Lluvia smirks friendly yet a little confused to Sapphire.

"You're most welcome to the pack, she-wolf. And I can assure you, with an alpha predator like 'liss here it's quite a joy to hunt."

She looks after the two succubi who were with Vancaskerkin and wonders whether anyone misunderstood for who the challenge she previously uttered was.

What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

Aine, Relverest, and Lluvia:
Looking around the gambling hall, you see a few things that are quite suspicious. Over by the lavatories, you see a hand, the edge of a scroll, and the edge of human man's head sticking out of a lavatory door that's barely open.

On the other side of the floor, a group of four or five - a human woman surrounded by a group of buff toughs, all tense their bodies (as if in preparation of something) and close their eyes tightly.

Everybody Else:

I don't understand the second part of the description:

GM:
Does it look the woman was controlling/commanding the thugs or like she was threatened by them? What does she look like? The thugs are of the same make as those by guarding the chest? Did we have the impression that Vancerskerkin wanted to direct our attention at this scene? Does the man with the scroll have a direct view on the group of thugs or is he rather about to cast a spell on something else?

"Watch out 'liss" she says with a glance to a group of thugs.
Then she glances right and makes a choice, hasting to the man with the scroll in the door and tries to rip it out of his hand without the slightest hesitation.

"Good evening, gentleman. Pray tell, who mightst thee be?"

I am not sure what kind of attack this is, I'll just roll on an unarmed strike, using weapon finesse.

I assume we have our weapons? I don't recall if that was answered, but having us unarmed would be difficult.

and spoilered combat? With speaking unspoilered?

"Caster by the privy, and five cutthroats on yonder side with their eyes screwed shut! CLOSE YOUR EYES!" shouts Relverest, his own green eyes sparkling.
Rel's hand twitches for his glaive, but he is wary of drawing it in a crowd, and clenches his battle glove instead, sealing his eyes against a potential blast.

Speaking, eyes closing are free actions--gonna see what will happen. Or not see, as the case may be.

What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

No, not spoilered combat. The spoilers were for what each group of PCs, respectively, saw. As for Lluvia's questions, it doesn't look like the men are threatening the woman you see, and no, it doesn't look like Vancasterkin is directing you to see it on purpose. You're not sure what the caster is going to cast on quite at the moment.

"So... it seems like it might be a good idea to get your head down." Shayliss, generally picking up that some nasty business of some sort of on the verge of happening, attempts to grab Vancasterkin by the wrist (the good wrist), and haul him along while taking temporary refuge from whatever spell is being cast behind the large chest of coins with its flanking guards. She also makes a point of closing her eyes for the time being, as advised.

Once generally behind cover, she clears her throat and projects her voice a bit more. "It seems we might have a bit of a security matter to deal with here. Those not really equipped to deal with these sorts of things should probably try and give a wide birth to those drawing weapons and all that. Hopefully matters will resolve themselves quickly and with a minimum of violence and we can all get back to enjoying ourselves!"

Inspire Courage is go. +1 to hit and damage.

As Aine turns, she notices the man holding the scroll first, then the circle. As it seems that Lluvia has that one covered, Aine considers drawing her shortbow before hearing Relverest's shout. This will probably be not good. Placing a hand on the hilt of her battleaxe instead, she swung an arm over her eyes, bracing herself for what was coming next.

Unfortunately, Lluvia isn't able to get to the man in time to snatch the scroll out of his hand - he uses it as she runs towards him, and she closes her eyes as she goes, as do Aine, Shayliss, Sapphire, and Bromsen. Relverest's reflexes aren't quite good enough to react in time, however, and when the man in the privy casts his spell, a torch in the upper corner of the room sputters and then flashes in a bright light. The room goes dark for Relverest (and slightly darker for everyone else, because one of the torches is out). More importantly, however, Relverest, as well as the majority of the people within the establishment, are blinded.

Lluvia Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Lluvia does manage to reach the wizard just after he casts his spell, and she opens her eyes just in time to punch him right in the throat. He chokes for a moment, unable to answer while his compatriots across the room stand and draw saps. The woman stands last and shouts, "Alright folks, get down and shut up and we won't have to hurt ya'...much."

One man protests, even though he's blinded, and he's swiftly struck into unconsciousness by one of the thugs.

Coincidentally, Saul Vancasterkin has left the game floor just moments before the fight broke out, to go back to the vault and check on the 'Goblin's finances.

'A robbery?' is the first thing Lluvia wonders as the woman starts to speak. At the added 'much' her hand already reaches for her rapier and memories of the assault on the embassy come up in her mind. 'I won't be the victim, ever again.' Fury boils in her. But there is also Shayliss and all the other people around. Maybe it's better not to escalate by using a weapon... but a surrender is out of the question as well - not because of the money, she can't care less about it, she just won't submit to thugs.

Without a word she she tries to throw the wizard to the floor back into the lavatories and block the door if she can.

Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Move Action: Block the door with anything at hand.
The trip attempt provokes an attack of opportunity, if the wizard is armed.

Desna smiles upon me, I suppose. Hope didn't spoil the game of any of you - but Lluvia prefers to hear them out with the arguments on her side.

Shayliss opens her eyes, glancing around, and is particularly alarmed to see the sword carrying guards (or are they just hired models?) she hid behind have not sprung into action, and may even have been temporarily blinded. "So apparently there's a group of ruffians attempting a robbery over by where that nasty woman is shouting, but seeing as none of them seem to be lethally armed there's still no reason to panic..."

If they're all still clumped up together, and I can get within range to cast it...

"... but I would try and stay clear of them anyway, as the floorboards near there are looking a bit slick!" Casting Grease under as many thugs as are bunched up for it.

If they're already fanning out around the room though, instead I'll just stay by the big chest and ready an action to trip any of them who get too close:

Brom opens his eyes as he rises from his crouch. He looks around to understand the situation, actively looking for anything that might throw them off guard. He lays his eyes on the thugs because of the women's voice.
"Aine, Red Haired Dancing Lady, Crazy Bartender Lady, Blondie, and Lluvia. What is your status? What did that scroll do? Should anyone check where Saul went? These thugs definitely do not have cut throats." "Wait, what is wrong with Blondie? He is Blind!

"I need someone to take Blondie's right side. Aine! Are you willing? Crazy Lady! What other talents do you have? Can you get behind your friend, Blondie, please?"

Brom quickly moves to Blondie's left side, facing the enemies. Brom is adjacent to him. "Hey! This is Brom! I am on your left side. These men are carrying saps and do not look friendly. I am a little bit nervous. Oh! No! Deep breath in, deep breath out."

Anticipating a fight incoming, Aine draws her battleaxe (the first lethal weapon drawn in the battle so far) and prepares herself to strike any that come near her.

Continuing her assault against the wizard in front of her, Lluvia sweeps her foot under his feet while pushing his chest with a hand, throwing the man to the ground in the lavatories.

Shayliss casts a spell underneath the grouping of thugs, trying to get them to fall over and slip. Two of them manage to keep their feet, but the third that's caught in the spell's area slips and falls to the ground.

Offended by Bromsen's assessment of her, Sapphire calls upon strange powers to slow his reflexes while she tries to pull Relverest atop the stage to get away from the crowd.

Despite his debilitation, Bromsen tries to follow Relverest and guard him against danger.

At the young woman's insistence, the thugs move forward to attack the only people in between them and the big chest of silver - the PCs. Unfortunately for them, several of them are still standing on a grease slick. All of them navigate the grease slick effectively except for one, who finds himself unable to move, and the other, who is already flat on his back from his first encounter with the slick. That one simply stands up.

The other three, however, run at the PCs, encountering Aine first. Ready for them, she swings her axe, slicing into one as he tries to pass her. The thief shrieks and instead of attacking, he simply turns tail and runs away. The other two thugs, however, Thug 2 and Thug 3 attack her with their saps. Unnerved by the woman's sudden savagery, however, they both stop just a bit short of being able to hit her.

The woman leading the thugs is far from amused, and she barks, "What's wrong with you? Just get those idiots out of the way and grab the chest before Vancasterkin comes back!", before she goes to cast a spell, waving her hands and speaking simple arcane words.

She casts sleep. Relverest, Sapphire, Bromsen, and Shayliss, please make DC 13 Will saves or fall asleep for 1 minute. Relverest may roll twice due to his luck.

The wizard on the ground scrabbles backwards from Lluvia, and she's unable to stop him, given that she's unarmed. Looking fearfully at her, he still manages to wave a hand and cast a simple arcane spell, and behind her, there is a creak of iron as Old Scratch's cage is opened.

He's cast open/close, opening Old Scratch's cage.

Frustrated by the thugs engaged in combat with her, Aine strikes out against one, but the shoddy workmanship of this building works against her. A stray board beneath her catches her foot as she tries to step forward and attack, causing her to trip before she can strike.

Lluvia is much more successful in dispatching the wizard in front of her, stepping forward and stabbing the man with her rapier. He gasps and then collapses, bleeding out all over the floor.

Shayliss bends over and slaps Sapphire awake, just in time for the witch to come to her senses, stand up, and cast a sonic spell at the thug's remaining leader.

Bromsen, meanwhile, sleeps while Relverest is too slow to react fast enough to awaken him.

The thugs fighting Aine surround her, striking at her from positions of flanking. One of them fails to even strike anywhere near her body, but the other scores a solid hit that's thankfully blocked by her armor.
The other thugs around Thuvalia approach the stage which Sapphire is coincidentally atop. They manage to avoid slipping on the grease that Shayliss has put down, but only one of them manages to get to Sapphire on time. She dodges by his blow, though.
Thuvalia, meanwhile, tries to pause Relverest with a daze spell, but he and his strong will resist it.

Directly after resisting the spell, he nudges Bromsen awake. Kicking the monk, the big and awkward man awakens with a snort.

Stepping out from around a corner is a non-blinded half-orc carrying a throwing axe. He walks towards the thugs and looses the axe at the woman-leader, but somehow the axe fails to even go straight and ends up sticking right into the ceiling of the Goblin. Shayliss winces a little as things start getting more violent, not to mention loud, but keeps her wits about her enough to knock the nearby thug off balance.
Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Improved trip (so no AOO) against the thug who attacked Sapphire, who'd have to be adjacent to me, as I woke her up just now, and if my mental map is right, we're all pretty much right next to the big ol' chest of gold still?

"If I were you I'd go crawling back to the door, because there's some pretty dangerous people in here from the look of it and I'm sure any minute now they're going to come rushing over to the stage here to keep you away from that big chest of cash!" She emphasizes a few choice words to hopefully get the attention of those who aren't immediately occupied.

Aine grunts with rage and swings around towards thug 2, the one that hit but dealt no damage. Rage boils inside of her, making for one barbarian no thug should mess with. Grabbing the axe with her other hand, she lets loose.

Aine is both raging and two-handed wielding her battleaxe.

Female Human Bard 2 | HP 9/9 Perform 10/10 Spells 3 | AC 12 FF 10 touch 12 | Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +2 | Init+2, Per +4

+1 more damage from Inspire Courage, not that it matters with this little HP on them.

Shayliss blinks in surprise at Aine's handling of the latest thug, and makes a mental note not to ever get on her bad side.

Lluvia feels numb as she draws her rapier out of the wound of the wizard and blood spills all over the place. As she turns her head she sees Aine being surrounded, though. With a glance to Old Scratch's cage she charges one of the thugs engaging her and tries to ram her rapier straight into his back.

Gah! I forgot inspire courage again. I don't know whether what I write is possible - I'd have to see the exact layout; just writing what I think might work. If there is any enemy I can charge and whom I'd be flanking, I will.

Old Scratch has left his cage - and is actually nowhere to be seen! He must have vanished!

Relverest can't see him! or anything else.

The cleric takes a hand off his glaive to make the signs and utter the words of the Goddess of Love.

"A boot for Sneaky and now a boost for all of us," he says.

Moment of Greatness. Double your morale bonuses for one roll; can be used within 1 minute. That includes the +1 Inspire Courage, or Aine's +2 on Will saves...or, uh, the STR/CON bonuses (I think, seems kinda broken, GM's call)

He then resumes his blind two handed grip stance.

"Huh" Bromsen quickly gets up, standing tall. He looks around while the fighting continues. He tries to avert his eyes as Lluvia and Aine brutally strike their foes. He fails.... "Yuck!" As he looks up his eyes open wide in shock.

"Who opened the cage? Oh no, where did the creature run off to?"

He draws his bow looking and listening for the creature that escaped from the cage. Also looking for any sign of where it has been.

I just realized that actively looking for something is a move action. So, Brom is not going to draw his bow.

Brim starts moving his hand to grab his bow, but stops for further focus on finding the creature.

"They should realize there there is a line as everyone in here was after this chest and should wait their turn!" Sapphire replies to Shay as she raises her hand towards the second thug approaching them.

Sapphire casts Daze at thug approaching the chest; DC 14 will save

She then draws her quarterstaff from her back, waiting for the tripped thug at her feet to make a move. "Lying down on the job? Your boss should feel so proud of your effort."

Swinging her axe brutally and roaring with rage, Aine slices into one of the thugs attacking her, cutting through leather armor, flesh, and bone alike, and sending the instantly-dead man to the ground at her feet.

Seeing her in danger, Lluvia rushes across the floor with her rapier, stabbing into the man on her other side, poking him somewhere vulnerable in his belly and sending him, dead, to the ground as well.

Shayliss and Sapphire work together to take one of the thugs off of his feet and keep him from getting up immediately, and Bromsen looks around for Old Scratch. The monk swears that he can hear some eponymous scratching and grumbling coming from the rafters, but if he looks there is nothing up there, as far as he can tell.

Seeing the men under her command crumple and die, or be knocked over, Thuvalia directs the remaining awake thug to join her in an escape, and the pair begin to run away. A frustrated roar escapes from the half-orc bouncer and he chases after them as they run, and he nails one of the thugs with a thrown axe. The man drops to his knees, burbling in pain and exhaustion.

The crumbling of the thieves' resolve signals the end of the battle, but the battle at all signals the end of the gambling event. As the thugs run out, they are followed by fast-walking patrons of the Gold Goblin, who try to very quickly exchange what remains of their chips for their gold back.

"There really isn't any reason for everyone to go running off!" shouts Shayliss as people start filing out. "I'd imagine a more observant doorman will be put in place rather shortly to avoid this sort of thing in the future!"

She glances around a bit, and down at the thug she just tripped. "And I suppose someone should really tie this one up, or turn him over to the authorities, or something, shouldn't they?"

"Oh, they'll be dealt with!" a cheerful, older voice announces from across the room. Bojask, the half-orc bodyguard, begins to haul the thug he's staggered over towards the stage while the crowds empty out of the Gold Goblin. Saul Vancasterkin can be seen walking out of his vault-room, a receipt in hand that explains the status of his vault. "Thank you for taking care of them, by the way. You're...surprisingly capable."

Female Human Bard 2 | HP 9/9 Perform 10/10 Spells 3 | AC 12 FF 10 touch 12 | Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +2 | Init+2, Per +4

Shayliss steps away to give Bojask some room. "So... sorry your whole big event here petered out, and it looks like someone let your mascot loose too. I'm sure the local sheriff will catch the ones who ran off though. I mean, plenty of people got a good look at them. So, just give it a bit and you can try this whole thing again, right?"

She generally tries to straighten up the mess left by a half-blind crowd fleeing the building as best as can be managed.
