Barnabus
Back near the body....
"An ill omen this." Barnabus raises an eyebrow....
@Jirani
"I ken not help but be suspioned towards Dyfrig, mayhap he was afflicted an cursed, an knows it not....."
Barnabus thinks deeply, that his summons before could be viewed with equal suspicion, he had just warned of monsters in their midst and disease infested bites....
Noriel Dregon
Noriel approaches the body next to Barnabus and jirani. She looks down at the remains as she tilt's her head.
"What ever did this has not the morals of life. It appears that a very large bear or wolf would be capable of such destruction."
She thinks for a second as she looks up and than off into the woods as she speaks.
"Regardless of the creature we should not let our guard down, with the amount of blood and torn flesh this creature seems to be a very powerful beast. It brings back memories of the Cerberus legends."
Noriel actually shivers a bit at the thought of such a nightmare. Her hands tighten and the three floating pellets spin faster around her wrist. Her eyes sharp and looking to the woods as before to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

Do you think the three of them will be able to handle things without us there, Rhasa?
The magician's expression only highlighted the concern that could clearly be heard in his voice.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
The elf is grim as she answers, but she nods.
"I do. I really believe the primary threat will come with the darkness, but the three of them are capable. And as unusual as Barnabus' choices may be out of crisis, he has experience even if the other two do not."
"I do not want to leave them alone much longer, anyway. We need to report our suspicions and find a respectful means of transporting the poor girl's remains - probably to the fort, don't you think - so she can get a proper burial."
"What are we going to do to find the beast that did this to her? If I am correct, it's one of our settlers affected by a disease."

We'll have to stake out the area at night. Some are better suited to this than others, but if we're going to do this, then we should let Barnabus, Jirani, and Noriel continue to work together while you and I serve as overwatch.

Jirani nods after Barnabus but considers Noriel's words as they wait and watch, The morals or life. You speak true to something that all manner of being has struggled with since the start; my Lady's call home. It is hard to know why she takes what she does when she does. It is hard to know how active a hand she plays in things with Aroden passed it is murkier still. What deaths are the moral ones, of her choosing, and which ones are a perversion of her will but judged fairly in Her presence regardless. I content myself with such reflection while I wait to serve and pray that for beast I strike down I am bringing things back in balance as she wishes rather than seeing the scales distorted even more.
Jirani smiles to no one in particular, My order is fantastic at parties, I assure you.

"We need more eyes. We will have to see what Gorguk's thoughts are. His night vision and his insight into the nature of those around him granted by his god will both be valuable."
You're right, of course. I'm just concerned about the potential fatalities that could occur, let alone the casualties.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
To avoid confusion, this conversation is private between Lothar and Rhasadilara as they walk to the stockade to visit with Gorguk and Calindar.
"If my theory is correct, we need to find them before the moonrise. We know nothing about them that would help us find them, but perhaps we can get a friend or family member to help us. If we let the word out that we are concerned about townsfolk that were outside the town proper last night because they may have come in contact with a poisonous plant, someone may volunteer the killer out of concern for them. What do you think?"
Noriel Dregon
"we need to head back to town, we can use a tent or cloak to carry her back. We wait to long and the remains will be damaged."
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
Rhasadilara has a goal of having Gorguk help by using his ability to detect evil among the townspeople. A second goal is to have Calindar provide services to lay the poor girl to rest or advise us on how we need to proceed with her remains. Assuming he doesn't have a gentle repose spell prepared.

Lothar nodded his approval. It is sound, but not without some risk. We should go and see our old friends as quickly as possible.

Great minds think alike, I see. ;)

Seeing Gorguk sparring with the militia brought to mind their past sessions together. He almost felt a sensation akin to pride at the result of those efforts as he watched his fellow Warden of the Green defend himself against those unfortunate enough to cross steel with him.
Almost.
A sidelong glance at his partner reminded him that time was of the essence.
Besides, from the look of things, it appeared the militiamen needed a moment to recover from the absolute drubbing they were receiving.
A moment of your time, Lord Gorguk.
After a few pleasantries, Lothar will take the time to explain the situation and what they need from both him and Calinder.

"And... REST!!!" shouts Gorguk, dumping one militiaman unceremoniously on his butt and turning to walk over towards you.
"Heard you were back, Lothar my lad. How have you been getting on?"
Your friend looks hot and sweaty, but pleased to see you.
Lothar Narda
With you using your god-given insight and abilities, it is our hope that we can find the beast responsible for this heinous act as quickly as possible.
Lothar paused for a moment. We also need to see Calinder about burial arrangements for the lass as well, so we're sort of pressed for time, Lord Gorguk. What say you then? Will you assist us with this endeavor?
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
Rhasadilara shakes her head to indicate the negative. "Not really. The tracks of the attacker went into a copse of trees where they appeared to change to those of an unusually large humanoid. We hardly know the settlers, so hopefully you have insight to guide our search in addition to the sight provided by Old Deadeye."

"A fellow with large feet, hey? The biggest fellow I know - apart from myself - is a wandering Kellid tribesman named Kundal who recently arrived in town. I suppose you could ask him if he's a werewolf, but from all accounts he is a quiet fellow, keeps himself to himself," said Gorguk.
Megan Robertson
|
Gorguk nodded.
"Good idea, Rahasdilara. He certainly looked like a fellow who could handle himself in a fight... and at present he's hiring out as unskilled labour to people building their homsteads, so he might welcome the offer. That is, if he's not the werewolf. I don't think we really want one of them in the ranks!"
Noriel Dregon
Noriel stands up from a long time relaxing, after many hours have passed, fluffing her hair as she tosses it back, still holding her umbrella; although the umbrella was gently resting upon her shoulder, propped up by her hand and body, often spinning the umbrella out of pure boredom.
“OOOOoooooh”
A yawn followed her long stretch as she looked to Barnabus to speak after.
”I don’t have much in detective skills as I would like; however, with the long wait of the party back at town the remains will eventually draw unwanted animals, or become damaged and infested with bugs the longer it sits here on the ground.”
She moved over to the remains and took a quick glance over them, her skills in how and why were not perfect but she knew that the remains had to be moved before further attention was drawn.
”Barnabus, I am going to construct a basic stretcher to load the remains on, I can move the body with little to no damage, theoretically. Load it on the stretcher and carry it back to town, and you don’t have to lift a finger, though I will have to move at least one finger or two.”
Noriel looks around the area and finds two fairly decent sticks about 8 ft in length. She positions them on the ground about 2 feet apart, and starts running rope around the sticks fashioning a basic web structure, much like a net to hold body of the little girl.
Eng: 20 + 9 = 29 ”Takes 20”
Noriel didn’t want the body falling out for any reason on the way back to town and after all there was not any major time restraints. She seemed to be showing a little compassion for the girls remains as she used her kinetic finesse to very carefully load the remains in one piece on to the stretcher. Once they were positioned on the stretcher carefully, she used her kinetic ability to lift the two sticks up on each side and move the body towards town.
”I believe the church, or priest tent would be best place to make our way, dark will be upon us soon, and I don’t think I want to be out here when the bears and wolves come hunting for food.”
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
For what it's worth, I believe the natural choice to find the resident holy man that Barnabus knows would be the fort, which is where the rest of the party is, by chance.
Rhasadilara nods at Gorguk's grasp of her idea. "That is exactly what I'm thinking. Him being a wanderer and us looking for someone that periodically and violently loses control seems too coincidental to ignore."
Jirani Shores
Jirani, silent but watchful nods at Noriel's assessment, I think you are right. The time has been much and moving the body won't matter for her rites. Whatever clues remain will hopefully live past our journey back.

priest or nearest church in camp

Nobody has established a church or other place of worship yet... shocking, isn't it? If anyone of a religious persuasion has arrived yet, you haven't met them - you'll have to ask around. Dyfrig will have probably fed them even if the folk at the Fort don't know about them yet.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
Well, August 1st IRL, Gorguk and Rhasa were talking. I believe we were waiting for his reply or on hold waiting for the rest of the team.
Would you like us to contact you when it seems like you have forgotten the game - or lost the dot for it? We seem to have long periods of DM quiescence in this game. I know some of it is life business keeping your attention away, but I have also seen posts in your other games when we are on pause. Just want to know how we can make this work, return to the great game we used to have.

I'm here...
So, Noriel, Barnabus and the corpse are going to the Fort. OK, you can get there - but do attract some curious looks from passers-by. Have you covered the corpse?
... I am trying to look in daily (didn't manage yesterday but was at church then doing Sabbath-type things in the afternoon!), if there's a post I respond.
Jirani Shores
Noriel, Barnabus and I (ME ME ME TOO, LOL) will bring the corpse. Jirarni will ensure it is covered though it is still probably pretty evident its a body under a blanket.
