onward!
| GM Rinaldo |
I ended up having a long relaxing weekend and forgot to check in Sunday night. I'll be trying to catch up on my games later today.
| GM Rinaldo |
Got to work and found several small fires I need to put out. Will catch up this afternoon/evening.
| GM Rinaldo |
So Friday is my birthday, and my brother is flying up from Texas to visit, so my posting will be reduced until Tuesday. I will check in whenever I am home, sober, awake, and feel like it. ;-)
Xichikitte

Happy Berfday, GM!
| GM Rinaldo |
Thanks, all! I'll be checking in probably once tomorrow, then back to normal schedule Tuesday.
Xichikitte
|
I will be out from Tues Aug 7 evening through Thurs Aug 9 morning Pacific time. I expect to not have any time to post.
Please bot me as needed. You may use any consumables (spells, potions, wands, items, daily-use powers, etc.) as necessary. That's what they're there for.
| GM Rinaldo |
Things going on today, not sure when or even if I will be able to post. It may be tomorrow before you hear from me.
| GM Rinaldo |
Today I'm catching up at work for the time off I had to take yesterday. I plan to post this evening after work, then things should be back to normal tomorrow. *crossing fingers*

Question for the GM: If I have Concentration high enough to auto-succeed on Cast Defensively, do I still have to roll?
This thread suggests I don't. Clarify, please?
| GM Rinaldo |
My position is that you do not. Cast Defensively is not a check that fails on a natural 1, so if you can auto-succeed, just point that out in your post and move on.
| GM Rinaldo |
Are we *really* back up? Going to try posting and see what happens ... if this works, I will try to get games going again some time today.
