The caves were feeling a little cluttered with goblin corpses. So I've deleted the tokens off the map. Had a bit of an accident and must have had some of your tokens selected too because they got deleted. I've tried to put everyone back in the right spot...

Ah, sorry about that. Must have happened when I was clearing away goblin corpses. I must have deleted your token from the map accidentally and then replaced you, but your token isn't set up to emit light by default and I hadn't reset the light.

General Question: How do you find the dynamic lighting. I like it for my home game but it might not be ideal for a pbp?

How has it been so far? Frustrating? Ok? Good?

The good thing is that you can move your tokens and see (basically) what your character sees. It's a bit tough for Roth and Ràghnall though, who don't have darkvision and aren't carrying a light source at the moment.

I like it for this purpose. I just kind of assume that what I can see, I can see. I think I actually find it a bit better for PBP than I do in the actual F2F game I play in Roll20 where active movement is a thing. Hitting a wall isn't nearly as painful here. :D

The dynamic lighting is great- it sets a much spookier feel than without. It's working well here and I echo Felicia- it's great in PBP- Ràghnall and Roth just need to Stand by Me

I'm surprised at how much fun Awakened Mind actually is. Semi-intelligent enemies make it so much more interesting.

Splitting loot (OOC Discussion)

I figured it makes more sense for us to have the OOC discussion of loot distribution over here rather than in OOC tags in the game thread. :)

Personally, I don't mind doing a R/P/S kind of distribution (or even a roll the bones, highest roll takes it) when the sum total is under 100 gold. If it's more than 100 gold and has no useful properties (so it's not a magic mace of greater face whackery), adding it to a pool of goods to be sold off and subsequent coinage split up from there.

I think that good of group needs to be a consideration when/if we hit magical items of some sort.

Additionally, if we want, I can set up a Google sheet to track our acquired stuff.

Okay I've changed my mind regarding the jade frog. Let's pool sell and split the proceeds. I also echo good of group when it comes to magic items and when the path is not clear I like the 'roll the bones' highest wins approach

No, but if you gain new slots you have those immediately. So Iago would have 1/3 slots available.

Hey folks, I'm just waiting for 1-2 more characters to weigh into the debate about whether or not to push on with the marching into the night before I go with the majority

You could theoretically travel slower and attempt to cover your tracks with a survival roll but you'd each need to roll 1 more con save.

To be clear: No one has had to roll any con saves at the point in time that Gundren awakes and this discussion would take place.

Awarding inspiration

Hey folks, just having some thoughts on awarding inspiration. I'd like to open it up so you can award each other inspiration. I know there are probably times I've missed a good reason to give it out.

So if you want to award inspiration to someone please post here in the discussion thread with a simple one sentence reason and I'll add it into the 'inspiration spoiler'

These are the reasons I'll be handing out inspiration:


  • Flavourful combat posts
  • Consistent 'in character' habits (e.g. Iago's battle cry, or Felicia's scary telepathy.)
  • Playing to your Traits, Ideals, Bonds, Flaws. (Sometimes I could miss this because I probably can't memorise them all, if you feel that I have please PM me or post here.
  • Being hit with a Crit
  • Making me laugh, either in character or an ooc comment about the game.

Also I know it might be a pain but when rolling with Advantage (or Disadvantage) could I get everyone to format it like this:
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Adv: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I almost missed that Felicia had used her inspiration in her last post.

Similarly (but perhaps less critical) I'd prefer only one die roll per line of text when rolling attack and damage etc. it just makes it clearer for me to read.

I hope everyone is still enjoying the game, I know the trip back to Phandalin has dragged on in real world time and I'm sorry about that!

Work continues to be unreasonably busy! Why do people need their forklifts working anyway... don't they know there's gaming to be done!

I hope everyone is still enjoying the game, this part gets a little sandboxy, there are plenty of adventure hooks about the town.

I've enjoyed your approach to the adventure so far. Storming the Cragmaw Castle and rescuing Gundren at your level was quite a feat!
