Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
Frustrated, Egan tries to speak Ignan to Slurk.
Not sure how outside of Comprehend Languages and that is one way. That spell is on Maksim's list, but we would have to come back tomorrow to try that.
Looking more closely at Slurk's hand Egan will point to it and ask Heal?
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Maksim, waved in, joins the group. He notes that what he thought was the sounds of many frog people was the voice of the frog knight's mount.
Having no skill at languages and at Egan implied request, Maksim looks at the damaged hand. Not touching he tries to see how hurt it is and is there anything he can do about it?
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Heal 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
ninja'd again post revised to account for it.
DM_Ego
Boggads have their own languange, so unfortunately none of those work Arielle.
Garuum initially pulls away from Maksim when he goes to inspect his hand, but seeing his kindly experession he submits it for inspection.
The wound is very old, it looks as though his hand has been badly broken some time in the past and has set poorly. You could try and fix it but it would involve rebreaking the hand amd the fine bones probably wouldn't set correctly.
After your inspection Garuum will pantomime what happened to his hand. "Garuum!" He mimes riding his Slurk with his lance in hand. "Boggards... Slurks..." He gestures around him, then raises his lance arm as though in victory. "Boggard!" He stands to his full height and raises his hand high, indicating a big boggard or a chief. Then he swings his arms and falls to the ground, quickly flipping over he makes the sign for the big boggard again before bringing his good hand up and down like a hammer on his maimed hand. He cowers on the floor before leaping to his feet and making the sign for big boggard, "Garuum, GO!" and he holds his good arm out pointing into the distance.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
Egan nods his understanding. I think he was exiled for something that happened in a battle. Maybe because of his would. But maybe his leader caused the wound. Not sure.
Egan tries to ask him what he will do now.
Bluff, with Guidance: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
DM_Ego
Not bad Egan, his chief caused his wound and he was exiled.
Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Garuum watches Egans pantomime intensely. He responds by walking over to his lance, he ties some raged cloth to the tip and plants it in the mudl near the ruin. "Garuum!" He gestures around and points to himself.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
Egan nods, understanding and agreeing. Garuum is claiming this ruin for himself. For his home. He tells the other.
Egan tries to find out if more Boggards will come or if he will be here alone.
Bluff: 1d29 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
He then tries to tell him about their mission to map the land and make is safe for travelers, telling Garumm that they would like to be his friend and ally.
Bluff: 1d29 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
DM_Ego
Only rolling 15 on a d29 is poor Egan! :p
Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Garuum struggles to understand Egans mimes, though says "No!" firmly at the mention of other boggards. His hand drops to his weapon but he does not draw it.
Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
I'm going to count this one as a pass since you have the actual maps as a visual aid.
Garuum nods as you bring out your maps, he gestures around his home and makes a welcoming motion, giving you permission to explore the mire. "You, boggard... truce. He grips his hands together again before making a sleeping sign and pointing to his ruins, "You."
Once he knows you understand his offer he will take up a stick and scatter some fire ash on the floor, he draws his tower in the middle. To the northeast he draws a building and a four legged creature with antlers, to the west he draws a large humanoid shape with a rock and a four legged creature with antlers, to the east he draws a four legged creature with tusks and to the south east he draws a pair of winged creatures with long necks and tails.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
What time of day is it?
Egan smiles and nods to Garuum. Then, tentatively he reaches out a hand to shake the Boggard's good hand, hoping Garuum is familiar with that custom. If he is not Egan will demonstrate with Silva and then offer again.
Everyone meet Garuum. Egan says addressing his group. Please introduce yourselves. We will be bedding down here tonight and will use this as a base of operations for a day or two as we explore the area. It may be that our boar is to the east.
Do the winged creatures look to be wyvern?
DM_Ego
By the time Maksim has done his stealthy approach and you have charaded half the afternoon away its probably getting on towards sunset.
Garuum at first looks confused at Egan's outstretched hand, but after seeing the demonstration with Silva he gets the idea and shakes.
He has zero artistic ability so they look like squiggly lines with wings.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Maksim looks over the hand and shakes his head, saying "I'm sorry, I can't help; it's too bad. Maybe someday the Forest Father will bless me so..."
Maksim is very impressed by how well Egan can commuicate with the Frogman. At his request, Maksim points to himself and says, "Maksim." he points to the frogman saying, "Garrum.", giving a slight bow.
DM Ego's previous post did not appear until after I posted.

[OocAct like a wyvern?[/ooc]
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Garuum seems to understand Egans pantomimes of wings amd stingers but he shakes his head, he croaks something and then struggles for several minutes to demostrate his point before shrugging. He roars and flaps his arms like wings, he takes a deep breath and breathes out fiercely then shakes his head again.
I've mentioned the creature before but you can make a knowledge arcana dc15 if ou have it.
Arielle Windsong
know arcana 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Trying to stifle her laughter as Egan attempts to imitate a wyvern, Arielle tries to figure out what kind of creature that Garuum is trying to describe.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
"That's likely the answer, Arielle, they are dragonlike, and some infests this land, we will need to take both soon, to clear this land, if we can. And the coin that could be gained could be used to rebuild the Temple." Maksim looks around but sees nothing for him to do. That seems to bother him.
DM_Ego
Using Garuums ruins as a base camp you explore and map the mire, this takes up four days as you struggle through the boggy ground. By the time you leave Garuum has picked up a few more words of common through the pantomimes with Egan, he wishes you well amd welcomes you to visit when you need a place to stay.
Heading east the ground becomes more firm and the forest comes alive with birds and wildlife, before long you are riding your horses down ancient game trails with the trees close on either side.
You know the boar is somewhere nearby, lets have some survival to track it down before it finds you.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Maksim helps with the maping as best he can, the area about the frogman's keep being most unpleasant morland. They depart on friendly terms with the odd fellow. After a while they come close to the area where they expect to find the King of Boars, or so it seems from the posting. Uneasy, Maksim prays and searches for signs in his master's forest.
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Survival 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
DM_Ego
Make some perception checks so i lnow how big to make the map.
Maksim finds a recent trail which looks like the tracks of a large boar in the late morning of your second day roaming the area, tracing it back you find a dense knot of brambles and tress which must be the boars lair. Advancing cautiously you find the den empty, the boar must be out foraging.
When i have the map up you can decide how you want approach it.
Arielle Windsong
perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Arielle cautiously looks about the area where the boar's den is.
"So how big was this boar supposed to be again? Egan, how do you say 'boar' in Ignan?
DM_Ego
Tuskgutter lairs in the bowl of trees at I,-8.
The undergrowth around this area is thick with brambles but has numerous game runs criscrossing the area, the densest patch of undergrowth is between four trees and seems hollow unded the head high brambles which cover the area.
The bour is no where to be seen but Maksim is sure that he will return here if you wait for him.
Theres a good oportunity for an ambush here if you want to make a plan overnight.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Maksim whispers, "I'll go besides that tree and provide cover, best if others ready ranged weapons too, Lord Silva, with your armor best if you'd be ready to intercept any charge by the beast when it shows. If it pleases you."
Assuming -i,-8 is the intended location of Tuskgutter's lair, Maksim will try a slow, sneaky move to -4,-E, that is straight forward for 3 squares drawing readying his bow for attack.
Stealth 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Sneak to location 1/2 speed.
Survival 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Set up ambushing.
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Clearly see Tuskgutter's ambush of us... ;)
Nope , Erastil, A.K.A the sado-randomizer of these boards, sill disfavors Maksim.
DM_Ego
Sorry, i may not have been clear enough in my hurried posting while my daughter was complaining. Tuskgutter is not currently in his lair, so you have the opportunity to prepared yourselves a little and set an ambush, so for example if you wanted to dig a pit trap you could spend some time doing that or if you want to buff up thats an option. But you cannot be sure how long the boar will take to arrive until it shows up, so your positioning and plans are down to you.
Arielle Windsong
Toys with the idea of casting Grease on the boar and telling Silva to go wrestle it to the ground.
"Perhaps we could all find a tree to perch in and then shoot down upon the beast as it returns to its lair? I've never heard of a boar that could climb a tree, so it should be a fairly safe, if boring, plan?"
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
We are thinking alike Arielle, but if we are all in trees the boar may just run off. I could be in the low branches of a tree and as the boar is sighted cast an armor buff on Silva to fight it. Or maybe I need to be on the ground as well. I am well armored after all. And we should consider a pit, if the boar allows us time.
Arielle Windsong
"A pit in front of the entrance to its lair would be a good idea, if it gives us the time of course. I could even cast Grease upon the pit to make it harder for the boar to climb out of. Though since I'm not much use on the ground or digging, I'll go find a tree to perch myself in."
Silva Pasrati
The pig may catch our scent and be weary of returning to his den. I think we make a pit with spikes in front of a wall and use me as bait on the far side. Does anyone have skill in making traps?
LOL at the greased pig idea Arielle. I like the way you think.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Maksim rumbles his dissent, "A pit trap would take much too long. And I cannot draw and fire a longbow from a treetop perch. It's best we just line in wait at good spots, where he would find it difficult to approach from."
Finding good points to cover the den and be safer than otherwise.
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Survival 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Andrej 'Catfoot'
We do much boar hunting at home... Long spears... anger the beast and let it charge our spears. If we can keep it at bay? Arrows into its flanks? Spells to its face? We should come though in one piece... if its only a boar, large though it maybe. If its another creature instead, then I cannot say.
Maksim Zavid Radoslavov
Once again assuming that -I,-8 is the location of the lair, will make his way to -4,-E, just as I said above. If there is a better location based on the rolls he already made, then move to there stealthly. If -4,-E counts as offmap, then -5,-E. I do not see any reason to change anything given nothing has happened.
Maksim waits, with a hunter's stoic patience, for Tuskgutter to come into view, bow in hand, ready to draw and fire on the beast.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge
Not sure that the column -4 is on the actual Map Maksim. I guess you can be there but its not shown, at least on my map.
Egan finds a good spot to crouch in -L-19 and recommends Arielle comes with him and stays at -M-19.
DM_Ego
Taking your positions and readying your weapons with Andrej and Maksim covering one side, Silva behind a tree on the other with Egan and Arielle supporting him from behind a fallen log you settle in for a long wait.
After several hours of sitting still and shivering in the cool spring air you hear a snuffling sound from the south before the boar emerges along a game trail, though it is no larger than a normal boar its tusks are much larger than you would expect and are the dark red of dried blood.
Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
No one roll initiative other than Silva btw.
DM_Ego
Why should no one else roll initiative? Been waiting for a while to advance and want to do something. :) I can roll it in a spoiler if you want. And is the map updated?
Sorry, thats was ment to say rollED. As only Silva actually rolled it. The map is updated as well, just waiting on initiatives.

Tuskgutter approaches the area carefully, moving slowly though he nears his lair. As he advances he tosses his head around, snuffling at the air. Catching scent of something or someone he stops in place before advancing slowly and deliberately.
Moves to -d, -21.
