Xiao detects no magical emanations in the area before sprinting out of the ruins trailing after the rest of the party.
moving quickly out of the ruins you hear small nattering voices rising and falling as the kobolds search the ruins nearby, searching for the escaped miners and the cause of their salvation. Within several minutes you're out of earshot and the jungle falls eerily silent save for animal calls. Returning to the dwarven runestones you have a moment to catch your breath and examine the leather satchel you found lying near the altar. Inside you find some spoiled rations, a notebook, and a carefully sealed elixir.
The miner you saved from the living plants earlier paces nearby, anxious to proceed back to Fort Bandu.
Felixe |
Felixe doesn't give Justin's comment a second glance (she has some occasional language problems too, 'cat' being her first real language).
Having a moment of peace, she pulls out the journal to have a quick peek.
Nali Faina |
If with her wounds, Nali holds the rear, bow still out as the herd of miners flee in front of her. As the group pause, she looks over Felixe's shoulder at the notebook. "A clue?" she asks.
Kolard |
Kolard is uncharacteristically subdued as the group leads the miners away. While they stop to rest, he looks back the way they came wistfully several times, each time shaking his head as if to clear it before busying himself tending to the miners.
Xiao Katsu |
Xiao is also very consumed by what they witnessed.
"I have to admit that I am slightly scared! Of course we were able to help these miners but ... but we have not found Sharrowsmith! And this horde of Kobolds could consume this whole region! What do we do now?"
Pelagos Sing |
Once it becomes clear they aren't being hunted down by a horde of kobolds straight from the bowels of the earth, Pelagos begins to thumb through the notebook they found. "Can anyone identify what is in this bottle?"

Journal is now up in google presentations slide if you haven't seen it yet.
Stumbling over their words the miners take turns recounting the horror of the attack on their camp and their trip to the temple ruins. It is clear to you that they had only recently arrived there and their fate may have been much dire had you delayed during your journey even slightly. They saw no sign of any other prisoners, pathfinder or otherwise.
Felixe |
Felixe hands the potion back to Pelagos. "It will greatly enhance your vision for a while," she says. While she glances at the journal, she listens to the miners, and asks, "Did you captors say anything about a great winged beast?" To the others, she says, "They may even have this thing chained up down below."
Nali Faina |
Nali frowns as she slowly reads the journal note. "Am...phib...ian...," she lets the word roll off her tongue as she thinks about the entry. After a couple seconds parsing the word, she brightens"Oh! Frog people! and Sylien has lead? If orb is protection from danger, then let us return with miners to fort, and ask for help for frog-people there!"
Justin Thyme |
"Are there any clues in that book about where we was headed next? I'm assuming he found the ball, the beast, or the bad guys. Although I'm having a hard time trying to fit the consortium into all this." he frowns deeply at a miner while absently stroking the his index finger across Bill's (dagger) sharp edges.
Pelagos Sing |
Pelagos nods his head in thanks to Felixe."Sylien is our only lead," he explains to Justin. "If they are involved, we will reveal it and they will be brought to justice."
Kolard |
"I guess goin' back and just fightin' the big scary monster right now isn't an option, huh?" Kolard asks hopefully, though not expectantly. "Walkin' back to the fort then?" He straightens up to head out.

Unfortunately the last journal entry is the only one providing clues to Sharrowsmith's whereabouts but it seems like this orb and Praetor Sylien may be your best lead.
Gathering your things you begin the trek back towards the Fort, made much easier by the night air and cloud cover that follows you during the early morning. Arriving at the Fort, the miners are met by families and loved ones near the gates in sporadic bursts of tears and relief as word has travelled ahead of you.
A small cadre of guards quickly gather you and escort you into the Praetors office. You find the formerly dour Sylien positively beaming as you enter. "Well it seems I was correct in my judgement of you! You've done much to restore the standing of your organisation here in Fort Bandu and have each gained my personal gratitude. Thank you for saving my people, I did not think it possible that so many would return alive."
If anyone has other games coming up please feel free to get into them, this is all just fluff wind down stuff and then I'll get your chronicles up sometime this week. Thanks for tolerating my sometimes sporadic posting, life is hectic but we made it hahaha.
