Will a handful of Ne'er-do-wells repent for their past misdeeds? Map

1 to 50 of 61 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Well, well, well. It looks like your wicked ways have finally caught up to you. You doomed to die and spend an eternity suffering in whatever hellhole your soul is destined for.

Well, that is unless you want to redeem yourselves. Consider this your last chance. If you waste it, there will be no mercy.

Okay there seems to be a lot of desire to have an evil game, so...ta-da!

I'm going to be making this up as I go along, but the basics are this. You have been caught by the Forces of Good!™ and have been given one last chance at redemption before being put to the sword. This is a dungeon crawl, but you'll be able to buy equipment and food at a few points in dungeon. Other than that all you need to know is how to make your character.

Character Creation Rules:
1st-level
No Gunslinger.
20-point buy
2 traits
Average gold
All races from ARG are open. If you don't have it, any monster that has _______ as a character is open. If your not sure, check the PRD or the d20pfsrd site.
Evil only, CE only if you explain how you imagine it works and I agree that it's fine.
What is your greatest crime? No mass murder sprees or grand heists please.
NO Third party material UNLESS it is open content (ie on d20pfsrd or some other resource site.)
I'll give you guys until friday to make your characters before I make a decision. Three guys already expressed interest in this, so better bring your best.

Also, although this is a dungeon crawl, not every encounter will be a combat encounter. Please keep this in mind because a party that is trigger happy may not be so for long.

Dotting for interest

When you say "any race from ARG" you mean it "featured races", "uncommon races" or "all of the above"? It can become pretty crazy... you know... ;D

Oh I know. IF it's in the ARG it's free game.

Oh, almost forgot. No Third party stuff, unless it's out on the web, I have a good bit of the Paizo stuff, so no problems there.

Dotting for interest.

Any chance you might want to run the Way of the Wicked campaign?

I would, but I've got almost no spare cash at the moment, and this is already going to tax my free time. On the upside, you guys are going to be completely surprised when you run through it. >:D

And how's it going Tirion?

i'll submit Zodt for your initial judgement (mostly his class/race combo). if approved i will alter stats to conform to 20pt buy, etc.

All things considered I think I'll play a NE Dhampir Rogue, if it's a dungeon crawl mostly, having someone able to detect and disarm traps can come in handy... Besides I never played a rogue.

Building up a human sorcerer (infernal bloodline, mostly enchantment and conjurations) right now. Once I flesh out the background I'll load up the character sheet for pre-approval.

The Exchange

I've always wanted to play an antipaladin/sorcerer/haunted oracle --sort of a demon-obsessed would-be good guy corrupted and controlled by the hostile spirits.

If this is acceptable, I'll flesh it out more. Would probably play it CE (or even CN, if allowed, to represent the dual nature).

@ D-kal: What do you mean by CE? (What's your interpretation of that alignment.)

The Exchange

Well I hope I don't sound idiotic, but I figured CE for tending towards wanton destruction and generally universally hostile. However, this would be suppressed by the possessed individual as needed to maintain party coherency. Just don't expect the possessing spirits to respect rank or authority more than simple lust for blood, money, or power.

Here's one of the guys who already expressed interest, posting to show that I'm still here and wanting to play!

I'm thinking I'll do a soulknife or psychic warrior, both classes seeming like lots of fun. However, I also am expecting to get the Class Acts: Rogue supplement soon.... although I just realized that wouldn't be allowed here, so never mind!

Anyway, I'm thinking a combat-oriented character who may also be a bit of a skill monkey OR a face. Not sure which just yet.

I'm working on a character right now; will post when ready!

Hey, so here's my idea for a character.

Name: Lucias Aermaine
Alignment: LE
Class: Sorcerer 1
Race: Human

Background: :
Born of house Aermaine, Lucias lived a very privileged life. Being a good-looking, rich, noble generally means getting what one wants. Lucias became incredibly accustomed to getting his way from an early age, using his words to spin the truth. His favorite target was his older brother William. Stupid and gullible, he made for a very easy target whenever Lucias got into trouble.

Manipulating others to get what he wanted became even easier when Lucias manifested his sorcerer powers. Using his new found magical ability, he could charm his way into getting exactly what he wanted when words weren't enough. However, there was always something that he would never get, the title of Lord Aermaine and his father's fortune. That was his brother's fate.

Lucias had always hated his brother. Completely incompetent, the oaf would still be the first to inherit their father, Dorian's title and fortune. The man could hardly read, much less handle being the head of a noble house. No, that title cleared belonged to Lucias, and he intended on taking it.

One night, after charming his brothers guards to get them out of the way, Lucias crept into his brothers room late in the night. The dagger across his brother's neck easily enough, and Lucias was finally rid of his obstacle. However, his enchantments were not powerful enough, and one of the guards came back to see Lucias holding the bloody dagger over his brother's dead body. Realizing that he would not be able to talk his way out of this, he summoned a creature to fight for him while he made his escape. Planning to leave town for good, Lucias was caught just before he could escape his family's estate.

His choice of sentence was death, with a chance to redeem himself for his crimes. Seeing that as his only chance of coming out alive, Lucias banded together with a group of other criminals, agreeing to the task at hand, and he began to bide his time to exact his revenge.

Here's the character sheet on Mythweavers, lemme know what you think: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=441156

I present you with Lauran Jalar.

I decided to go for NE human rogue in the end. Basically she's a pretty bitter girl from Daggermark. I'll flesh her out better later but here's the basic info:

Background:Lauran was a noble in one of the petty River Kindoms, her family exiled from Galt after the revolution. She was used to a life of (relative) luxury. Unfortunatley the kingdom she lived in had an uprising and once again her family was forced to flee.
Only this time her parents didn't make it and she was left alone in Daggermark to fend for herself.
Thanks to her natural cunning and deviousness(in truth her family did quite a lot to deserve what happened... although mentioning this to her wouldn't be the wisest idea one could have) she was able not only to survive but also to prosper as a cutpurse and a burglar. In Daggermark her success could very well have meant her death, but her skill actually earned her the interest of the Assassin guild and she was given a rather simple choice: become an apprentice or die.
Lauran graciously accepted the offer she was presented with and now, 2 years later she's allowed to work solo. She has earned a degree of trust from her superiors (as much as individuals in their line of work trust anyone) and can now take contracts alone.

Lauran knows she has a long way to go before she can recover the wealth and prestige she feels belong to her by right, but she remains optimistic: she's more than willing to walk all the road, one bloody step after the other...

Submitting Dogar the Wild, a Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard for this campaign.

Stated him as an alternate for a Dwarves vs Elves campaign but went with another PC instead. Can easily remove the few things specific to that campaign.

EDIT: Oh hey Adam! Didn't realize that was you at first. Cheers!

Hey Kibbs! how's it going!

I realized the character couldn't be viewed. Now it should be OK:

Lauran Jalar

I've decided on my race-class combination: human soulknife. I'm thinking he's a bit of an assassin of sorts: he's able to simply stroll into wherever he needs to, completely free of weapons, get close to the target... and conjure a mind blade to take down his foe.

I use the "he" pronoun, but it may be a girl in the end; trying to decide whether I want to do that or not, and I'll see how it works the backstory or whatever.

I'm planning to take the light weapon mind blade, although I'm thinking I'm not going to take the traditional dual-wielding build with that.

with regard to my previous submission:

Greatest Crime:

well, he is wanted for the following crimes: [list]
  • murder of the royal family pet dog
  • killed two children that threw apples at him
  • killed a nobleman's horse as it was tied up in the street
  • caused 3 structure fires, killing 4 and scarring over 20 parishioners
  • he steals a lot, but hasn't been caught

    Salsa, feedback?

I'm still not sure. It is an interesting concept, but I'm not sure if it would work.

Also with some of the thoughts in my head, anti-paladin may not be the best route. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that anti-paladins may wind up losing their stuff depending how this goes.

Zodt's fine, I like the very goblin rap sheet.

heh, i figure that stuff would be funny. i love goblins. i will spin him up to your character creation specifics later today

    The Exchange

Would you permit my character to vacillate between paladin/antipaladin based on the dominant personality at the time? I know it's odd, but... I like it.

I could use the master chymist rules.

well as soon as you were in regular paladin mode you would try to kill us or at the very least flee and refuse to associate with us

    The Exchange

Well that depends. It's "last chance". If there's one way paladins can accept evil cohorts, it's to help them on the road to redemption. Especially if it's also the road to his own redemption.

My thought is that he has an evil ancestry (maybe dhampir) and became a paladin to escape his fate. A deity took mercy on him and empowered him, but a great fiend also took notice and tried to force him into service with the spirits of his ancestors. These two forces constantly vie for his soul, and he's caught in between. Thus the alignment/atonement rules are somewhat... bent.

ah i see. that will be interesting in gameplay

Mighty as well toss in a submission. This character was submitted for a WotW campaign, but the DM seems to have gone absent before ever starting the campaign. Please ignore the stats for now as they are built off of a Focus/Foible system. If accepted, will figure out how to switch things.

May I present Xrezth the Discordant. Fallen Assimar Bard(Dawnflower Dervish/Animal Speaker).

Hey DM-Salsa, whats up - this is Tirion's submission.

Nothing much, just trying to graduate.

EDIT: Interesting character. Throwing her into a group of men is probably going to be like throwing a lit match into a room full of powder kegs. :)

Well, as long as they don't have any ethics or morals to destroy, the men do not have a problem.

Any comments Salsa? Also actually, not a complete problem throwing Xrezth in because this character is gay :P.

Unfortunatley in her climb to success there was a minor detour as she was caught just after completing a particularly gory commission. Instead of fleeing immediately she

Personality: If a single sin could define one's personality Lauran would be defined by Greed. She longs for wealth and power, things she feels entitled to, and there's nothing she won't do in order to get them.
Other unsavory aspects of her personality are her extreme arrogance and her inability to hide her predatory ways. Being a fallen noble she has trouble empathizing with other people, and that's a big limit in a profession like hers, where understanding what the target would do and how to manipulate him is paramount to success.

Greatest crime: Assassination. She killed at least 7 people before being caught. Her favored method of assassination is sneaking into the victim's house and stab him (or her) to death. But she has also killed with poison and by planting an arrow in one of her victim's eyes. She's also fond of robbing her victims before leaving the scene of murder, although this has not always proven pratical (and that's the reason she was caught, actually)

I would like to submit this 3rd party race, called the Obitu. For those who are lazy and don't really want to read it, the Obitu are not quite dead but not quite undead either. Some time ago, a few necromancers tried to bring back a bunch of skeletons with positive energy. They succeded in animating a bunch of living skeletons, imune to the turning effects that would defeat a normal skeleton. Unfortunately, the Obitu's mind started to mature and they started to think for themselves.

I would like to submit to you the Obitu monk named Grey.

    Grey:
While living, Grey was a wizard of great reputation. He unfortunately was captured by necromancers and turned into the abomination you see here. A kind Obitu named Tobias turned him into an Obitu and informed him of who he once was. In death, Grey had lost all of his magical powers, his family, and his last chance to be normal. He then vowed that he would kill these necromancers with his barehands, and anyone who got in his way. Tobias warned Grey that that was not the way Obitu should feel, and that he should probably learn to live and forget. Needless to say, Tobias was Grey's first victim. He has now been captured for killing the first necromancer, a man who was repenting for his crimes against nature, and is sent into the dungeon crawl.

    Tirq:
Okay, a couple of problems. One, this starts out on Golarion, so an undead character is not likely to survive long considering what happened with the Whispering Tyrant. Dhampirs can at least pass as somewhat normal, so they get a free pass. A skeleton though, probably not going to happen. Two, how the heck did a first level character defeat a 15th to 20th level necromancer with his bare-hands? Repentance does not bar self-defense and it's more likely that Grey got wasted. Sorry to sound so blunt, but when I saw that, I had to do a double-take.

PS Might want to look into having your character from Geb if you want to play an undead.

I'm seeing some good stuff. Don't mind the maniacal laughter, that's just me...
    0:)

@ Akihiro: Nothing to add really. I like the character and it seems reasonable.

You probably shouldn't have told me he is gay though, I've had Rise of the Runelords on my mind lately, specifically the third installment. >:)

Is this campaign going to be centered on dungeon crawls or will it move into other environments? And is this based in Golarion?

The beginning will be a dungeon crawl yes. After that, who knows? It's up to the players.

Your character is from Golarion, but it's likely that you won't be staying there.

    DM-Salsa:
Mechanics wise, its not hard to get a good disguise score. Especially when the traits Augmented Disguise and Keeper of the Veil (Qadira) are used. That gives me a +3 for wearing a large orange mask and hood combo that covers my head, and gloves and boots for my body. An extra +3 from now being a class skill, a bonus +1 for putting skill points into it. The only problem is that he gets a -2 CHA for the race, but that still gives him a +6 bonus. Not to mention the fact simply hiding a part of your body gives you a +2 bonus. Unless the average person has Perception as a class skill, put points into it, and has a 14 in WIS, and rolled higher than me, then I should be fine.

But you said no, so I'll just drop out. A lot of people have applied, and have covered the bases pretty well, so have fun.

Sounds like an interesting campaign! I'm developing this character, a witch ,(or warlock for the gender-centric). Will post back with the particulars soon as I have things fleshed out.

Oops! Just realized I forgot the background!

Dogar is a bit of a...wild man, to say the least. He's been kicked out of the last seven Dwarven Halls he's lived in. For getting too drunk. From a Dwarven Hall. Seven of them. For being too drunk. Exactly. I see you get my drift. While he's usually a bit too lazy to ever do anything to be considered truly evil, the truth is that he is indeed much less likely to help a stranger in need than he is to help them. Unless of course there were to be something in it for him.

Likely Dogar's worst quality (and there are several) is that he is one mean, mean drunk. Followed closely by this is that he will fight, anyone, at the drop of a dime. In fact, he'll fight even if the dime is still safely tucked away in your pocket. His chances of actually winning the fight have very little to do with it, Dogar just happens to speak best with his fists, or whatever he happens to be holding in them. To date, his win column is certainly much bigger than his loss column though. This statistic may be inaccurate though as several of those he has supposedly lost against have disappeared under strange and mysterious circumstances, so have not been available for corroboration.

Dogar has, over his rambunctious life, been called many things: Arrogant, A$$#@le, Bully, Bastard, Grump, Grouch, Idiot, Jerk, Kitty Stomper, Layabout, Lazy, Lecher, Murderer, Monster, Puppy Killer, Sinner, Sloth, Ugly, Viscous, Wastrel, to name just a few. Interestingly enough, he has very rarely been called any of these things to his face. Well, at least not by people interested in keeping their teeth in their mouth, as opposed to, say, carrying them around in a cup. (And he strenuously asserts that both the offending Kitty and Puppy were looking at him funny).

Drogar has worked in a variety of professions, from Bouncer to Bone Breaker, from Mercenary to Murderer-for-Hire, basically, whatever pays the bar tab. He really stepped into it though with his last gig. It seemed simple at first, publicly rough up and embarrass the amorous competition of one less-then-scrupulous bar owner (ha! I jest!) for the attentions of a particularly beautiful courtesan. Who knew that the victim would have had such a glass chin! Or neck, rather, as the case turned out to be. And who knew even more that the scrawny sop would just happen to be the beloved nephew of the Mayor. So there you have it. Dogar of course squealed at the first opportunity, trying to pin the blame on the bartender, but there was little chance of his word being believed over that of such a fine, upstanding member of the community (I je...well, you know my humour by now). So, faced with the choice of either hanging by his neck till dead, or dying on his feet in some dungeon, Dogar jumped at the chance. Besides, this way he at least still had a shot of getting his hands on the neck of that bartender. And maybe the mayor too, just for good measure.

So you tell me, does he sound more NE or CE?

@ Dogar: First of all: GREAT piece!

Second: he's definitely NE to me, he's evil for his own gain, he wouldn't do things that hindered his chances to gain some profit (both monetary or just "moral"... and yes I use the word lightly here). Maybe this changes when he's drunk, but I don't think alignment is meant to take drunkness into consideration...

hammer, nail, head. You hit it.

He sounds NE, even when drunk, just not very wise.

Well, that sort of depends. If you know you are an a$$hole when you drink, and you drink anyway, I would say that is pushing the chaotic side. It shows a self centered I don't care about anyone else atitude.

    The Exchange

Since my last idea didn't gain any traction, would a dhampir wind oracle or Ifrit flame oracle be acceptable?
Or did I miss the boat already?

Nope, you're still good, and either of those will do.

Definitely seems to be NE with maybe some chaotic tendencies. A self gain attitude does not imply chaotic, just the evil part so I would say even willingly being an aggressive drunk is not chaotic. Though he is definitely not leaning towards lawful evil

    The Exchange

Ifrit flame oracle, by the name of Dashuun, has come to throw in his lot with this band of condemned souls and hopefully earn himself another birthday.

Checking in again! Here's the crunch for my submission, Einarr the Silencer. Despite his weak Disguise score as of right now, I'm hoping it'll pile on and get better what with Augmented Disguise and the sheer number of things he has to help out. I understand this may not be of great use in a dungeon crawl, but it fits the character concept of what he used to do.

I'll hopefully get background and other fluff up before long. Let me know what you think so far!

Okay looks like this is slowing down, so I'll be closing recruitment and announcing the (un)lucky members of the party tonight, unless I get a sudden influx of applications, then I'll wait a bit to give everyone a chance.

@ Loup: I'll be taking a look later, I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment.

@ D-kal: Looks interesting, but the same as Loup, I'll have to take a closer look later.

MUST PLAY! Here's 3 concepts, if any appeal to you I can flush out the backstories.

    Karthus:

Karthus is a lawful evil undead lord cleric. He is generally an easy going person, unless you stand in the way of his ultimate goal - leaving behind flesh and death for the power of lichdom.

    Lee Sin:

Lee Sin is a lawful evil hungry ghost quinggong monk. He uses crits to steal ki to power his abilities.

    Gaius:

Gaius is a chaotic neutral blackblade magus. He is a very meek and passive person, only willing to do things when coaxed. He hears a voice in his head which tells him what to do. The voice is chaotic/true evil and very ego centric. Once he acquires the blackblade, its personality is that of the voice in his head. Essentially the blade controls the character. I have fun dialog in mind! (pun)

So let me know what you think! I'm super interested in playing.

Elondor, just took a quick look at your concepts to see who I may be teaming up with... They all look quite cool and fun! However, I'd be careful with Gaius, since the DM said he wants evil characters, not just neutrals with a mean streak.

This character is also kinda creepy to me...:
...because literally EARLIER TODAY I was thinking I might want to play such a character some time: magus whose black blade tells him what to do and is of a different alignment (which is unacceptable based on the rules, sadly...). In my case, it was brought on by listening to Black Blade by Blue Oyster Cult (fitting, huh?).

Gaius would need some re-working. I like Lee Sin the most of the other two. Could you give me a little more on their personalities?

Also, due to work, I'm going to have to extend this a day. I'll close recruitment tomorrow night.
