Chops walks up to the gates with his hands on his hips, staring at the moon and the sun . "Maybe this is something of the old gods," he muses as he half-heartedly shakes the gate. "I bet one of those birds could fly in there and see if there is a mechanism."
"What do you mean 'one of', pretty boy. We left the other bird back at the ruins." and flaps over the wall to take a look around.
Ragnar looks down at the hourglass hanging from his wide belt, and up at the doors. His eyes narrow. He puts a hand on the door and pushes.

With all of the spellcasters and learned folk working on this problem, Chops realizes that no one has been on the look-out for trouble. He doesn't think that his knowledge of legates and shadow creatures can help much hear, so he instead eyes the surrounding countryside for danger.

"Maybe there is some relation with metals. The moon is often related with silver and the sun with gold."
There is no knowledge religion in Midnight anymore, it is split between history, shadow and spirit.

"Anybody know what the sun and moon mean?"
"They are symbols revered by the Dwarves. When I was young they would bring weapons and tools across the plains to trade for furs and spices. When the shadow came, the last of their caravans fought along side our kin. The captain of their guards bore an axe with those symbols."
The big man looks up at the pennant flapping from his long spear, his face unreadable. His eyes distant.

| Eyvindr the Proud |
At first, Eyvindr does nothing but cross his arms and look on as his companions seek either to open the doors, figure out a way to scale the walls, or deduct clues from the old worg tracks. At last, he lends a hand to the trackers and takes a closer look at the lupine prints...
Survival: 11 + 6 = 17 (+19 vs. Fell) = +2 to Aid Another; Knowledge (nature): 2 + 4 = 6.
Then, he turns his eyes to the way from which they came in order to ensure that the party is not surprised from behind as they puzzle over the various mysteries that confront them...
Perception: 15 + 6 = 21 (23 vs. Fell).

Solvistania jerks around to stare at Eyvindr, wondering why she didn't think of that.
"Well, I see no reason not to try it."
She undoes her cloak, and reaches to the white bone item currently attached to the sash securing her dress to her body. She fingers it idly, wondering whether she needs to undo it. She felt suddenly self-conscious of her body, for some reason as there were several males around...

A slap is heard as the heavyset dworg palms forehead, "Babasi günes...Sunfather..." He turns to Ilona, "Dwarven blood, eh?" He walks back to the gates, grabs a hold, and attempts to open them.

"The sickly hand of evil is visible everywhere in these woods," says Eyvindr as he scans the surrounding landscape while Chops opens the door. "See -- the oaks are gnarled and stunted in an unnatural way, and they seem evil to me, perhaps more dead than alive... They remind me a little too much of the Fell... it is as if the Shadow had fallen upon these trees and twisted them completely -- limbs, trunks, and souls... Do not allow your guard to fall..."
The Dorn then turns his bear-head toward the now open, darkened portal. "Well done," he says with a nod to the dworg. "So the task needed not the white bone artifacts after all..."

He then looks up as the doors open at Chop's touch. A look of newfound respect appearing on his face...that one should not be underestimated...

The light shining through the door reveals huge hall covered by layers of dust. There are no sources of light inside, so you can't see far, but it seems that whole ground floor of the castle is just that one chamber. Some strange chill emanates from the open door. Perhaps because the castle was closed for a long time. Perhaps not.

The Raven swoops back. "I got nothin', Boss. Looks like-" the bird's beak snaps shut as it sees the open door. It land's on the big Dorn's shoulder. "-you didn't need me at all."
Without a word Ragnar raises a hand and sends his ghostly followers inside. As the ghost-torches reach the shadows they brighten, once again throwing pale blue-white light and dancing shadows into a long forgotten hall.

"Sky'tor, do you get a sense of how much time elapses between worg visits, and when the last patrol might have come by? It might be wise for some of us to stand guard down here, to keep an eye out for them..."

Chops the Defender Dworg wrote:"I also got that impression. We need to be careful."Ilona Ebonblade wrote:"Odds are those worgs were patrollimg to keep somone out.""Or keep something in," Chops shudders.
Gilian shivers at the others remarks. "I have a weird feeling about it" she says as she unwraps her atharal. "What kind of place is that to be so old noone know where it is? But now the door is open, let's see what it holds."[/b]
