Since Ergo has been here for a while, are we to assume that he has been down to the village, and might know something about it? We might need a little more guidance to find a reason to adventure together.
Ergo simply watches the exchange between the two he had noticed before hanging about the hostel, and the new arrivals, hesitant to pick sides.
Yarovuk Greypelt
"city-folk" Greypelt adds, derisively, cutting himself off before allowing his commentary to manifeat destiny on his brother's floundering endeavor. Instead, he exhales sharply throughhis nostrils to indicate a smell he doesn't like.
Haria Lalaslith
Haria places her hands on to her hips as she speaks, "Captain, it seems we have people listening in on other people's conversations, particular our recent conversation outside the hostel."
She looks at the two of them and the wolf, be continuing, "Then deciding on their own to follow us."
Ivulfr Halfrgeirr
Ivulfr chuckles. When you stop in front of people and speak its not listening in when they think you may be addressing them. Its politeness. Perhaps you should aim your requests a bit better in the future. He turns to his brother. Come brother perhaps one more turn around this hellhole before bed will turn up what we seek. If not we will sleep in the woods tonight as we were met too. He turns to leave snapping his fingers for his wolf.

"Sleep in the woods? Wonder what that would be like, ...", as she trails into thought looking back at the town below, Hmmm... think the southern part has better chances for a tavern, "Captain, maybe the southern part." when she hears another voice.
She notices the odd looking dwarf speaking, "Good sir, perhaps you may be able to aid me with a little issue. I am trying to locate a friend, who is staying here briefly before moving on. Could you point out the taverns and inns, would be a great help."
Haria Lalaslith
Hearing another new voice nearby Haria turns to see who has spoken, looking the man from top to bottom. After a brief pause, she speaks softly, "I sure you know that the military appearing in various locations are by order, and the citizens need not to know why the military is there. Could be preparation for war, unrest, or simply carrying out investigates. Military involvement details is on a need to know basis."
Hearing the dwarf willing to help, she quickly turns to follow the dwarf, speaking sharply, "Come Captain, no time to waste in our search. Let us see what is here to offer."
Alex Louis Armstrong
When the pale man approaches, and asks about the military, Armstrong relpies
I am Captian Alex Armstrong of the Armstrong family, subject and under athority of The Alitar Imperial Army. Sir. I am here on escort duty but am unothorized to devulge any further information.
Something wis different about the pale man, a hunch? Or maybe the way he held himself or his atire. Either way it prompted further conversation.
Now I recall seeing you aboard that airship aswell. Might i inquire as to why you are here? And for some reason you dont seem pure civalian as well?
Then Haria beaconds Armstrong to continue on with her.
So Armstrong shruggs
It seems i have need to be moving on. Still, i am interested. Would you walk with us for a spell?

Guys, please choose one among you who will speak for the group and make decisions such as to go somewhere. In order to quicken the pace a bit, let's assume that you got to know each other fast and decided to go to the town together. Please, talk about your choices in the Discussion Thread and let me know who is the party leader/face.

As you enter the Blackthorn proper, you can tell the sharp distinction between two parts of town. Northern part mostly consists of poorly maintained single-story houses, while the southern part of the town is filled with small shops, trading places, taverns and large houses with two or even three stories beyond the ground floor. Southern streets are covered with cobbled stone, while the northern are mud and crushed stone from the mines. Distinction can be seen in the dress of the inhabitants as well. Southerners seem prosperous and even happy, while the northerners are moody and poorly dressed.
Most of the people you encounter seem curious about you, though, no matter from what part of town.
Haria Lalaslith
"Lead the way to the tavern.", allowing the dwarf to lead the way stepping in next to Alex. She looks from time to time at the pull wagon the dwarf is pulling along behind him, becoming rather curious of what is under the cover.
As she walks she every now and then turns to look behind to see if the strange humans they met above the town are still following.

As you rush toward the sound of cries, you stumble through the well-kept streets lined by large houses with walled-off gardens and iron gates. After mere moments, you reach a moderately large crowd surrounding a women in an expensive yellow dress with intricate silver jewelry. Her skin is crimson in color, and her hair as black as raven's wing. She wails, calling for her child, while a similarly crimson-skinned man in a dark blue clothes and yellow skull-cap holds her tightly, watching the people around him with deep sorrow in his eyes.
Some of the people are obviously Carcosans, as the grieving pair, but most are of Imperial origins, and there are even some Borderlanders. The disparity in wealth between the two fractions of onlookers is painfully obvious.

One of the richly dressed Carcosans looks at you and steps back seeing the huge Borderlander brothers. "You will help? I think not! Not when only Carcosan children are missing. When will it be enough for you? This is the seventh child this year! When will you leave us alone?! The closing of the mine was not our fault. The dwarves decided to go - and that was even before we got here! Why don't you ask your friend what is wrong?", he shouts, pointing at Ergo.
Ivulfr Halfrgeirr
Looks at the people dumbfounded. What in the name of the all consuming darkness is wrong with you people? All of you. These people have just lost their pup. And yet you stand around gawking and blaming people who literally have been a handful of days. Instead you should be working together to find the child and track down what or whoever took it. Now as for myself and my brother we will seek the child if someone will give us something more than accusing us of doing it. You fools. If this was my home the we would already be hunting. Instead you Stan here like lumps accusing folk and doing nothing. He says the last bit with a snarl.
This is an attempt to intimidate/shame them into helping.

Ergo quickly looks around to see if the man is pointing at someone behind him. Then realizing it is him. "Me"! "How would I know". "I only arrived hear a short time ago myself, and this isn't the friendlies town on the planet". "I have no idea what is wrong".
Ivulfr Halfrgeirr
Looks at the woman and nods. Yes between Geri here and my brother we should be able too. No one should have to suffer like this. But we need some clothes or a favorite toy to get the scent from. And more details so we know where to start our search.
Haria Lalaslith
After some time remaining silent Haria finally speaks, though softly, "Captain Alex and myself are from Solitude, headquarters of the Last Watch military force. Instead of blaming these two borderlanders and the dwarf, just because what they are.", pauses for a moment, "Everyone should be focussing on returning the child to the parents. We will be offering our help to these borderlanders to locate the missing child. Please provide them what they require so we can get going in finding the child. Also can you tell us where the child was, when the child was last seen. And of course what the child looks like too."
