Hassadah
|
Hassadah nods, humoring the poor man.
He approaches woman at the head of the class.
"Are you Mrs. Heracks? We're here to help. Can you tell us how we can help you and these students?"
Hassadah makes a sweeping gesture behind him which takes in the ten seated students.

Ad Deris enters the room, it takes on a much more animated appearance. The teacher silently gestures, the students nod and silently whisper to one another.
Deris puts a hand on Hassadah. "She is not good with strangers.... let me ask her for you."
He walks into the room and leans forward whispering to the transparent teacher.
After a moment or two he says "Good news, she says she knows the way and can take us there."

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
sense motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Unnerved by the way the students begin to animate as the gardener gets near, Samuldanach narrows his eyes, unable to wuite discernt the man'a intentions, the Half-orc is certain he must be crazy and that made him dangerous. Keeping quiet for now until they had an idea of what was going on, the Cleric waits for another to speak to the contrary.
Hassadah

Hassadah bows to Mrs. Heraks. "Many thanks."
GM Aerondor
|
Mrs Heracks walks jerkily out of the room. Outside she is even more transparent. Deris jabbers away to her about how the students are doing. A quick glance over your shoulders shows the students are ...totally still.
And a pause to allow others to post if they wish to

Deris tries to swat Evindal's hand away.
"Really now. That is no way to treat a lady and a teacher!" he looks most unimpressed with the elf.
Mrs Heracks certainly didn't feel very substantial, that however doesn't stop her leading you down a path and to a big, black, bubbling pool.
You spot a fully submerged severed human arm near the centre.
Samildanach The Dread
|
Following the strange man and his silent Teacher down into the necropolis, Samildanach unhitches his trident and holds it point down non-threateningly. His eyes darting as they wond down the path, Samildanach stops at the aight of the unnatural pool.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
"Gozreh's Guts! What an unnatural body of water." he exclaims before whispering to his companions. "There is an arm in there!"
Hassadah
|
As Deris and Mrs. Heraks move away Hassadah lingers behind to scan the classroom with detect magic.
Helluddar
|
Helluddar thinks for a moment, the warrior's faculties being taxed to their limit. "My first thought was of the unnatural... the undead. However, it is quite possible that this teacher and her classroom of students is nothing more than an illusion conjured to give some emotional connection or closure to this tragedy," he whispers to the Pathfinders.
GM Aerondor
|
Hassadah notes a residual trace of recent magic in the room. All around the necropolis though there is the a strong aura of necromancy. Even the preserved flowers outside.
Hassadah
|
Wishing that he had prayed to Iomedae for the ability to detect evil emanations, Hassadah hesitantly runs his hand through one of the phantom students.
GM Aerondor
|
Apart from a momentary chill as it passes through the 'body', Hassadah notes no effect from passing his hand through the student.
And he is by himself now...
Hassadah
|
Shuddering at the sudden chill, Hassadah hurries to catch up with his companions.
Samildanach The Dread
|
Samildanach turns to Helluddar and seems to ponder the thought posed to him by the warrior. All this arcane nonesense was beyond him, but he knew how to put down the undead if needed.
Calling out to the Groundsman, though Samildanach was slowly seeing him differently, he asks a question.
"What is with the black pool? Has anyone come to investigate?"
GM Aerondor
|
Deris leans closer to Mrs Heracks.
"She says the entrance to the Necropolis is at the bottom of the pool. She was down there some time... she probably knows it as well as anyone."
He then thoughtfully adds "Nobody has been allowed in to investigate before."
Samildanach The Dread
|
Samildanach shrugs and looks out into the murky pool, looking sideways towards the increasingly dodgy groundsman, the Cleric starts to move slowly through the pool, taking each step carefully and keeping an eye on his footing.
[b]"I will see what this arms about, can't be standing around all day."[/b-] the Half-orc says with reaignation.
Once at the arm, he eill peer to see if it is attached to anything.
Hassadah
|
Hassadah catches up with his companions just as Samildanach wades into the pool. He watches with concern, his hand on his longsword.
GM Aerondor
|
The arm appears to be holding a handle. It also has lots of ...something... all over it.
Samildanach The Dread
|
Samildanach turns to his companions, black water soaking the bottom of his gray robe which seems to not faze the cleric. He lools at the arm suspiciously and reports his findings.
"Aye, it's holding something, like a handle. Also covered in something odd, anyone care to take a look what it might be? Or should I just pull the handle?"
Nerisiel

Nerisiel moves in to examine the arm knowledge nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
"Those appear to be eggs"

knowledge nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"Not sure what kind of creatures come from those eggs shall we pull the handle?" she asks Samildanach
GM Aerondor
|
With a 21 I'll let you in on the type of eggs. They belong to a giant water bug. Such creatures have tremorsense, and will likely try to grab an opponent and drag them under the water to drown them...
Nerisiel
|
"Ah" Nerisial says as she opens her wayfinder to provide light "Water bugs those creatures tend to have a sense of exactly where people are in the water. Take a deep breath and stab the bug with if it tries to pull you under after we turn the handle"
Nerisial will then try and turn the handle
hoping it doesnt need a strength check but here goes in case it does

As she tries to pull the handle, the massive water bug emerges from the water.

Helluddar springs forward upon seeing the sea creature emerge from the pond. "Look out!"
He rushes up to the giant bug and slashes at it with his long sword bringing his shield into position to ward off any attack...
Move Action: Move: Move 10' to the SW entering the pond from the NW corner; then 10' through the pond (assumming dificult terrain) to the creature. Std Action: Power attack with his longsword.
Power Attack with Longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 for slashing damage of : 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Perhaps it was the pond unbalancing the warrior or perhaps the bug's carapace was to thick, but the young human knows he must do better if he is to help defeat the creature.

Helludda dashes into the pool, but misses.

Just as things look dark, a single arrow from Evindal takes the water bug in the throat. It drops, bleeding into the water.
Deris looks out from behind the transparent Mrs Heracks.
"Gosh, they shouldn't allow things like that on the school grounds."
Mrs Heracks nods her head in a jerky manner.
