Casvian looks at Kronos thinking that he does not even need to ask the question. He just expects Kronos to start talking.

Male Half-Elf Bard 1/Wizard 6

Teriwyth stands among the crowd, blending in both clothes and temperament, though his eyes are different. They hold a smoldering defiance, staring into the eyes of the strangers.

Run Down?:
Could anyone give me a quick rundown of what's going on? from what I gather from the recent posts you guys just saved the drow and his group of people but now he's attacking you because along with saving him you led to several tragic events on his part?

Can someone clear this up for me please?

Teriwyth:
I recommend RP for now. Pick a side in the ruccus. Your character doesn't know much more than what is in front of him. As far a player knowledge, I suggest starting from post #452 when Kronos first appears. There is alot of exposition there and we can assume that the others would tell you this in due process.

Female Human Monk 7

That might be intimidating, but you aren't winning friends that way. Not only have you spat in the face of these peoples emotions with an empty gesture of sacrifice (I truly doubt you would have offered such a remedy to their fears if you had any fear of their attack) but your display has wasted time that we could spend on the road trying to protect their families.

What side are you on?
Sense motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Male Dark Elf Wizard?

"I can assure you, Edelle, that my sacrifice is very real. I feel each blow, and I bleed real blood. My life is not threatened no, but the point was not to cause more death. These people have been made to suffer due to my actions, and if attacking me helps this woman to feel better, then I will accept that as my duty. But you are exactly right. I wish you well on your journey and rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to ensure our success. I am sorry my presence has caused strife here. "

He turns to the woman from a moment ago, and nods his head with a look of sympathy and guilt before disappearing into the ether.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

As the only alternative to madness, Alric begins to laugh like a mad Heyena, as the weight of his imprisonment sloughs from his shoulders.

Female Human Monk 7

So who's up for investigating his claims and heading back to Startville ASAP to see what's going on?

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

@Edelle

Draconic:
If he is decieving us, what would we do at all different? Kill him? You saw how that worked for the woman. We must trust him, because there is no alternative.

male Halfling rogue 6

Startsville it is. Lets move it before we make some new orc friends.

Confirmation:
I wasn't really looking for a replay of the whole campaign, more so the time he spent as an NPC, like I completely misunderstood the last few posts, I thought that my guy was a prisoner and saw the party as hostile.

From what I gather I was in the group that was freed from the drow and came with the party through the underground river and down towards Startville, please correct me if I'm wrong.

A man steps forward from the group, he straightens his posture and shows that he stands just a bit taller than the other captives. Letting his tattered cloak fall back he pulls out his makeshift cane, a broken off table leg and plants it on the ground in front of him.

"If you and your people require aid I would be most honored to oblige."

Teriwyth:
You are correct. After you came to the ranchland near Startville, you were captured one night and enslaved by the drow. These heroes before you recently freed you and the others. Kronos has claimed that he is responsible for the end of the world prophecy because he trained Kronos, the Son, who is the real enemy. Kronos has asked you to defeat his student's lieutenants and supporters in order to weaken him and prevent him from carrying out his plans to destroy the world

Edelle Flexhorn wrote:

"That sounds good to me. I guess I will get the adventure I came looking for. Next time, however, I will be more careful when I ask for something. Almost dying is not as glamorous as it sounds in the stories you hear about those barely escaping death."

After resting a while longer, your group gathers up once again and heads South towards Startville. As you do this, the group separates into several factions. There are some who join closer to you, convinced in your cause and wanting to defend their home. There are, however, those who do not trust the words of Kronos, the Ancient. These people hang further back and travel slower, more cautiously. They are protecting some of the heavier treasures taken from the drow temple. The most precious of this loot appears to be a golden chest of much weight that nearly cost a couple of greedy dwarves their lives to get it through the water trap. As you approach closer to the city, you find it eerily unsettled about you. It seems as though nature itself is agitated by your presence. Birds caw before flying off. Rabbits flee to their warrens, and all around you, the smells of autumn turn to rot and decay. You come upon ranch land that marks the outer rim of Startville. " Not long now. " You think to yourself. There in the nearest pen you see a ranch hand on horseback trying to move his stock to a nearby pen. He is having trouble advancing them, and your presence as you come down the road provokes the cattle into a frenzy. They begin to circle around angrily and the horse rears up violently, launching the rider into the chaos. After a moment, the fencing collapses in front of you and a half dozen large horned bulls move over your group in an attempt to trample. initiative, reflex save, action

Teriwyth says aloud "With Great Haste"

Teriwyth casts Haste on the brave heroes.

Haste:
Targets Affected
Sumatek Auksu
Edelle Flexhorn
Casvian
Alric
Teriwyth (If there are no other PC Targets)

Duration: 5 Rounds

Effect: When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with any weapon he is holding. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)

A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.

All of the hasted creature's modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject's normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for increased speed.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

Initiative:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Reflex:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Action: Tries to avoid the cattle, and move towards the ranch hand.

I should mention, you are technically allowed to forfeit your reflex save to take an attack of opportunity at a -4 against the advancing bulls.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

I will keep my actions also.

male Halfling rogue 6

illkeep my actions the same also. add 1 to my reflex save if i am hasted also for a 13. also im unsure if rogue evasion would help me in this situation but its there for your consideration.

My reflex save should go up by one due to the haste spell Alric cast. Sorry about that.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

Not me, is Teriwyth

Teriwyth is acting last, no haste bonuses I believe :(

His init beat mine, not that being last when you are being charged by bulls is anything to brag about. :(

Teriwynth and Casvian deftly dodge the passing bovines. With a boost to their speed, Sumatek and Alric make towards a shelter belt in an adjacent field, just barely keeping ahead of the charge. Climb checks Edelle is unfortunatley caught undertoe by the passing herd. They nearly crack one of her ribs in the process, and there are more to come it seems. 20 damage. Edelle Casvian and Teriwynth must make a second save/action against a second wave of cattle approaching.

The dirt is still unsettled and it is difficult to see the condition of the horseman at this moment.

Female Human Monk 7

What type of madman keeps so many bulls together?!!!
With all concern for the mad farmer rapidly evaporating Edelle jumps onto the nearest & lowest tree branch.

Edelle picks her self up off the ground just in time to leap out of the way of another bull. She sommesaults in the air over the beast, her robe catching on the horns and dragging her hard for a moment before letting go. Teriwynth and Casvian also keep clear of the hardest hits. My mistake here, it was reflex save for half. 7 damage this round for Casvian, Teriwynth, and Edelle. Cas and Teri have 10 more from last round to make up.

The bulls have dispersed now to a point where you are in no more danger. Alric and Sumatek climb down from the tree branch where they had quickly taken shelter. All members of the group convene around the horseman who appears nastily injured. Leg bone can be seen protruding from his mid thigh. It will take a gentle and wise hand to heal him properly. The bone must be set first. Sumatek seems preoccupied looking around, but there is nothing of note that would have spooked the cattle.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

"I am willing to assist anyone who is skilled in the at first aid".
I prefer to take 10 for the aid another action, but I don't know if it is rules legal. If it is not take the roll below as the assist roll. If nobody else is taking the initiative to heal then you can take the following roll as the main heal check or have me roll again.
Heal check to assist if taking 10 is not an option: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

PS: The 17 only stands if I was not allowed to take 10.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

Don't look at me Casivan. I mostly just hurt people, not fix 'em

Female Human Monk 7

Hrm, those bulls sure did leave a dint. Could we share around that curing wand please? I'm on my last legs here
Why didn't I heal after the Drider/fall?

Edelle Flexhorn wrote:

That's a good question, as I understand the timeline we're a couple days out no?

If I take no action but to run this round can I avoid the damage altogether? Hasted person faster than charging bulls?

No, this is the same day as the drider encounter. You're coming up on evening as you get into town here.
@Teriwynth: I'm afraid not. You're already in the middle of the stampede. On the plus side, your haste spell saved a lot of the party a lot of damage. Good way to introduce yourself if you ask me.

As Casvian begins to treat the wound, there is a call in the distance. A couple more ranch hands are quickly approaching from the bunkhouse, one carries a medical kit and offers it to help. He says he is not very experienced and that someone else would be better to try to help him.
Casvian continues to work on the leg, taking his time taking 10 is fine . He carefully sets the bone back in place and treats the open wound as best he can. It is rough, but he thinks it will do.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

Casvian waits, but gets no takers so he sets the bone.
He then pulls out the wand of cure light wounds, and asked would needs to be healed.

I'm going to take some time taking 20 on perception: 33 to search the paddock for signs of something that would cause the bulls to get so worked up.

Knowledge checks to understand stuff:
Local: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Sumatek rechecks Casvian's suchures and makes some suggestions. His wound looks much better now with a second opinion.
Sumatek and Edelle go out searching for the cause of the anarchy while the rest of the group helps the ranch hand to the main house. He is promptly put to bed rest there.
The ranch owner addresses you. He is a pleasant man, always smiling. His bright eyes show a kindness that is not suggested by his arms, which are bulked up from manual labour. " Thank you much for helping Garry. He's new to this area. Heard about how the beasts have gone wild and thought this would be a great place to cowboy it up practicing for the Wyvern Rodeo. Now it looks like he might have to miss it because of that stampede. It's too bad about that too. He was some real competition for Roughrider.

Edelle and Sumatek return from their search. They come up with nothing. The only change to the animal's environment was the presence of their group. It makes no sense that they would be so frightened by passersby on a well travelled trail. Edelle does note however that the group does have a particularly strong scent, but that does not seem like something that would cause a stampede.

Male Half-Elf Bard 1/Wizard 6

Teriwyth looks a bit bedraggled, having been trampled and all. Picking himself up and dusting himself off he staggers forward.

"As you can see I may not be anything special but in a small capacity I can make myself useful. If you"ll have me I'd be honored to aid the liberators of underdark in whatever heroic venture they deem worthy of their attention"

male Halfling rogue 6

I would say you have been more than useful. Mostly because your spell got us all the heck out of the way of those beasts a bit faster. It would be a pleasure to have another arcanist in the group.

Sumatek extends a handshake and a lighthearted smile as well.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

After setting the broken bone Casvian addresses the others.

Looking at Teriwyth, "I don't think I caught your name, but thanks for the help. My name is Casvian."

He then turns to the ranch owner. "You're welcome. I have never been randomly attacked by animals before. I do hope that whatever made it happen is something that can be washed off."

Tries to remember if he has heard of such occurrences in nature before, other than an animal being attacked or having its personal space/territory invaded.
knowledge nature:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Casvian:
Such an occurence is common for a frightened animal, if it feels it is threatened it will either run or attack. The source of the fear can be anything truly. Some horses frighten if approached from the wrong side, or if they are in a crowd. Nonetheless, it is usually something unusual that is added to the environment, not something routine.

"This town has been doomed from the groundbreaking. We knew we were building too close to the drow, and the orcs for that matter, but we did it anyways. Now we're down who knows how many head of cattle and have that fence to repair before nightfall. Can't leave my stock out loose especially with that cat-beast prowling the night. "

Female Human Monk 7

A night hunting cat-beast? Sounds like we'd better get these smelly people a good and proper bath and somewhere safe to stay for the night. Rancher, can you help us out with that if we give you a hand to fix the fence?

" I'd be more than happy to put up the half dozen of you. I noticed the rest of the group behind you continued into town. I am less concerned about the fence and more worried about my stock. They were being moved to another field anyways. If you can retrieve my cattle by the evening, there will be a hot, fresh meal in it for you, and warm water to go around. "

male Halfling rogue 6

Sure thing lets get em rounded up. I need a hot meal and a bath too maybe to get rid of this underdark funk.

Sumatek sets off to help but keeps his weapons loose now that he knows of a big cat-beast.

round up roll lol survival maybe? 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
and a perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Male Half-Elf Bard 1/Wizard 6

Teriwyth makes his introductions to the party, shaking hands and kissing babies.

"My name is Teriwyth, and I'm looking forward to learning more about each of you"

After introductions he fades into the background listening to the conversation with the people.
