I recognize the difference between IC and OOC but I still wanted to make sure people were cool with what's going on. I got burned once for playing to character too much. Owl is not an offensive character. And the fight looked to be going south until Tish popped her spell. By then he was out of the loop. I plan to either catch the shifty one in a lie about saving the children, play for time until back-up arrives, or make a grab for the shifty guy and drive him to you guys. Fair?

From a player perspective I wouldn't say I was "cool" with a lot of things about this encounter. However, it is all interesting, and challenging, and it is already done, so all we can do is play it out and see what happens.

OOC I think it's hilarious. All the miscommunication really highlights how dysfunctional this group is on multiple levels. But I think this will be good catalyst for them to gather 'round the table afterwards and say "Okay, just because we don't like each other doesn't mean we can't work together. So let's talk strategy."

I always have at least one character idea waiting in the wings for just such an occasion. In this instance, it would be a stage magician who works for the Umbra Carnival and uses spells like animate rope, vacuous vessel, and summon minor monster as part of her act.
If we did meet our untimely ends here, how fun would it be to play a group of carnies? We could have a strong(wo)man, an animal tamer, a torch juggler, a knife thrower, a contortionist/escape artist.
Same. I've got tons of ideas, and if Lía goes down, there's other ideas I've got. Though, if we go down here, would you all like to collaborate on a cohesive group for the next go-round? *grin*

Sounds like Black Butler: Circus, Tish. The carnies all ended up dead in that one, so let's try to get thru this one intact, k? :)

I'll be the strongwoman. I have a character on the shelf named Zokama who would be perfect for that... just have to restat her to be stronger. :)
... Do some of you actually *want* your current characters to croak? Like you are burned out on them--? Or is it just appetite for another character or a more unified party?

For me, it's just my way of saying that if Tish happens to die (or needs to go), then it's no hard feelings because I have other concepts that would be just as fun to play.
And also that if anyone wanted to run a game featuring a circus-themed, crime-solving party, I'm onboard. *hint* *wink* *nudge*
I bet you all are just as eager to give back up characters a try. Apologies for the lateness of updates. I really do try and at least get once a week, but it frustrates me when school and work prevent me from doing more.

I may throw my hat in the ring but that requirement to have an ability at 6 is not something I am comfortable with. I try and balance most characters. Breadth of experience rather than extreme focus. And the rolls I had gives me a 6 and 7. That will be hard for me to play with.

Yeah, my rolls were pretty good. That makes a big difference in a game like this. One huge weakness is flavor, but several... that's just not fun, because you don't feel like you are good at anything.

On vacation until January. Will still be checking and posting daily... just won't be checking quite as often. Just FYI, in case something happens and I don't respond immediately.

To all my games, I am going to be leaving tomorrow for a humanitarian trip to help those in need. I will only have access to my smartphone at the time, so I will not be able to post during this time. I estimate my return to the boards in the first week of January.
If I'm a player and you find this absence unfavorable, I understand if you remove me from the game.
If I'm the GM, and you'd rather leave the game if it stalls for this long, I understand your withdrawal.
In either case, message me and we'll get things sorted out.
But I do wish everyone Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

DM Default has kindly allowed me to fix a few goofups I made during character creation and the last level up. One was taking the Seeker trait, not realizing that Mesmerists already get Perception as a class skill. And the second was forgetting (for the umpteenth time) that humans get an extra skill point every level.
I'm sorry to say, but I'm dropping out after the adventure wraps up. I'd rather not take the time to level a character that I'm not going to be playing soon.
I'm finding it difficult to invest myself into the game due to the slow pace. I've found it difficult to play Kali in a way that feels like she's a person because of how slowly things progress. If I'm brutally frank, I'm no longer enjoying the game. I'm sorry to do this, but I'd rather get it over with than drag it out.
Can I get a general gauge of everyone's enjoyment of the game currently? If no one's having that great of a time, I can close this one up rather than drag it out.

I feel like it is a little slow, but definitely not the slowest I am in, and I enjoy it when we do play. I would prefer continuing, but understand if the choice is to fold it up.

I concur with Median. Definitely wouldn’t be upset if things picked up, but otherwise enjoying it.
Another factor to consider, I've been contacted by an old player who disappeared on us a while back. Jix Rissi. The player has expressed interest in returning to the game and has apologized for their disappearance due to RL issues.
I'd be willing to give them another shot should the game continue. Thoughts? If you wish to remain private, you may message them to me rather than posting them here.

I wouldn't mind...RL stuff happens. I'm curious to see how the more longer-lived characters feel.
OOC, it's PbP. These are known for being slow and petering out.
IC, Everyone is still getting used to everyone. Median and Irian are a good personality counter for Owl and Tish, so Lía is less inclined to go her own way after concluding her obligations, so plot-wise, she's likely to stay.
