Viyko Kharde |
+2 AC to Ayla. Good roll, but Ivan would also suffer from cover if it profits from cover.
Yeah, I'm cool with that. +2 Ref, ability to hide, +4 to AC for both, right? Ivan's aid another would've been 12, then, not 16 (vs AC 10 for aid another), if cover applies to aid another rolls.
Viyko Kharde |
Vrykkas swings his staff again at the bugbear!
Attack:1d20+3
Damage: 1d6
And he's at an additional +2 to hit! (and +1 to damage if he keeps his attack roll.)
If the female bugbear is still alive on Viyko's turn:
Ivan skitters back up Viyko's pant leg (no AoO due to cover). Viyko then uses his slumber hex on the remaining bugbear, hoping to put her down for questioning. Viyko remains in his current square.
If the female bugbear falls:
Viyko rushes to whichever downed bugbear looks most alive and uses the aid another action to make a Heal check (DC 10): 1d20 ⇒ 20
"Someone stabilize this bastard before it bleeds out! I want to know why they ambushed us..."
The Primordial Dragons |
Round 5
Group 3
Vrykkas swings his staff again at the bugbear, but his attacke is deflected easily.
Rabbit again reaches out to Lethe, and she wills Olladra's grace to be passed to her friend.
"Spirits, guide Ayla's blade..." And the spirits listen, it seems, as Ayla’s blade slips past the bugbear’s tight defenses. (-4 hp to the bugbear)
Estelle circles the fight to close the access to the rear and tries to occupy the bugbear’s attention to favor Lethe’s attack. Aid Another: 1d20 ⇒ 15; +2 to Lethe.
Round 5
Group 1
Lethe attempts to finish off the last bugbear. Aided by Estelle and Vrykkas, her axe finds a hole in the defenses, and punches through to cut deeply in the bugbear’s shoulder. The bugbear blanches, but remains standing. (-12 hp to the bugbear)
Ivan skitters back up Viyko's pant leg. Viyko then uses his slumber hex on the remaining bugbear, hoping to put her down for questioning.
1d20 ⇒ 4
The bugbear's knees buckle and she falls to the ground, snoring heavily.
She could wake up... What do you do next?
Viyko Kharde |
"Someone grab a rope, or tablecloth and bind it! Hurry, work together if you have to..."
Viyko's attempting to get the others to tie it up (or at the very least pin it), using the aid another action if necessary. It's not Viyko's turn (have to wait on Vrykkas, Estelle, Ayla, Rabbit, then Lethe. On Viyko's turn the bugbear will wake again if it is able. I'll post when it's my turn.
Viyko Kharde |
Make sure everyone aid another... Escape Artist is DC 20 + CMB of person doing the tying (+2 per aid another), and the target cannot break free if the DC is higher than 20 + the target's CMB. Viyko (and hopefully the rest of you) wants answers, and maybe the gallows for the survivors...
Also, Estelle, your CMB should be +1, not +0.
Viyko Kharde |
Lots of Aid Another, but who's doing the knot and who's providing the rope? Since you only have one round, the one providing the rope won't be able to help.
Estelle claimed she was grabbing the rope... so it's safe to assume the next person started binding. The bonds are Escape DC 20 + binder's CMB + Aid Another attempts (DC 25 without Estelle or me). Only Lethe and I have a CMB higher than +1 (I'm +2 and Fatigued Lethe is +3), so it doesn't really matter who does the tying (Lethe and I won't be able to act 'til toward the end).
Once the bugbear is bound, Viyko moves up adjacent to it, drawing his dagger along the way (move action), and asks Vrykkas and Ayla to check on the other bugbears. "Are either of you able to see if the other two have passed beyond the veil yet?"
I'm waiting to see if it speaks at all before I do anything else.
Viyko Kharde |
f you have different houserules for tying people up, then I'm ok with that (just going by the default assumption), and here the rolls:
Ivan aid another (all the little knots) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Viyko CMB to tie up bugbear: 1d20 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 6 = 20 (+another 2 from Ivan, if successful, + another 2 if you'll count this as an "attack" since I'm rolling it vs. a humanoid)
I have to get to work, but I'll be back around 5 pm.
The Primordial Dragons |
1d20 ⇒ 7
The female bugbear is tied in haste, and as she wakes, she reacts violently to the feeling of restraints on her person. She curses and curses, then relaxes and grows silent. She raises her chin, looking at you from below with dark eyes: "Oh boy, you are going to pay when I get out... Naughty... Naughty...
The bugbear near the chimney is in Dolurrh, but the one with the flail can be stabilized.
For the future, I'm going to think on tying someone in one round, and whether to accept Aid Another to add to the DC. Could be discussed in the OOC. Please give me feedback there also on the fight if you wish.
Viyko Kharde |
"Lethe, ask the youngling to go back upstairs and cover her ears, please."
Viyko shoulders his bow and walks to the fireplace and picks up a small log. He saunters back to the bound bugbear and casts spark on the end of the log. His eyes glower as it catches fire, and he glares at the bugbear.
"There is a little game we played on occasion with scouts we caught from Thrane. I've never seen a grown man, so devout in his faith cry such like a baby as when my sister played this game with them. Let me see if I can remember how it goes..."
How much damage does a smoldering log deal if touched to bugbear flesh? I am not going to make an Intimidate check... yet.
Tauni "Rabbit" Desba |
With everyone in range, Rabbit will use channel energy, using selective channeling to skip over the two surviving bugbears.
First use 1d6 ⇒ 3 to everyone.
Second use 1d6 ⇒ 2 to everyone.
Third use 1d6 ⇒ 6 to everyone.
Fourth use 1d6 ⇒ 1 to everyone.
Total of 12 points to everyone.
Then she'll convert Deathwatch to Cure Light Wounds for Ayla. 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6. That should bring everyone up to max.
Tauni "Rabbit" Desba |
Rabbit will crouch close to the bugbear, but out of bite range. She'll lean in a little and press her hands together activating bit of luck ability on herself, use 3 of 6 for the day, and in a low voice tell her You'd be well served to tell them what we need to know: who sent you here and why. If you don't, they'll torture you; I've seen it done by men like this during the war. She'll raise a hand to ward off protests from her. I know, you are sure to be able to hold out against the pain. But when they are done, you'll be blind, deaf, crippled. Left helpless to beg in a town with no sympathy for your kind, unable to practice your craft ever again. So, please, spare us that and tell us what you know.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Diplomacy (second roll for luck) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Viyko Kharde |
Viyko stares at the bugbear a moment. He looks to the party.
He looks the bugbear in the eye while addressing his comrades, "If I for one moment think she lies, even if it's a half-truth, I'm lighting this again." Viyko snuffs out the brand on the sole of the bugbear's boot. (or bar/chair next to the bugbear's head, if she's not wearing shoes)
"Do not mistake me, child of Dhakaan, I may not be the scariest human you've faced in your years, but I have no qualms torturing you for information... or spell components if you are uncooperative."
He speaks to Lethe, "if her comrade, Fred, is still with us, bind him and take him to the kitchen. Make the same deal. Do not tell him this one is alive."
He looks to the female bugbear again, "Your deal does not include your comrade. He makes his own deal. If you tell everything to us, perhaps we will be generous and include Fred in your deal."
Intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 (even if this is low, Viyko is not lying. He's simply, and calmly stating facts with a simmering rage behind his words.) Aid anothers here are welcomed...
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Aid Another Diplomacy to Ayla: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Vrykkas the Pale |
Vrykkas nods his thanks at Rabbit for the healing. He moves over to the bound bugbear.
"Pity she's not dead. She would make an excellent servant. Still, doesn't hurt to take measurements." Vrykkas proceeds to take several uncomfortable measurements, making no pains to avoid damaging the suspect.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
The Primordial Dragons |
Fred is stabilized, but still unconscious. Lethe has no problem bringing him in the kitchen... The scene is revolting, as she finds scattered remains of Madrigue all over the place. It is obvious from the look of things, that they toyed with her and made her suffer considerably.
The iron smell of blood and burned flesh is overpowering in this room.
Lethe, Fortitude save please. DC 11 or sickened.
Lethe |
Lethe stands shocked for a moment before a low growl enters her throat she hurls Fred back into the main room and procedes back to where the others are "Madrigue is back there.......or at least what is left of her is. I do not care what deal you make with it but I am not simply letting it go free after what it has done." Lethe tells the others in a low voice so that the bound bugbear or a possibly overcurious Tika at the top of the stairs can't hear her.
"You may want to brace yourself" She warns anyone that tries to enter the Kitchen "What is in there is very unsettling."
Viyko Kharde |
Viyko makes a face to Lethe as if to state No, s*!! we're going to kill them, deal or not.
"I assumed as much when it threw Madrigue's boiling remains at us. Bugbears mercilessly torture their victims just for fun." Viyko looks back to the bugbear. "Perhaps I've got a little bugbear blood in my veins from long ago..." Viyko approaches her with his dagger drawn. "You better start talking, for your sake. The shifter likes to play with her kills first..."
Viyko looks to the group. "Check the other two for clues. Letters of payment, instructions, coins, whatever."
Waiting to see how the female bugbear responds to all of us.
Ayla |
"In exchange for my life and a safe passageway back to the woods, I'll tell you what I know..."
Calmly frowning down at the creature, Ayla points her scimitar down at the creature, and with a flick of her free hand, her Talenta Spirit Weaver Mask has replaced her face.
"~YOU WILL TELL US OR BY THE SPIRITS, WE SHALL TEAR AND CONSUME YOUR FLESH AND SOUL FOR THE WISDOM WE SEEK! THERE WILL BE NOTHING LEFT TO ENJOY WHATEVER PERVERSE MAD REWARDS YOU BELIEVE LIFE OR THE AFTERLIFE HAS FOR YOU. ONLY ENDLESS TORMENT OF BEING FOREVER DEVOURED OF OUR COLLECTIVE SPIRITUAL ESSENCE! SPEAK!~" Ayla eerily screams at the bugbear. Despite referring to a group, it is obvious she is speaking about herself.
Intimidate (Action point!): 1d20 + 1d6 - 4 ⇒ (11) + (4) - 4 = 11
Damn small sized penalty! ;_; Circumstance bonuses?
Her eyes sparkle with a tinge of madness as she looks at the stairs, pursing her lips.
With her free hand Ayla points to the stairs, her mask never moving, dark hollow eyes only for the bug bear. "~CHECK THERE!~"
Ayla doesn't believe in anything this creature would tell her with diplomacy.
Sense Motive 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sorry, had an interesting idea, and I believe it was a bit too different to constitute as aiding another. It's the way I believe Ayla would act.
The Primordial Dragons |
The bugbear stiffens, assailed by all side about what each would do to her in the afterlife. Vrykkas seem to have struck a nerve with his threats. "No, don't take my corpse!"
With Lethe's clear threat, she turns to the necromancer again, her voice changed and without strength: "Look, I'll tell you the little I know, but promise me a swift death and the destruction of my remains. No animation of my corpse!!!"
Ayla realizes that she meant the stairs as a threat to the little girl upstairs.
Those searching the bodies, please roll Perception and Appraise.
Viyko Kharde |
With Lethe's clear threat, she turns to the necromancer again, her voice changed and without strength: "Look, I'll tell you the little I know, but promise me a swift death and the destruction of my remains. No animation of my corpse!!!"
Those searching the bodies, please roll Perception and Appraise.
With that cleared up, Viyko starts rummaging about the other 2 bugbears very thoroughly (take 10 on Perception, since no threats). Viyko will stop and head back to the female bugbear if she doesn't start talking or things get out of hand.
Ivan aid another on Viyko's Perception, checking all the little corners: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Perception: 24 If roll is needed: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 20
Appraise, untrained: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Viyko Kharde |
"Vrykkas, if she doesn't start speaking immediately about all she knows, make her a zombie so Ivan can eat bugbear heart for dinner every night. I have a nice little spell that purifies putrid flesh...and another that restores a corpse's flesh to its state when it was killed."
