Is retraining allowed in this campaign? I put some retrained HP on Roedar's profile, so I need to take them off (and use the funds elsewhere) if it is not.

I'll take a break on the questions after this...

Woah. 22 new posts. I guess I've got some reading to do! (my turn to have work blow up again).

Sorry I kind of been prepping for a bit (as I realized the game's pace wasn't as advertised) and kinda went on a tear yesterday.

I've plotted out the beats of all three scenes and what scenarios they unlock. I know it might not seem it but I have about 4 meta plots planned for this game. It eventually evolves from reactionary guard stuff to super spy type stuff.

I see threads being woven, and I'm content to follow as they weave in ... many different directions as needed.

The up and down nature of the work ... contrasts to the old work, which was (as I've likened to others), like trying to guide a drunken sailor, as he lurches from one crisis to another, with one hand tied.

I work in enterprise tech support so that sounds familiar

@GM_Solspiral, can we select spells specifically for this mission? Or do we need to go with our default list? I pray for my spells in the morning, but I could always leave one or more slots empty and adjust according to the duties we are assigned by the department.

About my GM style:

-Not all solutions are combat solutions, there are usually compromises or alternate options.
-Not everything is statted to be taken down at your level, you can pile up on it with NPC allies or address some threats later.
-Some threats will level with you.
-Some leads are red herrings.
-I'm usually up to something.
-Above all things I favor a good story.

There's an onion of geeky references and tropes in the plot that are there to be uncovered. Smart Monkey Urban Barbarian/Mutegentic Warrior is actually sort of a riff on Mojo Jojo.

@GM_Solspiral -- I was looking at some feats, in particular Fast Learner. Is this feat retroactive? I could not find anything definitive, so I want to get your take.

yep it retroacts

big post got eaten on Friday and weekend was bit on the busy side.

So I'm reworking it now because I'm fearful of a TPK.

I statted the Murderbait thing under the assumption y'all would investigate the murder scenes or go in and hear out the lesser evil in Fagen so that when a fight broke out between him and his his former fey ally the CR of the challenge would be adjusted by Fagen balancing things to your side. I'm pretty sure that plan is going to go t%~+ up so I've adjusted it a bit as you guys can prolly take down Fagen (CR5ish) as long as you keep the rest of the gang from joining in but not the Fey (CR7) without the CR5.

I play hardball as a GM but that's just too heavy. Apologies, though it;s nice to be able to adjust between posts. So sorry about the delay.

Sorry Roedar is missing the Murderbait action. Sounds fun.

Team Waterfront:

Is it a formality that we escape? Or do we want to play it out? Ideally, Roedar would like to get more from Elbin about the bard after we're out of danger. Also, if we can arrest one or more of the new gang members, Roedar would like to bring him/them in for questioning. Maybe "Monkey Sets Up Snake" or some variant will work there, too!

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I think you guys settled on forcing them through the hole after you as fair escape only works if everyone is trying to get away, Sven seems intent on making some arrests and plugging up the hole so we'll have to play that out

Well... we were followed on the way in, so I'm sure that they knew you were there before hand, but, the Dice Gods are a fickle lot.

Allow me to tell you a tale,

of pain and woe...:

I was running a game, about a decade back, for a trio of lucky young adventurers, who had managed to finagle a bit more cash than normal through some clever role play, and some dumb luck. Being somewhat squishy (a homebrew Thieves guild game, with a Sorcerer, a Rogue, and a Bard as the entirety of the party), they decide the best offense, is a good defense, and pump their AC as much as they could.

I suddenly start having some issues hitting the party with normal encounters, so I dive into my MM, and find a creature that's CR appropriate that will hit on a 5. A 5's easy, right?

I drop my fancy dancy Shadow Mastiff on the party in the next game.

Round one! I roll a 4. The party? Headshot, Crit! Sneak Attack!.
Round two! I roll a 3. The party? Another Crit, and another Sneak Attack.
Round 3, my poor puppy is in dire straights, and bites one last time! a 4. And they quickly finish off the stray, and promptly name it "Fluffy."

Alas, my tale does not end there.

The next time we gathered to Dungeons and Tangents, but a few moments in game later, they continued exploring ... a sewer, I believe, and were attacked by a small group of Drow Slavers!

The party Sorcerer, managed to get himself a wee bit separated, and was looking down a T joined cross corridor.

What did he spy some distance down the tunnel, but a Wicked Drider waving 4 blades of fire!
Being some distance away, he unleashed his newest trick, a Lightning Bolt!
The drider came closer and attacked! Not once, but 4 times!
The Dice: 1, 1, 1, 1. As is my habit, I rolled to confirm a critical failure. 2, 3, 5, 4.

Little did the Sorcerer know, but not only were those Flame Blades, that only needed to hit with a touch attack, but I had allowed something truly cruel. Keen Edge on all 4 blades.

I ruled, that the Drider charged up, and cut off all 4 of his arms.

The sorcerer smiled, took a 5' step back, and unleashed another Lightning Bolt to put the poor twisted spiderkin (and me), out of it's misery.

Needless to say, I have a ... poor relationship with the Dice Gods. I'm told I tell a good story, but to NEVER touch the player's dice.

Oh, that was for Frank BTW Alan, he and I work in the same office, and he went and mentioned my somewhat legendary bad luck with dice rolls screwing the pooch on the way to get AM coffee this morning.

The tale is appreciated however.

work does stuff like that, unfortunately. The game will happen as it happens (advantage of pbp as I see it, sometimes things can take a little longer)

my bent half copper, is for Team Murderbait, to swing back (as a group) to the Watch Barracks before moving on to the Tea Shop, possibly in the aforementioned Bait formation. This gives us the opportunity to make a report, and/or possibly juggle the teams, so that should disaster strike, someone knows where to find look for the corpses in the smoking crater. And well, Fagan's file can use a few updates.

My last will and testament is simple, and on file with the Church of Abadar. They get everything, to benefit their Orphan and Paladin programs. Hasn't changed since I was 10.

Male Half-Orc Gunslinger (scatter gunner) 3rd / Fighter (skirmisher) 1st

Spiegel's last will and testament is on file with the firm, all of his gear besides his clothing and his beloved blunderbuss is to be sold and the profits used to put up a monument to his platoon who all died (save him) during a vicious border war with Pitax. His body is to be burned on a funeral pyre along with his blunderbuss.

Okay so I was really hoping to see you guys take the invitation to roleplay getting back to base form your respective missions and discussing things a bit.

The game doesn't work if you are all playing off of the GM.

Was this partly a problem of not being sure on how we'd all sync up?
And Team Oz had the opportunity of another interrogation (I should probably have pushed that forward. sorry)
