At that, Big Al's gaze snaps over to Dorian.

"You understand him? He's speaking a real language?" She asks with some visible relief. "What's he saying? Anything important?"

Nic's black orbs settle on Dorian before shifting back to watch the ominous black storm.

Abyssal:
"Mine worked. Your spell seems to have blinded two of them. Mine blinded all three... and slowed their progress."

Abyssal:
"It also did the same to us! In case you hadn't noticed, we're almost as hampered by that storm as they are!

Look, I appreciate a good cloud spell too. Conjuration is my speciality. But there's a time and place for everything!

Whatever the two mages were discussing, it was clearly a heated subject; Or at least, it was for Dorian. He seemed to be rapidly working himself into a frenzy.

I realized I forgot the sleet storm last round, so Tickdown was NOT actually hurt.

Round 1:

Lacsar
Alemarra
Bognus
Nic
Dorian
Tickdown
Antagonist

Lacsar's arrow flies unerringly through the sleet, slamming into the leftmost elemental, and flying through, trailing flame behind it.

As Big Al moves to guard the strange Samsaran, you all hear a gruff voice calling out that he's coming, to hold on just a little bit longer. Bognus is on his way, I hope.

Nic and Dorian activate their protective magics as Tickdown suddenly emerges from the sleet, followed quickly by a blinded flaming elemental! I'm going to argue that because he can't actually see where Tickdown is, he'll move straight foward out of the sleet instead, and then stop there, expending the spell.

A second elemental emerges moments later and makes directly for the halfling. It lashes out at Tickdown, hitting him and nearly catching his clothing on fire. 9 hp

The final elemental remains in the sleet, lashing out at where it last saw Tickdown.

Mechanics:

Elemental Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Elemental Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Lacsar pulls a handful of arrows from his quiver, taking a moment to respond to the cavalier. "I'll tell you what was said later. For the moment, I'm more interested in slaying these creatures."

The archer is relieved when the daredevil emerges unhurt from the wall of sleet. Then he notes the halfling's irate companions. He slowly backs up as his bow sings, stitching arrows into the blazing monster stalking Tick before turning on the one thrashing blindly.

If the first elemental drops, please switch the remainings shots to the other one.

Map

The mechanics of the elementals' move is a little wonky, since the target of Tickdown's spell couldn't actually see. I'm going to assume Tickdown let it move through his square so it could follow his spell. I guess that would actually let Lacsar take an AoO since he can attack unarmed.

EDIT: Just saw the map -- thanks! -- revising since the one by Tickdown is too close for me to charge.

"Alright, a clear shot, here we go Nightshade," she whispers to her steed. Then loudly, "Rampaging Elemental, I challenge you -- for Valor! Honor! And VICTORY!!" and charges in at the Elemental that just ran past Tickdown, toward Lacsar.

Nightsong has just enough space to get up to speed, and Big Al leans into her lance mightily with both hands, striking it's left shoulder and sending hunks of flaming coal exploding out of it.

"Nic, can you understand me? If you end your sleet storm, I can charge the one that blinded one over there next."

Swift: Challenge the one beside Lascar. Hopefully that's not the one he was shooting at, but it's the only one I have a clear charge at, and Al feels like charging.

Ambling down the road, singing a dreadfully off-key version of an old ballad, a dwarf, taking his time, made his way towards Blackcrag. Unusually thick across the shoulders (even for a dwarf), his haphazardly flung together gear clanged as he swaggered his way toward the town.

All of a sudden, the mountain high above practically exploded. Almost stumbling, the dwarf planted his feet as the earth shook, riding out the rumbling with the stability of all his kind. When the first shock began to subside, he took stock, and noted the fiery debris falling toward the town.

The dwarf's craggy face split into a lopsided smile as his feet began to pound the dirt. He bellowed as he tore towards the scene. "Hold on, boyos, I'm a-comin'!"

A few moments later, from around the corner, a dwarf in a battered old breasplate comes tearing into town, shield on his arm. Head down as he runs, he skids to a halt in front of one of the fire elementals, a wild grin on his face. "Finally, a chance fer some action! No worries, lads and lassies, Bluebeard's here!"

Presuming I'm looking at the map rightly (and I'm actually close enough to do this), Bognus will double move to flank with Lacsar.

Dorian nodded approvingly at the exploits of his more martially inclined allies. When he'd first started adventuring, he hadn't seen the value of such people. Surely summoned creatures were more than adequate for finishing off the enemies he disabled? It hadn't taken long for him to discover the flaws in that way of thinking. These days, he welcomed a good knight or archer with open arms. And fortunately, it looked as if he'd come across a good collection of them.

Since two out of three elementals are still blinded, Dorian will hang back and conserve his spells for this round.

HP 60/60 :: AC 16 T 13 FF 13 :: Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +8 :: Per -1 Init +13

Nic either ignores or doesn't understand Big Al's comment to him.

Dorian's visible irritation is countered by an oblivious flippant tone from Nic, only now he's once again talking vacantly to the air, head cocked to the side as he watches the fight play out.

Abyssal:
"It seems inappropriate that he blames me for everyone else's shortcomings. I assumed we would all fall back and ready a response for when they emerged…"

Then he whispers a few syllables, reaching a hand out towards the dark, cold storm he created moments before. A thin finger of the cold reaches out to make contact with Nic's outstretched hand, then lingers there.. dripping icy blackness from his readied fist. He steps toward the fight, watching the two fire creatures.

Big Al nods to Dorian, "In that case, we'll just have to concentrate on the ones out here until that one either stumbles out to us, or the storm ends. In the mean time it's not able to cause us any harm."

Round 2:

Lacsar
Alemarra
Bognus
Nic
Dorian
Tickdown
Antagonist

Lacsar's foot hits the elemental, though he takes a small burn in the process. 1 hp

Stepping back, he unloads arrows on the elemental stalking Tickdown, two of the arrows flying through it trailing streams of fiery "blood," though the other two shafts seem to burn up harmlessly as they make contact. I didn't see Precise Shot, so you had a -4 for firing into melee.

Alemarra returns the favor, charging into the fray to protect the masked archer. She suffers a blow from the closest elemental 6 hp, plus Reflex DC 16 to avoid catching on fire, but it proves to be worth it as her lance hits the other ousider dead center, dispursing it into little bursts of flame that quickly dissipate with a single blow. holy crap!

A dwarf, charging into the street, skids to a half as he sees the carnage, realizing a second and third elemental are still threatening the town and local adventurers.

Nic casts, holding onto his arcane magic, as Dorian waits for the others to mop up the two final elementals.

Tickdown stabs the nearest elemental, his blade catching the beast, and tumbles away, trying to get out of its range. It closest, though, and slams the halfling again. 9 hp Wasn't sure what Tickdown would do, since I don't really know your characters yet, so hope that attack worked.

The other elemental remains in the sleet storm, the sound of snow turning to steam reverberating through the area above the sound of still-screaming citizens of Blackcrag Cove.

My confusion, Big Al. Yes, you can charge that elemental. Lacsar, your foot didn't actually catch -- just want to make sure that's clear, so you don't need to spend an action to put a fire out.

Seeing that the only elemental left outside of the sleet storm is going to suffer the combined wrath of Big Al, Lascar, and this impressive looking dwarf who just ran in out of the blue, she decides to not to challenge this one, but turns Nightsong around and charges the short distance to the elemental getting another solid strike with her lance.

Correct. Big Al's blow will kill it, leaving just the elemental in the sleet storm.

With only the storm-blinded elemental remaining, Nic can think of only one thing to do. Like a mantis preparing to pounce, the thin man coils up toward the ground—ice still dripping from his right fist—and the black of his clothes stretches wide over each shoulder... becoming a pair of inky black wings in a blink.

With a jump, he streaks into the air, quickly climbing above the ceiling of the dark sleet storm... his black eyes scanning the edges of the storm in case the fiery creature tries to leave in another direction.

Swift to activate Wings if Darkness (fly 60)
Then fly straight up, gaining enough altitude to get an aerial view of the entire area surrounding the Sleet Storm.

Not seeing any profit in charging into a sleet storm, Big Al pulls up aside the dwarf after dispatching the second elemental. Reaching down from astride Nightsong, she extends a hand.

"Greetings! You arrived at a good time. I am Alemarra Redthistle, but folks call me 'Big Al'." The halfling gives an easy, confident smile. "Did I hear you call yourself Bognus? Keep an eye on that sleet storm over there; we have every reason to believe there's one more fire elemental still inside of it."

"Nic -- or anyone -- do we know when that storm'll end?" Then seeing Nic start to rise into the sky on black wings, "Great Desna's Swallowtails, what's going on with him? Lacsar, anything you care to explain about your ward?!?"

While this is going on, Al will back up ~25' so as to not be surprised when/if the elemental appears. She'll encourage others to do the same, knowing she can close the distance easily on Nightsong's back when the elemental returns.

Dorian did a quick bit of mental arithmetic.

"By my calculations, we have a minimum of 15 seconds before the storm disperses. Its exact duration depends on the caster's skill level."

He peered up at the (increasingly worrying) Oracle, who now soared through the sky on wings of darkness. Dorian definitely did not like the look of this man.

"Those shadowy powers of his don't look like spells. I suspect that they stem from another source...

By, the way, my name is Dorian Kendrick. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

Since the Elemental was still standing, Dorian attempted to blind it with another rain of glowing dust. Unnecessary? Perhaps. But he wanted to shield the Halfling who'd dispatched those enemies so impressively. She and the archer had more than earned his support.

Nic perches on the roof. A black gargoyle watching the elemental with black eyes.

Round 8:

Lacsar
Alemarra
Bognus
Nic
Dorian
Tickdown
Antagonist

With Lacsar and Tickdown still helping extinguish fires, Alemarra and Bognus close in on the elemental. Alemarra's lance misses, her aim thrown slightly by the remaining slush and the elemental's blow as she closes 9 hp, but Bognus is able to take advantage of the opening she creates, his axe slashing through the creature.

Moments later, a spray of golden dust again coats the elemental, but this time it seems to avoid the worst of it, its sight seemingly unhampered as the furious creature slams the dwarf twice, the blows nearly catching him on fire. 3 hp and 9 hp

Mechanics:

Bognus: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31

AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Slam: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Slam: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Big Al Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Bognus Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Bognus Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Mott, are you sure it gets an AoO on me? My lance has a 10' reach.
