Richard Harmon
Richard draws his bow and gets ready to shoot at ant of the board unaffected by entangle.
Colwyn the Toad
Colwyn creeps forward into the brush, closing the distance slightly so he can better aim for his prey's vitals.
He listens to Elena's prayer, feeling a strange peace despite the promise of blood, and waits until the undergrowth seizes the boars before loosing his arrow from where he hides.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Shortbow vs Yellow Boar: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sneak Attack Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Using his Fast Stealth rogue talent, Colwyn moves at full speed without penalty to Stealth. He waits for the Entangle spell to be cast before firing at the Yellow Boar, benefiting from Point Blank Shot and Sneak Attack

Reflex Yellow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Reflex Green: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Reflex red: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Elena causes the very plants they feed on to reach out and entangle the Boars. Green & Yellow squeal in surprise as they are bound. Red snorts furiously and turns to fight.
Yellow grunts in anger as Colwyn's arrow hits him hard, sinking in deeply.
The rest of the party may now go. You have a surprise round as the Boars were far too busy eating to notice you.
Mykhael Medvyed
The thrill of the hunt fills Mykhael and the reckless noble rushes forward eager to join the fray. He silently curses his lame leg and the under brush as he doesn't make it very far.
Elena Voritzova
Elena takes a shot with her bow.
Aiming at Yellow. He has a -4 DEX penalty from entangle and is already wounded.
bow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
bow damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Richard Harmon
Now wearing the fine quality chain shirt Richard fires off his longbow before dropping it and moving forward drawing his dueling sword, hoping the boar might pay more attention to him than the others.
Longbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Colwyn the Toad
Seeing the unbound boar, Colwyn quickly slaps another arrow against his bow and lets it fly.
Shortbow vs Red: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Sneak Attack Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
And he curses as he drops the arrow in his haste right before releasing the bow string.
Xantria Aldori
Xan fired at the boar who'd avoided Elena's vines, positioning herself so that - if it charged them - she'd be in position to begin engaging it.
Longbow Attack on Red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
GM_DBH
Niadroub & Xantria both put shots into Red, while everyone else misses.
Red snorts and struggles across the clearing to attack Richard.
Gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The entangling plants throw off his strike.
Reflex Green: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Reflex Yellow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Both the other two Boars tear themselves free of their bonds and scramble forward to attack.
The party may now act.
Richard Harmon
Richard swings at the boar that just attempted to assault him to keep it's interest before moving to get another one within his reach. He'd be suffering for it he knew but it would keep the boars off the others to let them use their skills best.
Attacking Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Xantria Aldori
Xan moved up alongside Richard, covering his flank by going after one of the boars that freed itself from the undergrowth.
Attacking Yellow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Mykhael Medvyed
The oracle hustles to the battle and thrust his long spear at one of the rushing boars. He smiled with satisfaction knowing he struck true.
Attacking Yellow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Attacking Yellow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Too bad
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Niadroub Kliip
Again moving to enable line of sight, Niadroub Kliip sets his sights on the boar that hasn't yet reached the party (green). He casts expeditious excavation at the beast.
Spending another arcane reservoir point to increase the spell's DC by 1.
I have no idea how this will interact with the entangle spell!
Elena Voritzova
Elena, seeing her friends now in melee with the boars, takes out her holy symbol and asks Erastil for his blessing.
"Holy father, bless our hunt,
let our arrows and spears strike fair;
let our quarry fall before our blows,
for my people I make this prayer."
Casting bless. Everyone is in the AoE.
Colwyn the Toad
"Fly straight, or it's kindling for you," he growls at the new arrow he nocks, aiming for the red boar.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 5
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
However, the arrow strikes a stout tree and snaps.
"Good riddance to you. Fine. We'll try it this way," he barks, dropping his bow and drawing his sword.
Standard: Shoot, Free: Drop Bow, Move: Draw short sword.

Richard cuts hard into Red
Xantria & Mykhael both hit Yellow seriously.
Red & Yellow are now in negatives, but carry on thanks to Ferocity.
Elena strengthens the party with her magic, while Niadroub attempts his cunning trick again.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Green squeals as a pit opens under his hooves, scrambling to a safer patch on land and again tearing through the entangling plants.
It says in the spell description that a successful save lets them land safely, or hop to an unchanged square. So I gave the Entangle another attack as the boar set it's hooves to jump.
Red continues it's attack on Richard with single minded ferocity.
Gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Flailing poorly at him.
Yellow lowers it's head and tries to gore Xantria
Gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Missing weakly.
Green scrambles over the treacherous ground of the clearing and attacks Richard
Gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Oh come on!
He also misses.
The party may now go again.
Colwyn the Toad
Colwyn crashes through the underbrush in his path to circle around the wounded red boar, aiming to finish the fuming beast.
Short Sword vs Red: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 19
Damage+Sneak Attack: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (5) = 11

Surprised that the irate swind still fights on Mykhael thrusts he spear at his porcine opponent again.
Attack Yellow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Elena Voritzova
Elena runs up behind Richard. She nocks her bow again and lets fly once more.
Is green the only one left? I don't see the other ones on the map. FYI Richard doesn't provide cover because of a trait.
bow -4 in melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 4 = 16
bow damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Xantria Aldori
Xan's gonna be running right around the boar's threatened squares - guess all that time playing Blood Bowl's finally paying off. :P
With just one boar left, Xan went wide around its flanks to attack it from behind while Richard kept it distracted.
Blessed, Flanking Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 28

Glad to not be surrounded by quite so many boards Richard attempts to take advantage of the confusion and strike at the last boar.

Niadroub Kliip
"Sveetlena wants moon redishes."
Niadroub Kliip thinks about how much Svetlana is offering for the radishes and his scraggly eyebrows shoot up.
"She reeally wents moon redishes."
The arcanist and others put as many radishes in a bag as will fit.
Richard Harmon
"I say we head back with the radishes. If we head shortly perhaps the hide and meat of the boars can be salvaged and put to use."
So I think that's two for heading back to the trading post. We've been gone a bit.
Colwyn the Toad
"Aye," Colwyn agrees, leading Sandy over so he could load her saddlebag up with radishes. "I don't know about you folks, but I've only got enough trail meals for another day or two, so I'd like to return to the post to resupply. Not to mention I'd rather not go gallivanting any further from home, hauling these carcasses as they grow more pungent."
Colwyn begins gathering together some branches and creepers from the underbrush, as well as uncoiling the length of rope from his pack.
"Let me show you a trick my Da' taught me to haul big game back more easily."
Colwyn's going to attempt to build a litter so he can drag one of the boars back, like an improvised sled.
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Mykhael Medvyed
"Let me give you a hand Master Toad," Mykhael offered.
Aid another (Survival): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Mykhael Medvyed
Mykhael helped to gather the Moon Radishes thinking about how well their peppery flavor will complement the roasted pork and shared, "They say that Moon Radishes have aphrodisiac like properties."
K.Nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Elena Voritzova
"A good hunt, everyone. Male boars are usually solitary; these must be a family group of some kind."
"We can rig up something with some poles to carry the boars by their feet. There are plenty of trees around so a sapling will do. Though we should bleed them before the blood congeals. Who has rope? We'll need to hoist them by the back legs."
I'd rather not drag the boars along the ground on a sled; they could pick up all kinds of vermin that way.
Elena takes her small knife and slits the throats of the boars, in preparation for bleeding them.
"This is a lot of meat. Maybe we can smoke some when we get back to Oleg and Svetlana's."
Richard Harmon
Richard doesn't pass any comment on the observations and conjecture but has a little smile across his lips. "There's no reason not to head back now at least. We've have a pretty successful trip so far and I'm glad to see we've found not close bandit camps."
Colwyn the Toad
1 person marked this as a favorite.
When Mykhael offers help, Colwyn rolls his eyes and suppresses a groan as he weaves some wood switches together.
”Splendid, the limping lordling wants to help,” he thinks to himself as Mykhael again uses his detested nickname.
The former bandit finds it difficult to read this newcomer to their band. Quick to err on the side of dubiousness, Colwyn concludes that Mykhael is purposely goading him. Nevertheless, the presence of a noble, no matter how minor, redoubles his anxious resolve to keep his past exploits obscure.
”For my own safety, guess I’m back to being the failed son of a hinterlands hunter.”
His mood lightens with the discussion of the moon radishes and their amorous effects, and he even offers a hoarse chuckle.
”Maybe I ought to pickle some of these and bring ‘em to Mivon for a good time - if I could find a lass in that town who didn’t smell like eels.”
Colwyn looks up from his work as Elena offers her suggestion on the carrying poles.
"Aye, that is a good way to carry them, unless you've got a fair march ahead of you. I reckon there's about 12 miles of open land between us and the trading post. Frankly, I'd rather have Sandy bear the load on her four legs than rely on my two. Then again, who am I to argue with a priestess of the Hunter himself?"
In character, Colwyn would probably stubbornly keep to his idea, but I don't want an argument to delay our return.
GM_DBH
You return to Oleg's with a load of fresh boar, Oleg himself seems to be looking younger and more alive with the constant stress of the Bandits removed from his life.
Svetlana is overjoyed when you present her a healthy basket of her desired Moonradishes, her smile growing rather naughty for a moment. She hands you to sum agreed to in her notice. 250gp.
The lords of Restov have also sent the bounty they offered for those who removed the bandit problem from the area. 400gp.
With the trading post now able to trade without a constant drain Oleg has wasted little time contacting his backers and has new stock in, and increased cash reserves to purchase what you bring in.
He can spend up to 500gp buying from you now, and has nearly all the basic gear in stock. Anymore cash, or special orders will still take a week to arrive from Restov.
Feeling a bit better now. Not 100% but I can sit at my computer at least.
Richard Harmon
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better
Can we do anything with the boar, convert it into rations that kind of a thing?
"Anyone have any plans for acquisitions? I think I'm going to keep saving up. My sword is quite serviceable but I've had it a long time and the balance is a little off. A new one of high quality might be enough to make the difference between life and death."
I'd say to area four next
Mykhael Medvyed
I'm fine with selling the gear and with #4.
Mykhael agreed with Richard's approach, "I'll be saving my share also." He smiled, "But first we have a hog to roast!" The man helps with the preparations to cook one of the boars.
GM_DBH
While everyone is happily anticipating Boar roasted over an open fire as a welcome change from rations, and what to have with is being debated eagerly. There is still the question of what to do with the other two carcasses?
Svetlana offers for a small fee of 20gp to turn them into sausage for you, using the trading posts small smoke house to dry them out and give you a healthy stock of something tasty to carry with you.
Richard Harmon
Richard is in favour of this, sausages will be a good change of pace.
Colwyn the Toad
"Aye, that sounds scrumptious. I'll grab some coins right after I stable Sandy."
Colwyn walks his horse to the stable, then makes his way to the bunkhouse, happily humming to himself.
Elena Voritzova
"We should have a feast! Let's not be stingy when there's this much food! Is there anyone else that we could invite?"
Mykhael Medvyed
A feast would be nice," the young noble agreed as he missed some of the finer things that came with life at his parents estate. He sniffed the air and added, "But I think the smell alone will bring everyone from miles around."
GM_DBH
The familiar magic of boar roasting over an open fire soon works it's magic and people start drifting into the trading post to find the source of that delicious aroma.
Svetlana has a tray set under boar to collect it's juices as they sizzle off the browning meat, mixing the captured juice with red wine, garlic and onion to use in basting the meat as it turns. This only increases the heavenly smells floating about.
Soon several local hunters have drifted into the post and are passing around jugs of moonshine while they wait the coming feast with hungry grins.
A pair of pack traders and their hired guard come hurrying in, looking around with surprise. "Heard things were looking up around here Oleg." One says with a smile, eyeing the fire with anticipation.
A newcomer to the post also comes closer, nodding at the party when he hears it's your work that's bought in the boar. "Mighty kind of you." He says in thanks. His eyebrows rise a little when he see's Elena. "Greetings Sister." He displays his own holy symbol of Erastil to her. This is Jhod Kavken a Cleric of Erastil, and one with something important to discuss with her.
Elena Voritzova
Though Elena isn't much of a cook, she busies herself with helping in the kitchen, and serving when it is time to eat. "No, no. Reminds me of home," she remarks, when it is suggested that she relax and let others do the work.
Then she sees the wandering priest arrive.
"Brother, welcome! You came just in time. Have a seat, we're just about to eat. We can talk over dinner, or if you prefer privacy, maybe a bit later. I'm sure whatever news you have can wait until you've had something to eat."
Mykhael Medvyed
Content Mykhael shares some moonshine as he considers the attendees, They definitely wouldn't be invited to one of mother's dinner parties. He passes the evening learning more about this rough and tumble people.
Richard Harmon
Richard makes sure to get to know the trappers learn their names, it may become relevant later so best to learn now and make a good impression. He'll happily let them know about the group dealing with the bandit problem and dangerous wildlife.
If any of the trappers or visitors have any rumours or concerns he will hear them. This was an excellent opportunity and he wasn't going to let a few sausages turn him into a fool and miss out on this opportunity.
