Jelani is taking the brunt of the damage from the creatures, but dishing out even more of his own. Thistle feels the life force flow from him again to Bruce and Jelani, and then bathes all of his companions in a healing light.

Somehow, this healing light seems not to shine on the metal creatures forming as quickly as they are killed.

Life link heals Bruce and Jelani for 5 each.

Channel to heal: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 3, 5) = 16

Bruce should be full, puts me back at 72, and Jelani only loses 3 hp this round.

Bruce makes good progress together with Albert, despite the distraction of the swarm. Thistle radiates some positive energy out, while Jelani keep stormings away at the automatons, bringing down the second red automaton.

Jelani does not prevent the blue automaton from coming online, though, and it takes a stab at the rager, just as Alfred is working on the pedestral.

Thistle grimaces again as life force flows through the life link to the battered Jelani, whose wounds he can barely seem to close before a new one is opened. The Nagaji looks over his shoulder to see how Bruce is doing, hoping that his feverish efforts pay off soon.

I learned of a blog called 'status.paizo.com', which claims the downtime was due to a power outage. Down here in the lower planes, we keep some minions on treadmills, in case that happens...

Thistle tends to some wounds, while Caranthir is quickly draining his supply of arrows. All of them find their mark with clanging loudness. It takes two arrow to take newly forged automaton offline, allowing Caranthir to land a shot on another one.

The rest of the sentence is hard to hear over the explosion brought on by Fellgrim, who disperses the reclaimer swarm. Immediately, the mold starts creating a new one.

Jelani keeps up his destructive rampage, destroying another automaton, and severely denting the last last.

The one active automaton mindlessly aims for Jelani while Alfred continues his work on the controls.

Thistle brings in another round of healing, while the automaton ready for another round of strike. Suddenly, the whirring sound that seems to come from inside the metal constructs ceases, and the creatures freeze into place.

Got it! Alfred cries jubilantly, I have full control of the forge now!

In the west of the room, and hatch becomes visible. The hatch opens into a chamber where a vertical shaft drops into darkness farther than the eye can see. A square platform about 8 feet in diameter hovers at the top of the shaft. There is a bronze lever on the wall near the door, currently in its “up” position.

You can all make day job rolls, and I'll report this level.

The emerald spire dungeon is not for the claustrophobic. Going ever deeper, the adventurers find themselves almost a mile underground, so far that climbing up takes a day's effort, if not more.

The square platform start going down when the lever is moved. Is goes down and down, until it comes to rest on a dais in a small, square room. To the east, a short flight of wide marble steps leads down to a grand hall. A bronze lever, currently in its “down” position, is on the wall near the stairs.

The air is thick and humid.

Caranthir is one that would much prefer to spend time adventuring above-ground, not in the real of dwarves.

The hall at the end of the stairs is finished in honey marble and features four red granite columns. At the east end, an ornamental arch surrounds large stone double doors. The door is emblazoned with a large symbol: a skull with a crown. To the left and right of the doorway stand two large iron statues. Each statue holds an ornamental axe and shield, and has short, stumpy legs, a round belly, and a wide mouth above its sculpted beard.

DC 30 K(religion):

The skull-and-crown symbol is that of Nhur Athemon’s. When the party visited Fort inevitable, the High Mother Dremagne (Jelani owes her his life) mentioned it as a symbol of malevolent power.

Carefully scouting the hall, Bruce and Fellgrim make sure they do not go near the two statues at the end of it. Rather, Fellgrim uses his gloves to get a feeling of what is on the other side of the door.

Fellgrim:

Beyond the entrance hall is a ledge overlooking a huge and strikingly beautiful natural cavern. Steep steps descend from the ledge to the cavern floor. Covering the floor is a sprawling garden of weird blossoms, towering fungi, and alien-looking plants whose bulbs and pods sway in the still air.

A short distance away, the Emerald Spire pierces the center of the cavern. Paths lead east and west from the foot of the stairs through the foliage. The whole cavern is illuminated by a mysterious radiance that shines from the crystals embedded in the ceiling extremely high above. In the wall at the east end of the ledge stands a set of stone double doors decorated with reliefs of serene faces.

Caranthir then moves closer to the door, but stops when he sees the statues come to life, dropping their ornament to reveal two large creatures with huge, distented maws.

Jelani revisits his iconoclastic ways, and brings down his mallet on the tophet, causing a loud, hollow sound to reverberate.

Bruce knows stuff:

This creatures are tophets, large constructs that contain a large interior compartment. Part of the danger of these creatures is their ability to swallow their opponents whole. Apart from the usual defenses of constructs, they're immune to fire.

Yep... welcome to the high tier. Fortunately, these creatures don't have reach Maybe someone can draw the AoO's away?.

Fellgrim slowly starts increasing in size, while Caranthir fires another few arrows, which rain down on the tophet, freezing it, then breaking of pieces with a resounding boom. The third arrow that hits cracks open the rotund creature, splitting it in two.

Thistle nearly falls over himself to get to the big man as he is nearly cleaved in two. Before he can raise his hands to heal the warrior, Jelani batters their foes into submission. He breaths a sigh of relief as neither of them get back up.

Now with the time to heal, and without the urgency of the specter of death, Thistle uses the most efficient of his font of healing magic to bind the barbarian's wounds.

Might as well use the CLW wand here out of combat. Just roll however many times you need to fill yourself back up.
